  • In this fourth introduction to Copperplate calligraphy for beginners, I talk about writing words, its rhythm, spacing and the relationship between each pair of letters.
    Writing words is forcing us to answer many questions about the characteristics of the Copperplate script. Every single pair of letters is unique and is challenging us to understand the type of ligature and spacing required.
    The letters I selected for this demo have been explained previously on Part 1, 2 and 3 of these short series.

    I’m learning because of you, THANK YOU 😊 You are very good in explaining step by step how to draw the strokes, how to improve them and how to learn from our mistakes. You speak through every stroke you draw and very slowly to give us the opportunity to listen to your voice and write at the same time with our eyes on the paper. You are an amazing teacher and will always be grateful for helping me overcome the feeling of being overwhelmed as anxious every time I was holding my dip pen. I’m feeling more and more confident every day and I love the SELF EVALUATION, it’s helping me to see my mistakes as a learning point rather then being too hard on myself 😊 you are a blessing 🙏🏽🌺

    Thank you Maria, very informative and useful analysis.
    There are two spaces above and two spaces below.
    This means there are four spaces between each line of script?

    • @iamariamontes
      @iamariamontes  2 роки тому

      Four or five units between each x-height lines, depending on if you want ascenders and descenders to touch each other or not.

    Thank you for your sharing😊 how do you put the paper? Parallel to your body or tilted towards right? Can’t decide by myself 😞

    • @iamariamontes
      @iamariamontes  2 роки тому +1

      I'm a right hander and I positioned the paper angled to the right to help me with the 55-degree slant, but everyone is different, so whatever it works best for you.
