Love seeing other people learn with dedication too. I grew up with my family speaking Spanish but they never spoke to me in Spanish. I finally made a goal of mine to study hard and get to C1 level in 5 years. Now I'm 5 years in, and have had some teachers on Lingoda believe that I grew up speaking Spanish because I have an accent. Some almost immediately will say "Are you from PR or Cuba?" That makes me proud going from nothing to making natives think I come from a Spanish speaking country. I still have ALOT of work to do though!

no thats not true. i am puertorican i came to USA when i was 8. i had lost some of the natural island accent even though i spoke good spanish. i dont have the american accent like my other younger and one of my older siblings. in my early 20 i stated talking to a dominican the marriend him. and in almost 2 month of been there when i got back i had lost the little PR accent i had and had the dominican accent. that was back in 03 and my dominican accent is more stronger. now yes u should be more confident in speaking so that u get better even if pronounce it wrong. whom ever your speaking to will correct u. also when im around argentinians or any other for accent i will catch it without realizing it.
There is not such a thing as puertorrican Spanish, they are regionalisms and they happen in any language. Saying puertorrican Spanish give the impression that spanish is very fragmented and that the Spanish culture is weak.
