    It's nice to know that I wasn't the only one scratching his head with some of the buildings and what they do. The one thing I did find out (it took a lot of looking around in the game itself) is that the power in the space station is not transferable to you, it's just for the station itself. I still cannot believe how many Ignium nodes you have on your map, I am starving for Ignium. Soon you will be going full solar (I already have) and you won't have to rely on a fuel source.👍👍

      I have been told that I got lucky with my map, I don't know. I am looking forward to solar especially at the remote mining outposts

    It was a shock discovering what you needed to do to get Firmalite bars. I was speed-running the tech. And yes, I initially wondered where it could be found too. Although it wasn't all that bad tp complete once I knew what was required. But again it was a case of hurry up and wait. Again.

      Indeed. Speed running could be tough in this one.

    @19:25 Space station construction is good as it reduces the wait time for each upgrade to happen. I also recommend building the scanning building as it will really open up the map. I utilize elevators for almost every mine to reduce the amount of ugly holes everywhere and much easier to get resources to the surface. I built an ore mine yesterday to get to Ore under a river and never had to deal with the water. Elevator on the shore and explosive tunnel to ore under the river and bang job done.

      Tip for elevator placement. I build a platform over the area I want to setup elevator, cut out a 5x6 hole and fill with dirt then place elevator. Do the same for freight only I use two and they are 3x4 each, this keeps most of my base all at the same elevation and I only have to run belts below foundation for routing to different areas to make things a little neater. Don't look under my foundations. lol

      Wow, a lot of good info. I would never look under anyone's foundation. I know what mine look like.

    I am bringing everything back to where i landed, centralizing everything, want to get to endgame first to get a handle on all the things needed for next playthrough. It's kinda a lot of different stuff that needs to be produced. But i must admit that i would like some better conveyer lifts, the slope takes a lot of room and/or takes a long time to build between floors. And thank god i did 9 spaces between floors :( but did not want smoke from the smelters going through the floors.
    By the way, did you discover that you can dismantle the drop pod you arrived in? It's not really needed once you set up smelters, and it bothered me as i built a bit too close and it was in the way.

    • @surtrplays
      @surtrplays  5 місяців тому +1

      I didn't know you could dismantle the drop pod. That is awesome as long as you can rebuild it because I wasn't it in my final base and you need to to customize your character. I am still figuring things out but this is probably not what my factory is going to look like in the end.

    I was looking at the start screens and there appears to be some really massive buildings that you have to eventually build. Good thing there is plenty of space to build. I am assuming, considering how most of these factory games go, there will be better power tiers up to nuclear or maybe even fusion. I suspect that process is going to be hella complicated too. Since I am using a distributed model for my factory, I am experimenting with underground transport lanes between the different sections. I have a research hub, a smelting hub, etc. You can set waypoints and use those as markers which is handy. It is expandable and I can integrate them into the elevators when I get to them. Just an experiment so far, so I am not sure if it is workable system.

      @surtrplays  5 місяців тому +2

      It does look like there will be a lot of big buildings but I haven't really figured out what the best layout would be. I almost feel like the bus system is not the best option. I'm thinking that a decentralized system of factories would be better and easier to control incoming resources. Smelting could have its own facility and you could upgrade it based on the needs of other factories as they grow, using balancers to control their inputs. Once I am more informed, I will start changing things up. You do get time to change things while waiting for research.

      @@surtrplays One of the reasons I am going underground is that on my map, the resource nodes have flipped-flopped from my start position. Going underground is easier to route and doesn't mess with the topside installation. That is the theory at least.

    I believe you can make solar panels now. Can they be used to provide more power for you or are they just an item needed to craft something else? If you can use them maybe that could help your grid by putting them on a mountain.

      @surtrplays  5 місяців тому +1

      I have plans for upcoming growth and solar panels are a big part of that. Thanks.

    So u know after finsh sale platfalm 2 new while tabs add to the station menu, your on the upgrade tab theres sales and a veiw station tab, or just look up at the station u can see each repair u do to it

      Funny you should mention that, I was messing around earlier, getting ready to record and I found those tabs. Thank I looked up and the space station was almost fixed. Very cool. Thanks.

    Science can not be done at individual stations. I'm running a line of 10 research stations feeding two belts per side now... will have 3 belts per once I'm done. I need to build Tier 3 belts and setup Firmarlite smelting next. Want the belts first as I now need to retool a bunch of stuff for the upgraded crushers and smelters.
