Thanks for the info, I would wear goggles when using a Grinder! a piece of metal in your eye is no fun - did you put primer on the van as well? Other installs I have seen prime the van and not the window? Everyone seems to do it differently!
To be fair you are 100% right ALWAYS wear your ppe! No the primer goes in the glass not the van, these are these are the instructions as per the manufacturer guidelines.
Sorry but I think you have the primer application about face, the primer is to give you a key to bond the window to the van, ie a matt surface instead of a highly glossed waxed paint and that's why you have a wipe to remove any polish before it's primed, it also hides any bright usually white paint that may be seen through the privacy glass under bright light, the other wipe is to clean the already primed matt painted surface, why paint it matt again, the sealant/adhesive is the applied to the already primed window .
These are the exact rules direct from the manufacturer of the window bonding kit. I’ll follow what the guys that make it say rather than some guy in my comment thread. 👍
Hi,thanks for the video,i'm just ready to order some windows from vanpimps, what size u channel would you use for a 2021 transit custom please 6mm/10mm/14mm ?thanks.
@@davebron4888 it’s a tough one I can’t remember how the window seals sit but I always prefer to use the smallest one I can as it seems to allow the window to sit more flush and tight with the van. Sometimes the 2 skins have a bugger gap between them, which means you need a larger trim though.
@@davebron4888 you need the wide one and if your doing them yourself make sure you scotchbrite pad the window and the van before you apply the the primer most important part of the job
Well explained Lee, I'd still make a balls of the job as I can't hold my hands steady
well done , what a brilliant clear and very helpful video, BRILLIANT, thank you.
Thank you for watching and I’m glad it came across well 🙏
Somebody get this man a stepdrill bit 😂
Very helpful thanks for sharing your knowledge

Great video mate, very clearly explained.
Mine didn't go in as easy as that 🤦😂
Thanks, hope it’s still stuck on now 😂
@Simply Campervan Conversions I got a small leak, probably reseal it by next winter
Nice van!!! they didn't fall off on the bridge on the way back 🙂
That’s good to hear 😂
Great job mate . What was the hp of your air compressor that you used ?
Did you have to prime the painted surface before applying the bond?
Absolutely no, the area needs to be clean use thinners, but primer is certainly not required.
very good
How is that different from a jigsaw?
The nibbler doesn’t leave bits of metal which can burn the paint
Actually, the nibbler leaves all sorts of bits of metal, they are just larger. It literally nibbles small circles out to make the cut.
Why do some put the primer on the van as well as the glass? Your way seems better seeing it stops the primer running down the paintwork
I’d always check the instructions with the kit you get as some say different than others.

I fear there's going to be a few windows dropping out !

You missed the most important part! You didnt prime the van panel before applying the adhesive.
Where's the P.P.E.?
Nobody has a Nibbler
You can hire them
I do. £10 for a nibbler attachment that goes on a drill. Worked fine for this exact purpose

@@simplycampervanconversions Hi,thanks for the quick reply,i did wonder about the larger trim creating a larger gap.
