Hi Jarrod. I have the HP Omen 15 (Ryzen 7 4800H + GTX 1660ti model) which I love. I've noticed in a couple of vids now that you've mentioned OC'ing the Omen with Ryzen Controller / Afterburner. Could you please either post your optimal settings or maybe even do a video? I'd love to optimise the Omen as you have done but don't have the knowledge and would massively appreciate some help! Thanks 👍🏻
Dell G5 SE has improved drastically, I must say. In my testing, the G5 SE showed much better temps and no crashes. Initial launch was absolutely terrible and that has ruined it's image. Using Ryzen controller and settings CPU temp limit to 92C drastically changes the way the machine behaves! Low temps and high performance!
@@JarrodsTech nice one, we can't wait for that.. so happy with our G5 SE.. a budget gaming laptop that can perform well in most triple A games at 60 fps or more 🔥🔥
I agree with this, since the AMD drivers have started to be updated, the new bios 1.3 (I've avoided 1.4.4 for now) the performance has improved dramatically. I've used Ryzen controller to thermally limit to 90C as Deeptesh has and its just amazing tbh.
As a G14 user I'm proud to have it! I'm a literature student and a casual gamer. I don't mind the lack of num pad and the lack of webcam since I always an ext one. Battery life is phenomenal, doesn't thermal throttle, looks stellar, is portable, performs decent enough to give 60-70 fps on aaa titles high-ultra settings, has a usb c charging. Can't go wrong for am all in one laptop♥️
Nice list, by the way, I'm loving my HP Envy x360 with an AMD Ryzen 5 5500 U Processor and integrated graphics, it does well on high settings on the games I play, so far no crashing.
you were instrumental to my eventual purchase of my legion 5 laptop and watching this video, i kinda thought the omen 15 would be top 1. having the legion 5 in the top 3 would have been fine by me but seeing as you have it as number 1 was a surprise. im really happy to have gone with a legion 5. its just a 4600h with a 1650ti and the crappy 120hz they all diss about, but im content with what i bought. it works well for what i use it for. and its so damn quiet and cool. congrats Jarrod! keep it up! 👌👌👌
Watching this on my Zephyrus G14. Definitely recommend this laptop to anyone who prefers a small laptop for the road that can turn into a gaming monster when plugged in at home. Thanks Jarrod for your reviews and videos. I finally have my own laptop and it is really really good.
I bought omen 15 because that was the best ryzen 4000 laptop at the time I was looking for a new laptop. And even if legion is the best one, I think I'll still choose omen for the design. Legion design is still looks too 'gaming', at least for me. So I didn't regret buying omen 15. Used this laptop for about more than 2 months now. Anyway thanks for the video! 😊🙏
I've been watching your videos since March and finally got my own PC last month after lots of hard work and encouragement from the comment section. I don't understand why I'm watching these videos rn 😂
In india the dell G5 SE is the best bang for the buck option at 75k inr (~1000 usd) for R5 4600H and 5600M with 120hz screen. The omen 15 is 86k inr (~1,162 usd) for the 4600H 1660ti and 60hz screen. Lenovo didn't even launch the legion 5 amd version....
Price wise, dell g5 se costs almost the same as lenovo legion 5 which is 928usd in america and 75k INR in India. So fingers crossed for the lenovo legion 5's price in India🤞🤞. I've arranged 85k for it. If I get it under 80k I will buy a 500gb nvme and if Not I'll manage with the the given 512gb storage😮😮
If we talk about Intel variants, the Omen 15 is probably better since it allows switching to discrete graphics. But for AMD, Legion 5 seems to be better. Keeping this in mind, I still went for an Omen 15-ek0022tx (i7-10750H, RTX 2070). Zero regrets.

@@RamonAlcaide it might be bulky but you get best cooling with very minimal fan noise. If you compare any gaming laptop in 2020 Legion has got minimal fan noise.
Just ordered the Legion 5😍 I'm so excited
I originally had ordered the ASUS Tuf a15 earlier in 2020, however due to COVID delays I waited 4 months and it never came. I ended up canceling that order and got the Legion 5 17in. RTX 2060 instead! Couldn’t be happier!
Let’s go, the Lenovo legion 5 i got it when it dropped and I’m so happy now
Came here for the roundup, loved the t-shirt.
Only wish you had Countless Skies as background music ;)
If you're in the US, Best Buy currently has the HP Omen 15 on sale with the 4800H, 1660Ti, 144Hz display, 16GB RAM, and 1TB SSD for $950!
Link?
I ended up buying the HP Omen 15 because it was available for same day pick up and I didn’t need to upgrade the storage for an additional $$$ since it already has a terabyte.
I bought it for $950. Thoroughly Enjoying it right now. You can just go through the Best buy site/app. Exact same specs and running cinebench and testing everything right now. It was between this or the Legion 5 with the i7 and rtx 2060 for $50 more. But I wanted an AMD Ryzen CPU. Every laptop before this was an intel chip.
@@s0nsoftheworld I got the HP Omen 15 originally with the recent sale ($827 open box excellent from BB). I’m throughly impressed with the overall presence and its performance. Unfortunately I was not able to adjust screen brightness, googled everything, seems it’s a hardware bug with the earlier batches (warranty shows it was an August machine). Got in on the Legion 5 4800H RTX 2060 deal yesterday and will see how it goes....and yes, I’m now a firm believer of the Ryzen cpu, it smoked last years XPS 15 with 9750h in nearly every productivity software that I use
@@mjkl614 Lucky! When I tried to checkout the Legion 5 RTX 2060/R7, it was sold out.
Got the Legion 5 at the $850 price a couple weeks after pointing it out to a friend who bought it right before it went on sale. Very glad I waited. Thanks for the video.
Lenovo Legion best option 2020. Said it when it launched Jarrod!

Amazing job and directly focused on what people want to know! Perfect bro!
I got the ASUS G14 as soon as it was available and I'm SO glad that I got it! I'm a university researcher so the portability is extremely useful, whilst being powerful enough for me to run 2D/3D CAD software, coding, gaming, doing 3D animations with Blender, etc.
Legion 5 is way better and cheaper TBH...

I got a Zephyrus g15 with Ryzen 7 4800HS and 1660ti(max-q) with 16 gigs and 240hz 100% sRGB display. The display is phenomenal and I can't say I got any throttling, although the temps do tend to stay in the 80s.
Yas! I'm waiting for my legion 5 to arrive❤️, I purchased it after the direct comparrison vs the omen
Yeah, I've had one for three months and it has improved greatly over time
your videos helped me so much Deeptesh!
Retesting it with latest updates is on my to-do list.
You deserve every PUB on your vids. Great as always. TY and cheers from Portugal ;)
I caved in and traded my MSI GS66 for a G14 today, lesser GPU but ultimately a better choice looking into the future
REALLY? was it worth it more than the gs66? I’m think the gs66 rn
Feels so good watching this video on my legion 5. Thank you for your videos !
Nice list, by the way, I'm loving my HP Envy x360 with an AMD Ryzen 5 5500 U Processor and integrated graphics, it does well on high settings on the games I play, so far no crashing.
I got the Legion for 850, even though I was vouching for the Omen. I took your word for the Legion and I am impressed indeed. Thank you, Jarrod!
Thank you. I like that you rate and give close ended answers to your video titles

you were instrumental to my eventual purchase of my legion 5 laptop and watching this video, i kinda thought the omen 15 would be top 1. having the legion 5 in the top 3 would have been fine by me but seeing as you have it as number 1 was a surprise. im really happy to have gone with a legion 5. its just a 4600h with a 1650ti and the crappy 120hz they all diss about, but im content with what i bought. it works well for what i use it for. and its so damn quiet and cool. congrats Jarrod! keep it up! 👌👌👌
120Hz isn't crappy lol, an external monitor is always an option if anything
You should try (when it get back at stock) the HP Pavilion Gaming 15, its amazing for the price. I took mine for less than $650 USD

Excellent review. The comparison bar charts particularly the pixel response was really useful
Thanks, good to hear!
Use Ryzen controller for Dell G5 15 SE to control the temperature.
Would that then decrease performance? Im getting one and am looking for things that i should be doing with it to keep it going well.
We need the same vid for intel, especially focused on cpu temperatures while video rendering and streaming
I bought the Legion 5 thanks to your review weeks ago, it actually is the best ryzen laptop!
Could you do a gaming test of lenovo legion 5 with 2060?
I've been watching your videos since March and finally got my own PC last month after lots of hard work and encouragement from the comment section. I don't understand why I'm watching these videos rn 😂
In india the dell G5 SE is the best bang for the buck option at 75k inr (~1000 usd) for R5 4600H and 5600M with 120hz screen. The omen 15 is 86k inr (~1,162 usd) for the 4600H 1660ti and 60hz screen. Lenovo didn't even launch the legion 5 amd version....
Hopefully they launch Legion there!
@@JarrodsTech is it a good idea to buy current gen laptops right now or should I just wait for next gen ? Ryzen 5000 and rdna2 or ampere GPUs ?

Price wise, dell g5 se costs almost the same as lenovo legion 5 which is 928usd in america and 75k INR in India. So fingers crossed for the lenovo legion 5's price in India🤞🤞. I've arranged 85k for it. If I get it under 80k I will buy a 500gb nvme and if Not I'll manage with the the given 512gb storage😮😮
Thanks for the great comparison. I just found the HP Omen 15 on sale at Best Buy for $849. Just pulled the trigger on it!
I now that legion 5 is overall better, but my eyes just tend to love omen 15, so I don't now what to choose.
Same
The one with rgb lol
lol.. same here.. Legion 5 seems like a winner but the only downside is that it has a plastic deck.. what a bummer.
