- Default Thumbnail
- Slight audio desync
- Editing being less than the normal smooth
- Bad demos
- My hair
I'm ignoring you, I am so tired lmao
The quality of the content was enhanced by it’s immediacy & clear concise thoughts. Didn’t matter what camera you shot it on one bit. Thanks for your thoughts & taking the time to explore Superbooth, when lots of us can’t.
🙏🙏🙏
💯
The motorized knobs thing is just too cool. It makes me think if I were stupid wealthy I would want a massive moog modular with everything hooked up to something like a bunch of flock digital patch bays, and have all the knobs and switches modded to use motorized knobs and switches. Then you could have all your patches saved and at the press of a button everything would switch to it. It would also look like a crazy Star Trek engineering section with the panel taken off. So many wires.
Holy shit, i only now realize the whole event took place at the FEZ in the Wuhlheide... damn,... that wasn't even too far from where i live. I often went there during class trips in my childhood :O
3:00 NINA! cool to watch the automation
I started a company called SonicBlade, and my best friend is the maker of the Stetsbar. The thing that Jorb said that was most profound, was about the music industry. EVERYONE in it, I speak of the people in it, they are not in it to make money. They are there for love of the world of music. And to make their own place in that world. Please think about that the next time you slag a product. Or accuse a company of some nefarious purpose.
If you ever get a chance to go to Namm, Superbooth, Pasic, or any other one - go! Understand the massive amounts of money it takes to get there, and don't annoy them trying to make their rent payments and (hopefully bus fare home). But go to enjoy the humanity involved in making music - even though it is not the person we normally consider "a music maker".
Jorb, my guy. Moving to a new house this week lots of stress in life. Your videos in general are so calming to me. Thank you 🤙
🙏🙏🙏
All time greatest SuperBooth report. No questions.
Considerate. Emotional. Informative. Not boastful. Accessible.
Respect.
My favorite Jorb video yet - keep making awesome stuff like this!
🙏🙏I sure hope to
Good stuff. Glad you all had a great time!
Just slick bro. That was the best superbooth presentation ive seen so far. Kudos on a bunch of levels. 👍
🙏🙏Thank you!
1:11 OMG is that like a real life version of the reaktor instrument?!🤯😱 I love that thing so much!
Also the Expressive E Osmose is the first digital instrument that looks TRULY forward thinking without throwing away hundreds of years of humans interacting with instruments. Idk how to explain myself, but I want one in every room😋🙃
Accordion is the original acoustic synthesizer. I’d love to see this weird Korg thing built into an accordion form factor.
Okay maybe not original, but still an OG.
Jorb at Superbooth! Excellent taste in new gear, very exciting stuff 😍 Motivating me to take on more clients to afford some of those hot new pieces haha
NINA was fun to play with at NAMM 2022, it's cool to see more features fleshed out :3
Yeah I agree with others…. The videos don’t need to be Michael Bay productions to be effective. Also the Korg & Analog Heat interest me. Plus that SK-1 thing. I know that’s not what it’s called, but I dig things like that. As long as the price is low. Because I’ll just buy a cool used FX pedal and run anything from the thrift store threw it if new gear cost too much. I then capture it and run it into the Digitakt or Tasty Chips GR-1. Point is I like a value because I already invested in the big guns 💪
5:55 that matches my experience, not responsive. The keys are really great but the software definitely needs improvement. Might be good as a controller.
that korg thing just needs a real spring reverb and a real analog delay
Honestly very likely
Good to see you again, newish to your channel but gets lost in notifications 😢
I'm glad to be back!
How did I miss the Erica Steampipe until now? 😯
Was nice meeting you there! 🙏
You as well, cheers!
Thank you!
Analog Heat sounded so rad!
The thing with the Korg, even though it's cool. I wonder if it makes sounds I can't with a synth I already own. Because as far as I've seen it's a no. So it's like a really interesting gimmick at that point
thank you for this! Nina seems to be very interesting! hope next year i can make it to super booth too 😬😁
This was rad. Hope you had fun. Was hoping to see you checking out the soma terra. I see your response on the other question, though.
Oh yeah, I can totally tell the difference in camera quality through my cell phone screen. Cannot believe you would use a *gasp* dynamic mic in your videos either.
Thanks for the vids dude.
😂🫡🫡
Rad sir.
I'd love to try Steampipe with my AKAI EWI.
Jorb are you going to chicago for knobcon in sept? if so ive got your first whiskey
awesome video! I think that electron heat looked pretty rad, did you happen to catch the pricing on that beast?
Thank you.
I missed SB this year but I wanted to visit it so bad 😢 Thanks for showing stuff from here!
🙏🙏 Happy to
I just got to add if you are buying a Osmose, its for the MPE controller first. The synth engine is NOT supposed to be programmed through the panel, its supposed to be through a software editor. It is WAY too deep to program through the Osmose itself. So I get where you were frustrated. However, the synth engine is kind of just a bonus to even be there, especially the Haken Eagenmatrix one which is particularly well suited for MPE (since it is the one the continuum uses). But you are supposed to program that with the software editor since it is one of the deepest synth engines ever created and was designed with the advanced mpe of Haken Continuum in mind. Like there are only a small handful of people who can effectively design sounds with it. It is even more complex than Yamaha FM synths or Additive Synths. I am getting it largely to give it a crack using the software editor, but I also have been doing synthesis for over 35 years at this point. Just understand your frustrations may come from the fact most synth engines are surface level these days and don't require an editor. This requires an editor and the interface on the Osmose is still an improvement over the Continuum. But it's a very advanced form of digital synthesis, something we don't see to often outside of maybe the Iridium and the upcoming Anyma Omega. The fact is the Osmose is really bringing a synth engine which used to be limited to a very small audience to a much wider one. But the nice thing is you can't click with the synth engine, its a killer controller and there are lots of synths that support polyphonic aftertouch or MPE these days, and the Osmose supports both. You still have the awesome controller at the end of the day. I have other MPE controllers though, and this is the easiest entry point to the eagenmatrix synth.
I just wanted to write the same. Fully agree.
The macros are fully assignable to a plethora of features, and the SHARC dsp is tuned to the MPE action at a level and speed probably not possible to duplicate with any exterior hardware. No DAW can even record the MPE+ digitally at the moment. Not to say there is not fun to be had. The synth itself has an unprecedented feature set, with a interface designed to get you exponentially deeper than any current alternative. But TLDR; for most, who prefer to trash it triumphantly 🥱
I too am impressed by the Korg acoustic synth. I doubt it will blow up, it's too esoteric for casual users, but I want to demo one asap, possibly get one just for the unique-ness of it. (I hope they keep that formula on lock or Uli will steal it.) Thanks for posting :)
I can see a DIY-Set coming up when this thing is fleshed out.
Did you catch that Roland sponsorship? I can't control my gas bought a Juno 106s had to get new voices for one dead one but it's pretty much worth the legend. That Nina would be a game changer for midi out paramater editing, I could only imagine the madness you could make
On the S1 video I did!
Yeah Nina really blew me away
fuck the camera, we here for JORB!
😤😤🫡🫡
if you didn't mention the camera i wouldn't have noticed - your phone camera is more than good enough
The Nina is really fascinating! It's all about the "I-Word" Josh! ;)
TED yes indeed it is, it's a very innovative approach. Hope you get to try one soon!
Dude, did you miss out on the nebula instrument at the entrance, now that had amslick interface. Albeit beeing glass , it has two actuators and you can run an external synth through the sheetmetal and plastic resonators. Now that has resonance and distortion. Check it out. Bit pricey but hey, draws no power :-) would have loved to run into you, only had a collision with cuckoo. Maybe next time. Everyone who hasnt been: come to superbooth 2024!
I have never heard of this dang
Well…..it will be interesting to compare this to your eventual Osmose deep dive…if you spend the same energy you did to learn the mpc1k, it will be good. Not much sign of homework here. As owner for 2 months, one thing is obvious: it’s a masterpiece at multiple levels, and the synth is as impressive as the action. But it’s not dumbed down to the usual knobs. Is the S-1? The juicy bits will take some practice, and the same attention to the EaganMatrix will open a new universe. Just like chops: no pain, no gain. A cryin shame 😂 If you can play the viola, you know that. Haken was raised on the violin. Those instruments are not even recordable, let alone synth-able, but the Osmose takes us much closer, as might a resonator from La Voix du Luthier..I'm hoping :) For pure ever-addictive sound, my current distraction is a 7 course Lute, the ultimate bedroom instrument. No video prepares you for it's gamut of sound. My fav drum machine is a set of cheap timbales. Cascara over rumba clave...very healthy.
So Korg was an evolved version of an electric piano?
Similar principles involved, yes. Really curious to see what it becomes
but with a crazy cool feedback circuit i guess. waiting to hear more examples, i thought i’d looove it it’s my kind of concept but the demos have been short and i don’t feel like i have a feel of it from them.
@@somewhere-else all the demos I've seen are about as much as it does currently
Would love to hear a word or two about the Vector Tempera ... not much info around.
Pretty early still, very good user interface
The Spectraphon looks absolutely insane. Its such a chunky boy in terms of hp tho.
I mean this is a compliment, everytime I walked by it sounded like Jabba the Hutt.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Hearing similar about the Osmose. Agree, the smaller guys make the space fun. Reminds me of those at Eureka Park at CES. Safe travels home.
🙏🙏 Cheers, will be long, but nice to be back
Wonder if the steampipe is related to the Reaktor patch, it seems very similar
I believe it's an engine from the 112db software
Yes it is. They even said so in the show.
Mr. Jorb…do a DeepMind 12 patch set emulating the Jupiter-8 factory patches. If you don't have access to a real Jupiter-8 use Arturia's Jup-8 V software emulation which sounds very good. I would happily name a very fair price for a faithfully recreated patch set featuring all the Jupiter-8 factory presets.
No mention of the UDO super Gemini?
It's crazy, but since I've had lots of time on a super six, I spent focused elsewhere
@@JorbLovesGear understandable. I can only imagine the stimulus overload of being at superbooth. Thanks for what you do.
Did you get a chance to listen and play with the PWM Mantis? If so, what did you think?
Didn't make it, it's something I'm interested in once it's a finished design though
You're in Berlin, but the bubble logo must have been left back in the States
I KNEW YOU'D SAY SOMETHING
Super Gemini didn’t make the cut?
It's dope, but I thought the super 6 was too much for me. Not much to add, since it's super 6 x 2 and I had done a video already
Finally someone who spent time on the Osmose Controls and interface. Keybed is awesome the knobs interface etc is horrible. Like a tack on afterthought
Your affect seems on the flat side, hope you’re doing ok mental health wise buddy.
Very kind of you to ask, mostly jet lag you're seeing at the end of a true sprint of a trip. Cheers
"gear one, gear two, JORB one, JORB two" could be a new "pre-intro?"
😂😂 Just needed to check the go mixer, maybe I keep it up
Its funny how gear means heroin in Scotland.
First
Second
2023, nothing new happens in music industry. Same old stuff just remaked. 😢
We need too ask Ai how to make new synth …
Did we see the same stuff
if you don't really know, then why do a vid?
What didn't I know? What was lacking? I made it clear this was quick looks at things that impressed me.
I am sick of new gear. I am sick of consuming. I am so fuckin sick of capitalism.
I understand that feeling. To me, I think of it as passionate people make things they're proud of. Not nearly as damaging as a lot of industries
Great to see! But what’s up with Korg Gadget ! ? 🫤🧐👽
Looks like they build more toys than reel synths...
