      Hi Jarrod. Do you mind to review 17" of Helios 300? i think it will be a good topic to talk about 😉, since it doesn't suck that much as much i tested. 140w of TGP for 3070. that would be a great contrast for your 15" model.

I am able to game on this at high settings and the great part of it is it didn't break my bank. Thank you Jarrod for being my go-to reviewer for the past year, I finally got my 2021 Lenovo legion 7 a few weeks ago, a MASSIVE jump from my old 2012 Samsung laptop, the 32GB of RAM + Ryzen 9 5000 + RTX 3080 make such a compelling performance, I cannot believe how long I've grown accustomed to the immensely slow speed that my old laptop provides. Since one has to be on wall power to really run the GPU, I think that the power drain due to the Corsair software is really an overrated point and, since you can just disable it and get a better power profile, I think this is a nonissue. Thanks for the video! Saw this after i got my Asus TUF Dash F15. It's pretty good so far, way better than my old HP laptop with a dual-core i3. My personal experience is pretty good. I got the F15 with a 3050ti, 8 GB DDR4 ram, and i7-11370h. It runs most games over 100 fps on medium - high settings. Some games run less then 100 fps, but thats fine. For the most part, this laptop is way better than my old one, and because of that, I am extremely happy with it. It's pretty fast, lightweight, and 144hz. Can't get over it. No camera, but that's fine. It's overall a good laptop, just a quad-core cpu does tend to bottleneck gpu in more heavy cpu games. Other than that, it does extremely well in whatever I throw at it. His only problem was the lower performance due to having only a single channel RAM out of the box. If you got it on dual channel for no extra cost, then you got a good deal. Kind of jealous actually because in my area, even this late in the year, the Acer Nitro available for about $1100 equivalent is a single channel with only RTX 3050.

    Didn't see this video for a month, but I actually chose my best friend's birthday present from his parents by accident a little while before this video came out and recommended the Legion 5. So now he's got a Legion 5. No regrets, and nice to see it in second place to validate my recommendation. Eluktronics is just not available in Singapore.
    For anyone curious about it, his Dad told him that he needed to buy a new gaming laptop (his Dad's a gamer) and asked him for recommendations, but he wasn't sure so he asked me, and I recommended a configuration for the Legion 5 that he then passed along to his Dad. I have the hp Omen 15 from 2018 with the i7 and 1060. My CPU fan failed and I contacted hp service in my country. Being 3 years old it was out of warranty. They quoted a price for the repair of one fan, it was $94(converter) which was a lot. I then asked local repair shops but they couldn't get the replacement part and it wasn't available online in my country. I finally found the replacement fans(both) from a US seller that ships to my country and ordered it. Even after payment for international shipping, customs and tax it came in under the price hp quoted. $82 exact, and that was for both fans. 🙃

    It works great for exactly what I bought it for and helps me save power as I live off grid with solar from the roof of my van. It's sad you left the G15 Strix AE off this list. It's by far the best value to performance you can get. 5980HX/6800m are both top tier. Biggest knock on it is the plastic, but you had the Dell G15 in the list so apparently that isn't the issue. But this is an opinion piece so I can see certainly understand liking the Legions. Cheers!

    • @EMLL.33
      @EMLL.33 2 роки тому

      I tried the G15 Strix AE and desperately wanted to love it. The CPU and GPU are crazily powerful... BUT, no MUX switch to fully unleash that 6800m, and the heat build-up on it (and every other 15.6" laptop I've tried) killed the deal for me. I also couldn't stand the heat and fan noise pumped out by the Lenovo Legion 5 (with its incredibly irritating and constant fan spin-up and spin down). The Alienware m15 R5 with the 3070 was the biggest sauna-maker (Jesus, the heat that thing threw off, I'd be amazed if the machine lasted a year of normal use), and the pushed down keyboard had my wrist hanging over the edge of the keyboard deck, so that was returned, too. The Dell G15 came the closest to being tolerable in terms of the fan noise generated, but it also ran a bit hotter than then Lenovo. I think I liked the G15 the best because it was quite a bit cheaper than the Lenovo, and quieter while gaming, while still providing a MUX switch and the same 165Hz 1080p panel. I finally figured out the only solution to the heat/fan noise generated by all the 15.6" laptops I tried: a 17.3" form factor. Currently have an MSI Leopard GP76 with an 11800h/3070 combo. It has a MUX switch, but runs quieter than the Legion 5, and the heat simply gets more easily dissipated by the larger chassis. Only thing is, it weighs a ton, especially with its power brick. I finally just tried an Asus Strix G14 with an AMD 6800hs/6700s combination, and I loved the size and weight, but it got so hot, it was actually uncomfortable to touch the upper metal keyboard deck. In this case, I think the plastic chassis are an advantage, like with the Dell G15, because plastic is non-conductive of heat, so the keyboard deck stays noticeably cooler. In the end, I might just sell the Leopard GP76 and pick up a 2021 Dell G15 5800/3060 combo for $1199 Canadian while I still can. The awesome battery life combined with the gaming performance, quieter fan, and the plastic yet high-quality build may have just won me over for good.

    It's extremely unfortunate that you take every opportunity you can to talk about how "bad" the Nitro 5 is just because your test machine was poorly configured.
    The most unfortunate part is that I was hoping my machine came with a single 16gb stick so that I could upgrade to 32gb dual channel at a minimal cost. What you view as the Nitro 5's weakest point is actually a great opportunity for expansion on a budget.
