With two small children running around, it is hard for my husband and me to get to the gym. This year, we are dedicated to creating a space inside our home to work out. The only unused space available is our unfinished storage room in the basement.
For steps go to the This Old House website [www.thisoldhouse.com/e/22658291].

Building a home gym in a storage room: step-by-step
    1. Enclose a storage space with closet doors
    2. Waterproof a cinderblock wall
    3. Frame and paint the closet doors
    4. Install the laminate plank flooring wood wall
    5. Install DIY indirect LED lighting
    6. Install rubber floor tiles
    7. Add wood plant wall planter

I definitely found some inspiration in watching this project. I may not be in the market for a home gym, but the designs and methods port to plenty of other contexts, too. Thank you!

I used stick on carpet squares for my gym wall which was a great surface for doing wall stretches.

I have had luck with using Gorilla tape to tie the back side of the tiles together which keeps them from popping out of place and sliding around.

I have been wondering about that. I have a mudroom that I turned into a gym and I am trying to figure out something for flooring. The floor is in a basement and is pretty uneven, even for a basement. My first concern is that the uneven floor will cause issues, and my second was that they would slide around even if the floor was even. But the tape has kept them in place for you well it sounds like?

There's a company not far from where I live that makes rubber flooring that is similar. The company is called E-core, but I'm not sure they make interlocking tiles like these.

I would have liked to seen a list of materials used in the description (like the led indirect light brackets), along with a longer look at the finished project.

I would need a fan or air circulation in that small room.

how did you get the shot at the end in the mirror without seeing the camera/operator, were they just edited out or was there some more trickery involved
    great video

I think it's just a photo that they are dragging up so it looks like a shot and I believe they just did some photoshopping to remove the person taking the picture from the background. Actually if you look at the wood, it kind of looks like there's the silhouette of a person

Frugal is good 👍 if you can build it yourself. I've always had the funds to upgrade my home. But on the first project I did was replace the carpet in a bedroom. After I got a quote.
I got on U-Tube with excellent 👌 instruction. The Salesman gave me great pro advise and all item's needed it took me 3 Day's as I'm a detail guy. I saved, $2,300.00 Bucks.
Don't get me wrong throughout the year's I know what I can tackle and cannot. 😉😉😉😉😉

Looks nice. Not much of a gym without some real equipment. Power rack w/pullup bar, deadlift area and bench are minimum for any real work.
