  • In this video, I compare the Audient EVO 4 to the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 gen3.
    I compare them in a few different ways, from ergonomics to sound. I try to go over everything that I could think of so that you could get a real picture of the interfaces. Feel free to comment below or contact me via email/Instagram if you have any further questions.

    The Evo kills the Scarlett when it comes to sound quality. Those preamps and AKM converters make it a no brainer. Great review.

    One thing you left out re the EVO 4 Cleanmud. If you HOLD DOWN the MONITOR MIX Button ( on right from top, the first button ) then at same time twist the large knob left right you can control the PANNING also. From the manual:
    "This can be used to provide separation between two different instruments for better monitoring. But this feature is incredibly useful when recording a stereo source (such as two microphones on a piano, or a stereo synth) as it allows you to accurately monitor the signal in full stereo as you’d hear it in real life, allowing you to make better mic placement choices.
    Press and hold the Monitor Mix button to enter Monitor Pan mode, now turn the Knob to pan your inputs from the centre to the left and right channels. "

    The EVO sounds like the preamps are better. The vocals seem fuller than the 212, plus the beat sounds phatter on the EVO and that's probably due to the convertors. Good vid bro!

    So basically I’m using a 2i2 2nd gen which I’ve had for about 3 years, but recently it fell 3 or 4 times and stopped working because of my new headphones having such a short cord. Build quality is superb cuz this thing took about 3 falls before just giving out. I was thinking about getting a third gen but then I came across the evo and it just blew my mind how much better something could sound for cheaper. Looking more into I decided to get a shure sm7b to pair it with and I’m excited! Thank you for helping me decide man great video.

    I have owned both. As a beat maker I would say Evo is definitely better. The mid to low frequencies are warmer and more tasteful to me. But if you are recording live instruments; the highs are brighter on the Scarlett, and you may or may not prefer that.

    The rap comparison, in the end, did it for me. You can really hear the auto gain workin' on the vocals, it's almost your volume, and the distance from the mic is uniform, which takes away any distraction on the quality and allows me to focus more on your words and your message, where it actually matters most. However corny that sounds, that's what matters to me. Thank you for this feature. You saved me from buying a 2i2, I was just about to place an order online.
    Cheers!

    Really good overview, but it was really hard to hear because of the loudness/distraction of the “music” loop. You should have changed the balance to allow your voice to be louder. Or better yet, no loop.

    Scarlett looks better, but it's overpriced cos it has the advantage of word-of-mouth dominance. You're getting better specs for your money with the Audient. Your qualitative comparison is fine but it would be improved to have a comparison of the technical performance.
    How does the theoretical design of the A/D conversion compare?
    What is the compatibility with different computer operating systems?
    Then there's customer support by the manufacturers and are there any dedicated forums.
    Do any of the major DAW manufacturers prefer one interface to the other, if so why?
    Cheers

    Nice review! I just got the EVO 4 for my home office setup (professional video conferencing) and I really I like the audio quality (in combination with a shotgun mic) and the simplicity of the design. I believe it‘s a good move from Audient to also offer the more „classic“ iD series hat has more buttons and controls and is also more robust, so you can pick whatever suits you best.

What was not shown, and it does matter, is was the air button used or not on the focus? What the air button does is throw two shelves on the audio to brighten it but there was a guy on YT that did that (almost exactly the same) in a parametric software EQ.

      @CLEANMUDVIDEOS  3 роки тому +1

      Appreciate your honesty but I’ve been taking time to learn more. I’m definitely way better at mixing now. I’ve taken courses and have been doing a lot more. This video only has compression from UA-cam, not me. Life is about growth. Also, keep in mind that mostly all of my files are able to be downloaded so you can test your amazing skills with adding your own compression and what not to the different takes. That’s primarily why I do that because we all have different taste when it comes to mixing. Hope this helps! Thanks again

      @@CLEANMUDVIDEOS while talking about the quality why didn't you talk about the sample rates of the interfaces evo 4 is at 96khz and scarlett is at 192 khz so there's no way the sound of evo 4 is better... the scarlett provied a more neutral sounding response which is good but people who like bass and who don't understand clearity will not exactly like that even if it is higher quality. Which all makes it seem as if something was wrong and the actual things were not highlighted. Peace.

    • @CLEANMUDVIDEOS
      @CLEANMUDVIDEOS  3 роки тому +4

      Why don’t you just add that to your videos? You can always find something that isn’t to your liking with anything. Like I could point out that you spelled “clarity” wrong, and take your whole comment as pointless. Although the Scarlett may have clarity but I think it gets a bit brittle in the top end, though still not a turn off to me. This stuff is so subjective at times. Each person has their own preferences and that why I just present what is there and allow people to choose. Sometimes what inspires you to create is the best choice. 🤷🏾‍♂️
