I ran that same motor hard for twenty years. 100% reliable, no repairs and regular maintenance.

Love everything about it...sound while idling, 2 stroke smell, 3 piece cowling, etc.

Our 50's Buccaneer 35 had a bigger cowling than that! Love how the outboards evolved.

@@migmag_9789 just bought a 4-stroke and I miss the smell of my old Johnson soooooo much. I don’t however miss how much of a pain in the ass that motor was 😂

@JackWiliams My grandfather had a 67 Glastron with a V4 Johnson he bought new, just recently sold it.
I'm now looking for my own boat to buy with multiple friends to take out, I want a 2 stroke just for the smell and sound like I remember, even if I have more trouble.

@@migmag_9789 more trouble? as long as you maintain it and run synthetic fuel through it before storage, and always use fresh 90+ octane in spring, they are extremely reliable. 95% of issues stem from ignorant owners, not the motor.

I just bought a 1998 Bayliner trophy 1903 with a 150 hp Black max. It looks just like this one. I have been struggling to find the year of the motor. I hope mine runs this good.

Loved this motor..too much for this boat. Scary opening it up and boat trying to stay in the water.

sounds great but careful with that single cable steering, no jackplate and surfacing prop w. nosecone. would make it much faster but more importantly more controllable with much better cruise economy.

Awesome. I have a 1984 I rebuilt. Runs like a champ just like yours. Great machine. Did you keep you automatic oiler or delete it?

At 4:20, those look like tall fir trees to me. I think it would have to be high elevation, and probably in the Central U.S., somewhere in the Rockies. Judging from the steepness of the mountains, that's probably some deep water too.
