My cat LOVES this brush. Like your ragdolls, she wants to chew on it a lot, but when she's not chewing on it, it makes a good topcoat brush. I'm not quite sure what kind of rubber they use, but whatever it is, cats seem to like using it as a chew toy.

Loved Charlie's pissy face when u tried to groom him. He's also got gorgeous harem pants. That's what I call the fur on the back legs...Phoebe had great harem pants until I got her clipped.
My ragdoll does not like being brushed at all. He does exactly what Trig does...bite the brush. Since I hate...hate...hate...cleaning brushes, I use the type that are easy to clean. I saw one at Petsmart that I'd love, but it's $50 and I can't see spending that on a brush, no matter how neat & fancy it is. The one I'm using now has metal bristles & you can push the base up through the bristles to remove the hair. It's supposed to get the loose undercoat as well, but I can't testify if it's true.
I bought the purple Kong brush. My short hair, Kitty Boy, loves it and actually wants to get brushed now. Mr. Reilley, my long hair/Maine Coon mix had the same reaction your kitties did and had no love for the Kong.
For a second I thought you stole me cat!

Commenting eight years later ... all my cats LOVE the Zoom Groom. My one bit of advice is to wet it under the faucet, and shake off the extra water. This cuts down on static, and makes the rubber "fingers" a bit more tacky, removing more fur. Just an FYI.

what help the most when you use zoom Groom is going backwards and then forwards then it pick up more hair that way :)
take him to the vet and get all of it taken care of. poor cat. you will have to vacuum and clean the heck out of your home to get rid of the fleas
Kong's best item is the "Kong Kickeroo" toy. My 2 girls each have one and they fight over the 3rd "Halloween themed" Kickeroo I got on special last Thanksgiving. Your cats coats are beautiful. Do you groom them yourself or do you have them groomed? Do you ever bathe them?
we've reviewed the kickaroo. wasn't a hit, but have heard from others that they like it. i don't groom my cats hardly at all - they hate being brushed and they do a nice job with their coats...and they are fed only wet food, so that helps too. i only bathe them if there is a diarrhea problem. when my old man was dying, i bathed him because he wasn't taking care of himself. there are videos of that on here - ua-cam.com/video/J3VOB5rUFV8/v-deo.html
hmmm...i don't think i would based on all the brushes i have reviewed. i have a book out - a ragdoll kitten care guide - it is for sale on amazon and it lists the brushes i like in there.

only because the brush took out that hair but didn't keep it on the brush....if trigg had that much hair sitting on top of him i would be repulsed!

This gets so much hair out of my hairy raggies. Makes all the fur fly everywhere from static and get electric shocks from their ears but this was the best five pounds i've ever bought. The just sit there and purr like made and flop all over the place. Chibi even dribbles he loves it so much, and he hates being brushed!!
i think the clavamox is usually fine - it's the pred i worry about. but more importantly, takoda needs to be off of dry food or this will happen again.
yes, i am sorry. the clavamox would be necessary i think but not the prednisone. i love clavamox - it did wonders for my rags. but pred is always a problem i think.
Couldn't find this for small dogs, only the large so bought this for my son's tiny full grown chihuahua. I have this already for my larger chihuahuas and works great. Best on the market!!!

No, sorry. All I do know for sure is that they had different sizes for small & large cats, as well as multiple sizes for dogs. Next time I go to Petsmart, I'll try & remember to make a note of the brand.
so i took him to the vet for an examination. the vet gave him two shots to calm his stomach and sent him home with a script that i get at my pharmacy. my pharmacist said that the clavamox can cause irritation and the prednisone together can cause his symptoms. im angry the vet had to have known this and mafe money off his visit.
I own a zoom groom. It does the trick with hair, but I use a circular motion all over and Hemi loves it. I've submitted his profile a while back, but he's a big sealpoint Ragdoll.

We tested the dog zoom groom with my cat, who turned 16 last week. My Aunt bought it for my dogs but we wanted to see if my cat likes it. My dogs did; one of them had the nerve to bite it.
My cat doesn't want to be brushed much; if we wanted to brush her, she could bite or scratch my Mum. However once we tired the zoom groom, she was purring away. It really made a huge difference and I'm glad I found the groom and this video. Thank you so much for suggesting this; you're a life saver. :)

I have a 3 legged short hair rescue who HATES being groomed (I've only used the wire brush previously). She needs help - especially in the Spring as she has no back left leg to help scratch away winter fur... I just bought the Zoom Groom, and she's laying calmly beside me, and I've been brushing her for the last 15 minutes, and she's in heaven. I'm going to have to do a big vacuum tonight, but it appeals to her sensory issues... And who's kidding whom. If she's happy, I'm happy. So it's a hit.
Now if only Zoom Groom could help me clip her nails...

Funny, because I have a similar brush (not cat shaped, but with the same "rubber spikes") and my little kitty reacted to it the same way Trigg did. First he was sniffing and biting it, but after a while, he really started to "trust" it and nowadays, he really enjoys being brushed with it!
Lol I just went out and bought this long zoomgroom silicone brush and my cats actually don't mind it.. I try to brush them with my write brush but they get crazy excited with it and swat at me lol they don't with this one though

I love this brush! I tried it on my own hair first. When I applied a bit of force it pulled on my hair and hurt me. But when I went really softly it felt really nice. So I try to do it just as softly to my cat. And he likes it!
cool. love that you tried it on yourself first - however, our hair is definitely different than their fur - so I am not sure if it would be entirely the same.

My ragdoll Norwegian mixes love this small wire dog brush I got and it works so good it would have picked up tons more hair than what you got in just seconds. I will find the name of it and post it here.

Daww so cute. My four boys have an agreement with me (less and agreement and more a demand haha). For every three or four brush strokes or comb swipes they allow me to do, they get to bite it for five bites lol! They also love to bite it :)

It looks like this at the head but mine has a rubber grip handle over wood. My cats love it! I don't press down too hard and you wouldn't believe the undercoat I get off them! It picks up the very fine hairs beautifully! P/S I love your rag doll and the tiger mix one too!
yes, i think we have product tested that - it's a slicker brush made by jw pet. thanks - they are both ragdolls - one is seal mitted and the "tiger" is called a "blue lynx mitted".

The Kong brush just irritated my cats without removing much loose hair, so I just use it to scrub my counters. (Bast forbid that I throw/give away anything.)

My cat used to love it. The first couple of times I used it, she was like, "Woah!! What is THAT", and kept turning around to check it out and sniff it and bite it. But after a couple of uses, this was her favourite grooming tool. She'd put up with it the longest.

he is eating again. he gets 3 ml of carafate and half a pepsid tab once a day. the car 2 times a day
so my ragdoll cat takoda had a urinary tract infection. the vet put him on prednisone and clavamox. he did ok with the meds, then began fighting me. he started throwing up the meds and had some bleeding coming up with the pill. he would not eat for a few days
I convinced my fiance to let us get a cat (preferably a rescued Ragdoll) when we can afford a pet in an apartment, I'm so excited! Cats in my neighborhood kinda flock to me X3 I love it
Emily had the same reaction to this that Charlie and Trigg had. She wanted to bite it every time I approached her with it. I really wanted her to like it, since I thought the purple color was so pretty and loved the idea of getting loose hair out so easily, but no luck. She still likes the JW Comb the best.
Trigg looks like my blue lynx Birman, but a heck of a lot bigger. I just found your videos today. Your commentary is a hoot! I am going to subscribe.
I got that for my ragdoll. It was easier with that then the normal cat brush. Love your videos!

Phini has a Zoom Groom (exact same purple), reacts to it 100% same way as your Trigg, wants to use it as a chew toy all the time (that's why I keep it in a drawer as you said as well), lets me brush his back for a limited amount of time but then he starts fleeing as usual when I attempt brushing.
I had really high hopes for this brush back when I bought it because it's so soft and for sure is not uncomfortable for cats' sensitive skin... I'm just kind of sad my Phineas hates brushing so much.

yes, they are super soft!! and fluffy. in fact, the vet tech asked me yesterday - do you brush charlie all day long? and i said no that he hates being brushed and she said, "he's so fluffy!"

Oh yes they've been around my other cat since we had them. My cat is 8 years old and was the first pet my husband and I had together. The oldest dog is 7, then 5, and the youngest is 3. They are definitely used to cats. :)

We just got a Shed Monster brush for our two long haired cats. My girlfriend and i first used it last night and it looked like we removed enough fur for another cat! and it was all dead fur. 8.00 at walmart and one of the best investments we made! Grooming used to be horrid they'd never let us do it and we'd have to use a scisors to cut out huge clumps that had accumulated under their hind legs. I've thought about the Furminator?? any idea how that is?? but from reviews i think we got the right one :) Thanks for the video!
nice $8 at walmart sounds like a good deal - we have reviewed the shedmonster and i agree with you that it's enough fur for another cat. the furminator is very similar - it too has razors that cut the hair. i am not a fan of the sheen that it removes from their coats - makes them look dull.
I LOVE the zoom groom for my domestic longhairs, it says circular motion but brush strokes were just as effective,

Hi - I didn't mean to imply that you are cruel - just that people who don't get treatment for animals that need it are cruel. I live in the UK so we may have different treatments for fleas. There is one called 'Frontline Spot On'. Any treatment from your local vet or reputable pet store is fine. Fleas are not hard to treat but the problem will get worse if untreated. Bathing him won't help much. I'm glad that you have taken this cat into your life. Good luck with getting him well.

Please read catinfo.org. It will help you understand how to transition him from dry food to wet food. believe me he needs to get off dry food or you will continue to have the UTI problems.
