I don't think that is an in order timeline but rather a release date timeline with relevant canon games excluding the tail end of Smash Bros. which we know is not canon.
The changes are probably literal due to the pixel form being treated literal, the whole Culex joke in the Japanese version of SMRPG, and the implied Paper form.
Donkey Kong 94 is heavily implied to have been the original game but expanded upon.

Nah, that can’t be Donkey Kong jr jr.
DK in the country games is stated to be Cranky’s GRANDson, it’s consistent in all games mentioning their relationship. (Japanese dk64 included)
DK jr cannot DK as cranky’s complains wouldn’t make sense, due to jr already experienced having an “real” 8 bit gaming
The reason why jr is in Mario tennis is the same reason why baby Mario is in Mario tennis. (Basically time travel)
My theory on who odyssey DK is that random monkey who does nothing in the game&watch version Donkey Kong (game) named “mini Donkey Kong” all grown up. Granted it probably isn’t intentional by anyone but e fits.

Well a grown up DK Jr. has been seen before. That aside Nes Open Golf Tournament has an unnamed Kong that could be DK Jr. or a Kong we haven't met before that could fit the bill.
But also fakes like fake Bowsers exist in this world.
We also know DK III has taken the role of his grandfather for a musical before.
