Been working on my cursive for 5 years for work. My nurses notes have come a long way. For fun l thought copper plate will step my game up. There are a lot of tutorials but your teaching re negative space widths etc have helped greatly. Thankyou for sharing your knowledge .

Thank you Maria for such an in depth demonstration. Usually the videos on UA-cam, you just watch and nobody talks.
I loved you explanation of each stroke. It makes it easier to understand the letters form and execution.! Thank you again for
Sharing your wonderful talent. It’s just fabulous!!! Marie

So happy to find this teaching. I will have to open an Instagram account to get your other offers. You are a great teacher.
    Sad schools quit teaching cursive.

I am just starting. And i must say, i am so happÿ i found you. The precision you have made me aware of right at the start is priceless. I feel like im learning correctly and to check myself now, rather than having to unlearn something to do it correctly later. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. I truly appreciate you. ❤

I am finding starting my ovals at the two o'clock position works actually so much better, because.. as Maria said, if there's any misalignment of the join, it's hidden under the eyelash or the downstroke of like the a, d ect. One of the best hints I have found in calligraphy!
    thank you so much

I remember when I was little (I’m 30) in French school we were taught cursive and up until college we had to write on paper that still has these lines. And no matter if I was 6 or 18 I would always use the ascendant and descendant lines. Now that I don’t really use this paper anymore I feel like my handwriting has gotten worse and this is what led me to properly learn copperplate art. Thank you for the lesson and the trip down memory lane ❤

Beautiful lesson. Truly an art and skill that can be learned. Like playing an instrument it takes learning and practice. Thank you for a well taught part of this beautiful art.
    I am just beginning.

Thank so much for your design, insight to your writing. It has a beautiful symmetry and now I understand that this
Requires understanding rules, and design to make the writing truly beautiful. This is art we can all love and appreciate,
    And love to better communications.
    Thanks again,Bo.

I came across your video today as im just starting to learn calligraphy. This channel is by far the best I've seen on UA-cam. Thank you for sharing your insights and making it so much easier to understand, as opposed to just reading a book only.
Im having a bit of trouble finding your guide sheets. Ive searched and searched. Please help.

I learned handwriting from 1938 As a child I knew I had it in me to improve I knew that it would be an uphill battle. Over the years skill wise I been handicapped some times it’s been awful
There I think to do your best pick it up by combining the styles
of the best writers including this kind lady’s,skills and others then combining practiceJust write, Do be your sternest critic.
It will bloom into a great hand. Notice that each successive letter partially matches the one before and the one after it.
I feel for the dear souls who admit that their hand is unreadable
such admirable people. I kid myself I’m an expert . am
however hopeless on the Computer LOL

i love your videos on calligraphy.
I have been trying to lean calligraphy by my own. But the problem is that I am not right-handed also I am not an under writer.
Do you have any tips for that?

    • @iamariamontes
      @iamariamontes  3 роки тому +1

Being a left-hander is not a problem for writing Copperplate. Two tips: Make sure your nib is positioned following the 55 degrees, and look for a left-hander Copperplate calligraphy teacher as she/he will be able to share some great first-hand tips.
