War Thunder's Toxicity Problem

- After playing War Thunder for so long, the constant infighting within the community is starting to stand out now more than ever. Some of it can be blamed on Gaijin, but players have a choice in how they act, both in-game and otherwise.

What makes it worse, is that Gaijin adresses toxicity, by claiming that cursing will increase the ESRB rating, when games like Fortnite are still Teen rated, with the most toxic communities ever.
So despite having a much higher ESRB rating, they refuse to put swastikas in the game? Even for Finland?
I got chat banned for being toxic. I have gladly served the f2p community.
@@irinashidou9524 its not because of the rating, some countries (like germany) ban swastikas from video games.

I think part of the problem is that the tryhards congregate in Realistic Battles mode, and tanks seem to attract most of those.
@@kyleheins Not many people like flying a single plane and dying to a P-51 mustang in Air RB :P at least in Ground RB you can use all of your crews if you play okay and dont die instantly in every engagement.
As a former League of Legends and RB6 Siege player, War Thunder's toxicity is at such low level in comparison that it doesn't even register to me.
Yeah If you ask me it's not even a problem, I've played for 3 years now and never received a death threat once, or been targeted once. In games like RB6 people actively abuse and TK you just because you have bad aim.
Yeah, I don't get what people are talking about regarding toxicity in War Thunder. I mean sure, you get fan mail every once in a while, but other than that, nothing. Compared to League where you will get flamed almost every game, both from your teammates and the enemy team...
Playing it since Planes came first out, never even noticed that something like this exists in war thunder.Or maybe again one of these topics creat a problem where before was none?
I rembemer when people TK me with no reason and I get my revenge with a C4.
I would say it's more about the subreddit. That place is toxic af
Frustration is DIRECTLY tied to Toxicity. There is always Toxicity in everything. But when your experience depended entirely on random people it multiplies the problem.
Especially in a game that forces you to be on a team but punishes teamplay.
That’s why I pretty much only play war thunder in squads with people I know
@@naamadossantossilva4736 like every team game in existence. Then add in anonymity and tie rewards and progression to these randomly selected anonymous people you don't know's performance in this match. It's a recipe for everyone to hate everyone else in every game, it's nuts. Random matchmaking team-based games will always suck the fun out of you over time.
But in this regard, I've found War Thunder's community to react less to those inputs. Usually it's just attempts at helpful pings and a gramercy or two on assists. One in ten games someone gets frustrated (like myself occasionally) and calls out someone else. And that's it.
With the forced Aircraft in the GROUND realistic battles it's kinda inevitable for there to be a lot of frustration with the magical planes spinning around.
no amount of frustration can justify conscious actions like sending death threats and doxxing.
Gaijin breeds toxicity because they themselves are toxic. From their interaction with the player base through their mod teams to the op premiums they launch causing grief.
And what's wrong with our mod team?
@@rickpilhorn One mod who I will not name out of genuine concern out of retaliation is a total douche to players, and treats any criticism of the developers or game as a reason to ban. Last time he banned me, it was for asking how such a buggy patch had been released and not fixed after a week. No personal attacks on anyone, no swearing, just bewilderment at the state of the game.
My favorite statement from him is that the game is f2p so its free of criticism. Meanwhile my game still tells me my 1 year premium account has expired, 4 years after it expired each time I login, and asks for money to renew.
@@Quadrenaro Every mod answers to someone. If you have a complaint about how you were treated then PM his boss. But something I've learned from being a senior moderator for so long is that everyone is innocent, until we look up what was actually said. And every ban comes with the rule(s) that was violated. Good luck.
@@rickpilhorn Yeah, this guys behavior is extremely obvious. If he's not been dealt with after all these years, with all the memes about him, I don't think me saying anything will help.
Edit: Once in a match, I was trash talking the dev team after the broke the Me163's ground spawn again (The thing spawned half in the ground and instant killed the pilot). About an hour later, I get a message from this mod and in a pretty unprofessional manner, he eluded to how I was lucky he's not banning me for disrespecting the devs, like they were some sort of god like beings. Seriously, it was like something out of the soviet union.
Edit2: Actually in 2015 or 16, I did message a mod about some abuse. He basically said stfu, and when I followed up a month later, I was chat banned.
@@Quadrenaro Remember back in like 2013 when the CEO OF GAIJIN went onto the forum and created a poll asking the players of they supported us of DMCA takedowns on UA-cam as a way to muzzle content creators who criticized the game? Forget that fact that doing so is *illegal* and draconian. Shit talking their game isn't allowed. I made a support ticket one because I unlocked the P-80A and in stock form, on RB, I spawned on the runway too close to the end to gain enough speed to take off (runway ended in a cliff, with a like a 10ft drop into trees that I couldn't clear, then a big drop into the sea). There was like 400 more feet of runway behind the spawn point, and I played like 30 matches and got that map like 12 times. They pretty much said to me, "Yeah? What's your issue then? Turn around, taxi to the actual end of the runway, turn around again and take off, or else buy golden eagles to unlock the upgrades and take off." How about instead, I do neither. If I wanted unrealistic levels of suffering and grind, I'd have gone back to Eve Online.

Toxicity mainly comes from the fact that losing in WT has consequences compared to the more casual games, so you have more insensitive to be angry about dying.
Yeah, if it weren't for repair costs I think people would be a bit more chill.
I agree, games with the most toxic community are usually games that have some type of Ranking system, now WTH doesn't have that but it has the silver lion loss per tank + premium tanks even though most of them are average it makes people think they are better than free tanks hence the hate to the players who bought them
@@coltpiecemakeryeah, I think a large part of it is the repair costs. I have seen so many people sound soul drained after they lose 30k SL in a single match
The single spawn per vehicle mechanic is a big problem. You should be able to spawn as many times as the team's SP pool allows, like many other online games. You want to play a particular vehicle, you die a cheap death, you're pissed off and less likely to spawn in something worse.
thats a big thing actually, never thought about that. In ranked competitive games people get toxic because they're tilted and dont want to lose their rank. In WT ur not losing rank, but actual in game currency. and some times those loses can actually be pretty substantial, and a streak of bad games might even essentially lock you out of playing the time period you WANT to play forcing you to grind or become a gaijin paypig
One time i was having a hard time got killed 3 times and got in my last vehicle.
An underpowered SPAA.
When i encountered a t34 85 i stared at him pointing the gun at me, but he didn't took the shot and lefted me cap the point he was standing in.
At the end my team lost but at least I got happy after a hard time with this gesture by a generous man.
Lol happened to me once, I saw an attacker hitting ground targets and I decided I'd rather dogfight anyway so I left him to it and he turned and attacked me, generosity... not even once lol
Sometime being nice is fun 1 week ago i was in My potez631 on jungle map i criticaly damaged à f20 bomber one of his engine was highly damaged and he lost à part of his wing. All of his gunner were knocked out so i flew next to him at 60 70m wile swinging my wings during 30seconds . I had mercy for him and left him alive without finishing him.
Sadly he crashed in the water few time after, still was one of my most enjoyable moment in game with some Hans Stiegler and "ye old pub" Vibes.
I dont kill players in the cap that causes no threat to me, instead I wait till they cap then start blasting
Type 93 syndrome....killing them isnt really worth the shell cost as they cant even fight back. I have done so myself with an MI-4.....as an SPAA I gave them a free pass (then got distracted by an A4E Skyhawk) they got a couple of kills before their heli burned. I had murdered 2 Mi-24s beforehand
A week ago I had this Air RB match where it was down to 3 vs 3/4. After resupplying, I saw an enemy plane heading straight to my base, no doubt to drop some bombs on it. We pretty much were on the same altitude, but instead of gunning him down head-on, I chose to let him fly by me as I head to bomb their base myself. Then some jerk on the enemy team, not him, shot me down. GG.
My big issue is the rampant spawn camping, that is evidenced by there being entire clans dedicated to squading up for low tiers and climbing to 15000 feet and circling the map border to get above the other teams spawn to bounce them as they respawn. Also in ground battles when a team gets outpushed at the start of the match and finds the enemy surrounding their spawn zone just waiting for the respawn invulnerability to end to pick you off is completely unfair.
I see that second thing as not that bad, when a team gets stomped so hard that your entire team is able to just stare at their spawn the round is already over. Plus it gives you the chance to try for a multi kill, like with the M60 ontos, against the spawn campers. The first is alot worse since low tiers can't really counter that and may end up quitting the game entirely if they aren't invested in it.
yeah, I've seen this in the game and it's pathetic.
@@cookiecraze1310 I agree mostly but there are a few maps, such as that one castle where the spawners have no chance against enemies above and in cover.
Dude facts I am by no means what someone would call average at the game but when my team just gets stomped in the first five minutes of the match I just leave the match but at the same time the way I see it is that it is perfectly fine to be okay or bad at the game but please stay in the lower BR's don't bother going higher than that because you are just screwing the rest of the team wait for yourself to get better then move up in BR you will find that you will have a better time and you won't be wasting team slots either. This was meant to be read with the context of someone speaking calmly and me trying to be helpful and nice I myself am at 5.3 BR and for now I don't see myself going much higher for atleast the immediate short term future.
"Sure if you beat someone at a duel, They might say something derogatory about your mother"
I didn't anticipated it, The way spookston say the line so casually with a straight voice just got me rolling 😂😂
I think what Spookston meant by “They might” is “they will”
At this point if my mother gets insulted online I just find it funny
At one point when I was playing war thunder I tried a strategy of: “be really nice to people” so if someone got a long range kill on me, I’d say “nice shot” if ppl were toxic to ea h other I’d say “guys this is just a game we play it cuz we like WT not cuz we hate each other “, that strategy was kind of fun.
How did it go for you?
I do that a lot too, just try to defuse situations. It definitely shifted the way my team behaved a few times, but it's tiring that you have to do it often. I still think Spookston is a bit sore, I bet he didnt spend much time in CSGO, Valorant, Apex or any small team-high interdependence shooter. The shit you get for not playing like is expected, while at the same time not getting any comms and facing another players bad play without being able to do something about it round after round is definitely the most soul draining experience in gaming I've ever had.
@@mekingtiger9095 typing mid battle was a bit of a hindrance on performance, but enjoying the game more i think overall helped performance maybe.

@@TrojanHell banned from a discord for being bad at r6. we were in unranked.
Gaijin has ultimately created this environment, whether intentional or not, they have made the game to be incredibly incredibly frustrating, so you pay money in the hopes of relieving some of it. They also balance the game around player and vehicle statistics, so it ends up with an "Us VS Them" type scenario where mains of different countries argue over who ultimately has the worse players, and as a result who has the most OP vehicles. So when you combine this together, you have a playerbase that agrees on very little and is easily distracted, so when you make a change that fucks over 1 part of the playerbase, the remainder go "Yeah! Fuck you guys! Serves you right!" but then they go and make a similar change that fucks over another part of it people are now also going "Yeah! If I gotta deal with this shit, you should to!" and Gaijin have no intention of ever fixing this behavior, because it means we will never be able to unify and agree on an issue to get actual change made.
Expanding on this "us vs them" thing, it's really hard to even get a perspective on the other side because it takes so much grinding to get there. I started with US air and I used to think that the Bf 109 and Fw 190 were OP. Then I moved on to jets, and I thought the MiG-15, MiG-21, etc were OP.
Now, I've played all those vehicles, and I have a lot more experience than before, so I no longer hold those views, but most people aren't going to go to the effort to grind the other trees to see how they really perform. Heck, I don't really know for sure whether the JA37C or F-4EJ Kai are as OP as people say they are right now, simply because I don't have those vehicles and I don't have the time to grind out those vehicles.
This should be the top comment ngl. Ive reached top tier of every nation but Germany, (Sweden is literally a better Germany at top tier and owning RU/US CAS makes it p much not worth grinding.)
Gaijin makes HORRIBLE BR balance and Economic decisions for players making them more irritable. Thus resulting in more toxicity as everyone is in a heightened emotional state.
@@_ace_defective_ I remember when Gaijin said that 'something is always OP to someone else', and then remembered that the Yak 9 was nerfed THREE TIMES. Makes one think "Was it really 'balanced' before the nerfs if they changed it?". to see toxicity at its worse go into a Custom Battle
I actually had my first encounter with it yesterday. Bought the KA-50 for giggles, and took it into a Ground Assault Match. Mind you, I never play helis, and only bought this one because I think the KA-50 is interesting and wanted to play with it. Within a minute of the match starting some dude starts trying to flame all four Helis on the map because we weren't targeting the planes. Within seconds of this it degenerated from complaining that we weren't doing something that helps are not supposed to do (attack helicopters don't tangle with jets irl, so I don't either) to accusing myself and another player if being pay to win fags because I only brought my KA-50 and my Squadron T80, and the other guy only had an XM-1 and the YAH-64. I won't claim I was doing well, because I wasn't. I spent the first minute on the ground trying to figure out how to use my Vikhirs missiles. But this guy was by far the most toxic player I have ever seen. Talking with the other player after the match, I found out that he went so far as to message both of us and try to harass us afterwards. I don't care as much but this other individual seemed to be very put out by his attitude.
Revenge bombing is just as toxic. A fix to revenge bombing would be the kill cam recording to start at the point where the shell entered the tank armor, not when it left the barrel of the enemy vehicle. This way, players wouldn't know exactly where the shot came from (they would only know the general direction based on the angle of the shell). Although yes, close range engagements would likely not change much, long range engagements would be much more bearable.
then you get the bushed up camper destroying an entire team because it cant be spotted
Yeah, but when are we going to get to video titled "War Thunder's Gaijin problem". The snail is the heart of all the problems with the game. Annoying monetization, frustrating gameplay, horribly managed dev team, and so many other things are entirely the fault of Gaijin and their harebrained decisionmaking.
There are at a good few devs under Gaijin who are genuinely passionate about War Thunder and want it to do well, but the absolute bleeding idiots managing them are squandering all that work for a quick profit.
At this point, I have no faith in Gaijin to ever make a correct decision in the future. My only hope is that the few passionate devs leave and make their own game.

Tbh, I actually don't share that experience. In my 4 years of playing War Thunder, I havent been confronted with as much toxicity as in other games. Of course there are some matches full of toxisity, but those are the exeption and I get them very rarely. So experiences ofc vary but I've been actually very happy with the low amount of toxicity, atleast in game.

Revenge kills in WT are a serious part of the toxicity.
The driving motivation is spite. This is only exacerbated when the kill is skillful or comes from a lower BR vehicle. Few games I can think of have such a big focus on revenge against other players who are simply playing normally.

War thunder is especially frustrating. Death costs a lot, you usually get killed by someone you can't see, and you usually die in one shot. Watching helplessly as you burn out in your brand new tank is a horrible feeling. Gaijin has done absolutely nothing to combat this.
“Fair and balanced”
Yes they have, play arcade. You can see everyone there. A big part of war is about hiding unless you must move to capture something. You should expect nothing less than being killed by something you can't see in any game that tries to capture war in any realistic fashion. If you want every to take 4 or more hits to kill, play World of Tanks. I play War Thunder just because when I hit a tank that I should blow up in one hit... many times it does. To be fair realistic battle is meant to be ... realistic. A tank getting knocked out by a single hit from some unseen enemy is kinda how that works. This isn't World of Tanks. The bigger issues are the grind, the premium bullshit, etc.
Another reason is probably tiger syndrome over all, where people have this view that this certain tank is the best thing ever and no other tank would ever stand a chance, then they hold w to the cap and get insta killed by a flanking light tank and start raging about it. And like you mentioned, Gaijin doesn't help a lot with toxicity, especially not by adding so many busted vehicles to make some money before balancing it.
Can I just say that I really love your outro? Please don’t change it

The thing that makes me perhaps the most frustrated is spawncamping, and how easy it is to do it on some maps. I also get proccupied with repair costs way too much but that's a problem on my part. The two paired together make me feel infuriated when I die to a spawncamper and have to loose 5k because of it.
Map design is a huge issue for sure. In tanks the danger of moving left or right rather than straight ahead is so great that it naturally funnels people towards spawncamping. Then they implement what are, on the surface, draconian anti-spawncamping measures, but in practice amount to an exploitable safe zone for SPAA to only face air while simultaneously leaving enough areas that can be sniped that any competent spawncamper barely notices a difference against anything other than SPAA abusing the safe spots.
I hate that most of all
Being punished for doing absolutely nothing wrong
Just spawning in
It’s heartbreaking
I think if they removed repair costs for tanks destroyed in the first 1 min of the game
Or even added that as a booster or something
That would relieve some of the pressure
And for sure take the stupid maps like Karelia out of any game Br 4.3+
At even 6.3 that map is unplayable on the west spawn
Cause if you spawn in late, or are thrown into the game late
You’ll be stuck in spawn, unable to leave
Or risk leaving and be immediately sniped even if you check it every spot
There is just too many spots and too small of a map that if it’s anything larger then a 8v8, it’s not gonna be fun
The far worse thing Gaijin does is manipulate the gameplay: ghost shells ignoring hits, favoring other players when they snipe your pilot, one-shot kill you in doubtful ways, improving kill rate for Premium Accounts (aim fixing), random AA hits out of nowhere, force crashing your airplane, suppressing the sound of an incoming enemy plane on your six (when you should be able to listen), making enemy airplanes literally invisible when they obviously should be visible, and many other "balancing" manipulations, these are the worse kind of things because I think most players don't realize that and they get thrown around the game with such inconsistency and unreliability that the problem becomes a different thing for each moment, not even counting the other problems it all makes for a very frustrating game. Some consistency would at least be more justifiable when you die.

Honestly, the last time I saw this level of toxicity in WT was a long time ago, at least in the game itself. Been forever since I have been on the forums.
When I think of toxicity, first franchise that comes to mind is Wargame. The game itself is incredibly fun, but the community will not let you hear the end of it if you don't play according to a number of meta and playstyle expectations.
Yep and if they see you in a Tier 3/4/5 match as a newbie and see your name as green in their UI mods, they'll bully the shit out of you then wonder why their game has less concurrent players than War Thunder.
@@Rexhunterj See my comment on the other thread for clarification. I was referring to a game of a different genre, Wargame by Eugen.
When you have general chat that spam "PUTIN GAY SEX" for every 2secs and bashing your existence for choosing support deck instead of more meta mechanised or motorised deck, you can pretty much gauge how toxic the community is.
Dont even let me start with that one dude that claim he is the strongest player that beat Razmann with his Israeli deck but got curbstomped instead.
its what happens when you build a game on frustration and pay to win. 5 years ago it was hardly toxic at all and that was when it wasnt pay to win or frustrating
This is one of the reasons why I stopped playing WT a month ago. Not only bcs of the toxic community, but the toxicity from Gaijin themselves. When you want changes or comment how stuff is killing the game, they'll just tell you that "if you dont like it, stop playing". They feel comfortable because they know you dont have any other similar game to go; they think their game is great with 40k+- players daily when they could get more by balancing or making real changes asked by their players.

@@SLAYERxX420 sure they are better games, but are they tank/airplane based warfare, no. So if we want our tank/airplane based warfare game we only have WT.

There's one more reason, the repair cost, eventhough I'm a low tier, players are worries about the consequences of losing at upper tier and it is getting ridiculous, still eventhough gaijin "somehow" remove the repair cost, the spawn camp and constant cas attack are a problem and just multiply the toxicity.
Wow, somehow I've avoided all of this for years. Granted, I'm an Air RB player first and foremost, but the vast majority of other players I've fought with in Air RB were way less toxic. The worst I can recall is a teamkiller who wiped out half of my team before crashing. I wonder if the lower research times and easier to balance maps contribute to things feeling less stressful for players.
It's because it's not a thing. This dude is just a cry baby & hasn't played any other games so he has no real perspective. The community is BEYOND respectful or at the minimum, not toxic.
I've played arcade and realistic for air, ground, and both naval. TankRB is the toxic one. The others are great. I think tank rb attracts the toxic part of the tank fanboy community for some reason, hence the higher number of toxic players there.
Haven’t played in over 2 weeks. Came back the other day and actually had some fun just playing and not being over concerned with my results. I’d argue that’s another huge contributor. Everyone wants to be the best (not to say that’s a bad thing) and it leads some people into toxic tendencies.
Its the repair cost and fact you actuzly lose something for dieing.
Honestly, if you just look at it like what it is, a game you play for fun it becomes a lot better, complimenting the people that kill me actually has helped a lot for me. It takes away that tendency to rage when you get killed sometimes and replaces it with a better feeling
yeah you just don't have to burnout, or else it will only be quantity over quality

I remember when I got tired of playing The US and France (the tech trees I started on) and played Germany for a couple months and when I unlocked the Tiger 2 P and H every time I played the Porsche and the enemy would talk it would be something like “good shot bruv” but when I planted the H I got so much hate just for spawning in. I just don’t understand anymore.
I’ve gotten hate in the Tiger (H) and Tiger (H) Sla.16 specifically I noticed it is when I’m down tired to 5.7 or 6.0. I think it’s because at that BR very few tanks can pen you from the front while in a Tiger (P) pretty much most can as long as they’re accurate enough therefor when killed by an Tiger (H) they feel like it’s unfair. I wholeheartedly agree on this, I was playing a match with one of my IRL friends and a "teammate" rammed him (We were playing Air Realistic and he was flying an Italian plane, the only one in the match, the "teammate" and his squad were all flying American planes) on purpose, which I know was on purpose because I was flying right behind and above my friend, and watched the "teammate" specifically fly underneath my friend and turn straight up, ramming my friend and killing both of them instantly, that was my friends last plane and the "teammate" spawned back in, so I started typing in chat about him teamkilling, which did nothing other than start a fight between me and the members of the "teammates" squadron (He was playing in a Squad with 2 other players, all three of them apart of the same clan or whatever it's called in War Thunder), in the end it got nowhere so I shot down their last planes after he and his squad wouldn't stop purposefully shooting at me and got chat banned for 6 months because of some reason that wasn't provided to me whatsoever (Yes, I know doing what he did to my friend wasn't the best option, but I was seriously pissed off that day and that situation didn't help, the situation also wasn't improving, leaving me with the options of either leaving the match or handling the situation myself)
i went back to watch this again after a year or more and seeing white rock again was nostalgic, one of the best maps ever
what toxicity? theres barely any interaction most of the time in matches
This seems to talk a lot more about external toxicity rather than in, I was going to say a lot of in-game toxicity could be contributed to the simple frustrating gameplay design of the game and people taking it out on each other, there are so many frustrating things about this game that compound so quickly every match just makes you more and more angry.
I don't play anymore, for a variety of reasons but one of my last games, whilst trying to get research points for my tank destroyer, I had two players on my team, push me quite a ways from the city streets and into the river on purpose, where I drowned. :(

Yeah, when I squad up with some average skill friends we do really well, best squad 9/10 times. The team work is what makes the difference in these games... in tanks especially I have used my KV-1 to block incoming shots that would kill a crippled friendly, stuff like that is small but if you do it the player will appreciate your effort.
Just a thing... Is it common to rounds disappearing? I was playing with the 88 flack and I shot 4 rounds at an IS-2 and nothing happened. The hits didn't register is there any way to go around this problem?
I stopped playing warthunder and giving them my money because the game is just frustrating. Balance is out of whack and br uptiering and down tiering make the game near unplayable. Coupled with stock grind the game is a huge disappointment due to what ifs. Developments are solid if monetization was a single purchase and not vehicle based then more time would be put into map design and new game modes. It's the best vehicle game out there that has been gutted and left to rot in the sun due to f2p model. It's a disappointment to play because it could easily be amazing.
Same, people need to realize that there is much better games than war thunder. Its really a lost cause and not worth sticking around hoping it gets better because its not going to.

Teamwork really is dreamwork in WT, and you don't have to sacrifice ten goats for the opportunity.
maybe it's too late to write this, but i had to make a couple of matches to remember what this problem is all about, do you know why war thunder has a toxicity problem?
I play war thunder mainly for the realism that the game engine can offer and the fancy stuff of top tier jets, the day i decided to get serious at the game i've chosen italy to grind for top tier jets, bought premium and G91 during sales and eventually i unlocked the f104s, at the time the (so told) fastest jet in the game at 10.0, the first times i've played this jet it felt really stiff, speed was really its only weapon, so i started to play by the manual, boom'n zoom attacks were the most effective ones in order to not to die instantly, and for a while most of my matches ended up positive, then the f104s was moved to 10.3 and with the mig-21 i hadn't the fastest jet anymore, it wasn't too bad at first, if i played the jet the way it was meant to be played i could get away most of the times, but with all the jets added since then like the mig 21bis, ja37c and the most recent f-4 loadouts the reliability of this jet got seriously undermined, they say that playing correctly is all it takes to score positive, now it's not the case anymore, it happens so often that even cruising at mac 1+ a jet passing by turns 180° and starts closing the gap and spamming high Gs missiles, something I've never seen since the last couple of updates, now I hear that the f104s is going 10.8, it's an old jet, it has nothing that stands out, no flares, not the biggest loadout, not the highest top speed or climb rate, the sparrows tracks one out of five or six times, and flies like a brick, and trust me, this makes me want to kill someone.
It's been given 6 AIM9J's
@@janinacourtney398 Yeah, that was a good improvement for a 10.3 jet, yeah everything else is a flaw, like the lack of cm/ecm or the shitty handling but with aim9js it can now perform some decent boom'n zoom attacks (and nothing else), the problem is this jet soon going up to 10.7, closer to 11.0 jets, where 30-25Gs radar guided weapons, cm/ecm, faster and nimble jets are the norm, I've played several matches with 11.0 teams, and I must say, it doesn't matter if I fly the jet correctly, if someone wants me dead, I die.
The times I get angry is when whole team goes to 1 point in 3 capture point match, and fails to capture it.
I remember being told to get lung cancer on world of tanks. The same still applies in WT. They positioned themselves in a bad spot & raged when nobody wanted to throw away their tank to help them.
A guy on Project Gotham Racing (IIRC 3) told me my address and said he was going to come to my house and struggle snuggle me to death.
I still have no idea how he knew my address, it wasn't linked to my XBL account in any way as far as I remember. And it can't have been that he knew me as he was from another country. And there's no way on earth that it was a lucky guess.
{Jimmeh Jiimmeehh!} IP tracing. I have seen people use similar technologies to troll CoD communities and games.
this might be unpopular but as ex player who quit 4 years ago , big part of blame is developers , they developed "sort of" fun game , but game who in inherit design frustrate players(as a choice) , not rewards any teamplay and caters to selfish behaviours (whole endeavour system and win X matches makes this even worse) , when i look at warthunder from perspective of player who now not played it for 3 years , and played it for 6 before that its not bad game with extra but
whole system and monetization is build to frustrate you to spend more money , says miles they sell fire enstinguishers to you , skip to get repair kit now , buy premium so you can afford that overpowered tank we made 25k lions to repair or keep losing money , everything in WT has in build frustration to it , when i played it i(and many players i spoke to) "ill have fun next match" but that feeling rarely if ever comes and you not only frustrate yourself but others
it does not help that a lot people because that "cheats the system" making entire game worse , and now you have closed loop , devs make it more frustrating , players get frustrated , unload it onto game and players , and this makes people quit , and creates more angry people.
i played many military sim , pvp games , im old eve online veteran , in its core Gajin is root of the problem. as much as people are responsible for their own actions too , devs had choice , they could not reward this behaviour , make game more cooperative rather then reward selfish play , they could not make it frusrtaring less.
lots people who play it dont see it as they been in this endless limbo , but once i took 2 month break i never for second wanted to get back , i still watch 2 youtubers to see whats going on and patches in 4 years only solidify my choice to never come back
bugs i raported in forums , in closed beta for tanks are still in game.
i played WoT and this never been a problem there and games are very close alike
Warthunder:"its almost fun"
I try not to be toxic but sometimes, when one of my ally stares at me right next to me and I need help to extinguish a fire, I just become mad
I rarely see any toxicity now that the chat is back
I think the biggest factor is that the game's whole design is about frustrating people into oblivion. Literally all design changes in the past 2-3 updates, such as thermals, tow2Bs and BILLs are designed to frustrate people that do not have them. Throw in a chat and you get this toxicity.
Then they ban you for venting in chat at the lemmings and abusers, adding to the frustration that ends in pissed off TK's and one death leaves. I am going to admit I have shot down pilots flying fighters all game while the ground team suffers.
and let's talk about the traction, tanks get less powerful, planes get more powerful
I always thought it was because the game is tailored to make you angry to make you buy premium and gold. Who is going to have fun when every game you lose money, or get oneshot across the map when the game starts? People that have fun in this game seem to be detached from the metagaming of grinding tanks, saving money, unlocking components, and dealing with incompetent teammates.
I actually came to War Thunder from World of Tanks. I was used to constant abuse in and out of game, being both recipient and observer of it. It felt like, regardless of how well you played, you were bound to get harassed with a message from another player.
I am sure you make good points that need to be adressed but i'm quite happy not having received a single negative message from other players so far.
I actually have started to enjoy the game again. I've been playing since late 2013, and since about 2018 I had stopped playing, until about 2 months ago. Coming back after such a long time I'm not as invested and thus less frustrated by the game. to me it proves sometimes you just gotta take a step back for a while.
1:55 I must confess I was a toxic player years ago. Now i started completing other tech trees which opened my eyes to how hard all nations had it at different parts of their tech trees. The best methods to kill these kind of immaturities is to diversify your nations, switch between air rb and ground rb from time to time, start the match with a greetings in chat, and do your best to play for fun not for grind. What i ment by the last one is try to not be afraid to grind for high BRs using lower vehicles you love playing even if the RP gains are inefficient. Finally, find some humor at the rediculous things that happens in the game (being gaijined) cause it happens to everybody just as frequently it happens to you. Trust me.

Alright, since we are on this topic I have some stories to share.
So I am playing on Russia server simply because I wanted to play at least on 2 to not wait very long for battle and Russian is the second closest to me.
Right away I get the spawn bug where allies are invisible for few seconds and I ram into a panther.
Not nothing really happens to him except getting turned around a little bit. Then an unrelated IS2 rams me from behind and starts pushing me.
I tell him stuff like "having fun?" and "you can just go around you know?" and this continues for few minutes. I don't really blame him at this point cause he was obviously just confused and thought I was ramming the panther on purpose.
But then he tries to flip me over a hill and I have to frantically maneuver not to fall on my roof. I ask the player to report him after that, and I get another unrelated player saying "This is RU server speak Russian!
Now I never heard this kind of entitlement from Russians and I thought just the sheer humiliation some American individuals suffered from doing this in public would prevent other people especially from other countries from saying that.
So saying Russian servers are for Russians is incredibly dumb on the face of it but seeing as he obviously is thinking with patriotism brain I reply to him in Slovak why Shouldn't I speak Slovak instead? Appealing to pan-slovanism a lot of Slovan nationalists hold.
And then he replies "Fuck NATO pig."
Russian brainworms at it's best.
The second story is much weirder and sadder.
I posted in a steam war thunder group that I was looking for people to team up with. One person who replied turned out to be a 14 year old girl, I was around 20 at that time so I was super iffy if I should interact with her at all. But I told myself I will give it a shot.
Right of the bat things get super weird. She was I guess questioned before about her relationship with her boyfriend and was super sensitive about it and she mistook me making a joke for criticizing her relationship and went on what I can only describe as young teen argue spree. until I said I was just joking. She invites me into a custom game with her boyfriends guild and things get way crazier.
She sends me a message saying "Lol, I am a nazi. You made me one." And then says she meant to send that to her boyfriend.
Now people say that she might have been just trolling me, and I find that incredibly difficult to believe.
Cause that was pretty much the ONLY thing she sent me, as I was mostly just awkwardly sitting there. If she was trolling there would have been some king of a follow up. Not just one isolated message with an apology.
Then things get much worse. I click on her boyfriends steam profile. And not only do him and the people with him have swastikas, ww2 German soldier profile pictures and various racist and nationalistic posts in their descriptions.
Her boyfriend is in his mid 20's.
After finding out I left the group and tried to find anywhere to report this, but I came out short. I may have reported it to steam at least at the end. I don't know. At the time I was just too unfamiliar with all that to be of any help.

The changes they made to this game ultimately encourages players to be more toxic. High repair cost and small amount of rewards pushes players to use the scumiest tactics ever. Spawn camping, ULQ, bushes, space climbing, pushing teamates, rushing points, using teammates as bait, CAS spamming, surfing. You got people trying to defend the R3 being at 3.7. Why because its their most viable grinding tool. Events just amplify these toxic behavior.
And I believe Gaijin is fully aware it and try to use to milk money out of people. The constant addition of new broken vehicles at each update and how they constantly drag their feet to deal with them. And how their "fixes" ultimately benefits Gaijin and fails to address the real issue. Best example the stock APDSFS. Not evert MBT had them, so instead of giving every MBT stock APDS they gave everyone stock HEAT. Or how they removed the Maus or Tiger 10.5.
It doesn't help Gaijin created a community that shouts down anyone who as a negative opinion on them or how they actively censor those comments.
Every update I point out how Gaijin still hasn't addressed the traction issue, but I get called a hater or World of Tank fan boy. Because they don't want me ruining their moments of getting their shiny new toy. Then later cry about it not being OP enough.
Gaijin wants us scrapping with each other over "national pride" and the balance of vehicles. So we won't focus on them and they can get us buy the next broken vehicle.
To be fair, the Tiger 105 was a fake tank, so its removal was actually an improvement to the game, rather than a detriment. The issue was they never replaced it with anything. The Panther 2 got a new Patton instead, but players who used the Tiger 105 never got anything at all even in vaguely near-BR replacement at all, despite options being given.
But yes your comment is bang on in every way that it saved me writing it myself! They cultivate it, and they stoke it, occasionally even just via their "Can't handle us trolling you?" replies to critique.
The whole national pride thing makes me lol. Most westerners don't even have countries anymore.
The removal made me quit the game. On top of the horrible slow grind.
they never removed the Maus, i keep getting killed by that piece of shit
Don't forget they just don't like people complaining because *Q U E U E T I M E S*
This literally sounds like World of Tanks on a regular basis.
Well a lot of them quit wot for WT, only for WT to become more like wot in its “balance” and gameplay. Top tier WT is wot top tier, hell even wors maps are bigger than WTs. Everything mis tier feels like wots T4-7
I haven't played it quite a long time already but some years ago when I left the game the WoT community was so incredibly toxic it often rivalled the glory days of CoD MW2. What we have right now is light hearted banter in comparison.
yes, but WoT is mostly kids under the age of 12, more so in Blitz that is
at least you dont get one shot all that often in world of tanks from across the map
@@meepy546
Yeah, no, it happens in WT too
Something like this happened today, my teammate said good luck and have a great day, most of the players said "ty you too" but one guy was like: "kys". like wtf? why
Shits and giggles plus grinding makes people pissed.
That's why I probably contribute to the toxicity problem if you could call it that by bullying low tier players in something annoying to face :D (coming from a player who has played for 5 years constantly as a F2P player till last year)
I've been playing for 2 weeks now and I've barely noticed any activity in the chat at all.
"If they are actually biased, then just move on. You're not going to convince them so it's just a waste of time."
While obviously you meant this about War Thunder, this is the precise reason I don't bother arguing with anyone, especially about politics. There's no point; you're not going to do anything except raise your blood pressure.
Yep.
Just agree with them or ignore completely and do stuff your own way.
I just straight up have fun in arcade, idk why but it feels like realistic has more toxicity, am I wrong about this?
I'm with you.
Yeah, it's more sweaty in realistic. So when you die its twice as frustrating.
Nope, you are absolutely correct. Remember that there is the issue of elitism. People here tends to see RB as bring more elite than AB, and AB players seen as inferiors. Most of the more elitist players are in RB, and that's where the highest toxicity lies.
From my experience I would agree with you arcade has a much more casual and friendly playerbase.
No your right in arcade when you die it’s not that huge of a deal especially on small maps cause you’re insanely fast. But In realistic on some maps you spend an entire minute or sometimes more depending getting to the front only to be killed and it pisses people off.
I recently got a KV-220 from a chest and one of my first games and had teammates work together to push my tank into a canal because they said it is cancer. I just wanted to play with my new tank... 😥
I’ve noticed I never get angry at my enemies in this game, only my teammates.
More Gaming UA-camrs need to be making a point about this for all games. I'm glad you've made a video about it.
"I know it's a bad platform" -Spookston describing reddit circa 2021. based.
The one toxic moment i had was a guy pushing me when i was spotting in my ASU 57
Late to the fight but when I was testing out a secondary tree to follow after being burnt out with my main one I was going through other trees playing 5 or so each but when I tried 1.0 sweden air each match I would be killed at spawn or battle once a battle by a teammate including once when my engine was nearly destroyed. There's also the toxicity around people playing AB from RB and SB players.
I want to say I do experience some of this as it is. When complaining about how hard the Jumbo is to hit in the front with any german tanks, Im called a wheraboo and insulted for using germany. I understand germany didn't build tanks that could shrug anything off in the battlefeild and have enough penetration to rival the t-29 Infact most sucked. But still I feel I should be allowed to complain when its that difficult to hit the target. I even mess up badly and blow up my teammates from time to time, but at least for the most part, low teir players are able to understand accidents happen
Just a tip for jumbos being a German main myself the machine gunners port on the hull in the front the tank is there week spot
War Thunder is a cesspool of toxicity, it’s why I hardly even look at the chat ingame anymore
I wish there was a way to remove chat during ingame or at least disable chat messages
@@USSBOAT Is this an irony?
What? in the game chat is some of the least toxic of pvp online games out there. 90% of games nobody even talks.
Like Robert Harris said I find WT to be pretty chill in terms of chat raging content. It happens but it's not constant. One of the worst was BFV, every single game someone was cheat calling and insulting everyone. That's some people on the internet for you. . . WT isn't bad at all chat wise.
I´d say, that the biggest problem about this is, how repair costs are high and dying is so easy, making the alt+F4 rage-quits and that often turn into anger, and seeking where to calm down. Overall, it is not such a big deal nowadays (not counting in forums) in game, it is mostly fine, just a few explitives.
love the subnautica music in the background
