Hello all, the captain of this replay here. O7 First of all thank you Jingles for featuring me. Your commentary was spot on as always. Secondly I would like to thank everyone that watch this video and maybe comment it and liked it. I'm a mediocre captain at best so this warms my heart very much. If you don't like it that is cool too. :) I also 100% agree people that disagree with my choices and/or what I did or did not do. We all have room to improve. As there are quite a lot of comments I might not be able to reply to all so here is a summary. "You suck at torping": That is very true! :D "Why U not smoke?": In my experience smokes draw a lot of attention. If I use smoke enemy team will have their full attention focused on me. Map pinging, hydroes, CV etc. Also in this match my thinking was that I must stay hidden and/or move quickly in the most of the situations. Using smoke would not help me to achieve those goals. "Why U not repair": Fair point again. I had couple of resources in this match. I cant regenerate health so that is my main concern most of the time. OK, my engine or rudder is broken but I have Last Stand. So I can keep on going with those broken things but catching a permanent fire is a bad thing. "Why U not aggressive?": In this match this playstyle paid off. Sometimes it does, sometimes not. "Your position was bad and dangerous": True. But in my thinking I could have disengaged when needed. That Mino luckily decided not to hunt me. There were awesome players in this match, friendlies and enemies. The enemy div was awesome and GL was the most worthly enemy one could hope for. Friendly Amagi was the chad of this mtach with crucial kills and damage dealt. Unfortunately there was some bad language and needless negative waves. I honestly believe that we all make mistakes so perhaps you give some slack to others and focus on supporting your teammates. Anyways, this has become a far too long comment already so Fair Winds and Following Seas to everyone. :)
Suboptimal plays or not, I think your careful thinking about how to engage more and stronger opponents safely(-ish), would have made the Finns who fought in the Winter War very proud!

Let’s give credit to the Golden Lion, he was a very very good player, he knew he had to go for that destroyer and he did his utter best but our friend in the Fletcher might have been Thrawn from StarWars.
Thats what I do back in 2017-19 I believe (before the cv reworks) with fubuki just roaming around between cap without detected (unless with aircraft) and launched single torp set at various enemy as I can and point win with solo warrior. Now its almost impossible to play stealthly and I dont play it again since cv rework.
Yeah, unfortunately you can only rarely play this way in todays meta with a DD because of the shit you gotta deal with. Planes spotting you, radar spotting you, subs hunting you. There is little reason to be so passive when chances are you're gonna get spotted or flushed out of position anyway.
What's the most dangerous thing in this game besides Aircraft Carriers? A Destroyer captain who's capable of thinking and breathing at the same time! Props to MarderFin for a well played Destroyer game, showing what a cold calculating and patient Destroyer Captain can do!
The graphics in this game just keep getting better. The fog combined with the foam on the water and the way the ship rocks violently on the waves all make it feel like colorized wartime footage.
Not only that but I think they updated the graphics on some of the operations too. If you play Killer Whale, the water now looks even more realistic, with some choppy spots closer to shore, and then some more peaceful spots in more open water.
I've only watched the video until about 11:58 yet so I don't know what is yet to come about this. But that U-2501 first used it's Submarine Surveillance at 5:18 so it went off at 6:18. The cooldown is normally 2 minutes and was about 1 minute and 48 seconds in this case so he activated it again at 8:05. This lasted until 9:05 and the cooldown went until about 10:53. So he could not activate it earlier. It was still on cooldown. The fact that the enemy sub was not visible on the second activation is a sign that it probably was at the surface as they are only shown if submerged. So he possibly could have spotted it if he went to the surface as well or maybe a rough localization with the hydrophone. Considering the Vladivostok had a line of sight to shoot at him and the enemy U-2501 would have spotted him too it would have been risky to surface. Therefore there was almost nothing the friendly U-2501 could have done. The Amagi is the only one to blame for not noticing the enemy sub not beeing spottet between 8:06 and 9:06 and possibly should have been more cautious. The enemy sub wasn't even spotted on the third activation of Submarine Surveillance between 10:57 and 11:57 as it probably still is surfaced. Edit: Actually during the 8:05-9:05 activation the enemy sub has also activated the Submarine Surveillance so the Vladivostok did launch some depth charges at him. So as soon as he got spotted there I probably would have surfaced to get the enemy U-2501 spotted too. It still would have been risky as the main guns of a bb are additionally more of a threat than just the depth charges. So it is hard to tell. This could have changed things a bit. This was maybe the worst part of the friendly subs play, not the 'late' use of the Submarine Surveillance.
@@ZenoDovahkiin same as CV players - always good to have a scapegoat handy..... especially fun if the offended complainer has little or no clue of another class' mechanics

Almost every game, or at least the vast majority over the last 2-3 weeks if not month. They especially love to do this when the opposite red is a shitakaze who can them torp spam half the map - while never being spotted. Even in a JB the Golden Lion airstrikes are pretty easy to avoid - esp the floaty bag things they drop.

Hi! As "The Captain" of this video I thank you for your kind words. This video is over an year old but I'm most happy that it still brings enjoyment. :)
To be fair to the U-2501 on marderFIN's team, the U-2501's sub surveillance was likely still on cooldown. At 8:05 you can see it activate (1 minute use, 2 minute cooldown without flags/skills) and at 10:56 the U-2501 activated it again. This is a pattern you can see throughout the match from the U-2501 until it was sunk.
I have watched hundreds of WOWs replays. This is a truly impressive demonstration of skill and battle smarts. I actually downloaded it hoping to learn DD play from it. He should rename himself “ cool hand Luke”. Gday Jingkes.
Earlier in the battle, the U-2501 used his surveillance. It was most likely on cooldown until after the Amagi died. (I haven't played in a while, not sure how long the cooldown is)
Yes it was. He used it at 5:18-6:18 and at 8:05-9:05 so the cooldown went off just about at 10:53. Base preparation is 5 minutes 30 seconds. It is active for 1 minute and base cooldown is 2 minutes. On the second and third time using it the enemy sub wasn't spotted. So he was probably at the surface. Surfacing could have given the position of the enemy sub but the enemy would have also spotted him with a Vladivostok in line of sight to shoot at him. The only option would have been Hydrophone to get a general idea of the position without actually spotting the enemy sub. The Amagi should have paid more attention and should have been more cautious.

Finaly a battle worth watching, Thank you Jingles... There are still players with brains in game... But then again Jingles always send video's worth watching
The point you were getting at starting around the 8 minute mark I think was particularly well expressed by Admiral Nimitz instructing his battlegroup Admirals: "You will be governed by the principle of calculated risk which you shall interpret to mean the avoidance of exposure of your force to attack by superior enemy forces without good prospect of inflicting, as a result of such exposure, greater damage to the enemy." Calculated Risk is the term we across the pond here use routinely to refer to that strategy.
damn man, upon spotting the title i immediately thought Jingles was featuring a submarine game. however, now i have watched the video i am very happy to have watched this master class in using a destroyer.
What an amazing display by that destroyer driver, as this old man says, never underestimate a thinking man under a hat, because if you can't get the sun in his eyes, he won't make a mistake, and chances are you will... Marder there seems to have a really big hat. Sombrero maybe? On a Finn? Whatever, it kept the sun out of his eyes and honestly it never even felt like the other team was going to win, the question was how they would fail. I can only assume the suddenly immobile battleship lost his internet connection? At least he has an excuse for defeat, the rest of them were just flat out beaten.
@@marder_fin That may be true, but by then they should have realized you were not behaving as they expected. There is an old expression. that every great game is actually mostly just a bad opposition, but this game is an example of why sometimes that is not the case.
This is why I love my Swedish DDs: I you can safely open up on most enemy DDs in situations like the spotting of the enemy DD at the start. Because you have a heal the return fire isn’t that much of an issue. Especially worth it if the enemy DD doesn’t have a heal of their own!
This is pure teamplay commitment. Winning game by doing his job without actual need to do any high damage numbers. Awesome stuff to watch. Amazing game, well deserved both Kraken and Absolute Chad awards!
Thank you Jingles you never fail to put out amazing content! One of the few content creators who I always click the like button before even watching the video...lol
"Nik, don't kill the Kaga. I need the heal." Turns out that the "quick draw" Gouden Leeuw has some downsides. He doesn't know when not to use them. Well played though Marder. I've met a lot of destroyer captains that would have lost that.
Solid play, well deserved victory. One small caveat: It only happened because he didn't have the CV up his ass the entire match. Which, from personal experience, is what normally happens when you're the only DD on your team.
8 minutes in: "now isn't the time" reminded me of that line from The Pink Panther-"Now is Not the time Juju!" *then later "Now, Now is the time!" 12 minutes in: Our CV isn't human in chat- LoL
what a shocker that the dude bitching the whole time in chat finished bottom 5 on his team . . . the toxic ones always do . . . well played Fletcher game - as an average player who plays mainly BBs and heavy cruisers, I've been sunk by Fletchers probably more than any other ship . . . they're always a pita to play against
Someone was channeling taffy 3 pretty hard. Everything's exploding & what you see isn't matching expectations. Wonder how many of the other team rechecked the line up looking for a benson or something because fletchers are notorious gunship destroyers.?
I used to try and play DDs like this... but the angry yelling from your own team, who are not likely to understand what you're doing, can really impact your mental health, and it's very hard to retain your composure if somebody bum-rushes you. Charging a hiding DD's position can be a surprisingly effective counter to this kind of play, especially after you've just seen their torpedoes go by.
@@marder_fin Thanks, man... I don't play anymore, I got sick of WG's BS and I was starting to become a toxic player, so I decided it wasn't doing what I needed a game to do. But you show great leadership skill with that simple, honest reply!
That and Jingles saying Fin could rely on the friendly Takahashi being able to beat the enemy Minotaur. One of the best light cruisers against one of the worst. All things being equal of course a Mino is going to dumpster a Takahashi.
@@empress_alex - The highlight of the entire line is the T6 Gokashi. The higher tier ships drop off the fun meter very quickly. The T8 to T10 ships have excellent 360 degree fast turning turrets, with lots of guns (T8 and T9 have 15 guns, T10 has 18 guns). But their crews hand make each shell in real time before loading them into the guns. Every shell, every gun, every time you fire them. Plus they are huge boats, with atrocious turning circles. The T10 Yodo even has a larger turning circle than the Yamato. Seriously.
"The matchmaker should probably just been a stripper." You, sir, owe me a new computer screen. Or at least advice on how to get coffee out of the bezel.
The issue I have with the Amagi (and something you missed) is that the friendly U-2501 HAD been using his submarine surveillance, it was likely on cooldown when the Amagi got torped. You can't do much when your button isnt up lol
Not only was MangoMaster childish, but in purposely giving away the sub's position to the enemy in chat, he was also a traitor. Funny how a little stress shows you the true character of a man.
I don‘t know if that messes up the titles, but since I get a LOT of information out of these videos (next to the great entertainment value) it‘d be super helpful if the title had the name of the ship in it. Currently struggling for the Edinburgh and a YT search for „Jingles Edinburgh“ would save me a lot of nerves. Thank you for your content, it makes my day multiple times a week
Overall that was a really solid game from all involved. Seemed fairly even for long enough that the fletcher was able to spot and not get too involved early
I play my Shima a lot and I loved this game. I'm not terrified to use my guns like some Japanese DD players, but it's all about having a plan--mostly an escape plan.
I play the Asashio mainly, It has very little to fight with, and mainly is put in T10 missions. it is a real challenge, and fun to mix it up with this ship
Whenever I am in similar situations, the miracle that you see in this video never happens. The CV finds you, the enemy dodges the torps just well enough, and there is never a Solo Warrior award :(

Solid play, well deserved victory. One small caveat: It only happened because he didn't have the CV up his ass the entire match. Which, from personal experience, is what normally happens when you're the only DD on your team.
I think that CV did not focus on me because most off the time I was not doing anything actively. Just chilling and cruising
Wow reserved and controlled for the win
My team did great. Amagi, sub and all
8 minutes in: "now isn't the time" reminded me of that line from The Pink Panther-"Now is Not the time Juju!" *then later "Now, Now is the time!" 12 minutes in: Our CV isn't human in chat- LoL
Finally a Fletcher video!!!
I go on and off of youtube series' but I haven't missed a single Jingles WoWS episode for years
what a shocker that the dude bitching the whole time in chat finished bottom 5 on his team . . . the toxic ones always do . . . well played Fletcher game - as an average player who plays mainly BBs and heavy cruisers, I've been sunk by Fletchers probably more than any other ship . . . they're always a pita to play against
can breath and think at the same time!!! RESPECT
For the last minutes my palms were sweating heavily and I might have forgotten to breath! :D
Yes, great win! Excellent DD player!
Thanks Jingles!
Nice video. Great to see good DD play featured.
Thank you mate!
Someone was channeling taffy 3 pretty hard. Everything's exploding & what you see isn't matching expectations. Wonder how many of the other team rechecked the line up looking for a benson or something because fletchers are notorious gunship destroyers.?
Great comparison! 👍
Wow, big brain energy the whole game. GG.
I had great friendlies in this match. And great enemies too! 👍
Sometimes this gameplay does not work. But just give your best in every game and that is all that I ask for as a teammate :)
@@marder_fin Thanks, man... I don't play anymore, I got sick of WG's BS and I was starting to become a toxic player, so I decided it wasn't doing what I needed a game to do. But you show great leadership skill with that simple, honest reply!
This was brilliant destroyer work. 🙂👍
This game was so incredibly enjoyable to watch compared to the guns blazing ones!
Ong gives you a fuzzy feelin ngl
@@jezuznevweraz8800 WoWS ASMR?
great game there, a master class in how to use a destroyer.
I giggled when you said the Takahashi was a very dangerous light cruiser.
I've been living under a rock in terms if Warships recently.
Are the Japanese light cruisers pretty bad?
@@empress_alex Some of the worst in the game, every one of them lol
Seriously.

I think the enemy Vittorio Veneto ran aground and got himself stuck on the island.
Or had disconnecting issues or some real life things to do? It is just a game, other things are important too 👍
"The matchmaker should probably just been a stripper." You, sir, owe me a new computer screen. Or at least advice on how to get coffee out of the bezel.
Looked like the Veneto's captain lost connection.
I think that it just happened there
That was such a great match! So well played. Much better than the 200k blowouts. But in the times of CVs incredible rare.
Fascinating!!!
You didn't say "Stay Safe". I'm gonna go run with scissors now.
The issue I have with the Amagi (and something you missed) is that the friendly U-2501 HAD been using his submarine surveillance, it was likely on cooldown when the Amagi got torped. You can't do much when your button isnt up lol
What a game! Very nicely done marderFIN
Thank you!
Not only was MangoMaster childish, but in purposely giving away the sub's position to the enemy in chat, he was also a traitor. Funny how a little stress shows you the true character of a man.
One of the best games I've seen. Powered by the brain rather than the left mouse button...
😎
I don‘t know if that messes up the titles, but since I get a LOT of information out of these videos (next to the great entertainment value) it‘d be super helpful if the title had the name of the ship in it.
Currently struggling for the Edinburgh and a YT search for „Jingles Edinburgh“ would save me a lot of nerves.
Thank you for your content, it makes my day multiple times a week
Like Lord Vader once said: impressive, most impressive.
Silent Hunter was actually a good Submarine sim.
Goddamn, that BB player is more salty then the ocean...
You sneaky bloody... well played
Thank you! :D
Have not played this game in a minute. WOW.
The CV finds you, the enemy dodges the torps just well enough, and there is never a Solo Warrior award :(
You gotta complement that Gouden Leeuw captain. He plays like a veteran
That Captain was very skilled indeed
@marder_FIN I'd love to be that skills especially with those airstrikes
stay safe jingles and the rest of you as well, or our mighty gnome overlord will get ya
Excellent video and analysis sir.
Jingles made awesome commentary as usual 👍
Hmmm, I sense something new here, Jingles? Very well played, Marder_ FIN.
Thank you, there really seems to be something new
that was brilliant. Thank you.
Very well played game. The Fletcher driver was very skillful by
Thank you! :D
And thats why you dont go to war against the Finns!
Perkele! :D
that was a really good play, i know my trigger finger wouldnt have been as controlled as his
I love Mr. Jingle's laugh. It sounds so fake and forced. Love it.
Yup well played for sure.
Thanks mate!
Very enjoyable game thx jingles, watched it in the bathtub this morning.
Did you have a rubber duck?
@@marder_fin nah sadly those childhood days are long gone.
