Great point about the toxicity in some games. The point of playing games is to have fun, if you end up feeling bad after playing, whether it's the people/community or some mechanics in a game, that's a sign it's time to take a break and move on to something else, at least for a while. We all have limited time to play, so I want to make sure I'm spending it on a game that I know I'll have fun the whole time I'm playing.

This is definitely one of the most useful videos I have found in a long time. I have struggled a lot with game addiction because of live service games. A way I have implemented this is with the game Overwatch.
Normally I would play on PC and in the past year, I've been stuck on a cycle of needlessly grinding battle passes I don't care about but feel compelled to finish. However, I decided that instead of doing that, I would play Overwatch on PS5 and get the Platinum trophy for it. Getting all the achievements requires me to play as all the characters so once I get the Platinum trophy, I can feel okay quitting.
For MMOs, instead of trying to do all the content in every patch, I tell myself "only be completionist with content related to story or side quests, don't worry about stuff like PvP or raiding that may be heavily time consuming". It allows me to still feel like I have completed something while limiting the scope so it does not consume all my time.

Thank you, this was very helpfull, because I just started with Warframe a few months ago and it already started to fill my backlog. I try to use as many tips as I can, because I also love Single Player Games very much and so I can find a better balance with this strategies. Keep it up.

Thank you for the advice. I have played 6k hrs on fallout 76, it was an absolute addiction for over 3 years. Barely touching any other game, so yeh a huge backlog that I want to tackle. I have recently taken a break and trying to let go of each seasons new rewards and content updates, it’s difficult but I’m getting better. New season started and haven’t even logged in yet, but I know I will do the season, however I’m making sure I stay focused on finishing ghost of tushima, which I’m in love with atm. When I’m done with that I can do the score board and then dip out and start a new single player game. I will remember your advice, the 80,20.

Thanks! 🥲 I put it in the end screen. This video is definitely off to a slow start, but that's how it goes sometimes.

The thing about mmos is that if I haven’t made friends in them I can drop them no problem but for some I have and I found that if I drop them to try and play other games I lose those friends as well unless we have another game or hobby in common
