I just finished installing these on my 06 Mustang. If you aren't going to bother pulling the wire through the harness (as the video shows), you do NOT need to remove the whole door panel! Just remove the top trim screw closest to the door hinge to have enough trim flex to get the wire under the weatherproofing, and then follow the install back again at the point of splicing the turn signal wire. Be aware that for the passenger side the wire is red with a white runner, unlike the driver side which is white with a red runner!
I have ordered a number of items from AM for my wife's 05 Mustang V6 4.0L. I have been racking my brain to figure out how to get power to the signal mirrors. I didn't want to drill any holes into the body of the car to pass these wires. This video has cleared up everything for me. The mirrors are installed and wife loves them. Now all I have to do is route the wires according to this video and that part of the project is done. Thanks you.
If you want the lights to work with the turn signals it is the light blue/ orange strip wire for driver side, red wire with white strip for passenger also recommend using red splicers since the blue ones in the kit are to big for the wire provided
Thats not true. You can run wires through the wire harness on the door. I've done it myself. Its a tight fit but it is possible. There is nothing stopping the wire for going through. Sorry but what a lazy install. Having that exposed wire..It would bother the hell out of me.
I love American muscle but you should never run a wire Through a door jam It is not impossible to run a wire through that loom it’s just difficult I’ve done it before all you have to do is remove the connector run it on the outside of the connector and put it back
what I'm finding is the connection is bad at the main wiring harness with the splice connector and I'm not sure why? so I will guess? to small of gauge of the wire harness that came with it, as that's the first thing I noticed, along with it being very fragile material I had to swap the original gasket seal from mine to the new one because it was leaving too much of a gap on the outside and the original wire harness has a rubber grommet inside and the new one doesn't... other than that it's a reasonable product so have a little patience..
I recommend sending the wiring through the firewall and splicing it to the power wire of the front turn signal. As for ground, use any body ground or spice to any close ground if you really want to cut wires.
I have an instruction that says DARK PINK / WHITE STRIPE for the passenger side. But on the AM product review page it says something completely different: they say to find the white wire with red stripe on drivers side. There are two of them so good luck, I found the correct one on second try, in addition the connector didn’t cut through the outer coating of the wire, I remedied that with wire cutters. The passenger side is a whole different story, first there is no ground wire so I grounded it ti the frame with an eyehook, and there is no white wire with red stripe it’s a red wire with a white stripe and just like the drivers side there are two wires as well - good luck again.
I just followed this video and the lights do not come on. I've gone over this so many times to see if I missed something and the lights do not come on. You should have tested your finished installation so that we can see that your idea works.
I just had the same issue. The quick splice does go through the small gauge wire the mirrors come with. Just get some butt connectors and do a normal splice. Should work after that.
I just did it on my 06 and they turn on when I hit the brakes does anyone know the correct wires to splice in to for both sides so they won’t turn on when I hit the brakes?
I’ve just done this aswell…same outcome(they come on with the brake… , I’m gonna do a little more research , failing that, I’ll buy some wires and run them from the front indicators….. also think I blew a bulb somehow😢
Update , I’ve tapped the live into the front turn signals , routed it through the firewall (there’s a grommet that hood release cable goes through on the drivers side by undoing the wheel arch liner it’s easily accessible) I grounded it under the kick panel , all wired up and works well.
ok so I ended up running the wires to the front turn signals😵 it's ridiculous that I wasted hours chasing shorts and hitting the brakes and the lights come on the new mirrors, looking like a fool😠
Unfortunately you have to tap into your front turnsignals. Otherwise your mirror lights come on when you apply your brake. The mirrors are great value but the wiring is completely wrong this way.

Did u have a ground?? There are no solid black wires
Does the turn signal come on when you brake?
@@SupercarBuilt there should be a black wire in the harness, it may also be gray
@@drassylrs8185 no but double check your wires I think I got it wrong first time too, I had to use a multimeter to check I was using the right wire

The passenger side all look pink to me, estimate on what gauage it is?

Getting famous off comments day 182, so I can live the dream, live life like there’s no tomorrow🤙
An idea for a even more modern look, create one with switchback leds. From white marker lights to yellow when turn signals turn on
You would show how to install digital clocks for ford mustang aGT 2015-2017
Passenger side is red wire with white tracer. Your welcome.
can someone tell me the actual colored wires that im supposed to tap into? Driver and passenger? im struggling at the moment…
Did you ever figure it out? I got the passenger side but not the drivers side, tired of mutilating my wires

Anything like this for New Edges?

Wouldn’t splicing right there turn the mirror signal light on when you brake?
yes, turn on with the brake

This is what's happening to me the damn turn signal comes on when I brake🤬
What about the passenger side
What are the wire colors for passenger side?
I wanna know too

Wish they made these for the 99-04 Mustangs

This isnt the complete connection, on my car, this just leaves them turned on when lights are on lol.

Did someone figure out the wires for passenger side?😂
Dark pink wire, thin white line for passenger
you had till you have to splice wires, that is never a good thing to do. later
Proper splicing is fine just buy good connectors and a good tool. Professional auto sport wiring in race cars use only crimps splicing and crimping.
