- War Thunder's community isn't the greatest, and neither is how Gaijin interacts with said community. Gaijin uses frustration to fuel game purchases for vehicle modifications, premium tanks or planes, premium time, etc. This frustration makes the community sour in general, which in turn leads to players abusing developers that probably had no say in it anyway.

I literally was playing a match of WT while watching this video, and got rammed 3 times INTO combat, killing me. Very frustrating

1. I helped the enemy
2. I tried to make friends with the enemy
I know that is not right but I tried to make it right.

The "reducing traction" solution was typical idiotic gaijin work, i literally drifted my SU-85 in RB up the hills
That thing is so weird on slopes now. I mean, everything is bad, but the Su-85 seems to want to slide up hills when you try to traverse the hull

Man, now that explains how I Deja Vu'd on a slope with my BMP. It was kinda funny tho'.
Maps are literally ice rinks now, even for my spaded CR2. Guess fixing their shit map design was too difficult. They could have just put out of bounds zones in the camping spots.....
The only solution to this state of affairs is a reduction in frustrating mechanics, no other fix will address the core issue.

Honestly I think the main frustrating mechanic they should nerf is repair cost, it's not fun whatsoever to be forced to pay money to so much as play the game in the first place, I get they need money, but holy shit the extreme repair costs have made so many people straight up quit war thunder.
Problem: frustrating mechanics IS the core of WT's business model. And I highly doubt that will change.

Forget the 1200 years of Croatian, Bosnian, and the other states existence. Hence many of the places there still carry Serbian names, of course that changed by the decade when Turks occupied the Balkans, gotta point that out. The biggest loss? We lost our identity which was systematically destroyed over time in favor of "Yugoslavs", whatever the fuck that meant. We literally gained *nothing* at all. Others gained countries, lol. Tensions were very high before the formation of Yugoslavia and Serbia was the only country that was independent at the time of its formation and the one with the most established identity, yet we were the ones who were pushing for it the most. CIA even stated that (not paraphrasing, its verbatim) in their (now declassified, I read that in their online archives) reports that they were dumbfounded as to why we were so keen on destroying our own heritage for the sake of some fabricated unity with others. Titoism and its idiotic politics were cancerous to the Balkans. At least that's what I think. We're still carrying the consequences of it on our backs. We all made some terrible crimes during the war(s) and it's in my honest opinion that anyone who targets a civilian deserves swift justice. Nobody should deny their crimes nor celebrate them. That goes for all factions here. Let's not forget any crimes or turn a blind eye to them (and there are plenty, you, in example, conveniently excluded Croatian mass murders and their huge concentration camps during WW2 as well), let's hope that people admit them and ask for forgiveness. Don't pick a fucking side, there can be no sides to massacring civilians, there's only good and bad. You may call me slightly biased as I am a Serb indeed but I'd happily strangle some so-called Serbs which committed war crimes in Bosnia. I'm just asking that you do the same. And let's not forget the Brits involvement here during the 40s, Yugoslavia was their fucking idea and served their interest at the time. Btw, the breakup was predetermined long ago, that same CIA report I mentioned laid out the details as to how it'd play out when the USSR collapses, and that report was from late 60s if I remember :)

Honestly i think it is both tragic and pathetic that they resort to a frustration model for the game, its actually the reason i stopped playing.
I just play sim, with above average awareness i can get 3 kills and 2-3k rp and 20k+ sl easily, no premium vehicle or time

I just simply dont enjoy it anymore.
i bought the preorder pack on xbox, yet i dont rven get 4 decals as standard. US gets 0 captured tanks, everyone else shares tanks like they are free. Japan gets way cooler trucks and even an artillery tank before the us.
I just get frustrated and don’t really have fun grinding out another tree when there sre less frustrating and more fun games to play.
Gainin always have been a shady company. They just did a better job of hiding just how bad they were in the past and atleast somewhat attempted to pretend they cared about anything other than milking people for every penny they could. Now it seems they've just completely stopped caring what players think of them.
Their just choking their own throat it'll only be matter of time that one wrong move from gaijin like adding another tier or making the game worse kill their own game and so I want that to happen just so they learn their lesson about listening to the community sometime
It's also cause developers don't know the problems of their own game. I've worked on mmos and triple a games, I can tell you I didn't finish working my 60 hours+ a week working on a game to go home and play that shit in my off time.
True the devs at gaijin should play in lower tier matches and see what is happening because the Unbalanced nature of the game where pros can go back to lower tier, beat the s**t out of noobs. This make noobs quit playing the game. I believe gaijin just need to make it easier and less of a grind to get to top tier vehicles.

How to fix that.
Ticket count, not vehicle count.
Arcade should have a ticket bleed based on number of flags captured etc etc with unlimited spawns.
Three deaths and done is ludicrous because it will undoubtedly piss the player off.
Spawns are also an issue.
I've actually got a spawn in domination that is a bottleneck leading into a fucking bowl.
We couldn't leave our spawn because it was designed that way, like, wtf were they thinking?
They could still hire a handful of people just to report the problems they face on a particular vehicle/br/in general. Ofc relying on say 100 people's opinion won't always do good but it would solve many balance issues that remain for years because of blindly following the statistic.

Yeop. Two opposing ideologies. On one hand, the majority saying "Fix your damn game already. It's been too many years". And on the other hand the minority saying "Give us more so we can have our favorite planes/tanks". Given who the general wallet warriors are, it's clear to see who Gaijin listens to
@@Registered_Simp they're only opposed through the way Gaijin's shitty pay-to-actually-have-fun model twists things. You can have more content that won't take years to access, other games do, but Gaijin sucks money from the latter stipulation. The grind issue is honestly worse here than I've seen in any game, and I've played Warframe. Making it so progressing through a tree isn't agony is *not* diametrically opposed to expanding the tree.
I wouldn't mind having 2-4 fresh unique vehicle per update with major game mechanic changes. [Tbh I wouldn't mind getting a great war era vehicles, it should be more fun]
Instead they gave us
"ctrl + c & ctrl + v" vehicle especially with the tonghao vehicles. It would be nice if they would changes how the match making work so that WW2 era vehicle wouldn't fight a Cold war era vehicle, and make the match making more realistic [I've had several games where the match making is actually good and realistic and tbh it is much more fun that way].
Also my problems with the tonghao are that their vehicles makes people go blind in sim battle, and wouldn't you hate it when you have to fight the same plane as yours in an air RB? It is not a "realistic" battle if you have 2-4 same plane as your team with an increased stats so people would play them [Im serious, check the vehicles stats on the tonghao's tech tree and you'll notice that they're slightly increased than their original counterpart. Huge example is the KI-61]
This isn't me trying to tell gaijin to fix their game, it is more like me letting my frustration out here, sorry.

All I've ever wanted from gaijin was maps that don't have wide open spawns where you can get killed before even having time to react
Be nice if they added damage to someone if they shoot you still under spawn protection.
the baron damage as in if your in spawn you shoot someone still in the 11 seconds spawn protection that damage you would of done gets done to your vehicle..maps are pretty small to begin with not to mention they removed the timed destruction feature while in enemy spawn. it doesn’t solve the problem being pinged in the map as nobody cares anyway.
My favourite maps are those which have houses on hills behind your spawn area which only serve for spawn campers as cover.
Das Sandwitch ya you spawn in a open field facing the opposite direction. You might see him on the map but making out his location in his cover all the while he has seen you already positioned himself for maximum survival 11 seconds is all you got lol

Oddly enough,I think large maps would mitigate spawn camping because you'll have more room to maneuver to counteract the spawn campers

@@corksucker this. Like when i play a sluggish and slow tank like the T29 on fields of poland, i drive 5 minutes only to get killed out of nowhere. No compensation for my time loss or effort to hold W for 5 minutes.
And the new gen maps don't do anything to help solve that problem,you can literally cap a point and take potshot into the other team spawn and prevent them from retaking the point

@Jaden Yuen Ho Tao wargaming games have much different grinding system. In war thunder it would be impossible to grind that way.
I think WOT frontline respawn system maybe could work get respawns by waiting and shorten waiting by spotting , kills and assists

Late respawn but,
a couple of my friends run 1 tank no respawns now because it's more enjoyable for them. (Or sometimes 1 tank and then a bomber or some other planes)
If they get into a rough uptier, or a match where the enemy team is significantly better than them they're out of the match sooner rather than being stuck in it. Queue times are so low that it barely matters.
i love how this game just turned from a cool f2p game to a torture machine, i get so frustrated when trying to play that sometimes i just open the game look at the tech tree and immediately quit, its just better to use my time for anything else than to play this game, and the best thing about the toxic community that gayjin created its that it not only affects the game experience but also the players mental health as well as the contents creators one like orange who just quitted because of that. and probably the devs as well since they have to endure all the rage and anger from those frustrated players. ( if they give a fuck about us).

I doubt they give a shit, they just want our money. I've spend 40 bucks on 1 year of premium so far. Honestly, unless they change (which they never have) after the premium wears out I'll probably lose interest in the game because of the grind (which is already to much with premium, how do non premium peasants even enjoy it lmao).
It would be so easy for them to make a good game and improve it, their playerbase literally tells them and shows them by UA-cam videos how they can make the game better. But they don't care. If anyone has hope in them changing they are stupid. They don't want you to have fun, they want you to give them money.
Tough for me the most frustration comes from getting a shit team and not because of the difficulties the mechanics present themselves... I don't mind losing but being top 3 while the team is dead after 10 minutes and the enemy has all players still in is just sad. Most don't use chat or map callous. Everyone plays for themselves. No teamwork.
These are the only reasons I see that one can lose really hard in the game.
@@chas1878 most reason for they to not play as a team is because the game dont give you anything for helping your team, in the end everyone knows that if you dont kill at least 5 enemys the matchs gonna be useless so everyone rushes and dies in a infinity cycle, and yeah when your premium account end just don't even bother to login into the game, i just stopped for a whole year basically after mine ended.

A couple months ago I made a montage where I killed countless tigers and tiger 2s in the Easy Eight, but now I can't even get any kills with it because there aren't any tigers to be found, just bush covered spawn camping RU 251s and cheesy premium German aircraft also camping spawn. It's "Cheese or be Cheesed" and it's so annoying. I want to fight bigger scarier historical tanks in a tank I love to play in long range engagements or brawls in destroyed cities, where it is a battle of wits and skills, not ridiculous pixel hunting a ridge line outside of spawn to see if you can catch a glimpse of the 6 RU 251s or 5 M18s that aren't even letting you play the game. I really love warthunder, but I can't keep playing it. It always had horrendous issues, but Gaijin and the community have gone too far to the point where I can't even have fun anymore.
As a Tiger 1 and Panther main I also hate M18s
But yeah, I think it'd be alot funner if we faced the vehicles we realistically would of instead of "hurr durr get cold war tank to the face"

PVE is nigh impossible, bots shoot with laser precision, you have almost no cover, and enemies spawn EVERYWHERE
@@nahuelleandroarroyo you forgot the atrocious AI Plane Strikes that is soo accurate with rockets even from very far ranges...
Man PVE modes are ridiculous. When then first began, they seemed like a decent way to get out of the stock hell, such is what I did with the F-100 and M1IP iirc. However its really just a gamemode slapped together by the developers and died quickly. All the enemies have aimbot, such that when in an aircraft, your engine will just die to a single round, or you will be pilot sniped, making it a regular thing to spawn in a new aircraft after shooting down 1 or 2 enemies. As for the artillery which spawns in with air PVE, its ridiculous, it drains health extremely fast, people have to fly miles to get to it, people have to drop altitude to get to them, and also people wont have the loadout for it. Onto ground PVE, its even worse. Aimbot comes in the form of taking out your barrel every damn second, or ofc and insta kill to the ammo rack. Also having enemies come from all different directions really prevents anyone from finding cover so its just spawn, probably get a shot off, and die. Rinse and repeat. Another major issue is that it doesnt scale well at all. Im sure Gaijin intended for there to be 15 people in a match, so they put around 45 or so tanks per wave. Thats great and all, until you get into a match with 6 other people, of which 2 of them are using SPAA, then you have 5 people defending 4 sides from endless waves of aimbot enemies.
Also the rewards are awful, only when you win will you get decent RP and SL gains, who gives a fuck about the booster. If you lose however, you get basically nothing.
I remember times before we got the Chinese tree.

And when they did release it the community started crying even louder because
"OMG! COPYPASTE TREE!!!"

I never played this game, but I literally only wanted this game in singleplayer, since there's no other singleplayer that lets you drive a lot of tanks in battles.
I don't want to deal with microtransactions, excessive grinding, shitty internet disconnecting me, people too good at the game beating my noob ass, people shit talking me, or any of the other bullshit online multiplayers have. Why no company around has the decency of making Battlefield 1 and 3's tank missions into a full-fledge game I have no idea.
The Entire Halo saga has plenty of tank missions and lots of vehicle sections, granted, it's Sci-Fi and not real vehicles, but it's something
Try Project Reality, you might like it.
@Schrodinger_1488 Too bad you can't play 90% of them without having said vehicles, and that 60% of them are glitchy messes
ARMA 3 should be on your radar then. To make the experience worthwhile joining a clan isn't necessary but it is a lot better to have a tank crew that actually thinks instead of having to be spoonfed. Some clans offer simple PvE scenarios, others a mix, so you should try it out. The downside is that ARMA 3 is a bit expensive (with all the DLC like tanks and marksman, etc , etc).
Good news of war thunder you don’t have to worry about shit talking as there’s no voice chat and the text chat is usually never used
I still stand by my belief that balance beyond early cold war is impossible, now even more so with your comment about player nationalism with high tier MBTs. No matter what happens, no matter how it's balanced, one part of the community is going to get mad, get very loud about it, get it changed in their favor, and then get some other part of the community mad only for the cycle to continue in perpetuum.

GOD!!!! I been seeing a spat of those asshats the last two weeks, you got a good spot of cover and are taking out a few opponents... your scope view shakes around, you pan out to see what the eff is going on, and here is some dinky light tank trying to squeeze his way in... it's the only time I wish there was a teamkill option you can use and get away with.
@@dimwittedfool Yes that is what we need, 1 free team kill an hour to vent the frustration at those idiots. I'm tired of ranting in chat those assholes need to uninstall and go play Mario Cart or GTA5 with the 10 year olds and this not bumper cars with tanks even in AB. So many times i got taken out because some dickhead blocks my view, pushes me from behind cover.

I had one match it was conquest American desert cap over at the train station, gas station spawn for our team. I spawn in the Russian moon rover and some dumb-ass leopard 1 decided to stop right in front of me so obviously I ended up running straight into him which pissed him off enough to constantly ram me for the entirety of the match. (Which lasted about three and we lost super hard)
The one thing I was always advocating for when I played War Thunder was infinite spawns. I honestly believe that would've helped alleviate a lot of problems.
Being able to play all the way to the end of a match would mean more RP/SL, helping with the grind. It's also less time spent in loading screens, and more time playing.
Constant flow of reinforcements means an ongoing battle that will require playing the objectives to win. This also helps with spawn camping to a degree. As it gives the defending team a chance to rid themselves of the camper(s).
The 2017 April Fool's event was proof of concept for this. We had infinite spawns and everyone had fun. Granted, it was the first introduction of modern tanks/helicopters. Which was the driving force behind everyones enjoyment. But being able to just keep playing, I think, was huge. I never saw any complaints during that event, and people were even begging for Gaijin to keep it.
That would give an ufair advantage based on topbr of the game to certain nations, for example I play Russia and germany, If I got into a 5.3 topbr match I would have 8 tanks to use at least while my italian and german enemies would have 3 good ones max and then would have to use lower br vehicles if they even had them in their lineup.

I refused to continue playing after my 3rd match in this year's summer event. As much as i want the new vehicles, i won't allow myself to go through that level of stress. College already gives my daily dosage of it.
Also, making a game frustrating in it's nature isn't a shot into the devs own foot? By making players mad about numerous things, won't make them think rationally. Things will end badly, no doubt about it.

Same here, while I do have to agree that Gaijin messes a lot of things up (and i think thats still an understatement). The Game is still fun and if you just try and learn about tanks and your opponents then you can just avoid balancing issues and other stuff. I got good at the game even without paying even a single bit into the game and got to around rank 4-5 in 4 different nations until i then got myself premium to speed things up and support gaijin. Honestly yes they are doing mistakes but I feel like thats just a common theme these days. Battlefield 5, CoD and basically any other game company has balancing issues, way too many glitches and they are all way too greedy for money. Considering that war thunder is f2p its a quite good game and I'm having a blast playing it. (Also still better than WoT I have lost all hope in that game)

Vinn Kia,...I see merit to your idea. However, I live in Fantasy Land and like my solution better: "the highest BR in the player's lineup is the BR they are queued for. The BR is the BR, no uptier, no downtier and you'll just have to deal with the extra 1 to 5 minutes of time it takes for the matchmaker to find enough players of that BR for a battle."
Funnily enough, I made the argument that Gaijin intentionally makes the game frustrating to boost sales during a stream of another WT youtuber whom I shall not name, and they said that I must just suck at the game because "It's so easy to earn xp and SL in this game".
you are right, the game is engineered to frustrate players into spending money.
In the last couple of weeks I have made it a point to start each match with 'Good luck and have fun everyone =)' in all chat (or something similar). That is to try and remind everyone, including myself, that we are playing a game with each other, and even though it is a war game, we are not actually enemies.
It helps stabilize a good mood in myself, and in most cases other players will chime in, giving the matches a more amicable atmosphere. I would encourage everyone to try something like this =)
that's actually a good advice. Giving a simple "GLHF" can shield you from frustation in game and even when someone answer back nicely, it can even improve your whole day

I can raise my hand on few of the things - I quit the game due to grind problems and that I wouldn't spend a single coin on this game. It made me quite mad during grinding XP - not even counting events, when you were unable to play on certain rank (T-34-85(D-5T) ahem.). Also would myself toxic sometimes, thats also why I pretty much rage quitted and uninstalled this game - and I'm up to date only with devblogs and few youtubers.
I might quit too because I want the mig-9 and doing the maths alone just to get it and not the whole grind just to get to tier v. Average of 500 points a match and a match takes around 7 minutes and 96000 total points to get so .
..1334 minutes (22 hours)like come on. Who's got time for that sh*t. That doesn't count for the time to grind out tier 1 to 4 and buying those planes because game mechanics (you know if you play.) That price is also way to expensive (300,000 just to get it and another 90,000 to train the pilots)and make me bankrupt before I get it. Getting to attomic age of flying is impossible (jet powered airplanes usually at tier v or tier lV) unless 💵💵💵(1920 golden eagles )

What I did was just unlock what I liked and played that. I have almost all of some of the tech trees unlocked but I wont buy more. Once you past tier 3 imo the game just becomes dumb across the board
everything above rank 4/5 is a lie. Don't grind for anything above that point and you can have fun.
In my total of 8 years playing War Thunder, i have seen some good and bad changes.
Although i do not agree with the HEAT-FS change for all top tier tank, i can see it from gaijin's perspective. They make a free game for all to enjoy, but they've got to make money somehow, if it were too easy, why would you purchase GE and or premium/premium vehicles.
Anyways, my point is; This HEAT-FS change has been made to annoy players to an extent to kind of force players into buying GE. Which is a short term solution. And this has become a trend with gaijin. They only change things to make money in the short term, but definitely not in the long term. And i definitely agree with the points you brought up spookston. The community is sour. But so are gaijin's ways of implementing these frustrating changes. And in my personal opinion, the best way to deal with this is just to either accept it, or to get in contact with gaijin and make some points about the entire ordeal, but do keep it friendly. Otherwise gaijin will most likely not do anything with it.
So please to anyone reading this ginormous comment, be nice to gaijin, and maybe they'll be nice to us as a playerbase. And i can almost assure all of you, that if we are more positive and more constructive in our critisizms, it'll help us in the long run.

WoT community just makes fin of all the problems and in that sense, WG Is More friendly and can make fun of his mistakes too, Also they are trying to solve the problems.
WT community Is on fire 24/7 and blame you if you like any other tanks game (specially WoT) instead of the "superior" game.
Another problem is probably the language and nation barrier. War Thunder is a Russian made game. However, many of the most popular War Thunder channels and a LOT of criticism, constructive or not, is in English.
I can't imagine everyone in the WT dev team or office speaks, reads, or can write English - and who can expect them to? Problems have to cross the language barrier to get fixed, and some might get lost in translation entirely.
The first step of being a game dev is to know how to speak english. You cannot do codes or progress in the job without english which is fundamental. It's a basic requirement for game devs to have some english basis. In France it's pretty much the case to access those types of schools...

War Thunder is a drastically more complex game, also the game engines are different and since for the most part we're not programmers we have no clue how easy or hard it is to change things. Wargaming maybe fixes bugs but they just cannot balance the game. World of Tanks suffers from ridiculous powercreep. WT powercreep is nonexistent compared to WoT. Who gives a shit about some silly little bug when the whole game is unplayable.

The whole HEATpocalypse thing came from a good feedback ironically, the community want Gaijin to at least give inferior kinetic shells for tanks that has HEAT at stock and no other rounds (granted on tanks that has and used them once, like Leo 2A4, 2A5) until they reach their high tier kinetic which varies usually at Rank IV and V modules (which mind you, will cost around 100k RP to get there), this isn't hard to implement nor breaks the game as much as it already is (since there are already a bunch of vehicles that got it on stock) and it turns out to be making everybody uses HEAT as stock.
Rubbing the salt to the wound by adding the late T-72B series which has pretty much great Chemical munition protection.
I'm not saying the community isn't at fault, but Gaijin took a metal bat and slammed it on our balls on this move, I would be ok if matchmaking of top tier tanks are mixed like planes, but they usually favor EU vs US/UK/JP or Axis vs Allies which pretty much make the game can be pretty one sided with how Gaijin decides to balance thing using Rock, Paper, Scissor logic

I had a gander on the WT forum, and I wanted to see if people would like to see the FV215 project implemented into the game since its a relitavely iconic tank from the 50s and a fascinating project. Someone turned around and slandered me for even raising this question. He then told me I should just go play World of Tanks instead. Never been on any of Gajins forums again after that.

That's why I take 2-5 month breaks from the game at a time. Ill get into it, grind whatever event is up at that time, or grind whatever tank/nation I'm playing as, finish, and be burnt out until another 2-5 months later. The only caveat is Summer and Winter events, which I will grind almost every time.
I think this video hit the issue right on the head, especially about the summer event and how the community will do anything to complete the tasks, Considering I faced off against a spawn camping chat mod.
I hope you eventually make longer form discussion videos like this. This and the WT review video from a bit ago were great, however it feels like you have a lot more you want to say, but are holding it back to keep things short. Personally I'd happily sit here and listen to an hour or longer discussion on large topics like these.
Why does some of this sound like how the English Dubbing industry and anime fans interact?
Anyone else miss the old days during the beta when the grind was more or less nation level up for unlocking the next tier of aircraft and tanks.
Also back when the player base was semi competent on what they ware doing and they did not ignore a map pings of potential enemies and not drive straight line it to a point and get shot from their flanks.
I recently played a view rounds of war thunder and was surprised that the issues the game has are pretty much the same as they were when I last played it about four years ago.
The community and the way Gaijin approaches things. I really enjoyed your Tiger problem video and was curios if there were any tanks that have a high BR without actually being good or as good as their BR would suggest. Also if there were any "breakpoints" regarding battle rating.
I noticed that taking out my Panther II or Tiger IIs (BR 6.7) will almost always get me into a BR 7.7 match where I get to fight M60, T54, IS4, Conqueror and AMX 30 that are all better in pretty much everything.
Then I make a 6.3 lineup with Jagdpanther and Tiger II (P). I get matched down most of the time and it's a turkey shoot.
So do players form their lineups to accommodate this? Are there BR "breakpoints"? It's just a shame that my Panther II is pretty much the only tank I have a talisman on.

@Reverend Krieger Durden Tyler sr Look, I've stopped playing for plenty of reason and so called Revenge Kills or CAS are not the issue. There are way more important issue at stake:
-Paying a HUGE amount of SL in repair when you are killed,
-the grind to get from pre WW2 era of tank or plane to post era of tank or Planes.
-Balance issues in vehicles and maps,
-not rewarding helpfull player (repairing an allied tank or spotting with a light tank)
-Points being divided unequally when you capture a point.
-Helicopters being unplayable except if you take the premium ones.
-KillCam

And I think it will tie with what you said. What is enfuriating about CAS is paying SL because someone took a plane and killed you just because you got him in his tank. No loose of SL and you wouldn't be that salty about it. Also the whole concept of killcam is dumb. You shouldn't have a killcam. You want to see who got you: look at the replay. CAS wouldn't be half as enfuriating to play against if people would not have kill cam.

I wake up at an absurdly early hour in the morning,working incredibly long day at work, and when I come home I can't be bothered to deal with the frustrations of the game.
So, Gaijin makes money off my premium time and purchasing of premium tanks, and the occasional gold purchase for a unique camo, or decorative item, and I just enjoy the game for what it is:
Tank yeets big stabby boi at 2.7km and makes enemy tank kaboom.
Even with all of my premium benefits, the game is still incredibly infuriating at times.

04:11 For me events like Operation Suffer are like hearing the Purge siren, all rules of engagement are turned off for the period of the event. So i pick the most cancerous combo of Radkampfwagen 90 and G91 R/3 (and im a good player) and annoy the hell of the enemy team. like on the map Tunisia spawn on the Southeast side spawn set your gun on 1100 meters and drive just a couple of meters on the beach and voila you can shoot at all enemy that spawn in the north east immediatly. so i make 5 spawnkills at the beginning of the match usually then someone reacts finally and kills me and i cna spawn in my G91 so in less then a minute match time i have 5 kills and im allready in a awesome CAS jet and probably 3 out 5 killed guys did go back to hangar so the enemy has already less players then my team. With the G91i usually with 4 missiles i make 4 kills (when papa stalin doesn't makes magic protection for Russian tanks again) and so normally a match for me ends with 15 - 20 kills and a random number of assists.

Great vid. I have to agree, the whole community topic is a double edged sword. Both the devs and community are harming the game in more ways than one.
i also think that the general lack of communication leads to this, like the warthunder facebook pr guy is fun and self aware but theres no presence on reddit which seems to be the biggest english speaking social site for warthunder yet is ignored, while other devs like battlestategames that made tarkov made reddit their home for english speaking communication and twitch for russian speaking

When I started playing war thunder, I grinded as far down as the mighty BT-7 and i was getting into games with 76 and 105mm gun shermans, what the hell am I supposed to do? And how am I supposed to enjoy it? Wt, after 3 years of waiting for it to come to Xbox, was a massive disappointment

As someone who plays alot of games and when it comes to war thunder i have played most nations to tier 3/4 other than China and Sweden and I'm at rank 2 with ships in most cases. I'm fully aware of how certain tanks feel imbalanced but i find once you experience every tech tree in a certain BR range you learn how most vehicles are just as good as their comparable counterparts. (Although there are some examples of plain laziness when it comes to matching BRs with tanks, planes and especially boats that are completely better/worse than others in the same BR)

When a youtube video about a free-to-play game causes me to reflect on my own behavior, you know something has to be wrong with either the game or the person. In this case it's a heaping pile of both.
Can i just say as an Australian player who finds it difficult to get a server with less than 260 ping... (and by difficult i mean 95 times out of 100, it's 260ms ping or higher. The lowest we see here in Australia is 150-160ms)
A lot of the frustration can definitely come down to the servers being absolute crap. They claim that most of the checks are client side but if that were the case, you would shoot and even if the other person shot at the same time, your round would still register on the server, and i think we all know from experience that just isn't true. #GhostShellsNeverDie
Playing at 260ms ping is by far the worst handicap i've had in any game and it's so frustrating. Not only do some shells just never register, but when you aim at a weak point and shoot, the server doesn't register it (because client side checks don't actually exist) and your shell has now hit a completely different spot on the tank you were aiming at.
A lot of American and European players may not have, or may never experience this sort of thing due to the local servers, but trust me, it's there. Pile on top of that, teammates who are also frustrated or just straight up don't care about playing for the team or winning because they just want to grind for themselves... The entire experience of what the game COULD be, goes right out the window and you are just sitting in your own salt.
Coming from World of Tanks, i was genuinely excited about War Thunder for it's realism and physics/hit systems. However even on World of Tanks they have servers that work. Client side checks that actually register shots fired as you die. Anyone who says it's not possible or it's too difficult is just lying to themselves.
TL;DR - If Gaijin actually cared about their game and their community, there would be a lot of small fixes made that would make a HUGE difference for the games entertainment level.
@@siftervinnie2inNFS Completely agree. They either need to make PvE Viable for grinding, or fix the servers for those of us that have no choice but to play at over 200ms ping.

AManNamed2 nah, if you remotely like tanks or military aircraft there isn’t another combined arms game like this one. It’s frustrating, it’s toxic, but the vehicles are cool and grinding your favourite tank or jet out is incredibly appealing, as miserable as the journey may be. This is coming from someone who has German ground, and air maxed out, along with soviet ground as well. I’ll play the game and get the vehicles I’m interested in, then stop playing until some more get added. As an example, I haven’t played since getting the Mig-21MF and T-72B, but I plan on coming back to grind the new T-72B3 coming in the next update, then I’ll stop playing again. Until another game very similar in concept comes, with modern jets and tanks with semi realism, warthunder will retain a player base.

True there's just like only few good ww2 military vehicles game in the market that are in right balance of simulator and arcade, the other spectrum are just way to arcade and the other half just way too simulator and complicated and hard to get into. Also WT haben both air, naval and ground vehicles in one game.

I'm just starting out, still on the first tiers and I was about to buy a month of premium to advance a bit faster to get to the "better" tiers. But if the frustration never ends and actually gets worse as you progress, there is no way I'm going to invest any more time or any money on this platform.
Just remove the 4 ATGMS on the G.91 A-4B etc
or just move this thing to 9.0 so they have a bad time against the higher br AA, and the spam getting less

If you say that type 90 is underperforming and Gaijin buffs it then other nation players Will be angry that they buffed it and on.
Imo anything later than 1946 shouldn't have ever been added in to the game, and they should've gone the other way (add older vehicles) instead.

Good video. Final someone talked not about the game but about game's community. Imho you missed a very important part which is that the community divides in 2 eu/us and ru.
Being an active member of both I can firmly say that the ru community a bit more toxic in its behaviour, but that's in general aspect, perhaps there are enough assholes everywhere around the glob.

Everyone has a love-hate relationship with War Thunder. Some people like me really enjoy it sometimes but other times I just find it stupid and annoying. Usually I just play a few games and the second something happens to me that is downright stupid I exit the game.

Do a tank brakedown on Red Faction Guerilla! The EDF tanks are similar to modern vehicles but are futuristic and different enough to be really interesting. To my knowledge there is a medium tank (my favourite), a heavy tank and a Missile tank of sorts.
