The beef, with the mashed, corn, and spinach, was my idea of a perfect meal. Best $100 plus I could ever spend.
My dad worked there from 1969 - 1976 and I have found memories of this place. Now Lawry's is located east side of La Cienega Blvd. Back then it was on the West side.
I will never be able to think of Lawry’s again ever without thinking of, “you want to get loud with me while wearing that?!” Still the greatest moment ever on the internet.
ua-cam.com/video/okTeFV1S6Gc/v-deo.html
I loved your video! As a huge fan of Lawry's, you have done a beautiful tribute! I loved the music, too! It reminds me of dining at the Plaza in NYC!
His shirt aside, I would never trust a food critic who can't even use a fork and knife properly (2:04)!!!
Who gives a shit?
@@mingusmofaz5898 People with table manners. And this is not it. 2:22
I’ve eaten here twice...amazing everytime!
Brings back my good memories, the last time I was there in 1991. Still the best prime ribs in the whole world. !
An amazing restaurant with an exquisite ambiance delicately serving the best melt in your mouth cuts of Prime rib to a dude wearing a $4 Wal-Mart t-shirt. The piece of meat almost fell out of his mouth.
Lol... thinking the same thing! Still what a place and an okay video too. ❤👍
I was going to comment on the shirt as well. How would anyone think it's acceptable to wear a t shirt to do a video on a place like that.
House of Prime Rib is better in so many ways
@@sagarman000 Honestly, who gives a shit.
Thank you for this video. I'm lucky that they have locations in Japan so I'm definitely going to go to one sometime!
My last meal would absolutely be prime rib, no question. I only get to have it a couple times a year, always on Christmas at least. I've only ever went out to eat prime rib a few times, but most times I end up preferring the way I cook it myself. Prime rib is one of those things that in reality is really easy to cook, but also really easy to mess up at the same time.
Exact same that's our Christmas meal. Of course it's not really prime we usually get a select rib roast because they are on sale Christmas week
I ate at Lawry’s in Chicago in 2010. Prime rib is my favorite cut of meat and I was most impressed.
R.I.P. Lawry's Chicago 😢
I’ve eaten there about 14+ times it’s so good. I recommend the Prime Rib with creamed corn and mashed potatoes
Thats all they serve
How much?
Bro I'm a VIP member..not flexing just facts..Jim Brady cut everytime!
I worked at a prime rib restaurant in Salem, Oregon in 1976 and 1977. It was simply called the Prime Rib. There was a sister restaurant in Portland, Oregon.
The one in Salem had a great view of the Willamette River and also used the stainless steel cart. The meat and Au Jus was kept warm by charcoal. All requested sides were served from the kitchen.
When I started there, each rib roast was encased in rock salt and slow roasted all day at a low temperature. For whatever reason they changed the roasting method to no salt pack and higher temperatures. In my opinion the prime rib was never as good. We did make Yorkshire Pudding using rendered beef fat and the Au Jus was made from the pan drippings and juices. I ate a slice or two of prime rib every night and never got tired if it.
On Sundays they offered a four course "Farmer's Breakfast". It was way too much for most people to eat. Back then there were a lot fewer big eaters.
The courses were:
1. Fresh fruit with toast
2. Pancakes
3. Eggs, potatoes, along with bacon, ham, and sausage
4. Apple fritter
Such a great memory.
The Prime Rib was awesome... I still think that salad dressing was the best thing ever.
I live in lincoln city oregon about 50 miles west of salem but I'm sure you know that if you lived in salem
I ate there once . The food stinks.
Jim Brady for me thanks. My parents would treat us to dinner after every UCLA home football game, awesome...
where can i find prime rib like this here i can only have prime rib steak style i want buffet style with jus
It looks spectacular.
That REDness achieved at Lawry's is never duplicated by my family, always turns out grey with no juices and the outside crispy. And when I told them its because Lawry's sets it at 200 for 24 hours, my mom who payed 45+ for the cut at costco just say, i have to sleep now, 500 for 10 mins na lang. I hate how she gives up after already investing too much and is ok with the normal people way, this red yet cooked technique is why they pay benjamins to eat just once at a carving buffet line essentially.
No the slow roast method works. Most supermarket cuts are about 5-8lbs. Season the roast generously the night before. Bring out the roast in the morning. Start at 10am. Set the oven to broil and blast it for about 20 minutes until brown and then lower the oven temperature to 225 and let it sit for 45 min per pound....for example, a 6-pound roast will cook in 5 hours.
I go to the one in Las Vegas every time I'm there. Never disappoints. Go for lunch or an early dinner and the prices are a lot less.
Memories
Lovely
Is this the same one as in Chicago?
There is one in Vegas too. Not sure if the Chicago one is owned by the same people though.
I celebrated my 16th bday in the Chicago location with my family.... It was my favorite steak place!!! Unfortunately, they closed it down 😒
Could he at least pronounce the name of the restaurant correctly? It's LAWry's, not LARry's.
Amazing
3:04 - - I guess he really liked the meal. What a belch!
The like the fight on youtube at this place lol
This is like House of Prime Rib in San Fran. The style is same. Table side carving and salad making done there as well. Even cart is same
Stop ranking on the doods threads! He use to having his gruel thrown on the ground and slurped up. A collared shirt would have done little to hide the hooves.
I wish the Chicago location of Lawry’s hadn’t closed. I want to eat at Lawry’s…
I highly recommend a “Gene and Georgettis” if your in Chicago.
What is that sauce that they pour?
You gotta be more specific because there are several sauces in the video. Do you mean the salad dressing? If so, that's probably a mixture of some kind of balsamic vinaigrette. The stuff on the mashed potatoes is gravy and the white stuf fon the meat is probably horseradish.
@@Ermac97 thank you. I mean the black sauce that they pour over the meat.
Carlo Carino it’s called ajus
Au Jus - roast beef drippings to make a sauce. Au jus means "with juice" in French. Roast beef Au jus means roast beef with juice....but the juice is the sauce that they make with the drippings.
Goldbelly!!
Yea house of Prime Rib in SF serves the best Prime Rib dinner!
Just out of curiosity,do they serve prime rib that isn’t red or pink?
I have eaten there many times and can say that they do.
And don't forget their spaghetti seasoning, which my mom used to make back in the day.
They have the highest quality meat
I'll take your word for it
Does anyone know if they're better than House of Prime Rib in San Francisco?
I love the prime rib here ❤️🥂cheers
You can always tell they quality when you can mute the video and enjoy it more that with the sub-par commentary
A meal fit for a king
the prime rib and sides looks amazing, but your tables manners are abhorrent.
One of the very few restaurants where I will gladly fork over $100 without any hesitation
Prime rib room at riverside hotel in Laughlin.
Is that the voice of Leonardo DiCarpio? Sure sounds like it!
Just saw the menu. With those prices, I think I'll stick to watching you eat.
They are gone now?
No
omg...making me hungry
I understand on Father's day they have a floor show
And cock fights in the back for our natty Beau Brummell critique on Friday and Saturday night............
That guy couldn't dig up a collared shirt with a button?
I'm surprised they let him in 🙄
I didnt know that kim jeong un went to Lawry's for a three course meal
t shirt?
I’d rather have their creamed spinach than ice cream.
Lol this dude doesn't know how to use a knife and fork 🤣🤣
Europeans and other countries do it differently than here.
its york-sher
I ate at the Las Vegas branch with a friend...The prime rib is not good...Very tough med rare and no taste...Literally a waste of money, over $100 for 2...
Why cut with one hand and change hands to eat? I don't get it.
Amazingly Rare Steak. 😅
yorkshire pudding pronounced yorksheer
i died a little when i heard that YORK SHIRE
Thor Swenson why are you surprised he speaks English?
@Thor Swenson oh no, he eats at Lawry's for a video when the restaurant's not open to the public
He MUST NOT BE A REAL FOODIE
SF's House of Prime Rib is better.
Never ate here never will unless they build one outside of California. It does look delicious though.
Lawry's has been around for 82 years... Im pretty sure they are doing just fine without your business.
Did Lawry’s survive the pandemic with curbside 😂😂
Please cook more..
would it have killed the presenter to wear a shirt with a collar?
Lawrys franchise steak house’s are a top tier chain and serve the finest USDA dry aged prime beef, with certified culinary trained chefs. Ruth Chris is an expensive horrible steak house that serves wet aged USDA prime beef and they train their cooks in house. They are the most horrible and expensive steak house chain out that sales prime beef at dry aged prices. You will easily spend 100 dollars a plate at Ruth Chris. I’d pay that at lawry’s because they actually give a damn and are on par with top local owned mom and pop fine steak houses. They train you to their methods but you come in a trained chef already, unlike Ruth Chris garbage.
Thanks for the information. I have always wanted to try Ruth Chris, but will pass (now). I have eaten at Lawrys (California and Chicago) so will stick with them. Consistently excellent food and service.
Flemings serves wet aged beef too.
Ruth Chris is much more consistent than most chains.
People more concerned with the shirt/dress-code than the food are annoyances to the world.
Have you switched to Old Spice or do you still prefer Stetson......?
ps: You might want to wash your jeans sometime, and spot treat the area where your pit bull humps your leg.
That dude eating looks diabetic. Don’t eat the ice cream.lol
I would like to say that San Francisco's House of Prime Rib is a tad better in my opinion.
Are you being serious? I've heard mixed opinions; currently contemplating both at the moment.
@@norcalsawsquatch9854 Yes.
@@normandea thanks.... I've also heard about a mom's and pops spot in daly city with better prime rib I actually forgot the name. My Filipino co worker told me about it
@@norcalsawsquatch9854 Val's or Joe's of Westlake.
@@normandea yes i think it was Val's!
That looks like nice beef.
filipinas represent.
When wasp was pure wasp
They acknowledge this place as a traditional establishment with upscale accoutrements, but the guy shows up in a t-shirt. A place like this should be different than McDonald’s and appreciated for the complete dining experience including at the bare minimum...a shirt with a collar.
Its
RAW
Nice advert, but little else....
Expensive cut of meat and he holds a knife and fork like a 3 year old 🤬
I went today the prime rib is good but the Resturant is quite overrated
If only it was halal.
Food editor but apparently didn’t learn any table manners
It’s unfortunate that this video depicted a smug, but sloppy diner wearing a tee shirt at this fine restaurant and eating like a pig over his trough. It’s also unfortunate that Lawreys does not implement a classic dress code.
In paying for a fine meal, such as this, it is expected that all dress appropriately.
Why can’t you use your eating utensils properly ? The fork is in the left hand and the knife in the right. Why do you switch hands to use the fork to pick up the prime rib to your mouth. No table etiquette.
Stfu bitch.
jack smith you don’t belong in Larry’s dressed like a bum go to McDonald’s you peon
You look like my gardener. How many lawns did you have to mow to afford Larry’s. ? I bet your dad is the dishwasher in the back. Their rules for proper attire is smart casual. A Walmart black T-shirt is not smart casual. Oh wait, maybe at Taco Bell 😃
I agree, the way he shoved that large slice of pudding into his mouth. He had all the boorish mannerisms of a Yale man.
jack smith its called american style eating nigga
Boo dodgers.
THEY COPIES EVERY SINGLE THING I MEAN EVERYTHING FROM THE HOUSE OF PRIME RIB IN SAN FRANCISCO HAHAHA EVEN THE WAY THE SPIN THE SALAD WOOOOOW
Jimmy R lawrys opened like 11 years before
Jimmy R I believe house of prime rib copied them.
House of prime copies them lol. Everyone knows that.
Next time put on a collared shirt, at a minimum.
I'll never understand how people developed a liking for raw beef
If you've ever eaten medium rare steak you would know that it's not raw, the texture simply isn't the same as raw.
@@Ginger30161 that is definitely raw.
The cow is still mooing and bleeding.
It's fukn raw...
Am I the only damn person that likes their meat dry and leathery like it should be?
Yes. Good steak/Prime Rib is usually served Medium Rare or at most Medium. Any further & you are wasting it. When it's weel done you don't get the juice & tenderness of the steak. Might as well go to Sizzler as there is no difference at that level.
@@fanman71 "weel done" lol
That's exactly how I will order the next steak I'll be having. funny typo, mate.
No, i'm sure there are more weirdos like you out there.
I mean no offense, but you may be at risk of diabetes.
And why is that, asshat? Because he's slightly overweight?
The amount of blood present ---Dahmer meal.
