Beautiful technique! It's repetitive that it becomes second nature. I feel that you won't go wrong as you keep on building and elaborating on the clouds. This may be the answer to my frustration. Thank you for sharing your gift!
You are such an incredible artist and a special person. I love to watch your movies and listen to your stories and instructions. Every day you give my depressed head a spark of light. Thank you very much.
I particularly like the bold use of darker grays here . We all know once watercolors dry they seem lighter than when first put down . The final effect of multiple layering is wonderful as it gives us the whole tonal range . Bravo
i just stumbled on this and thought, I've got to try it. I've been practicing clouds all day and this was my favorite result. A huge thank you - I am now a fan!
Love this demonstration, it really shows how much depth and subtle contrast can be achieved with a more skilled approach to "lifting out clouds". This technique here enables a far more interesting skyscape painting. Thank you.
I'm getting ready to do my first watercolor painting (have worked with oils and acrylics, previously). Watercolor is a different world. I love doing skies with soft clouds and this tip here seems to be what I was looking for.
Thank you. You allowed me to understand where exactly my mistakes were. I was finally able to realize a beautiful sky. It gave me back confidence. ..... You are the best!
I thank the youtube gods for recommending me this tutorial, this is exactly what I had been trying to learn for the longest time. Thank you so so much for creating this video and explaining everything so clearly. Much love. ❤️
Thank you Peter ☁️... I believe this is the most effective way to produce a realistic cloud base for any watercolour painting I have ever seen. There are some armature painters on YT whom degrade those of us whom like to use tissues to lift out ( stop out) ! I love the end result, beautiful. 👏🏻
For someone who said in the introduction to this video that he didn't like the technique of lifting out clouds, you're VERY good at it! Thanks for the truly excellent, detailed demonstration.
Yesss! I just watched probably 15 different cloud videos, and this is by far my favorite. I'm so excited to try it, I can't contain myself. Thank you Peter! I'll graduate to the none stopping out technique after I master this 😀
You started the video by saying that this is not your preferred way to do clouds. Could you provide a link to a video where you do similar clouds using your preferred technique for the sake of comparison? Many thanks, Ciara

I like watching watercolourist woirking on proper watercolour paper and thinking that one day i'll afoard one of those and feel like them while painting. Wondeful work, enejoyed al lot!
Hi Luxio - thank you for your comment! You should just do it - watercolour materials don't have to be expensive, and if you enjoy watching other painters at work, then I'm pretty certain you would enjoy indulging in the process yourself.
Thank you so much for this wonderful video!! These are some really beautiful and realistic clouds!! All of the tips and colors are very helpful, along with the technique. Very helpful!! Thanks again.
Great instructional video. I have been working on a cloud study as of late and this “lifting” method I am anxious to “give it a go”. Thank you so much for sharing.😊
I don’t know why you don’t necessarily “like” the “lift-out” technique Peter, because you’ve mastered it, and those are some of the most beautiful watercolor clouds that I’ve seen! 👍🏽
@@peterwoolleyartist I think clouds are made for watercolor, and in my humble opinion, the “lift-out” technique that you use should not only be utilized without reservation; you’ve proven to me that it is a “must-have,” invaluable “tool” to have in our artistic-toolbox! THANKS! Subscribed!
This has indeed been very inspiring and i’m going to have a go. It’s wonderful to see this close up technique carefully done in real time. Thanks so much.
Thanks Peter, I am off to have a go, might need to practice that on quite a few sheets, but what a great technique, such a beautiful complex sky . thank you . Cheers, Lorraine
This is next level stuff! What an excellent demonstration, close ups, the layering, the blotting and the building. Feel very inspired this morning, thank you.
This turn out beautiful. I've tried to paint clouds in watercolor many times & used the method you showed here. Mine of course are near as beautiful as yours came out, but practice makes perfect. I sure hope so! Using 200 lb paper I realize must make a big difference, I've only used 140 lb. So now I'll try it with the 200 lb. Its very easy to destroy your paper very fast if not careful, or even if you are careful. This is the fourth video I've watched of yours & I've learned quite allot from them all, even though they weren't very long. So thanks very much for each one and the fun ideas I learned. The sheep were by far the most fun!😊
Thank you so much Peter. I had no idea how to even start! So enjoying clouds now. Wow! If we don’t succeed, it will have nothing to do with anything lacking in the tutorial. It’s brilliant! Thanks heaps!
