I've got an Armitron Rubik and a Griffy. Solid stainless steel cases and bands. Love both. Armitron has a great history and is very much under appreciated. Nice video.

just got my rubik a week ago and i love it for an everyday digital, it’s great that you can get it with a mesh bracelet as well bc so many cheap digital watches with metal bands will rip your wrist hair out.

I bought an Armitron skeleton auto for myself on my first father's day. It's still in my collection, one of the most comfortable bracelets at any price point. I credit this watch for my 'habit', 14 years and a few dozen watches later the Armitron is still ticking beside the other 19 in an ever evolving collection.

You are a breath of fresh air! After this I believe I'll be adding a Armitron to my collection. I'm drawn to company stories like this. Thank you!

@@thehumblehorologist6091 This is the only verbose reply you will get from me, but I wanted you to know WHY I appreciate your new channel and content! I mean this. I hope your audience grows and you build this thing. As a lover of watches with an interest in horology I tire of snobs and divisive voices. We have politics for that. Hobbies are the escape. I have been watching your other vids and the work into good audio and production value is showing. More importantly, a good natured positive addition to youtube watch content is being made. I will close with a story. One night last year I was coming home from a photo session. I am in Chicago's Union station. There is a young couple coming out of the Amtrak section a little overwhelmed and turned around. The husband has a loud 50 or 55mm Invicta on. I tell them where they need to go and give them some recommendations for supper. As I walk away I tell the young man, nice Invicta! He beamed. I think his smile was brighter than that watch. I get home, go to a watch forum that night and saw someone post a wrist shot of their new Invicta and have 3 or 4 people insult him. One man beamed, another one...who knows what he felt? There are watches I would not buy, but someone else will. Let them enjoy it.

Ahh, Armitron: America's Watch. I work at a hotel, and have a six watch collection. I'm not even really a watch guy, I just caught the bug after building my first watch last year (Vostok Amphibia). Anyway, I did a wrist check on one of our guests the other night, and he was wearing a vintage Armitron, similar to the model in this vid. I'm 40 years old, and haven't seen an Armitron since I was a kid. We must have spoken for a good 20 minutes about that watch. It was so cool to see an Armitron in the wild after all these years. When it comes to watches, there is no point in being a snob. "Wear WATCH ya like" should always be the mantra.

My daily driver is an old Armitron dive-style hunk of junk. I wore it at MCRD San Diego in the late 80s. It sat in my garage in a parts bin for 20 years... I recalled it after getting into watches just a few years ago. Cleaned it up, a new battery and crystal. I wear it Every Day at work. My $5 beater has become my go-to for work and horseplay.

Greetings. Too many of the commentators on You Tube tend to forget that to tell the time, these are the type of watches that most people tend to buy. While I have no experience of this particular brand, Armitron seems rather akin to Sekonda - the largest selling brand of watch here in the UK. There is absolutely nothing wrong with providing an attractive, often interesting, and well made product that anyone can afford.

My first watch I bought as an adult was an Armitron. The band disintegrated over the years, though I owe a lot to that watch. Thousands of miles on the bike, running, hours of workouts, camping, hiking and other adventures. I have a G-Shock now that I bought on sale at Wal-Mart. I would not hesitate to buy another Armitron.

My last 3 watches were Armitrons. Problem is I can get the case back off to change the battery....but I can't get the casebook back on! (Lesson learned....in the future I''ll pay the $8 at my local jeweler for battery change.). Armitron looks just as nice as Citizen or Seiko or other high end brands. People look down on Armitron probably because they can be found in discount stores like a Walmart. As for myself and my troubles of changing batteries in wrist watches. I've gone solar (Citizen, Seiko solar).

Watch Snobs tend to be the people who wear watches to impress others and not because they appreciate the Art of Watch making or the History of Horology.

I have a few armitrons they never let me down, I prefer the Stainless Steel case analog watches they make. Their digital offerings are robust but still below Casio which rules the digital market as far as I'm concerned.

I never tire of his story. Thanks for that. I own a several Armitron watches. I even dove with one. My latest is the Horizon 20/5477. The instructions are very vague. I still can’t figure out how to set the date.

Picked up a 50m dive style “Pepsi” watch for $30 just to add it to my “Under $50” six-pack.
I wore it for a day and was surprised how much I like it. It’s not worth more than $30 but it wears like a champ.
The other 5 (all 100m water resistant):
    Casio Duro $49
    Invicta Pro Diver auto $45
    Timex Std Diver $40
    Nautica Tin Can Bay $38
    Q&Q Solar $30

Nice collection! Good to see an Invicta in there. Talk about people being snobbish over a watch. Invicta gets so much hate for no reason.

@@koilvondailey8030 Well, maybe not “for no reason,” but I get it. The pro diver is reputed to be a really good watch, for example. But I think it has more to do with the way they market their watches, along with the garish monstrosities they sell. Those two things make it hard for a lot of people to take them seriously. Just my opinion.

@@thehumblehorologist6091 good point, as I'm not a fan of how they market them, either, but their Divers are nice, at least. They do have some ugly styles, though, so, another good point. I'm not innocent, either, so I can't really talk. There's a certain Chinese watch brand I hate on, but only because they got too big for their britches, and bit the hand that fed them.

I love when I see people wearing any watch that isn't a smart watch of some kind. Then I show them my seiko 5 and show them that for the same money they spent on their MVMT watch, they could get to a higher level of horology. It's always positive. I personally wouldn't wear an Armitron, but I would never look down on someone who does.

They have very poor warranty policies in different countries - not like Casio with a robust global support network.
