As usual, a spot on video Angela. #11 particularly resonated w me as I had to leave my beloved teaching career of over 30 years due to a health disability in 2022. Just last night I pulled the final pieces of my career from the shelves to donate to a school who can use them. I also donated the last of my personal books yesterday as my eyesight is so bad, I doubt I'll read anymore. It's too much of a struggle. Videos from UA-cam a few inches from my face are still ok!

Luggage- oh boy! We just took a vacation and my husband and I can’t even lift some of the filled suitcases we have onto the counter at the airport. Churches can use shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. Consider donating shoeboxes to a local church. Oh yeah we have a lot of suitcases located in basement. Only use four of the ones I have. We need to declutter our basement. I’m 78 so honestly how much stuff do I really need to hang on to, Did donate the wrapping paper because we always give money in cards. Really enjoying your channel. I think since books equate knowledge, people revere at a higher level, they feel a little guilty to get rid of them. It felt great to let go and clear out my books from college, personal books I read, and even my favorites. Even donated the big book case I had made my living room look cleaner and fresher.
Yes I think that’s true. And I believe a person can still very much value knowledge but not keep all.the.books - I like having the library do the storage for me! Ha ha! ❤️
I love your tips! but have to disagree about the plunger specifically, it seems we always have issues with overflow (probably due to the kids) but if I had to leave the bathroom to get the plunger in each bathroom, it would be all over the place! Not to mention we have a family of 7 and it may be possible both bathrooms would need it at the same time (big fear) lol
Oh my! I’ve only once in my entire life experienced a toilet overflow and it was after we tried plunging and then flushing again! Maybe we’ve just been blessed with good toilets! Ha ha!
I agree 100%. I choose to be practical when it comes to plungers since cleaning up & sanitizing from water & urine/fecal matter all over the bathroom floor seems far more inconvenient than simply storing a single plunger in each bathroom.
So well done! I like it. I really get what you mean with books on the shelves. In my home I made me a library room and I love it so much. It is deeply calming and every book has enough space. I do not like it if they are squeezed in the shelves. But with enough space in it I love it.Lots of empty book shelves would ruin that calm feeling and the beautiful impression what a libary has to offer. You are totally right: I do not revisit them very often and I do not read them again (not all of them) but I only have books in it I love having it.And that is totally what you said: if it has a purpose for you and you love it - great! do it. Maybe it is for this season of my life and in another season I would not want to have it any longer. I guess the point is to listen to your own heart but never let things in your house which burdens you. Thanks and lovely regards from Vienna/Austria! :)
When my hamper became damaged I converted to using an old pillowcase for dirty clothes. By doing this it keeps the laundry minimized. A few months ago I paired down my luggage set to a carry on, reduced my kitchen appliances to a food processor and a blender, a few years ago I donated all but two mugs and last fall I rediscovered the library and I was able to eliminate a lot of books I was not going to reread.
Great list of some commonly overlooked items! I'm sure I have a lifetime supply of gifting supplies, especially considering I'm making pacts with family members not to buy presents for each other anymore.
About books: Books are far more than "entertainment". They are sources of knowledge and wisdom. We recently gave away about ¾ of our books, in anticipation of a move, possibly out of country. Of the 300 or so that remain, they are mostly essential. Most are non-fiction. The rest could be classified as 'literature'. My feeling is that being 'bookish' is still pejorative. Of course, I read maths and science books for entertainment, as well as mastering a different way to look at the universe.
IMHO, bookish is a compliment! I love going into a home with books and browsing the shelves. I'm never decluttering a book unless I actively disliked it.
I won't give up my books. Reading on screen kills my eyes and gives me the grandmother of all headaches. BTW we have a family of five bookish people and we share a lot of favorites. What's more, I have a bookish niece, who sometimes borrows books from us.
@@ArrowHillCottagehow do you sort the loads then? If you just toss everything in the washer? I live in an apartment with no on-suite laundry. So you need a hamper to collect laundry. But even if I had one in my unit I do 5 separate loads, 1. PJ’s socks underwear & lounge wear , 2. my scrubs, 3. linen/bedding, 4. “street clothes in cold water and hang to dry, 5. and towels, cloths, kitchen rags etc. So I’m mind blown 🤯 at people who just toss it all together 😂
I managed to make a small photo book of my old trophies and have kept the special ones. So happy to gain that space. I knew that I'd forget what I'd achieved and didn't want to lose that info.
I agree with almost everything you said. :-) I don't have measuring spoons. I don't measure when I cook meals, and for baking I use the teaspoons & tablespoons from my cutlery and I do just fine.
I like a toilet brush behind each toilet. Also, big basement with shelves and not much down there, so we keep suitcases. We will probably move again and they can be used for that. They just live on a shelf out of the way.
We have lots of things on your list - wrapping paper, gift bags etc, books, mugs (way to many mugs) teatowels (i normally airdry so don't need) - with the others I am using up and not replacing - and using what we have as plates, mugs etc get broken.
Great video, my only thing would be the toilet brush. I agree with you germ wise however, there is nothing worse than someone using the toilet & needing to clean it immediately after & there is nothing there for them to do so before leaving the bathroom. It can be embarrassing especially if it is a guest in our home. They wouldn't want to leave it for me to clean or for the next person to see & too embarrassing to expect them to come to me & ask for cleaning supplies!
The one toilet brush we have we keep in our guest bathroom - and it had never been an issue. But I could see the potential of there isn’t a specific spot that guests use. ❤️
I kept the original box that my TV came in when I bought it nine years ago. When the back light died recently, I parted with the TV in its original box, minus the remote. However, it moved to six different homes in that time, which was why I kept the box and packaging.
I like this series of things that we really do not need. Does make you think. I love books and hav a bedroom that I turned into a library. That being said, Im actually tossing out books to make room for more. I rarely read fiction and have found that there are many books that were "it" for information back in the day are now dated and not worth donating. This is a good series - keep it up.
I do Libby with most fiction and self-help, often in the form of an audiobook that I can listen to on commutes or on breaks. If a book is useful for reference (gardening, for example), I'll hold onto it. I have a collection of old Hollywood biographies that are out of print, and a few beloved books from childhood. It's still quite a lot, but it pares down what really could end up in the house of a sentimental, life-long reader. 😂
I had a hard time getting rid of the medals, ribbons, and trophies. But they are so bulky. Finally just laid them all out, took a picture, printed it, and put it in my memory box. 🙂
People often hang onto books (and magazines) but the issue there is, if you have racks and shelves of them *when* will they all, if any of them save for one or two, be read again (except for maybe the kids, who haven’t read them and only if it’s an interesting read for young adults/children.) Nah…donate books that just keep collecting dust and silverfish etc. You don’t need musty reminders of your distant past in the form of sagging, creaky shelves.
I have a taller laundry basket that I use as a hamper. It is stored in our bedroom closet and when it is full I just grab the whole basket and bring it to the laundry room. It hold about 2 loads of laundry.
You're right about everything. I don't keep Stuff around. Rihht now Im editing my Books Books - preparingto move to anotherState. I only have reference books - on the subjects I've worked with and may need in future. Music history for instance. I'm trying to decide which ones should be kept. Most of them are out of print.
Oh you are cruel.in this one 😁 A laundry basket is a must as I hang my washing outside, weather permitting, or on to a drying rack indoors. Am not getting rid of my old nursing medals and silver buckle...worked hard for those and still proud. Yes, they are in a drawer along with some of my Mother's paintings, (they are in small books) And finally, you can never, ever, have too many notebooks. 😁. All the rest, I agree with and don't have in my house

You're absolutely right about not needing a toilet brush in every single bathroom. My plunger is also stored in the garage - have only used it once in don't know how many years, so why don't I keep the toilet bowl brush out there too? I mean, do you ever see a toilet brush stand in ANY bathroom shown in a magazine spread or on HGTV? No, just like you never see a toilet lid up (who wants to look inside a toilet when you could have the seat down until the toilet is ready to be used? Thanks for all of your useful tips and thoughts to consider.
I do not have a dryer. We use a clothes line. My grocery lists and receipts are tossed at the same time I toss my MAC and gas recepts. I have been donating our books to the local library to be sold.
A great list! I agree with most of them. Shoe boxes are the 1 thing I do not throw out, because I store my shoes in them. Except for the pair I'm wearing of course. And my Harry Potter books are also staying, I read them often. Thanks! ❤
I love your advice so much. Im in the mood to declutter! 😊 The tough one for me will be mugs. 😮. I love them 😊but need to probably get ride if some 😮. Thank you for your awesome videos! I do have a few small flexible laundry baskets that are square and have found they work well for me in our home. I do keep my favorite books and a lot of reference books. I dumped keeping receipts years ago and it is awesome to be free from them. yes, we keep some for however long for returns. boxes go now. I do have rice cooker, and my crockpot and Blendtec blender. Toilet brushes next to each toilet. plunger in the shop. coffee mugs I have the ones we use routinely and a few more for guests if needed but not a lot. Thank you for the ideas!
You read my mind! Even with ongoing decluttering there are always more surprises hiding in drawers and closets. Finally got rid of an old journal from University days. Sat on the couch, read through it, wondered how I was ever that young. Mimicking Japanese methods I wrapped it in white paper, said thank you, and put it in the trash. PS Books are like people for me. Truly love them.
‘Wondered how I was ever that young’ - ha ha! I feel that! I watched some old home videos the other day and my kids said they didn’t even recognize me! ❤️
Agree with everything except the toilet brushes. Plunger is kept in garage but I have a 3 level home with the primary bedroom and ensuite bath on the top floor and a guest bedroom/bath on lower level. I keep cleaning products for both of these bathrooms on each floor as it's too far to go up and down daily to get a toilet brush!!!
I have two rectangular laundry baskets perched on top of my washer and dryer. Each person is responsible for putting his/her dirty laundry in either the white basket for items that are light colored or in in the blue basket for items that are dark. I can see at a glance when I have a load. Since we wear predominantly cotton, white fuzzies on dark clothing or dark fuzzies on light clothing would be an issue without sorting. Non-colofast laundry doesn’t exist in my house. I’ve never understood having hampers all over.

I am intrigued by the one toilet bowl brush idea. I recently had to throw my mine away so I only have one between an upstairs and a downstairs bathroom. Could you please elaborate on how you do this.
I bought a toilet brush that has a very stylish looking ‘case’ that it’s in - so the brush itself isn’t exposed to the air. I keep it in one bathroom. Then, I go around once per week and just clean all the toilets the same day…and carry that holder around with me. When I’m done I clean out the brush- let it air dry in the garage and store it for next time. ❤️
@@ArrowHillCottagewhat about if someone wants to use it right after they used the toilet? They would have to leave a dirty toilet and go search for the brush in the garage where you store it just to go back to the toilet and clean it? Sorry, but this is ridiculuous.
I guess I’m not understanding how it is getting so dirty? I mean…maybe it’s because we have newer toilets- but everything gets flushed down, if you know what I mean.
as an adhd person, i negate your last point. You might need multiples of sth at each "point of performance just to really 'do the thing' (e.g. clean toilets) Otherwise it might be to much work to get the tool. Or you get sidetracked while getting the tool. Or you more than once forget one of the needed tools and have to walk five times. Or you got sidetracked putting away the tool last time, and now its gone. And, if you have multiples, you can do the task just along the way, you dont have to plan it and its not multiple thigs beeing one big task
When you are 70 it’s hard for friends to know what to gift you for birthdays etc. I regift them. Did make a mistake once gave gift to friend who gave it so me 😧
Donate the suitcases or old backpacks to a shelter for children that have been removed from their homes. In Tucson, we have Casa de los Ninos. They have to carry all of their belongings in a garbage bag when traveling from foster homes.
Ha ha, you are obviousely not the same kind of reader as I am! I reread a lot if my books often, they are like old friends that I visit with. If a book isn't so good that I want to reread it it's hardly worth reading the first time. Having said that, I have decluttered a lot of books, those I found in thrift stores that I thought I might read but never did and some I didn't like enough. Now I mostly stick to authors I know I love or read books I've bought for free on kindle or gotten as ARCs. Keep quite a strict rule on physical books I buy.
Nope the toilet brush is a no go I am not going to tote it from one toilet to the next. It's more unsanitary to be traveling with it all through the house. It is really not a big deal to clean it.
Good ideas, but you lost me at the end. I'll be keeping all the toilet brushes. My family is lazy enough about cleaning the toilet. Expecting them to actually transport a filthy toilet brush is too much.
I did the math based on average fam of 4. Lol. It would take them approx 205 years to use them all (if they all used 1/4 each one item per day lol. Although we use more than one thing a day I suppose. But still 🤯🤯). Now I want to count how many things I actually own and test myself. Or track how many things I use in a day on average. And then compare those numbers. Such as items used per day. Multiply that by average life span. (And don’t count repeat items more than once lol). 😅😅 My aunt just gave me a small George Foreman grill. Lol. I will prob just pass it on. I think I’ve cleared all of those areas, although some of them prob need a review by now. I would say tho that my “trophies” still matter to me as I once lost some of those a long time ago…tragically. Although most of them are very small and fit easily into one memory box with most of the other “precious things.” (Not literal trophies tho. Lol. Mostly it’s just a few small medals and pins and small things like that. Like track, band, etc). I feel like for me, I need to keep “victory” reminders around more than most might would need to. (I try not to live in the past, but I use them to remind myself of current possibilities. Like a kind of faith in myself boost for whatever comes next. And yah I don’t need to keep every little ribbon tho lol). I thought more about my adult son tho when you said trophies and nice boxes. He’s got a lot but I can’t decide for him. He loves nice shoes and also things like components. But granted some shoes he will sell and some components he needs the warranty info and parts and such for. So I’m just gonna let him do his own thing with those. Lol. Oh right yah. My small hamper is also my “laundry basket.” So it’s true. I don’t need one. Lol. (Kinda need the hamper for now tho as we have a communal laundry space).
Keep those reminders! That’s awesome! Also - solidarity on the hamper laundry basket! It really simplifies things for me and makes it so that it isn’t so convenient to just keep clothes in there and them getting all wrinkled! ❤️
@@ArrowHillCottage IKR. Next time someone comes around with that helpless loser crap…go look at the awards. Lol. Nuk. Nuk. Laundry basket. Certifiable perfectionist. It was too much for me. Keeping it all “just so” multiple times…in and out back and forth. One day I was like this is way too much bother. Why do I think I must do all of this? Esp over things like pajamas (nobody is gonna see them and nobody cares-although I still like to be “neat” (prob bordering on ocd stuff like nice stacks etc) but at least I only do it once now…and there’s less of it. 😂😂
@@ArrowHillCottage Oooh! I live in the Netherlands and I’ve always used just one of those plastic things. Dirty, clean, all goes in. (Well, not simultaneously, obviously.)

Disagree on the notebooks for children going to school. Rather a limit like 1 or 2 is ideal i say that cause sometimes back to school shopping is cheaper on those supplies than the rest of the year. However send the old notebooks. Use em up. Then 1 or 2 extra max for the family. If 4+ kids then maybe 3 only. But then if needed in the year yes its ok. Otherwise I would also remain flexible on this if a child seems to prefer writing. Might not be as common but this is a get to know your kids oreferences and work with them. Limits ok, just think the options.
More beneficial to keep in touch with real friends, than re-read something for the tenth time simply because you keep it on a shelf. And you’re probably only revisiting a book for the interesting bits, not the other 683 pages or whatever. At a certain point in your life, you should be reading something as YOU write it, vs. nodding your head to someone else’s ideas or imagination.
This might sound weird - but our toilets flush and clean everything down…so, we only need the brush for standard weekly cleaning. I don’t know if it is because our toilets are newer, or?!?
Sorry ,but I have to say for me books are not consumable items. You can enjoy read a book many times in your life.As a reader I am totally disagree with you.
You are so wrong about books! Kids raised in a house full of books grow up to be reader and great learners. And I own only quality literature that we read over and over again. There are very few books I've only read once and don't intend to reread, those I don't buy in the first place. I agree that the library is a wonderful resource for books you want to test out, or for research.
Oh our kids are/have been absolutely surrounded by books. We check our huge bins from the library every three weeks. They love to read! Our 17 year old just finished the autobiography of Frederick Douglass! ❤️
I enjoyed the video until you mentioned plungers and toilet brushes. I would rather not walk up there flights of stairs and back down to get what I need for one bathroom or other. Yes I think that’s true. And I believe a person can still very much value knowledge but not keep all.the.books - I like having the library do the storage for me! Ha ha! ❤️
@@ArrowHillCottage Same here!
My husband still has his college and graduate school books and notes 😮.
😂
Thanks so much for these tips your videos are really helpful in making it OK to get rid of things I don't need anymore ❤
I'm so glad!
I never buy specific Xmas wrapping paper. I have neutral paper ( kraft paper) which I can customise according to the person/occasion
Smart! ❤️
Plain red, or stripes work for everything but a wedding or new baby....they both get a check or gift card
You’ve got it! Those books are worth keeping for you! The space sounds lovely! ❤️
A pillowcase is a great idea! ❤️
Great list of some commonly overlooked items! I'm sure I have a lifetime supply of gifting supplies, especially considering I'm making pacts with family members not to buy presents for each other anymore.
Ha ha! Yeah - little scraps of wrapping paper thar only would work for a very small item! Ha! ❤️
I was speaking mainly of the entertainment / pleasure type books. I have plenty of reference books as well. Good luck on your move! ❤️
IMHO, bookish is a compliment! I love going into a home with books and browsing the shelves. I'm never decluttering a book unless I actively disliked it.
Some of my husband’s books are rare, out of print. He will never give them up even though they are old and brittle.
I won't give up my books. Reading on screen kills my eyes and gives me the grandmother of all headaches. BTW we have a family of five bookish people and we share a lot of favorites. What's more, I have a bookish niece, who sometimes borrows books from us.
We are finally at the "empty nester" season...no hamper,no laundry baskets!Dirty clothes go right in washer...when it's full,I start it!
Yes! We do that for anything really stained or wet. Don’t put those in the hamper at all. It’s an amazing hack! ❤️
Toss it all together (minus towels) - cold water ONLY for the mix. Warm for towels ❤️
YES, we do the same. 1 load a day. I never have piled laundry. All in the washer together. Unless it's bedding, or any whites.
I managed to make a small photo book of my old trophies and have kept the special ones. So happy to gain that space. I knew that I'd forget what I'd achieved and didn't want to lose that info.
Great idea! ❤️
I agree with almost everything you said. :-) I don't have measuring spoons. I don't measure when I cook meals, and for baking I use the teaspoons & tablespoons from my cutlery and I do just fine.
Wow! I’m not confident enough in the kitchen to get rid of my measuring spoons quite yet! Ha ha! ❤️
I like a toilet brush behind each toilet. Also, big basement with shelves and not much down there, so we keep suitcases. We will probably move again and they can be used for that. They just live on a shelf out of the way.
Good list!
Thank you! ❤️
Thank you for your videos. You're very calm and helpful.
Thank you! ❤️
WHAT?! No books? No movies?! I have to have my books 1. I don’t finish reading them 2. I have to keep them 😊
Ha ha! That sounds like a good formula for a huge home library! ❤️
No actually believe it or not I only have 2 book cases full. I did manage to get rid of a collection. You’d be proud. 🤣
So proud! ❤️
Hurricane Michael made me get rid of several book collections, most were hardback and out of print now...I cried
We have lots of things on your list - wrapping paper, gift bags etc, books, mugs (way to many mugs) teatowels (i normally airdry so don't need) - with the others I am using up and not replacing - and using what we have as plates, mugs etc get broken.
Great! ❤️
If you like keeping that big of a box for that long of time, go for it! ❤️
Yes, good point about reference books! After time certain subjects are no longer relevant! ❤️
I love reading but I don't need a real book. I love my Kindle and the Libby library app.
I haven’t really gotten into e-readers yet personally but I’m sure they are very convenient!!! ❤️
Same here. Though I do occasionally need to request a paper copy of abook fromm library does not have electronically.
I have hooks hanging under kitchen cupboards which are for cups, great space saver
Nice! Good idea! ❤️
I had a hard time getting rid of the medals, ribbons, and trophies. But they are so bulky. Finally just laid them all out, took a picture, printed it, and put it in my memory box. 🙂
Smart, space saving idea. ❤️
People often hang onto books (and magazines) but the issue there is, if you have racks and shelves of them *when* will they all, if any of them save for one or two, be read again (except for maybe the kids, who haven’t read them and only if it’s an interesting read for young adults/children.)
Nah…donate books that just keep collecting dust and silverfish etc. You don’t need musty reminders of your distant past in the form of sagging, creaky shelves.
Ha ha! Great visual! ❤️
Thank you for getting me to think about this!
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching! ❤️
I have a taller laundry basket that I use as a hamper. It is stored in our bedroom closet and when it is full I just grab the whole basket and bring it to the laundry room. It hold about 2 loads of laundry.
Nice! ❤️
You're right about everything. I don't keep Stuff around. Rihht now Im editing my Books Books - preparingto move to anotherState. I only have reference books - on the subjects I've worked with and may need in future. Music history for instance. I'm trying to decide which ones should be kept. Most of them are out of print.
The out of print or rare books are more difficult to part with, for sure! ❤️
Making Sense yeah 😮😊
Great! ❤️
Oh you are cruel.in this one 😁
A laundry basket is a must as I hang my washing outside, weather permitting, or on to a drying rack indoors.
Am not getting rid of my old nursing medals and silver buckle...worked hard for those and still proud. Yes, they are in a drawer along with some of my Mother's paintings, (they are in small books)
And finally, you can never, ever, have too many notebooks. 😁.
All the rest, I agree with and don't have in my house
Ha ha! Didn’t mean to be cruel! You shouldn’t feel bad keeping those items! ❤️
@@ArrowHillCottage It is like the reverse decluttering I tried.......turned out I am surrounded by things that I love and treasure and could never get rid of
I have two small rope laundry baskets... one holds dirty clothes and one bed sheets. They each have a home at the end of my bed with the quilt stand my dad made for me more than 30 years ago.
Yay! Sounds perfect! ❤️
Ha ha! Right! ❤️
That’s crazy. What’s gonna happen when a visitor needs those things? They have to ask you or just leave the mess there ? 😂
Do you have kids?! lol!
I do not have a dryer. We use a clothes line. My grocery lists and receipts are tossed at the same time I toss my MAC and gas recepts. I have been donating our books to the local library to be sold.
A clothes line is something that I would like to invest in - in the near future ❤️
Great tips! The only one that won’t work for us is the plunger 😆
Ha ha! That one seems to catch a lot of people off guard! ❤️
So Excited and peaceful simultaneously when You post. I literally thank God for You. ❤🙂
So sweet! Thank you! ❤️
A great list! I agree with most of them. Shoe boxes are the 1 thing I do not throw out, because I store my shoes in them. Except for the pair I'm wearing of course. And my Harry Potter books are also staying, I read them often. Thanks! ❤
Oh wow. I’ve never heard of a person storing all of their shoes in the boxes themselves. I suppose it keeps them looking great! ❤️
I love your advice so much. Im in the mood to declutter! 😊 The tough one for me will be mugs. 😮. I love them 😊but need to probably get ride if some 😮. Thank you for your awesome videos! Also, my husband has cleaned his office/den and decluttered in there and it looks so clean and huge now so my goal to minimalism as spread 😊❤! He has been doing little bits decluttering and organizing for a while now 😊. He is even ready to get rid of more than I’m able! 😮
That’s so awesome! Teamwork makes the dream work!!! ❤️
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching! Sounds like you have figured out what works best for you! ❤️
Boxes ❤ problem getting rid 😧
great ideas, thanks for sharing
You’re welcome! ❤️
Great hack with the laundry basket, Angela. 👍🏻 Thanks.
I hope it works for you too! ❤️
first time watching you i love your video Thanks for sharing hope to see more video's
Welcome to the channel! Happy you’re here! ❤️
Ha ha! I can understand that! ❤️
I’m a book-aholic. I’ve been thinking about exactly all you say about it. So, tomorrow I’m going to donate them.
If you’ve given it intentional thought and that is the decision you’ve made for yourself - this will be a blessing to you! ❤️
My shoulders couldn’t handle carrying an entire hamper..I use 2 laundry baskets
I have two rectangular laundry baskets perched on top of my washer and dryer. Each person is responsible for putting his/her dirty laundry in either the white basket for items that are light colored or in in the blue basket for items that are dark. I can see at a glance when I have a load. Since we wear predominantly cotton, white fuzzies on dark clothing or dark fuzzies on light clothing would be an issue without sorting. Non-colofast laundry doesn’t exist in my house. I’ve never understood having hampers all over.
That sounds like a very efficient system! ❤️
You are my go to for minimalism. Thank you.
Thank you so much! ❤️
Donate suitcases to children’s services for kids in foster care.
Extra clothes to a school “closet” for primary and middle school kids along with school supplies!❤❤id be keeping wrapping paper due to dollar tree and dollar general closures!
Kids books to libraries for their’book sales’. Never goodwill! CEO makes 2 million a year!
All great ideas! ❤️
Do people do that?!? Scrub immediately after going to the bathroom? Why!?
@@ArrowHillCottage well, I wouldn't leave it dirty for another person, would you?
If that works best for you, then go for it! ❤️
I agree. Who wants more than one plunger?!! 🤢 Ours is kept in the basement utility room.
Right?!? ❤️
When you are 70 it’s hard for friends to know what to gift you for birthdays etc. I regift them. Did make a mistake once gave gift to friend who gave it so me 😧
Uh oh! Ha ha! ❤️
Donate the suitcases or old backpacks to a shelter for children that have been removed from their homes. In Tucson, we have Casa de los Ninos. They have to carry all of their belongings in a garbage bag when traveling from foster homes.
That’s a great idea! ❤️
One clean laundry basket for clean laundry.
Shoe boxes! 😅
Did that one hit you? 😆❤️
@@ArrowHillCottage YES!!!
Yes, I got stuff I don't need.
Great to acknowledge! ❤️
Nope the toilet brush is a no go I am not going to tote it from one toilet to the next. It's more unsanitary to be traveling with it all through the house. It is really not a big deal to clean it.
I maybe failed to mention that our toilet brush has a nice enclosure- making it super convenient, and clean, to carry from room to room. ❤️
We use all our makers
They aren’t clutter to you then! ❤️
Good ideas, but you lost me at the end. I'll be keeping all the toilet brushes. My family is lazy enough about cleaning the toilet. Expecting them to actually transport a filthy toilet brush is too much.
Ha ha! We have one nice toilet brush in a stylish carrying case. Never have to touch the brush at all. Very sanitary! ❤️
My aunt just gave me a small George Foreman grill.
A hamper isn’t the same thing as a laundry basket!? I thought they were synonyms.
Ha ha! For some people, no. Hamper is for dirty clothes and basket is for clean ones! But I don’t see why it can’t be both! ❤️
@@ArrowHillCottage Oooh! I live in the Netherlands and I’ve always used just one of those plastic things. Dirty, clean, all goes in. (Well, not simultaneously, obviously.)
One of thing I’m most fascinated by having a YT channel are the insights people from other countries have! We definitely have some interesting quirks here in America! ❤️
not the books, I live in a library, always have. Books are never clutter. get shelving and bookcases.
Books aren’t clutter to you! Awesome! For many people though - the space could be better used than with books they aren’t reading or enjoying ❤️
As long as they get used up! I was in the habit of stashing them away and then would forget they were even there/available! ❤️
I just use a large bag instead of a laundry basket. I can fold it and store it away out of sight
Smart! ❤️
Disagree about books. Books are friends, we revisit them
Enjoy the books then! They aren’t clutter to you at all! ❤️
More beneficial to keep in touch with real friends, than re-read something for the tenth time simply because you keep it on a shelf.
And you’re probably only revisiting a book for the interesting bits, not the other 683 pages or whatever. At a certain point in your life, you should be reading something as YOU write it, vs. nodding your head to someone else’s ideas or imagination.
wait, do you really go grab a toilet brush somewhere if you poo and you need it??? what if a guest needs it??
This might sound weird - but our toilets flush and clean everything down…so, we only need the brush for standard weekly cleaning. I don’t know if it is because our toilets are newer, or?!?
@ArrowHillCottage I wish my toilets were the same, because my kids don't seem to know what's the toilet brush for 🤣
Ha ha! Sorry to hear that! ❤️
Sorry ,but I have to say for me books are not consumable items. You can enjoy read a book many times in your life.As a reader I am totally disagree with you.
That’s fair! It’s ok to disagree! ❤️
Have you been in my house? Lmbo
Ha ha! Do some of these ring a bell?
The "makers" drive me nuts. Seriously I can do a much better job with rice in a saucepan on the stove. And faster too
Yeah - I just don’t understand them…❤️
I keep my shoes in their shoebox. It keeps the dust off.
You’re the second person who has said that! I’ve never even considered that! I bet it does keep them pretty clean! ❤️
I also prefer to keep the instruction manuals if needed so I don't have to spend hours online trying to find them. I may not use them, but at least I know where they are.
That’s ok! You can keep what you want! ❤️
💖💖💖
