  • 🎥In this video I discuss how I am structuring my portfolio to fit in with my investing goals. We talk about bonds, cash, dividend stocks, and dividends ETFs and how those generate cash flow that I am targeting. My end goal is to have this portfolio yielding a steady stream of consistent and reliable income as apposed to capital appreciation.

      Money doesn’t have to be stressful! I’m reading this eye opening book right now called “the emotions behind money” and it’s amazing. It’s everything I’ve needed in a therapist for years but haven’t gotten.

    12:30 wouldn't the bonds have even an overall lower yield as they are only compounded quarterly (while the saving account is compounded monthly)?

    • @SilentStocks
      @SilentStocks  4 місяці тому

      its more about the percentage than the frequency of the return since yields are calculated annually.

    When you say cash you just mean a savings account right

    how do you buy bonds? do you buy tlt?

    • @SilentStocks
      @SilentStocks  Рік тому

      i buy US treasury bonds on the US gov website TreasuryDirect. And I buy corporate bonds through my brokerage account with TD Ameritrade. I dont plan on ever buying bonds thru an ETF. That doesnt make sense to me.

    • @rackjim
      @rackjim Рік тому

      @@SilentStocks why so??

    • @SilentStocks
      @SilentStocks  Рік тому

      @@rackjim Treasury bonds are offer a higher yield than TLT without any of the added risk. TLT's price can fluctuate which contradicts the purpose of a bond in a portfolio. TLT in my opinion is purely for trading and not meant for long term holdings. Thats my thoughts in a nutshell!
