Daddy Walton was a real hands on dad.....thank you Ralph Waite. The kids today are missing out ......Olivia was a truly dedicated Mom . Her family was her career and I thank her!
What a wonderful tribute. I am the youngest of 9 children and growing up our family would gather around to watch The Waltons every week. Ralph gave us so much joy in the way he portrayed John Walton Sr.. RIP.......goodnight Daddy.
Best actor in tv history. You can actually forget that's an actor reading a script when you watch him. That's rare. And thank you so much, Earl Hamner Jr. My family still laughs at the Baldwin ladies.
thank you for this tribute. Ralph Waite began the series as a lost self absorbed man and doing the role the John transformed him into the man he really was: a wonderful husband and father. He always had time for his children and his wife. I wish all men would watch these episodes and learn how to be true father's and husbands.
Thank you sir for your remembrance of Ralph Waite. For me he shall forever be John Walton as he and it's entire cast touched and continues to move our hearts and souls. God bless he and his cherished memory. The Waltons portray a family brought closer in tough time and a period of television commitment to decency. Earl Hamner your testament shall endure.
Very insightful speech Ralph Waite made. I think he realised what all of us realise: this TV show demonstrated values, fortitude, integrity, honesty, etc. all things we aspire to, as well as a closeness of family. His acting was flawless... his character was always believable and one never thought of him as acting the part of John Walton, he "was" John Walton. Many of us still watch the show, myself included, and any other he was in. Always a treat.
I watched, my children then watched, and now my grandchildren are watching The Waltons. I'm so thankful to everyone who participated in the making of the show. I am saddened each time a character passes, yet thankful I can pop in a DVD, go back in time, and revisit "old friends". Goodnight, Mr. Waite, and thank you. I always wanted a daddy like John Walton!
I have to be honest, I was driving into work the morning they announced the passing of Ralph and my eyes teared up. I grew up watching the Waltons, I loved that show and still watch it today. When I was a very young boy my mom and dad would fight all of the time before there divorce, and the Waltons was my escape and it was my dream family. Rest in peace Ralph, you will be missed.
We've lost our way with what we think is progress through social media, video games, and other types of entertainment that takes away from the important stuff. I saw a family of 4 sitting in a restaurant and all of them had their heads buried in cell phones not saying one word to each other the whole time they were waiting on their food. I guess when or if the children get married, they'll text their parents to invite them to the wedding.
I wish this video would have been longer The Waltons my favorite tv show The Waltons made a difference in my life God Bless you Ralph and the rest of the cast.....
I write these words without shame. The Waltons is one of the few television dramas which has the power to touch my heart and bring tears to my eyes. I enjoyed them as a child and still enjoy them as an adult.
That show I was a teenager when it was on... I raised my children watching this every morning before school.. Now my 2 little grand children are watching them at grandmas house... Thank you for the memories!!
The Waltons showed family unity and love. How everyone cared for one another. How they stuck together and showed support for one another in good and bad times. Something you hardly see in families today. Today, there are too many dysfunctional families. In those days, one made things work out. One supported one another, not like today. One didn't give up.Plus, they appreciated what they had. Today, there is too much competition among families. Then there is no faith like there was yrs. ago. It's sad. The Waltons really show family love and unity.
I will all ways remember this wonderful show. I watch it on INSP four times a day. I look forward to it everyday and on Sundays when it comes on. He will be with Ellen and Will in Heaven. Thank God he was here on earth with us.
The Waltons , I love their show, John Walton was the father that helped many families get through the difficult times. Today, the year is 2016, I still watch them, when ever I see the program posted.
the walton's ....the walton's such a huge part of me and my sister's lives we watched it every week and loved it ...when i watch the re-run's it makes me feel warm knowing we shared that hour i was 9 and she 7 when it started back in 1973 . happy times sis , beans on toast for supper never an episode missed .....
What a beautiful Tribute to a wonderful man, and talented actor. There was so much to be gained by tuning into the Walton's. I don't miss any episodes (reruns) When I watch them, I gained knowledge, wisdom, insight and utmost regard for the writers of this wonderful program... and what I took away from it - is that all of the Walton Clan on an off screen are every day human beings and FAMILY! If we each took one thing from this show, from each actor, from Ralph and Michael, the world would be a better place. They showed the viewers how to live under even the most difficult of times. How to survive, how to remain a strong family, how to have utmost Faith. Heaven certainly gained a greatness when Ralph entered Heaven. The words often spoken, " Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia " always touch my heart! The eloquence and delivery at the beginning of each show to my minds eyes was more then just a TV show.. it was wholesome values that I as a viewer will always embrace, Good Night Ralph Waite.
I love this. Thank you for making this video. Thanks to Mary McDonough for sharing it on Facebook. This world lost another light, when they lost Daddy (John) Walton.Rest in peace, Ralph Waite. You will be sorely missed.
I write this without shame. The Waltons is one of just a few television dramas which has the power to touch my heart and bring tears to my eyes. I enjoyed them as a child, and still enjoy them as an adult.
alas we lose another Walton (corabeth). Spent most of my childhood being abused by my caregivers. wishing l was a Walton. yet as a adult l still watch them reruns. R I P. guys.xx
Angela so sorry for you being abused l to was moved around alot with different people,b it when I watched the Walton's I could escape into my own world.
Angela Deen, I have empathy with you,as a Foster Child,I was also abused and The Waltons instilled in me great personal values, which would serve me well into my adult life and sometimes I wonder where certain of those values came from and as I thought,it would suddenly come to mind,"The Waltons",God had used that show to give me what I needed for later in life. Thank you Lord, for allowing me to share this moment with others,on this Thanksgiving Day 2019.
Thank you Ray, very moving. WE all grew up with the Walton's and learned so much from this family. My Kids today still watch the Walton's at Night. "Good Night Daddy, Meet you at the river"
I'm reminded how much this wonderful man was playing the part of John Walton, who I am sure most of us in our middle age can relate to while growing up.
Thanks for making the Video Of Ralph Waite Rest In Peace Ralph And Good Night Mr. Walton You Will Forever Be Missed. And Thank You Mary McDonough for sharing this video on Facebook.
i enjoyed the waltons when i 18 y.o. now im 63 y.o. and look at that im still love watching the waltons thank you earl hamner for bringing the waltons to the screen.
Agree. I think the appeal of the show was, as it was for me, who didn't want to be a Walton?, who didn't want to be part of a family like that?.I know I sure did.
Same .. Maybe because the show was based on a real family ie Errol Hammer , that that was what made it so wonderful, & of course without doubt the absolute wonderful cast , that casting director def knw his/her job ... Cannot say enough about this fabulous show ... I still watch re-runs ...
Unfortunitly colleges today would just tear it down. They would say it was unrealalistic (sp) too sweet, there wern't enough black people, no LBQ etc....
@@janeiwasduncan8463 I'm Black and I love the Waltons about to watch it on hallmark drama at 10pm. I think the show was very uplifting and when Blacks were on it they were shown in a positive light, love this show, so happy Judy (Mary Ellen)takes our comments and actually personally answer us.
I loved him as the father on The Waltons for years. I thought he was perfect as the father of Gibbs, on NCIS & as Booth's grandpa on Bones. He will be missed because he was loved by many.
It is regrettable that there wasn't one more Walton reunion movie made before Ralph Waite died. Now that Earl Hammer is also gone, it can never happen. We can be so blessed this show existed. I lived about 70 miles north of Schyler most of my life, and was raised in another larger, yet small VA town in the foothills of the Blue Ridge in the 1970s. Life today, on many levels, sucks today compared to life then.
Thankyou Ralph Waite for the portrayal of father figure for the Walton Family. Also paying tribute to Earl Hamner who provided the wisdom and the words for John to say. Currently enjoying re-runs and loving The Waltons over again!
I grew up watching the Walton's but never truly appreciated the show until I am now in my late 50's and watch the reruns religiously. I just love the values this show has to offer. I had a wonderful family with parents, and grandparents however I was an only child. Even though who would not have wanted to be a Walton, this show brings back memories of my own Mother and Grandparents who are now deceased. Also who would have loved having a husband like John Walton's character who adored his Olivia and was a wonderful father to his children. Rest in peace Ralph Waite and the rest of the wonderful actors and actresses that make the heavens shine a little brighter
O.M.G my favourite programme loved growing up watching the waltons I have the d.v.d collection and now my children love it too, it will never grow old it's apart of history in my family especially learning about the depression and way of life back then thank you Mr Earl Hammer!
I love this show and these people so very much, especially John and Grandpa. The show mimicked my life so closely it was uncanny at times. John even looked like my beloved father and grandpa was so very much like my favorite grandfather. There were seven of us kids in my family also. I will always love this show, these people from the very depths of my heart.
The world lost another awesome person who was an inspiration to families around the world and will continue to be. Its too bad our families have lost the fatherly touch of a man in many homes. Perhaps someday fathers will return.
He was the best father on TV. He stayed with the show until the end. As a fan of the show in the 70s I really appreciated that. You could tell he really was grateful and we were grateful to him
Grew up watching the Waltons the dad in the homecoming was ok but Ralph what a blessing to have him win the role may you RIP sir and thank you for all the memories !!!!!
Someone should make the A.H. at Time Warner who ensures that we cannot watch "The Waltons" episodes here on UA-cam watch this piece. When it's done, ask him how it makes him feel??? RIP, John Walton and all the other Walton characters who have passed. Looking forward to meeting up with you where "greed" doesn't come between us.
Wonderful! Thank you. I liked him as John Walton, Sr., and enjoyed him as Jackson Gibbs. He and Mark Harmon played well off of each other, and it was great RW could continue to act until the very end. I wish he could have been with us awhile longer.
Thank you so much for sharing this with all of us. Ralph will be truly missed by my Husband and I. he was our T V Dad.He reminds me of my own Father.and I will never forget him.RIP Ralph. and Goodnight daddy
Seeing this in 2024 I still watch him on Walton’s daily. I’ll be 64 Walton’s is still my favorite show. It matters not how many times I see it, this was just the best show ever. May they are R.I.P so many are gone now.

this was my favourite programmes when I was growing up and have watched the entire series afew times since as not only is it a beautiful touching programme it also brings back memories of those times Will Gear was my mum's favourite and she had a soft spot for Ralph Waite as well it's so sad that so many have passed now though but at least we will always have the episodes and feature films to watch again and again
Life is as fleeting as a strand of wild green grass, which Displays it's true green colour, symbolizing growth & beauty to the naked eye! The day soon comes when it is no more. Father/Daddy John Walton truly protrayed healthy fatherly characteristics to his children while displaying true love to his wife! This type of external outward affection resulted in... positive effects upon the whole family! His faith, values, morals and social interactions, truly televised a type of father and man which viewed a wholesome mentor to many! So thankful Ralph Waite for your many years of acting and allowing the light from within your soul...radiate & make a difference to many who watched the Walton's & to those who knew you on a personal level! Your role created a legacy! Rest in peace & one day once again. ..many will sit around the supper table...offering thanks for sharing your faith in a land of holiness & bliss!

Best all around television 📺 series winning several Emmy's also, The Waltons was a part of a kids every day life. We Thank You for the good times back then, and lessons that were learned. Bless You!
Family shows that had morals and values, love and hardship yet family helped one another ..prayer at the table and wisdom from grandparents and respect..no show will ever be like the Waltons..thanks for the memories .
I was there at that play in Petrolia I got to meet them both. Michael and I talked for awhile and shared some common things in each of our lives. U see I suffer with depression and the only thing that made me feel better was watching the Waltons and of course Little house on the prairie too. I wish they still made shows like this because they r like a good book that touches ur soul and takes u back to a time when life was simpler and more healthy and ppl had time for one another. I was so touched to meet them what an honour!!
This show to me was a part of my youth as a kid will always love this show and Ralph wait . I was so moved bye this show that I would tear up bye hearing the waltons music when elizabeth would run to toward the radio and try to turn it off that how a show impacted me and how full of worms this show had
I had the privilege of meeting him in person 5 times walking around the theater district in NYC and he was always gracious and gave me a few minutes of his time. To me I feel his character in the show was what most fans were fond of. The day he passed I was very down. I do have to say he was laid to rest in White Plains, NY and one day I plan to visit his grave as I live only about an hour away from the White Plains Cemetery where his remains were buried!
I’ve watched the waltons over & over & over & I never tire of it , the acting was so real & so brilliant, it was one of the nicest shows ever made ... So sad that some have passed away & hard to be without them .. Wish more shows were like the waltons they had morals & wisdom & made you feel good ... God bless them one & all ..
the show brought so much joy into our family's lives as much turmoil in the country with Vietnam and the perversion of the drugged out culture I was 12 when it first came on.
Jane we can learn more from this show the same things happen know just Handel y without being able to do the best thing and Ralf and the hammer family remind us that it's the best way we all want the same thing the Walton s shows. Us and helps us see this

Will Gear was my mum's favourite and she had a soft spot for Ralph Waite as well
it's so sad that so many have passed now though
but at least we will always have the episodes and feature films to watch again and again
What a great tribute!! Loved the last speech at the end. What a humble guy! Awesome!

RIP Ralph...just beautiful.....
@James Milly I am thank you James . Hope you’re also doin well ..
@James Milly Wow , beautiful part of the world .
I did cry the day he died, at the time i was watching this fine actor on Days of Our Lives. you will be missed.
Thank you very much for posting this video.
the show brought so much joy into our family's lives as much turmoil in the country with Vietnam and the perversion of the drugged out culture I was 12 when it first came on.
Jane we can learn more from this show the same things happen know just Handel y without being able to do the best thing and Ralf and the hammer family remind us that it's the best way we all want the same thing the Walton s shows. Us and helps us see this
