After reading the news and getting agitated, I LOVE watching you create magic while listening to soothing music. Thank you so much for showing us your techniques.
Thank You Peter Sheeler for this and your other tutorials. The nuance of the way you sweep the pigment on the paper is so helpful to see. Subtlety has been my failing but I am starting to have a breakthrough with this cloud thing thanks to you. Also the simple color palette and color mixing-- I have finally begun to enjoy this! Muchos Thankies
I am relatively new to Watercolors. UA-cam videos and experience are major education factors in my improvement. This is a wonderful video; gives me courage to break into my pad of Arches hot press paper. Thank you for your demos!
I really love your style of art and tutorials. Thank you for for the silence and the soothing music. Also I love your style pen and ink with the watercolor. I am new to watercolor and am emulating some of your pictures and plan to do more like the colorful houses . Great job! Pat Herren
Thank you for the tutorial. Love clouds and water scenes. I’m just a beginner but will try and paint something similar. I always use my round brushes but try my flat ones now. Love your work.
Peter, thank you so much for sharing your work, truly inspiring and I learn so much. Your brush technique on the clouds has opened this beginner watercolourist eyes! Practice, practice practice for me. Thanks again.
I enjoyed sooooo much this video. It's like magic! It's so beautiful! I love the clouds and their beautiful color! You're great! I'm going to try to make this drawing to practice. I love to look at the sky.... ....every single day.
So beautiful! Thank you for sharing your techniques! You make it look easy, but I know there's years of practice behind your skill. Still wonderful! Cheers, -Anne
This lovely video got me easily through half my two-mile run at the gym. I'll be traveling in 2018 and want improved sketching skills. Thanks for aiding my progress through all your videos.
I am new to this. So glad I found you. Your videos have dramatically improved my ability to do nice sky background. I also love your line wash style. Thanks for sharing your skills!
Peter, just started following your posts of some excellent tutorials. Good display of labeled paints along side of your work piece. Taping the paper evenly allows the viewer to end up with a finished painting. Showing comments periodically, eg.,type of brush, is quite effective. The commentary further down the page adds good depth and breadth to the tutorial. In the above work I felt that your original sky was the perfect hue. But it showed how re-doing one part of a painting might improve it or it might not. Looking forward to seeing more of your tutorials and work. Also noticing how many of your subscribers appear to be learning a lot from your sessions, a testament to your online method of helping them handle the medium more effectively.
Hey Peter, Thanks for the inspiration! This was my first ever watercolor painting. i.imgur.com/f3QdDng.jpg I learned: -Pay attention when taping the paper to the board and make sure it's tight, or else the paper will buckle. -Be patient when taking off the tape, or it can tear the paper. -I need to practice my ratio of pigment-to-water, especially in the cloud highlights. Was way too dark there. So, a great learning experience! Excited to keep going.
Very nice and appears so basic that many people will try to duplicate your techniques and style. BTW, have you checked Instagram lately? A few people are following along with your tutorials and posting their own paintings. I have to say they're doing quite well, too. You've inspired many folks to jump in and at least try painting with watercolors, which is a great thing to see and read about. I thank you for the time and effort you put into your tutorials!
Really nice demo of clouds and waves! I have a question about the placement of the grasses. Many times a composition will have grasses or branches or such in the lower left. It is understandable this is to lead the viewer into the focal area. But why usually the left? Is this because we read left to right, or is it a more natural stroke for a right handed painter? Is it more aesthetic for a psychological reason? Thanks
Hi Peter! I love your work, but do you recommend any colors I can use to substitute sepia? I have every other color but I cannot find sepia and wondering why I could do to substitute? Thank you!
Very nice Peter, really enjoyed the way you finessed the sky and dimensionalized the clouds with that bit of grayish color towards the end. Do you ever paint larger pieces?
Hallo Peter. Your picture are gorgeous! Thank you. I have a Question (sorry for my English): My paper get lways wavy and bent , what can I do?(I use sellotape too).Paper 200g/m2. Mathias
It's difficult XD, i only use cheap brushes and paper. does this influence my work? though i've successfully followed few of your tutorials. clouds are my weakness.
Hi Rin. Yes, cheap paper is very hard to learn on. And if you master it you will need to learn all over again on good paper as it will take paint very differently.
Robert, I'm not a teacher. I am completely self taught, but wanted to share by demonstration what little knowledge I've gained over the years. A lot of time is time and effort is dedicated to making these and I am always surprised that people complain about something that is offered for free.
Peter, thank you for teaching me how to paint clouds better than anyone
After reading the news and getting agitated, I LOVE watching you create magic while listening to soothing music. Thank you so much for showing us your techniques.
Oh Jennifer, and you thought you were agitated LAST year! Lol

Oh, Mr. Sheeler. How easy you make it all look. :-) I could sit all day and watch. Thanks so much for your videos.
Thoughtful comments. Thank you :)

Thank you very much Rosemarie. Hearing that makes this all worthwhile for me :) Peter
I am so mesmerized with this that I can watch it over and over. I like the brushing techniques you use to paint the clouds and sky.
This is probably the one of the most beautiful sky/ocean painting tutorials I have watched....and the pen work...just makes me drool...love it
Thank you very much Margo. That's a big compliment :)

Thank you for the tutorial. Love clouds and water scenes. I’m just a beginner but will try and paint something similar. I always use my round brushes but try my flat ones now. Love your work.
one flat brush. No tissue paper clouds. Very nice, Peter. The limited palette is also very nice. Thanks buddy!
Wonderful painting and technique. Thank you for showing beginners such as I how to do it. This really helps.
Peter, vous êtes un poète de l’aquarelle 🤗

Thank you very much. I hope you do give it a go. Just remember not to try to copy it too closely. keep your style loose and let the clouds develop.
So beautiful! Thank you for sharing your techniques! You make it look easy, but I know there's years of practice behind your skill. Still wonderful! Cheers, -Anne

Skies are tough. Don't try to paint it exactly the same. Just let the clouds develop.
Tres bel effet nuages avec 3 couleurs j adore
Hey Peter,
Thanks for the inspiration!
This was my first ever watercolor painting.

I learned:
-Pay attention when taping the paper to the board and make sure it's tight, or else the paper will buckle.
-Be patient when taking off the tape, or it can tear the paper.
-I need to practice my ratio of pigment-to-water, especially in the cloud highlights. Was way too dark there.
So, a great learning experience! Excited to keep going.
Hey Dan. Great comments and observation. Thanks

Thank you very much Mary. I must go on Instagram and check that work. I post through an app and rarely go on the Instagram site. Better change that.

Beautiful as usual Peter! I have to get used to useing a flat brush, makes great cloud's.Have a Happy Thanksgiving 🍗
Thanks Sandy. I must do some clouds with a traditional brush.

Hi Deborah. Yes to all your suggestions. I also like to lean in the direction of the wind/clouds.
Hi Peter! I love your work, but do you recommend any colors I can use to substitute sepia? I have every other color but I cannot find sepia and wondering why I could do to substitute? Thank you!
Thank you very much Kellie! A simple substitute would be red and black. :)
Hi Peter, I see you are using both the Uniball and the Pigma Micron pens, do you prefer one over the other or each one for different situations? John
Hi John. I prefer the Pigma pens but I'm very hard on the soft felt tips.
Question...does it make that a big difference if I use Arches cold press...that is what I have....
Hi Margo. You can use cold press. Here is a similar video I did on cold press. ua-cam.com/video/qH8FRm-m9Yg/v-deo.html
Yet again another fantastic painting. Thank you. A quick question, do you use charcoal as a medium?
Thanks! I've never really used them but should :)
beautifull
master
Very kind words. Thank you very much. Peter :)
very good
Very nice Peter, really enjoyed the way you finessed the sky and dimensionalized the clouds with that bit of grayish color towards the end. Do you ever paint larger pieces?
Thanks James. Yes, I do as large as 4 x4 feet with watercolor on canvas.
Is there a site I can visit to see the larger works?
видео завораживает. но хотелось бы знать,что происходит с кисточкой за кадром. я только учусь. и мне очень по душе ваш стиль
Thanks for pointing out you use these same techniques on all your large paintings.God really makes clouds look too easy, doesn't He?
Very true. Thank you very much!
Hallo Peter. Your picture are gorgeous! Thank you. I have a Question (sorry for my English):
My paper get lways wavy and bent , what can I do?(I use sellotape too).Paper 200g/m2.
Mathias
Thank you very much! :)
Your paper is very thin. My paper is 300g and it wrinkles as well, but I consider that part of watercolour art.
THANKS AGAIN
You're always welcome Marthie
❤️❤️❤️
❤❤❤
You always sign it on the left side. Why did you sign on the right side this time?
It's difficult XD, i only use cheap brushes and paper. does this influence my work? though i've successfully followed few of your tutorials. clouds are my weakness.

Are your pictures postcard size ?
Paper is 5x7 inch

Супер!
Благодаря ти много! :)

Sepia colour means ..... Not available in india
Error por confusión. Disculpe. 👏👏👏👏👏
While yur painting, other parts of the painting "magically" change. Is it trick photography. Have been noticing this with MANY artists tutorials.0
Once again a great tutorial. Once again terrible "music"!
🙂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This was not that useful. If this is an instruction video THEN INSTRUCT. We're not psychic. Tell us the what and the why of what your doing.
