    Thank you so much for sharing your videos! I’m new to a used Merc 135HP and rebuilt my own carburetors thanks to you, great to link and sync also. It wasn’t my issue for high end, I replaced the power packs and just hit 49MPH today before I was maxing out at 31MPH

    You're missing the plastic cup for the shift cable where it's held at the mounting bracket. The throttle cable will have a bit of play or shift, at that point. I just made a new one for one of my 96' 225 mercs for the same reason. It makes a difference with the throttle response.

      Hoping to see how you do your timing. I’m currently stuck with my 90hp mariner. Did the timing on it after following manual to the T. Currently it idles great, on the water, full throttle rpm @5800 rpm and 4 mph slower the before. Can’t figure out why that is.
      Looking forward to comparing your video along with the small handful of others I’ve been watching.

    You should really make a video on how to link and since and adjust timing on a 2.5 efi motors!!! That would be so greatly appreciated for me and many others!! 😁😊

    Excellent video. Question Sir. If timing is correct and you pull carbs to clean, after the link and sync, do you have to retime? I see you did not. All I did was clean the carbs. Thanks

    • @ProWrenching
      @ProWrenching  2 місяці тому +1

      Thanks! No, you don’t need to adjust the engine timing after cleaning the carbs

    I have a 1994 Mercury Black Max 135 HP Motor. I haven't been able to start it after taking it out of storage. It has lots of spark. Fuel is getting to the cylinders. Compression is at 100 on all but one cylinder. I've had all 3 carbs off. They are pretty spotless. Floats move freely. It will not fire at all. I have even tried starting fluid with no success.It looks like you have exactly the same motor so was hoping you could suggest anything else to look at. Watched all your videos. They are very good.
    Regards,Eric Sundgaard

      Maybe the engine is flooded. I would replace the spark plugs or at least clean them and try to start again.

      @ericsundgaard920 Рік тому +1

      @@ProWrenching Thanks for getting back so quickly. I've had the plugs out several times and also changed them out. Still won't even fire at all. I've had the boat since it was new and the last couple of years it has been difficult to start, but never this bad.

      @ProWrenching  Рік тому +1

      @@ericsundgaard920 so- if you are getting fuel and spark at the right time it should run. Have you checked the engine timing?

    • @ericsundgaard920
      @ericsundgaard920 Рік тому +2

      @@ProWrenching I haven't checked that. I didn't think it could get out from just sitting there, but worth a check as nothing else seems to be wrong. I will have to figure out how to do it and will need to borrow a timing light.

    • @ProWrenching
      @ProWrenching  Рік тому

      @@ericsundgaard920 if the motor was running when it was last used, then I would think the most likely issue would be a fuel problem. I would think that the fuel probably dried up and gummed up the carburetors. There is also a major issue if the fuel had ethanol in it and was parked a long time, ethanol fuel goes bad and won’t burn at all eventually. You can smell the fuel to see if it smells bad. if it does, I would definitely remove that fuel from the fuel tank. Replace with good fuel. However, if that was only if your problem, then it should be able to start with starting fluid if you were getting spark at the correct time which led me back to- I think you need to check your timing.
