    For the Sailor Cosmos bit, Sailor Moon decided that spending time with her family and friends was worth the endless war. Basically that she would power through the bad times, to have the good times. Destroying the galaxy cauldron would eventually but an end to everything. It would be peace, but not the peace she wanted.

    Lifelong Sailor Moon fan here. The idea for them to change hair and eye color when they transform was scrapped because they knew from basically the beginning of the SM manga that it would get an anime and that each character having multiple designs would become difficult to animate on a regular basis. The animation turnaround time in Japan is much tighter than it is here, often times with episodes back then being completed just days before broadcast. I know its not a great explanation but thats just how it is.
    With the in-universe explanation they do remark on a RARE occasion that they somehow do look different (possibly older or some kind of moon magic? IDK). I remember specifically in the dub that Sailor Venus (who met the group while they were all transformed and had to find them in civilian form later) that they all look "So different" as civilians. Take that as you will haha

      As for me if you look at sailor moon and usagi side by side i could argue the tiara's do shape their faces a bit, especially in the 90s anime where the tiaras are MASSIVE. not entirely to be a totaly different person visually imo but its almost similar to how glasses, hairstyles, and a bit of makeup can alter your appearance and vibe slightly.
      Also yeah they were make-up and it's implied to be heavier make up when transformed, so that could also play a role in their appearence.
      Almost every senshi also wa splanned to have a mask! Usagi had one in the early chapters but *always* tossed it off which was kinda redundant imo.

    1) In the manga the reincarnation works like this
    In the silver millenium case, all the Sailors were killed either by the war or by Saturn, so they went back to the caulderon and were reborn on Earth. In the end of the 5th act the caluderoun was filled with the Lambda so my guess is than it was able to revive them at their age of death since it was full of Sailor Moon healing powers.
    2)Sailor Cosmos is the Sailor Moon of a distant future much much more distant than Chibiusa's, she gise back in time to solve the Caos priblem at its routes, but after Sailor Moon sacrifices herself she understand than at not evrything is lost and than she needs to hold on to hope.
    3) The Sailor Crystals are the Sailor's soul's even if they can't use them they've always had them, just like Sailor Moon used her powers even if she didn't unlocked her silver Crystal the sailor can do it too. When they use the power of their own Crystal they are however much stronger.

    I think the reicarnation is more understandable in the manga rather than the 90's anime. In arc 3 its hinted that it was due to Sailor Saturn as the Guardian of Destruction and Reicarnation that all the Sailor Senshis as well as Prince Endimion and his guardians could reborn in earth after Metalia destroyed the Silver Millenium (probably sending all their stat seeds to the Calduron of life), being the exception Sailor Pluto as she needed to keep protecting the Space-Time door until she died in the future in Arc 2 and her soul was sent back in time by Neo Queen Serenity (who also probably sent her star seed to the Calduron of the past), but in Arc 5 the Sailor senshi of the Solar System aren't reborn per se, they are resurrected by Usagi's power, which we saw she could do as Neo Queen Serenity both in Arcs 2 through 4 as she revived people killed by the Chaos encarnacions/spawns. In regards to the Sailor Crystals my guess is that they were always within the Senshis and they just manifested their powers through their pens/sticks until arc 3 (in the manga the sticks were erased at the end of arc 2, probably because Naoko also felt them redundant and the outers necer had sticks) and in Arc 4 they finally could manifest their Crystals thanks to their inner guardian selfs, althought in Mars case probably Phobos and Deimos kept it around to protect Rei but they were always around her in theory she always had her Sailor Crystal and in Venus case she manifested thanks to Artemis and not her inner self.

    Also, something that always bugged me - Chibiusa's like...entire "legacy" so to speak. For starters, why she had to be the next/second Sailor Moon when Earth still had no proper sailor guardian? she's the rightful heir of BOTH crystals, yet the Moon had priority for...main character privilege I guess. I would've liked if she was actually Sailor Earth and will always be salty about it. And even then, it turns out her pink crystal isn't either the Earth or the Moon but "her own" so...what is it?? did she just create her own planet that doesn't even exist yet? or is that just even more inconsistency all around.

    • @stephanos6128
      @stephanos6128 Рік тому

      its a confusing inconsistency at best but I take it as she is both sailor earth and sailor moon, especially cus her speech says she a future guardian of both. as for having her own crystal thats because sailor crystals and star seeds in general are peoples souls, she has to have her own to be alive. of course Naoko wasnt thinking about it when she made this up cus originally the ginzuisho was a family heirloom passed down by generation and Usagi can literally just take it out without losing her physical form at all, so in the older chapters logic, Chibiusa wouldve inherited the ginzuisho. ChibiUsa in geneal I think is meant to be seen as some sailor anomaly.
      Also there *is* technically a Sailor Earth, its Tuxedo Mask. He has the earth crystal he just identifies as a man so he cant be a sailor senshi with the sailor collar, but he CAN transform magically and has magic powers cus of his Crystal. Arc 3 and 4 shows he can transform on screen. so yeah he is by definition a ailor senshi and therefore sailor earth. Its even in his namesake like the other senshi.
      In some old fandom panel though i believe someone asked if Naru was Sailor Earth and Naoko responding with something like she'd be a decent pick. But Naoko also confirms Mamoru is Sailor Earth.
      though I noticed the "male" or masculine aligned sailor crystal holders do wear capes. the shintennou wear capes and theyre technically Mamoru's guardians to parallel Usagi' guardians, and they too have crystal like items representing their souls. Tuxedo Mask/Endymion wears capes, and when Haruka was presenting herself as more masculine in the early chapters of Arc 3, it was reflected in her senshi form with both a sailor collar *and* a cape. As she is both a man and a woman.

      @@stephanos6128 Chibiusa is definitely an anomaly because in the end she'd have the silver, golden, and pink crystals, and all 3 work as her star seed, while also her parent's somehow....? it's really confusing.
      As for Tuxedo Mask, I'm aware he's technically Sailor Earth, but he was never really acknowledged as such, and it's specially noticeable whenever they have to do the sailor combo attacks, or when they gather to power up their forms - yet Chibiusa is, since she's an "actual" sailor guardian.

Arc 4 he does a lot of senshi things, he uses his power to power everyone up just like everyone else.

    Arrite, finally watched it! Thanks, I much anticipated and appreciate it :D
    My additions:
    1. In the Anime, it makes no sense at all for the girls to get nail polish right at the beginning of the transformation. They wear gloves anyway lol.
    2. It makes no sense Luna's looking for Sailor Moon on earth. There was no Sailor Moon in the Silver Millenium, only Princess Serenity and the four Inner Senshi guarding her. At least she should have been suspicious of the presence of a fifth guardian. Also not drawing the connection that Sailor Moon is also the MOON princess makes me question if Luna was the right agent for this mission at all ^^'

    • @Linnzy
      @Linnzy Рік тому +4

      It was really Artemis that instructed Luna to find Sailor Moon, but I agree, there is no logical reason to search for Sailor Moon.
      It could be that the former Queen had been Sailor Moon at some point in her life, she had the original moonstick after all, maybe there had been stories even back then about the legendary fighter Sailor Moon....

      Chibiusa's time traveling is actually one of the most simplistic plot devices in the show, funny enough. Chibiusa's timeline and the timeline of the story we as viewers are following are entirely separate. Anything that Chibiusa does in the main timeline will not effect the outcome of her own timeline. The Usagi from Chibiusa's timeline never had to encounter another villain past Mistress 9, living a life of peace far sooner than the main Usagi. This is further supported by the fact that the inner guardians of Chibiusa's timeline are not in their eternal forms (not even in the Crystal series; years after the manga was finished), but in their star power forms.
      I believe Future Trunks in the Dragon Ball series has similar time travel rules, if you're familiar with that show. Both Chibiusa and Trunks can only save another timeline from suffering the same fate, they can't prevent what already happened in their own.

    Sailor Cosmos new future is that she can fight along side her friends. In her original timeline she ran away from the galaxy cauldron and allowed chaos to get even stronger, and she didn’t rescue her friends out. When Usagi jumps in, she creates a third option where she accepts that chaos can not be destroyed (because the balance must exist like queen Nehelenia said in the dream arc). Even though she didn’t destroy the cauldron like planned, Usagi gave her more hope and a chance to fight chaos alongside her friends.. because unfortunately there is no way to destroy chaos without everyone dying all together. To explain Chaos, Chaos is the source of evil in the world, and it took form of all the major villains of each arc. Since Chaos can not be destroyed, it just takes on stronger and stronger forms to fight Usagi with.

    @keyonnaford1854 Рік тому +12

    I really enjoyed the video but I couldn't help myself in sliding in to hopefully give some clarification on certain things :'D
    1) The process of reincarnation in the series is different than the resurrection we see in parts. In the Silver Millennium, Queen Serenity used the last of the Silver Crystal's power to give everyone a chance at a much more peaceful, kinder life in the far future. Alongside the cast we know and love, this of course included Beryl who by chance stumbled upon the Dark Kingdom and Metallia and upon reawakening her memories decided to ensnare the Four Generals before they were allowed a chance to remember. Like you said, they're all completely different people from their prior lives and simply share the same soul and memories once awakened. Hotaru is an interesting case of reincarnation wherein it's made clear in the manga that Hotaru was reborn almost immediately after sacrificing herself against Pharaoh 90 because Saturn still has a purpose to some day reawaken again, but she'll be fighting alongside her fellow guardians. She herself reassured Sailor Moon in her final moments that in destruction, there is always the hope of rebirth. The anime was waaaaaay more vague, and if not for her return in Stars I think most people would've just assumed she lived the rest of her new life with her father. As for S1 in classic, it was less that they were reincarnated so much that Princess Serenity used the last of the Silver Crystal to bring the girls back to how they were before. They had died, but she was able to grant them back their lives without the wish of waiting for a peaceful time for them to come back because they were already living in one. It's the same for the end of Stars too wherein Usagi helping Galaxia release the stolen Star Seeds back to where they belong resurrected everyone without issue because it was just their physical bodies that were gone, their souls were still alive in the form of the crystals.
    2) While it's been brought up that Sailor Cosmos is a version of Sailor Moon from the far future long after everything else has perished, the real question is which future that could be. I know a lot of people have made the assumption that it must clearly be our Usagi's future, but given that Chibiusa's time traveling has altered things it isn't much of a stretch to say that Cosmos might just be one of many possible futures for Usagi, separate from taking on the mantle as Neo Queen Serenity. As for the startling appearance of Guardian Cosmos at the end, Usagi's decision to continue living life as they have up to this point and the immediate segue to her and Mamoru waking up in bed together feels like it really isn't too long after the final battle with Galaxia and Chaos. Since Mamoru was seemingly about to propose to Usagi right before Galaxia killed him before her eyes, I always see this aftermath as a proper continuation from that evening out together before he was set to leave for Harvard. Mamo got to ask Usagi to marry him, we skip off to the ceremony and the mention of Chibiusa not too far off from being born!
    3) We have to take into account that the manga was being written at a weekly basis, so there's a good chance that Naoko didn't establish the concept of Star Seeds and Sailor Crystals until the Dream Arc neared it's end. The crystals bestowed to the Inner and Outer Senshi then referenced their latest power ups as opposed being the True Star Seeds that represented their souls as Sailor Guardians. Those heart shaped crystals were serving as their new transformation items since after Black Moon, the manga dropped any usage of new pens to transform with. Only Usagi kept getting new compacts and by Stars Arc, she's using the Holy Grail to transform in the manga. The Outers most likely had 'Planet Power' upon their introduction like the Inners for the sake of consistency in the narrative, but of course the Outers had the advantage of their Talismans. The classic anime deciding to keep Star Power for the third season was an odd choice but one they probably went with since NQS didn't bless the Inners with any upgrades at the end of R, and as for Crystal S3? Since there were no new transformation pens for the upgrade, they probably kept them around for the sequences as they did exist in the manga already while the Outers went without since their Lip Liners were a classic anime construct.
    4) Metallia, Death Phantom, Pharaoh 90 and Nehellenia are all offspring of Chaos, who were drawn to the brilliant light of the Silver Crystal just as their sire was to the brilliance of the Galaxy Cauldron. Like how the Galaxy Cauldron birthed the stars of the known galaxy and beyond, Chaos is an entity that did the same through the horror, destruction and death that followed it. Nehellenia's exchange with Queen Serenity sheds a bit of light on those origins and how light can never be without darkness. It's why Cosmos was so determined to have Usagi destroy the Galaxy Cauldron even before Chaos merged with it, because without the continued birth of stars... everything in existence will eventually come to an end. Usagi choosing to temporarily halt the inevitable war against a reborn Sailor Chaos in the far distant future was done on the decision that her loved ones, and the galaxy itself, deserved to keep going. She would power through the loss and pain and everything she'd been put through up this point for the sake of seeing everyone again, and that was the mindset Cosmos knew she had lacked and why she referred to Usagi as the 'true' Sailor Cosmos in those moments after she plunged herself into the Cauldron. She did what Cosmos had not been able to do, keep hope despite the odds.
    5) Naoko herself actually brought up that the original concepts were scrapped due to the lack of uniform cohesion, as Toei and Nakayoshi were pushing for a look that would clearly signal a team in the similar vein of sentai rangers. There were a lot of physical changes (and complete overhauls beyond looks) done not only to their girls' uniforms but Usagi's hair color in the earliest designs before the manga launched, as she was apparently set to have pink hair/red eyes but Naoko was asked to change it to blonde hair/blue eyes. There's no in-canon reason as for why no one can recognize the girls when they're transformed, but we have gotten glimpses in both the manga and anime of certain characters managing to figure things out with the right cues. Most fans theorize it has to do with the magic of the transformations themselves, creating a sort of cloaking device that blinds civilians and enemies from the truth unless they have something that could figure out one's identity as we have seen in the classic anime (i.e. Eudial uncovering Haruka and Michiru's identities, Aluminum Siren figuring out Usagi's).
    6) If not planets themselves, we can at the very least assume that the Starlights are named after some sort of planetary body or satellite surrounding Kinmoku of the same names. With this being the same arc that introduced planets named Chuu, Mermaid, Coronis, Mau and Cocoon... I think anything's possible in terms of naming conventions for the Sailor Moon universe. Especially when we take into account that Galaxia's title was established to be for the most powerful in the Milky Way Galaxy in the anime only. In the manga, she was born on a planet she considered trash enough to blow up upon awakening. An interesting thing to note though, is that Kinmokusei is an elaborate pun (since in Japanese, 'sei' is the ending character for all planets sans Earth) on the plant of the same name meaning 'sweet osmanthus' and with the known parallels between Usagi and Kakyuu as viewed through Seiya's eyes in both iterations of the story, there are theories that Naoko chose the pun because of a Rabbit on the Moon origin story that involved an osmanthus tree and the Starlights themselves might be in relation to the trinity gods of Hinduism. As for Kakyuu's actual name and why it might be the chosen title for her senshi form as opposed to Kinmoku, she follows the trend of the Starlight's civilian names in being references to different aspects of light and/or stars in the night sky, with hers referencing shooting stars, comets, or fireballs!

    Love your channel and love this video! I agree with you on the disguises part, because it always confused me how Usagi's friend Naru could never figure out that her own best friend is Sailor Moon. However, there is an interesting fan theory I read that theorizes the gems in the Senshi's tiaras have some sort of magic that keeps their identities hidden. This idea still leaves questions and is in no way canon, but it's a fun way to sweep that confusion under the rug.

    A lot of your issues with their looks being similar or simplified comes down to production time. Naoko drew a lot of Sailor Moon herself with the exception of a couple of helpers here and there. She was encouraged to simplify their designs to make it easier for her to draw them faster, and for the animation team to draw the anime characters faster without missing key details.
    When it comes to the compacts, accessories, and transformation items that DID make it into the show the key is money. They were changed up and diversified to make toys. The Outer Senshi Lip Rods were literally designed like that to sell the toys and have the fun gimmick of being lip chap. The transformations include nail polish to sell toys and kits. Though back in the day, Sailor Moon didn't get as much actual makeup. Today though, there's a full line of makeup using the transformation brooches and wands as inspiration.
    The Stars brooches etc are different because they aren't from the Milky Way.
    The thing about Sailor Moon is that the manga and the anime were often created nearly side by side. The anime was held up often because Naoko was creating the manga pages at the same time. That's why there's so much filler and random stuff like the Doom Tree arc and the dinosaur episode. Point is, Naoko was in a rush, so as amazingly well researched as the easter eggs in Sailor Moon are, I don't think she thought some of the stuff like reincarnation rules through as thoroughly as we would expect it to be done today. Though, I think Saturn came back as a baby because of who she is. The other Senshi were clearly needed in that specific time. Saturn is a last resort weapon. She's never supposed to be awoken unless necessary. She's considered dangerous and deadly. She was also heavily experimented on in the manga, and that might have been a better option than explaining why she was reincarnated with or without her cyborg components. With makes sense. Without seems harmless, but given Naoko's feminist touch on the franchise she might have considered whether that might have looked like ablism (at least in modern terms).
    Never look too deeply into Cosmos. Life time fans have been trying to figure that shit out for decades. If we don't have answers, you won't find answers. We're desperately hoping Sailor Moon Cosmos will explain what the manga didn't, what the anime avoided, and what fans have been asking since the series ended.

    Metalia, Death Phantom and Pharaoh 90 and Nehelenia are born of Chaos- Chaos created them all - they are Chaos’s spawns but they are not Chaos- they are just born from Chaos evil energy, Chaos is force of all evil, Guardian Cosmos probably created Queen Serenity to protect Moon and Silver Crystal while Chaos created Nehelenia to steal Silver Crystal and kill Queen Serenity- thats my theory that Queen Serenity and Nehelenia were created in Galaxy Cauldron each with purpose- as Nehelenia said light attracts darkness and darkness attracts light- and since Silver Crystal is most powerful beside Cosmos Crystal Chaos wants the power thats why he created these spawns like Nehelenia and Metalia to steal Silver Crystal.

    In regards to the transformation I think the idea for the inners to use fancy items to transform was actually dropped in like dream and stars arc.. they no longer needed them as they simply ether just had their hand in the air or used the sailor crystal to transform. It may be a stretch, yes, but I grew up with 80s He-Man where almost nobody knew that Adam and He-Man were one in the same (at least 80s She-Ra's hair changed length).

    My main question that wasn't mentioned in the video is how the Moon Kingdom even functions?????
    Like, at the beginning it's presented as a kingdom exclusively on the moon that exists as a parallel to the Earth and the guardians merely drew power from the planets and were presumably also from the moon. But in the Infinity arc, with the introduction of the Outer Guardians, the Moon Kingdom now includes all of the other planets in the solar system (even including some of the asteroids as shown in the Dream arc) and the guardians are not only from those planets but are also princesses and have their own crystals??? What makes the Silver Crystal special and why do the princesses have to devote their lives to protecting Serenity on the Moon? How come Serenity isn't a guardian herself? With that, how come Earth isn't considered part of the kingdom (or at this point, empire) and what is the purpose of Helios and the Shitennou? Why does the Earth harbor xenophobia towards the Moon if it's literally the only celestial object that isn't under the Moon's rule? If it is part of the Moon Empire then why is Endymion forbidden from seeing Serenity rather than serving as one of her guardians like the other princesses are? Why is the Silver Crystal so important if the Earth also has the Golden Crystal, which is said to be equal in power? If that's the case, why isn't the solar system divided between the Earth and the Moon? There are just so many inconsistencies and my brain hurts trying to think about it.

    For the Sailor Crystal's section it would have been better if the cauldron (or however you spell it) had basically divided into how many main planets there are. That, or it's original size was into 8 of that same size, since there's 8 (well 9 because earth was slightly in there). And then each Senshi (I can't remember if the crystal they get is invincible, so if needed to either the crystal comes back or it's undestroyable) is brought from the cauldron, so definitely not human. And whenever one dies, another is reborn, but (this is more of me putting some stuff i would like) still has the memories of each past Senshi, or at last the last Senshi to live. Now I'm gonna copy this for ideas/inspiration.

    The whole them being "reincarnated" at those moments is more like they're revived rather than actually reborn. It's more like Usagi called their souls back to their bodies and just let the crystal heal them to life basically. xD I hope that makes sense.
    Note for the manga's ending, at this point wait until the Cosmos Arc movies or whatever comes out next year, maybe it'll be clearer in animated form.
    All I really know is that Sailor Cosmos is supposed to be a mystery even to Naoko herself or something, either way I just hope her colors are correct. Silver eyes and silver sailor collar stripes, for the eyes blue/purple is fine too but they really are silver. Seeing her animated is my sole reason for wanting to see this end. Yup
    The hair/eye color a bit.... Originally Naoko wanted Sailor Moon with silver while transformed but her editor said blonde (yellow) was more flashy. Although thinking on it Toei could have at least just done the hair and eyes as different colors between forms but eh, it's different from like Tokyo Mew Mew or most of the Pretty Cure series lol, but that said it's probably why Moon as Serenity has silver hair in the manga etc. at least she got to use on a 'version' or so of moon pre say. =}
    As for the transformation items....
    Reality: Naoko likely just went with whatever came to mind at the time, dod stuff along the way.
    In context the story itself though....
    Moon's crystal is likely changing as she does, as for the other girls it's a bit different between the manga and anime, but the focus in general is largely moon's crystal.
    The Starlights are from a different star system so their items etc likely function differently from those of the Solar system or something.
    That said the only other sailor to use a brooch beyond Moon and Mini Moon is Sailor Galaxia herself. Yeah.
    Still hope this all makes sense. XD

    Good questions, but I can think of some other more important. If the silver crystal was that powerful in the first two seasons to destroy the big bads, why wasn't it used against the ones of S and SuperS? Sailor Moon's power to kill and to heal enemies changes in every season (90's anime) and it's not always clear why she uses an item in one situation and other in different ones. In R, the cutie moon rod was used to heal the Doom Tree, but then for the sisters she used the silver cristal. Why?Why didn't she use the cristal to heal the Amazoness Quartet and Nehelenia? In SuperS, can Sailor Moon and Chibiusa use the meditation without Pegasus? Why didn´t Chibiusa tell Usagi and the others about said horse from the beginning? I could have bought the distrust in R, but not in SuperS.

    I agree, I agree... There's much (MUCH) about Sailor Moon that doesn't makes any sense. At all. (I still love it to bits. Don't get me wrong, everybody)
    The final chapter of the Manga is still a mystery to me. The whole... thing. I just don't get it. Including Serenitys origin. Where did her Mom take her from? Who`s her Dad? IS there a Dad?! It's just... confusing.
    I decided to try not to think about it too hard, for I really can't untagle it.

    In many East Asian religions, the concept of reincarnations aint about soul and people. Itz about people and memory. Dead souls will travel to the underworld, drink or eat whatever that erases your past memory and be reincarnated to the life depending on your past karma. With this understanding, everyone in the present Sailor Moon universe is also everyone in their past, just without the memory. The body of Hotaru will always be Sailor Saturn, the body of Usagi will always be Sailor Moon/Princess Serenity. Their identities might vary tho
    Discussing two deaths in the anime, if i remember correctly, when the silver crystal is used, it will cost the life of the user, but grant them a wish. Usagi before dying wish they could return to the happier time, living a normal life. Thatz why they came back as their grown-up pre-senshi versions, without having to go through reincarnations again
    The second deaths in Stars arch, technically Starseeds r the essence of a sailor senshi. Unless destroyed, their owners will never technically die. So yes, the senshis didnot die at all, they just lost their bodies as the carrier of the seeds. This is proven when Galaxia sliced the silver crystal and Usagi did really die there. When being freed, their bodies will return as normal.

    I love Sailor Moon a lot. But like most magical/mythical shows, there's bound to be some confusion. Like Chibiusa/Rini. Usagi/Serena had blonde hair (originally going to be silver, then pink, but that's beside the point.) And Mamoru/Darrien had black hair. How does that create pink hair and red eyes? I would understand giving her silver, or maybe purple hair since Neo Queen Serenity and Endymion have silver/purple hair. But I don't understand why Naoko chose pink..

      Usagi was originally going to have pink hair, so Naoko gave the pink hair to Chibiusa(Rini)

      She’s like ultimate sailor moon, the most powerful + oldest version of her in an alternate universe where crystal Tokyo disappeared? From what I got from the manga anyway

      @@rinxmacaroni2085 no shes a reincarnation of Usagi Tsukino, just like how Usagi is a reincarnation of Serenity. Cosmos or Usagi X as I like to call her is from a future far beyind the 30th century, though if we go with the idea that Chibi Chibi was how she looked when she was younger, her pink hair implies she is a biological descendant of ChibiUsa.
      The best way to explain Usagi X is like our present day Usagi going back in time to save Princess Serenity. Sailor Cosmos IS NOT Usagi/NQ Serenity or ChibiUsa. She's her own person, just a reincarnation of Usagi (and I guess NQS since NQS is just Usagi older)
      The only real mystery is we don't know *who* she was as a person or how she became Sailor Cosmos or what her fate is when she returns to her future.

    I guess the American translation is responsible for his confusion.
