- The SAAB 9-5 rear end springs notoriously sag over time.. when those springs sag the rear tires have too much camber and the inside of the tires wear out prematurely. This is a quick fix that any SAAB enthusiast can do. If you can change a shock, you can do do this mod.

In my opinion, if you are going to spend the time taking your car's suspension apart why not do it right, and put new springs in?
On my 2008 9-5 Aero I installed new Abbott springs(not much lower than stock height), the new KONI FSD shock absorbers with "Special Active technology", and new bump stops. Also new springs and KONI FSD struts up front too. The ride is heavenly, and handling is amazing with that combination. Do it right, replace those junky parts!
Great video. Only one I could find showing the same suspension set up I have on my 2004 aero.
This is incorrect procedure for camber adjustment on SAAB 9-5. There is a procedure of installation or removal of camber adjustment shims on rear without suspension disassembly. It is available from SAAB service manual - SAAB WIS. It is now available free of charge to view online. Just google for SAAB WIS Online... Of course, warn and leaked out shocks, and old rubber bushings are causing suspension to sag, and offset camber angle. For that reason, it is advisable to replace old shocks first, and then check, if camber needs any further adjustment.
Rear sag is caused by the bushings wearing. You can tell by the way the wheels camber inwards at the top. If the springs are sagging, replace them. Don't shim them.
and which bushings?
Ruined the look. Way too high now. The negative camber is caused by control arm worn bushings and springs. Replace them to do the job right.
Any update? How are they holding up?
I would check the rear control arm bushings first...
Good tip, they can wear out. Though SAABs are plagued with sagging rear springs, super common, especially on the 9-5 Wagon.
Shim height clarification. I had the shim cut at 3/4".. after the cut was done, the OAL was about 5/8". The rise at the rear wheel was 3/4" after installation, making the total distance from the bottom of the rim to the fender was 23-3/4" after all was said and done.
you didn't replace the spring coils , would that solve the issue , or do you need to use the shims still?
@@randyeastman4500 yes new springs would solve the issue. They sag. But shims are cheaper than Springs. Thanks!
Why not put the spacer on top of the ring instead of below it? I’d think it would be more stable, being that the ring thickness is much less for that extra weld it sits on…..on the shock.
Fkd shocks make the suspension sag also. Just like in my 07 95 aero right now. Rear end sagging, both shocks empty. Guess what I'm buying tomorrow. New shocks. Same springs.
did it work
@@binladendersuperstar yes it did.
@@binladendersuperstar don't have the car now but please make to to buy the correct damper and spring. For aero spec
Thx for replying. I already renewed the spring's... Thar changed nothing... Now i believe my shocks are gone bad... Also replaces bushings... Still missing 35mm
