I've got to say as a kid Bratz made a lot of sense to me, though them reusing character models did get confusing at times. Bratz Kids sleepover on the other hand was just terrifying and I only watched it once as a kid, after that I wanted nothing to do with the movie. 😂
Yep especially the megan character? I forget her name? The eposide when the boy dressed up as a girl to know what the girl likes abt a boy. And that eposide when burdin maxwel niece came like the model is just a reuse im sad
ABOUT LINA! In the latino dub, while Brienna is explaining how pixies work, she affirms that fairies "get their wings and magic powers when they turn 18, and THEY DONT GROW UP UNLESS THEY DO GOOD". That means that when Lina got her wings and powers she was at least 18, but since she started being evil instead, she got frozen in age!
I always believed Lina kept up the young appearance in a way similar to mother gothel (aka magic youth), and/or that she was the younger sister to Dee. As for her teenaged form around the dark pixies, I always figured it was a way for her to gain their trust.
About Lina, I always assumed that magic powers kept her young looking. And maybe she just didn't drop the look arund the other pixies because she just liked looking like that or personally prefered that look idk. Or it was a way to stand out and/or use her appearance to control them some way? A lot of character's have magic youthfulness or powers to manipulate their physical maturity like Ursala, mother gothel, Nezuko, Daki, and others. I watched it a long time ago as a very small child, I loved Bratz so much.
something that doesn't make sense is sheridan in bratz diamondz. when she met them in the corn field she asked them who they are. even though she dropped a makeup kit with their faces on it, then said she knew who they were because she was watching the show. i was so confused when i noticed this
one thing that confuse me is that they made them FASHION girls who having shopping as their #1 hobby yet they wear the same 2-4 outfits? not to mention that they would rewear the outfits from other movies, like there are couple of scenes in the tv show where they wear their london outfits whiles in stylesville. they really should’ve expanded the budget on the outfit design, totally spies is a great example - fashion girls (especially clover) and they would be constantly shopping too, but they actually have like at least 5 outfit changes per episode
I've never seen anyone mention this but...am I the only one who thinks that Jade lacks character in the TV series/movies? Cloe: dramatic, empath, athletic, actress, does makeup, has an advice column, has Cameron as a romantic interest, school president Yasmin: calm, kind, writes poetry, sings, does yoga, loves animals, cares about nature, knows karate, school prom queen Sasha: leader, organizer, confident, competitive, music lover, DJ, dancer, drives a car, has good social connections Jade: fashionista, worked for Burdine, has a cat? I mean, they all have a passion for fashion? We don't see Jade's talent, such as fashion design, shine other than in Bratz Paris. In my opinion, they should've done more with her character.
she definitely deserved more. idk why but i just remember her being a crybaby all the time and i feel like that’s not her. she is and always will be the edgy risk taker for me, and that was never portrayed in the tv series. she had more character in the 2015 webisodes 💀 which i lowkey love that series 😅
The thing I'm just realizing about the Bratz movies art style is that it is HIDEOUS. Like, if you take the nostalgia goggles off, it's kinda nightmare fuel. Like, compare it to the Barbie movies coming out during the same time (12 Dancing Princesses, Island Princess, Diamond Castle) sure, those weren't the most high budget, but they're at least still watchable by today's standards. I kinda wish MGA just threw just a little bit more money at the movies, to at least get them up to the same level of quality as the Monster High movies.
I always assumed that although the core four Bratz , yasmin cloe sasha and Jade are known as best friends just like any friend group there’s going to be sub groups. It also almost makes sense sales wise with how the dolls were released as cloe and yasmin were literally in every line, while 9/10 if there was a Jade in the line you could count there would be a sasha and vise Versa , if they replaced any of the core four Bratz it tended to always be Jade AND sasha not jade OR sasha. It’s sad but truly the dynamic being built this way in the show while probably just a coincidence does make a lot of sense
Bratzlinepodcast has an episode interviewing Mucci Fassett who lead all of the Bratz projects up to Desert Jewelz. When it came to Jade and Cloe’s RA fits, he said that they developed so much of the film that by the time they noticed it was too late to switch it. I feel like everything boils down to his timeline that he had along with directing the entirety of the tv show series. He was in charge of so much from auditions, recording audio, overseeing animation, etc. along with having a very small team he couldn’t really keep the ducks in line at all times.
Not sure if it's in the original version but in the spanish dub there's a part of fashion pixiez it's confirmed that when a fairy is evil they don't grow up and that's why Lina looks like that
NO FR BC EVERYONE SAYS ROCK ANGELZ IS THE BEST MOVIE AND ITS NOOTT Real OGs know it's Fashion Pixiez! The plot is SO much better and the music is BOMB! the dolls may not have been the best but IDC. Only Fashion Pixiez can make jeans under a skirt look good!
I feel the same way. I like Rock Angels, but the pacing is not great, with the band not even being formed or the girls playing music or meeting Roxxi until the very end. I feel like it should've been divided into two movies, like one where the girls create their own magazine, and another where they go to London, interview the music guy, and create the band with Roxxi, and we can actually see them learn to play, play So Good, actually see their world tour instead of us just hearing the characters just tell the audience, etc. That would've worked a lot better, in my opinion. That's why Fashion Pixies wins first place, in my opinion.
omg, you unlocked a freaking memory with the Bratz turning into monsters. I was scared so shitless that I didn't even know what I was scared of until you mentioned it, it was very traumatizing for my age
Also when the Bratz were at Camp Starshine they had a scene where they were playing their songs as a band and all the campers were jamming out to their music, but then in like the very next scene one of the Bratz says “We’re total outcasts here! Nobody likes us!”
Adam Moberly 1 second ago I don’t think Sasha and Jade were unpopular as to Cole and Yasmin, but yet they weren’t widely available. Not saying everywhere, but I do know many chains, especially Walmart and other stores like that will only buy whiter dolls over dolls of color (not as much nowadays). Barbie had the Rock Climber Made To Move dolls and the black doll was like pretty much nonexistent anywhere, where as blonde Barbie was overstocked and that was in the last 4-5 years, post Fashionistas Reboot. I also think the animators might have had or were made by people who give the final go of these movies racial bias. Being Sasha and Jade are black and Asian respectfully, it could be a issue where Cole and Yasmin, who are more white, though I do know Yasmin is at least Latinx and/or Middle Eastern, but both races can be seen more white, since there are white Latinx people and in the USA, do to trying to survive as a POC, Middle Eastern people have been since as white from their ancestors trying to claim they are white, which isn’t wrong, especially with Syrian, Israeli, Lebanese, and other regions are considered to be white in the USA and Yasmin is paler in the movies and shows. But it could just be time crunches on kids media and having a bible for the characters to tell who of who splits up with each other. We’d have to ask the animators.
Nah it wasn’t that Yasmin wasn’t seen as “white”. She was a brown Latina and just the token POC. Simple as that. Unfortunately, when it comes to who the stores want to purchase for sale, Sasha was the one they didn’t want. Hence why in promotion, it’s focused more on Yasmin, jade and cloe. Then they figured for better sales, it’ll be better to do Yasmin, cloe, and another white character (typically Meygan). Which sucks because they focused more on sales then what they believed in with inclusivity.
Well most Latino people in the USA are mestizo(aka mixed, indigenous and white), not white, and there are also plenty of Black, Asian, Arab and other race of Latinos so I don’t think that’s it. Most people think of Latinos as people of color. And Yasmin was mestiza.
It’s not impossible for teenage girls to run a magazine. Me and my 3 friends did it and we were the number one urban magazine in the state of Arkansas. We just lost passion for it.
Fun fact about character designs. In the superhero Bratz movie, there was a kid (not the baby) model of Yasmin meanwhile she's shown as a baby in this movie. That happened around the time, the granny went to the park for the first time with the girls and when one of the potato mutants tried stealing the control swich. As a child, i always belived, the Bratz found some kind of a time machine and helped the baby superheros save the day behind the screen. 😆😆😆
what confused me is that in Bratz Kidz Sleepover Adventure , in a montage scene the girls are seen reading Bratz Magazine ... like- how are they reading a magazine that wouldn't be created until they're teenagers ?? what in the name of time travel is that ??
No, not the fucking sleepover movie, probably the worst one, it's very "interesting", but traumatic. It fooled me so badly, I saw it beign advertised somewhere and thought it would be "girly" and "cute" with a plot that was innocent and not primarily based on horrific events. I was terrified, genuinely traumatised, thinking back on my expectations of the movie before watching it is strange and I feel bad for younger me.
To be fair, would any blame you if this was just five seconds long of you looking right into the camera and saying “The feet”? It’s probably petty, but it’s still one of the biggest gripes of my childhood.
The “let’s split up” trope is always my least favorite trope, both in lighthearted girl cartoons and in horror movies. Lolirock also does this a lot which gets annoying.
I think bratz rock angelz wasn't the best movie I feel like it was bratz babyz. I think because they actually look like the art work that came with the dolls and had the right skin tones, and the songs where bangers. But hey I'm from 08 so and only seen reruns and dvd movies with the old bratz dolls my grandma had. (She still got the dolls and the two carrier case.)
I have a MGA issue. Why is every black doll main character, including Project MC², who have actresses the dolls are based off of, have brighter color eyes. Like I can forgive maybe Sasha, since she was made at a time when most black dolls weren’t in the main group and Rainbow High, since those dolls can have purple and pink and nonrealistic eye colors, but Project MC²‘s Bryden had ice blue eyes and her real life counterpart didn’t nor even had contacts. I get they had actresses with brown eyes and not many with brighter eye colors, but I do think they could have hired another actress with brighter eyes to round off the cast. But most their main line dolls who are black and even Jade, have brighter color eyes. I just feel that isn’t fair to black kids who don’t have that eye color. I mean if you can make a six doll starting character launch for your line, I think a black doll with darker eyes isn’t out of the question. I’m not surprised there are black owned doll brands bringing out different shades, hair textures, and other specific things with their black character centered lines.
I think it might be for pops of color, for the sake of design. Like how snow white has a red bow in her hair. Or Like how east asian characters in media tend to have colorful hair, which can be negative too. A way around the eye color issue might be an amber yellow, or a dark purple maybe? Maybe eyeshadow? Idk
@@aroollie not that i disagree with your point, but i think it’s for the sake of contrast. the dolls who have white skin have darker eyes for contrast, and the dolls who have darker skin have lighter eyes for the same reason. ofc they should change it up but that’s the only reason i can think of character-design wise
I think it’s just more so that if you look at how many releases they have for each character. I’m pretty certain that Yasmin is the most popular character as I saw a news interview where they interviewed a bunch of different girls and they all said Yasmin
