where you buy the steel case I need one to I step on my moonswatch Uranus and it broke the whole thing the glass the case but the movement still works and the dial is fine I was thinking to super glued but the glass is all cracked..
I hope whoever at Swatch came up with the idea of finding a way to get people to spend that much on a $10 watch got a raise, a nice bonus, and a commendation in their personnel file. That's a once in a career idea.
@lsdzheeusi I don't think it was a decision made that low. Considering that Swatch, Omega, Blancpain, Tissot, etc are all owned under the same umbrella corp. But yeah. Someone made a decision worth billion for sure.
Another challenging one, well done! A chaperter ring in between the dial and case, genius move, prevent the dial from metal scratching with touching the case, and the stem will be center. Very peaceful Vedio compared to previous video😂
Thanks, I enjoy these conversion videos. Once you feel as if you have the designs near perfected, do you plan on selling the movement ring and spacer to those of us modders who don't own 3D printers?
It was an option... it's called the Omega Speedmaster, LOL. Surprisingly, genuine older models aren't too crazy price wise. Still a handful more than the MoonSwatch though.
Does the copy moonswatch movement need the spacer and conversion ring? I've seen someone saying a vd53 spacer is all that is needed for those ones? I know you have used a legit moonswatch on this video but I also saw the snoopy one with the copy movement. Thanks
So the dial is too small of diameter for the case. I wonder if you could incorporate a sort of chapter ring into the dial spacer to cover the holes on the perimeter of the dial.
I'm putting a real Mission to Earth in a Pagani, but I need to space it off the front of the case so the pushers connect. Gotta be a little difference between the two. That movement on the regular swatch is just garbage. I was willing to throw away $300 on it...plus the Pagani....all so I don't have to scratch up my real Speedy during the summer. Now, I'm so deep into it, I should've just bought a burner Speedy from Japan. I'm learning and having fun though!!!! 🍻🍻🍻😆😆😆
Love the look on this one & your work. But don't push yourself mate, do it as long as you love it. I don't mind if you wanna take a pause & think about how to balance cost & profit from this better 👌🏼
These vids are super helpful in understanding the limitations and workarounds needed for this kind of mod. I was encouraged by one of your last videos to give it a go with a "replica" Mars. I have plans of modifying the 12-hour dial and just make it a dummy, as well as placing the hands in the same configuration as the actual Alaska project. I realize that the running seconds isn't the same as the OG, but I can only do so much here. lol. I have a an actual Jupiter that I'm kicking around the idea of doing this. I wanted to try the Alaska Project Project first. But my biggest hurdle right now is a lack of access to a 3D printer. Also not sure I want to go down that road with that watch yet. I may just sell it as is. Anyway....sorry to hear this is a real drag for you. I also do mods and home repair and servicing, but I've never done more than just work on friends and relatives watches for free. The idea of being responsible for a paying customers watch is daunting to say the least. Cheers my friend! Thank you so much for the information you've provided us!
OH! and I also ordered one of your movement rings for the replica watches from eBay. I don't know if you'll ever offer the rings you discuss on here...but if you do, you've already got one sale, whether I pull the trigger on the Jupiter or not. Cheers!
First, thank you for supporting the channel. Next, it's not a drag on me so much as it's too stressful for what it nets me. And not one or two, but A LOT of requests. LOL. I'm not stopping doing them, but I'm being very selective about who's I do. Finally, buy a 3d printer! They are relatively cheap second hand and you'll love having it. Especially when you discover Thingiverse and Printables websites. I always encourage "to learn to fish instead of just buying the fish at the store' mentality. Lastly, thanks again for watching. Stay tuned for more.
This is pretty cool and I guess it's nice to have the Omega logo, but I can't help but think that the VK63 is so much better movement for a DIY project. The quartz step of the second hand is ugh... The sweet of the VK63 makes it feel like a much better quality watch.
I love the Seiko VK63 movement. And yes, It's probably (marginally) better than ETA G10, but it's a different chronograph layout and the MoonSwatch dial will never line up with it.
@@WatchThisA Yeah, sorry, I didn't mean to obtain the same result or use the moonswatch dial. I was comparing similar type of watches. As in the "homages" to the Omega Speedmaster with VK63 movement vs the moonswatch. The VK63 even matches the Omega better than the Moonswatch!
Hi, firstly, thank you so much for this video and effort given🖤 Also wanted to ask a few questions: 1. Would not G10.211 fit better? 2. Is there any difference between your 3D models and PE50 from Ali? 3. You sell 3D printed spacer on eBay and used them to fill the gap on the previous video so what is the difference between rings you printed for this video and the spacer you used? Many thanks in advance and obviously like for your video🫶🏻🫶🏻
1. I'm not sure I understand the differences between a G10.212 and a G10.211 2. The genuine Moonswatch with the G10.212 has completely different ring than the replica with the PE50. Two different movement diameters. 3. The 3d printed movement ring I have for sale is for the replica based PE50 movement. Not for the genuine G10.212 movement shown in this video. This G10.212 movement ring is way more 'finicky' and I don't feel like it's reliable enough to sell as a "product". The last thing I want is unhappy patrons returning a bunch of rings because they weren't "quite right". That said, the .STL files are free for anyone to print and tweak for themselves.
Thanks for the video. I am trying to do the same, but mine (a very early release Pluto) seems to be a bit different. After I break the back case open, I found there is no hole to release the crown. Do anyone know what should I do?
Too bad you can't source cases designed for G10 movements instead of the VK63. That would save you some time and aggrevation. Looking at VK63 specs, it shows stem height of 2.25 and pusher height of 2.80. I can't find tech docs for G10.
Maybe. But a genuine speedmaster case is big money if you can find it. And without having one to measure I couldn't say for certain whether the G10.212 would fit in it.
Wanted to try this but adding an aliexpress omega crown, but not sure if the crowns I see will fit. How would I check fitment? I see that the crowns have a sleeve to screw overtop of the threads but can I be sure it’s a good size with the info from aliexpress
So many variables at play here. I wouldn't even know where to start. Do you have a link? It might be one of those things where you just buy it and see.
Yes, they are for sure removable. I just don't think there are replacements available for this case though. If they were, for cheap, then it would make overcutting a less expensive mistake.
Since these are so "custom" I have avoided doing so up until now. And did you hear the part about not doing it yourself?!? LOL. Just kidding. But seriously, I wish I could show you the pile of rings and spacers I've printed that weren't quite right. Just a tweek here or a tweek there to be perfect. I just don't feel confident in that as a marketable good. That said, reach out to me on IG if you still still want one printed for you.
You missed the part of the video where I encouraged you NOT to do this? LOL. Reach out to me on IG (link in the description) if you REALLY want me to print you one with no liability attached.
Haha, no worries! These things launched my channel and if it wasn't for the stress involved I would do all of your watches without issue. And maybe if I up the price it would make it a little more worth it. Or possibly even more stressful. Who knows 😝
LOL. Thank you for 'not' supporting the channel. The ring for the Snoopy and the Rings for this are completely different. Two different movements. They are not interchangeable.
This is an exercise in futility, starting off with a crap caliber inside an equally crap case and then trying to make a legitimate watch out of it, what is the point really? At least put a seiko 5 caliber which is far better and also mechanical and does not break the bank
I think you answered your own question. The point is to take a crap caliper inside of a crap case and try to make a legitimate watch out of it. Also, the Seiko 5 movement is not a chronograph. I'm very familiar with those caliber and they are amazing, but not much use in a chronograph. I'm still looking for an aftermarket mechanical chronograph movement that will fit and line up with the hands on the MoonSwatch dial.

For the channel, and to help people improve their watches, trust me when I say that I searched high and low for a mechanical chrono that lined up with the dial hands of this watch.

Love the thumbnail title. Ripping a movement from Uranus may hurt if the winder pin isn't removed
Great vid! Considering doing this on my mission to the moon. I love the watch but it really is a shame a metal case wasn't an option.
