Lovely pond and great way to keep the turtles healthy and happy. WARMING though, the turtles and predators can climb that wire fence!!!! You are better to replace the fence with smoother plastic or metal sheeting so the turtles can climb out, or even build a solid brick wall with an overhang on top.
I live relatively close to that pet store! My boyfriend and I love going there all the time!! Haha, I knew it looked like you were in FL. Wow, what a small world! Love this video, I’m so jealous of the enclosure you built, I need something like this for my ever growing snapping turtle but not really any space in my backyard.
I'm trying to do something similar, should I consider using chicken wire on the top as well to protects from predators like cats or racoons? How is yours doing?
Mine are doing fine. If you bad cases of raccoons are cats in your area I would recommend maybe putting a top on. But overall you should be fine without one. Hope this helps.
Racoon's in Tennessee so I am covering all. Adults and my babies in small wire.I haven't heard of rats attacking but at hay mowing time. They come out and are large like opossum.
This pond it's so nice ! I wish I have space to build one for my rambo he is 13 years old. I rescued two baby turtles from the side of the road . I released them back to their habitat when they got healthy and strong.
thought about setting up outdoor lighting, do they need it and how to set it up so the rain wont get to cords or lighting?? any ideas /thoughts on this? or maybe outdoors don't need it? tho in WINTER even if I'm just setting up a outdoor heat matt how do i set up the cords to not get wet by rain?as it would need extension cord etc. ps I'm thinking more for a water turtle
I’m gonna make one for my turtle. I bought a rabbit cage though because it was easier to set up (I’m lazy) and the birds peck my turtle and bully him. 😞 we also have stray cats in the neighborhood.
All these plants I got from a river that is in my area. After I put them in the pond they multiplied leaving me with lots more. The plants I have in the pond now are called water lettuce and water hyacinths. Hope this helps.
The sun is making my turtle pond get very hot. Be careful. They are all almost blk.or some dark color. Heats up fast, especially if not in ground. Full sun is good on turtles. If they don't boil first. I don't eat turtle soup. Lol
I got this tub online on let go. You can find some decent tubs on there as well as offer up too. As for the gallons I’m not exactly sure how much it is.
I live in the UK, I have a Turtle pond, does anyone think it would be a good idea to build a shelter with heat bulbs in? I know they get their heat from the sun but I was thinking it will be ok for my Turtle to.use if it wishes & when it's not such a hot day. Also, if I do build it shall I take it out of the pond & put it in the shelter so it knows where it is if he wants to use it?
Setting up an additional enclosure for your turtle is definitely an option you can do especially if it gets really cold there. You can put your turtle in there for a little to get used to and switch back and forth. Just make sure it has the proper setup and environment so it can grow healthy. Hope this helps👍🏻
Do yall that turtles have a homing device like system? So when u get them from the wild they will spend most of their life trying to go back r ok there they were going
As long as the enclosure gets direct sunlight they don’t need a light and heater. Its pretty much how they are in the wild. The one turtle I first put in was a reeves turtle. Hope this helps.
They are mostly in the water all the time. I don’t have to really worry about predators in my area. If something were to come down and attack them I’m sure they would run into the water.
I believe it’s roughly around 380 gallons. Someone was giving this tub away online and I had to pick it up. I know Home Depot or Lowe’s sells some. Hope this helps.
Jake's Fish Tanks the way they get peat moss is very bad for the environment it takes a long time to grow back and it's a home for many animals. :( but overall i really like your pond it looks cool :)))
Do you put turtle 🐢 in the pond every time or just in day or just in certain climate ?? Because I build a pond but I don’t have any idea if I m suppose to put it there all day night or just for some specific time !!!
noemi lopez I got this tub from offer up and got a good deal. I would recommend looking at let go or offer up for tubs. I know Lowe’s and Home Depot sells them as well.

Good job I love turtles so much. I actually have them.

Cats shouldn't be a problem because water and make the edge steep to stop raccoons

Awesome pond build! The turtle looks happy. Thanks for sharing!!

This pond is so cool!!!!!
You just got a new subscribers!
Appreciate it! 👍🏻
I see it’s been 3 years since this was posted is the pond still up and doing good? Everything still Alive and clean???
Awesome pond can we get a update video
Hi I'm in Florida too. I got a turtle that needs a home.
Hi have a question what are those black tubs called?
they are just a certain type of pond liners!
Awesome
What plants did you use and where are they from?
All these plants I got from a river that is in my area. After I put them in the pond they multiplied leaving me with lots more. The plants I have in the pond now are called water lettuce and water hyacinths. Hope this helps.
Thank you!!

Where did you get that tub and how many gallons is it?
I got this tub online on let go. You can find some decent tubs on there as well as offer up too. As for the gallons I’m not exactly sure how much it is.
Nice pond my dude!
what kind of fishes did you add?
A bunch of minnows, blue gill, small cichlids, and a small bass.

Nice video dude I wanna build a turtle pond like your for my baby red eared slider
Do yall that turtles have a homing device like system? So when u get them from the wild they will spend most of their life trying to go back r ok there they were going
Very cool! 🤘🏽
That’s a dooe pond man should have put some terrapins in there.
How much did those tubs cost and how many gallons are they?
I’m not exactly sure how many gallons it holds but I got mine for around 100. Hope this helps 👍🏻
im surprised the turtles dont just climb up and over the chicken wire.. Sliders are very strong climbers
What kind of filter are you using
I have the pump with a filter material inside of it. Plants also help clear up the water.
Jake's Fish Tanks do you know what it is called
The actual pump is called creek stone submersible pond pump. The filter material is a mesh square that I clean out every now and then.
Do these not need a uvb light and a heater? And what turtles are they? Please
As long as the enclosure gets direct sunlight they don’t need a light and heater. Its pretty much how they are in the wild. The one turtle I first put in was a reeves turtle. Hope this helps.
Do you have to clean this periodically or does it manage itself?
I clean out the plants and do water changes every now and then
Amazing work💯 just worried about birds of prey
I’m not too worried because of my area. They also have lots of cover to hide 👍🏻
Wait how do you make sure they don’t get eaten by predators such as birds
They are mostly in the water all the time. I don’t have to really worry about predators in my area. If something were to come down and attack them I’m sure they would run into the water.
Jake's Fish Tanks ok tysm
Where did you get all the water from?
I use a hose
Jake's Fish Tanks was it well water?? Because I don’t know what to use
For my tanks I use tap water and put conditioner in
For a pond tho a hose should be fine. You can get conditioner as well to help ready the water for fish
how do you deal with rain and things
The rain has never been a problem. There is little overflow on one side but other than that it’s all good 👍🏻
what happen if rain hit the pond
Sick!
Where can I find a pond tub like that? How many gallons?
I believe it’s roughly around 380 gallons. Someone was giving this tub away online and I had to pick it up. I know Home Depot or Lowe’s sells some. Hope this helps.
@@jakeludlow1800 is it available in amazon ? What to search for ?
Siddhartha Patel you can try searching plastic pond tubs. I would recommend looking on offer up or let go to get some good deals.
@@jakeludlow1800 thanks a lot Jake:)
Did you find anything? I’m also looking for one.
It is awsome! What kind of soil did you use for the outside part?
It’s called peat moss
Jake's Fish Tanks the way they get peat moss is very bad for the environment it takes a long time to grow back and it's a home for many animals. :( but overall i really like your pond it looks cool :)))
Nice pond but why are you buyed only one ...
I bought one turtle to start off. If you watch one of my latest videos I have a big female red eared slider and a small mud turtle in there now.
How r u keeping the water clean ?
Nadia Uriostegui he is using a pound filter
Do you put turtle 🐢 in the pond every time or just in day or just in certain climate ?? Because I build a pond but I don’t have any idea if I m suppose to put it there all day night or just for some specific time !!!
Mine is in there all day. It should be good in there
If you have anymore questions or concerns let me know
Hey I'm doing the same but my worries are my turtles will climb out. Have you had this happen? Are they able to climb this fence at all? Thanks!
bruh, when i saw this video, i think i would like to give u my turtle😭, the pool is so damn cool
Please make sure you read up on turtles. They are quite solitary and you have to be very careful cohabiting tnem.
I wish i could make my red ear sliders something cool like this but i live in a apartment😕
you should put them in a indor 75 gallon tub whith 20 dry gallons on the side bieng sand and plants for basking
I live in a house and I just got my first red ear hatchling 😍😍😍😍😍
What plants did you use?
The ones I have in the pond now are called water lettuce and water hyacinths
Thanks the pond looks great
What was the title cost?
Not including turtle
I would say maybe around 200-250
How much did it cost you?
I don’t exactly remember, but the tub I got for 100 and the pump was 45. The wood, fencing, and mulch i got from Home Depot.
@@jakeludlow1800 were did you get the tub I want to buy one for my three red eared sliders
noemi lopez I got this tub from offer up and got a good deal. I would recommend looking at let go or offer up for tubs. I know Lowe’s and Home Depot sells them as well.
I am in no way a hater... I worry that your containment system is inadequate. I have been keeping turtles for 35 years
How do though ? Don’t make a statement and not elaborate. What could he have changed ? I just got my first red ear slider today. It’s a hatchling
Careful, when he is older and bigger he can climb that net!!!!:(
Where to buy your bucket
The yellow bucket you can find at your local hardware store.
Nice. We had something similar in our backyard until the racoons came through and killed all our turtles.
Sorry to hear that. Thankfully my area doesn’t have much raccoons.
Raccoon proof that thing loll
My turtles dug out and escaped ~
Dang. Next time dig the fence a foot under the ground too. That will help with the digging. I hope you can find them.
Yeah right •
Must have never had a turtle…..a turtle will literally climb that or walk under the gaps lol
All the turtles are still in their enclosures to this day. Thanks for your concern tho.
Nvm
Ñame him squirt
He's a very very happy turtle! I enjoy the video.
