Like this comment so people can see the Video Summary:
    1. 0:28 Addressing the misconception around "hustle culture". You have to sleep in the bed you make. Should you work hard? Absolutely. But it is relative/subjective to the person.
    2. 3:21 It's not about how much you sleep, it's about what you do when you're awake. It's better to be happy and sleep an extra hour or two if you need it than to limit your sleep and be miserable "hustling".
    3. 5:38 Clarifying thoughts and opinions around "hustle". Hustle = passion. But your ambitions must match your actions / vice-versa. Hustle is putting it all on the line. There is no plan B. Burn the boats.
    4. 7:10 You shouldn't work to the point of burnout or unhappiness.
    5. 8:46 Sleep: Gary sleeps around 6 or 7 hours weeknights, and sometimes even up to 11 on weekends because recovery is important. Be self-aware what you need and what works for yourself.

Hustling and taking action is important, but what's the point of working a 12 hour day, if you spend half the time watching videos. I know people who get more done in 30 minutes than most would in 3 hours.... *Hustle without focus and a clear plan* can be a recipe for failure, anxiety, etc. Great video Gary, really enjoyed it man 🔥

    • @TeamGaryVee

So true Sebastian...If you love what you are doing, 12 houts can feel like 30 minutes!!

    • @Lissemt

Exactly I was trying to do my our thing, and I know I was hustling. I was practically no socializing or doing anything but I had not focused in a particular aspect so all my hustle was going nowhere. Once I found focus on the important thing a got a niche I am finally feeling I am getting results. Hustle just to hustle without a goal can be stressful and not efficient.

    2. Work on the things that realize that vision
    3. Sleep enough
    4. Eat healthy
    5. Exercise

Yeah I love this! I’m not gonna lie and even say I have a work ethic. I’m motivated by not having a boss, and spending as little time as possible making enough money to pay my bills and live so I can spend the rest of my time with my kids. I’m not driven by money or “success” at work... I’m motivated by time and experience. ☺️🤷🏻‍♀️

I think Gary nailed it with the part about people taking one portion of content out of context. It's all about balance and setting priorities aligned with what makes you happy and drives you. I've been documenting more of this in my own work because it's so important to document and balance work ethic, drive, and impact. People can often feel like priorities are out of whack because I work endlessly -- but I'm loving it -- so it's fueling me. Just find what fuels you and do it as much as you can while being a balanced, healthy person.
Time management based on what makes you happy, and how you act ... Such a good point!

    • @eddiejaoude
      @eddiejaoude 6 років тому

Its about quality not quantity. Everyone is different, everyone has different responsibilities, every week is different - this is where experience comes in and where people can know their limits. I spent 4 hours on Friday trying to fix some code, finally decided to stop for the day late in the evening, woke up the next morning and solved it in 20mins, I wont get that time back to spend with my family. I believe in working hard, but also knowing when its time to take a break, I am still learning to balance it all and be the most efficient with everything.

I've been put on game with your videos and haven't stopped watching the past two weeks straight, every day. I have been stuck in a repetitive cycle for the last 8 years or so. I have supported myself since I was 16, and have been working since senior year. I have experience ranging from foh and boh managing for new and old restaurants, working foh in an extremely well known chain of bars, and my resume is pretty solid tbh. You have given me the motivation to take the next step, and I am starting my brand this year. I just want to say thanks. Although I learned work ethic, without your help, I can honestly say you are giving me the tools to take the next steps. If what you say is real and you actually read these comments, from the kindness of my heart, THANK YOU

👌🏻 You should put all your time and effort into achieving the goals you have set. You have to actually put the hours in, have a schedule, daily goals, not just yearly. Look at how those smaller goals lead to your overall bigger goal. What's the end point and how can you get there. All the bits between these goals are learning curves and this is where your time and effort should be spent. Ok mistakes will be made, but that's what makes all of us improve every single day. Quality video Gary, great to watch.

I think this was the video many of us need to watch. A lot of times I feel people are misguided into thinking they need to work 18 hour days and are intimidated by that. But as you said, “this is a game of self-awareness”. The person who wins is the person who understands themselves and what they are trying to achieve, best. It’s not about copying the next guy it’s about building a strategy for yourself that works better than the next guys. My 2 cents on this, I guess 😂

Thanks for making this video. I get so tired of people saying you only need 4-6 hours of sleep. Look how much more work you can do if you wake up earlier. No not everyone's bodies work that way. Some people need 6-8 hours. Maybe some people need 9-10. I usually need around 8 if I have 6 or less I'm useless for the rest of the day and extremely fatigue and burned out. Not everyone is a morning person either, night owls guess what morning people, love the night. We are late night people and that's when we thrive and do our best work. Leave us alone morning people gurus lol.

The last clip was the kicker for me. It’s just business. Part of life, just gotta go through with it with positivity rather negativity. It’s going to happen anyways!

It's what you do when you're awake, you don't necessarily have to work crazy hours all day everyday. Great tip

Interesting. So timely considering a post I made earlier today. Much love and big kudos to you Gary and crew. There’s so much content from you out there I may disproportionally take a slightly different message from the bits I catch. I’m half way through your latest book. Thank you for all you do. I’m glad you put an exclamation point on this topic. Thank you for being an inspiration!

Hey everyone, I’m a neuroscience student trying to find out how one could make the lives of Entrepreneurs with anxiety and stress a lot easier
Which is why I have two very simple questions:
    1. As entrepreneurs who may live with anxiety (and/or stress), what are the 2 biggest issues you’re dealing with?
    2. Regarding your issues, what would you wish for more than anything else?
Thanks so much in advance - looking forward to reading your answers!

The 18 hour work day doesn't apply to peeps who don't want to build a 500,000 employee business. My advice to everyone is to find what works best for you at all times

Right. It's all about doing what's needed at the level you're at while also making moves to the next level you're moving toward.
