  • This is a ribbon braid tutorial that shows you how to make the Ruffle Braid. It’s also a tutorial to show you how to make a braid that I am not sure of the name, so I’ve called it Mystery Braid! If you have seen the Mystery Braid before or know the name, please comment below!! I can’t have been the only one that’s done this! These are both perfect for your homecoming mums and garters!

    I need to get my rufflers out! Beautiful 💜
    Connie did something similar, I think she called it "bow braid" not sure it's the same or not though. Love all the creative ideas everyone has been coming up with, gives everyone so many options for their mums!!

      Yes!! It is giving that same vibe!! Her Bow Braid is made with just one ruffled ribbon and then I think the ruffle is pulled or glued into a bow shape. This one is gluing two ruffled ribbons together kinda like the ruffle braid, but instead of on the edges, glue the ruffles together. I LOVE her Bow Braid!

    For the hot glue strings, dab the tip of your glue gun on the ribbon to “cut off” the glue instead of just lifting your glue gun away. Think of of it like the meaty cheese on a good slice of pizza, you gotta cut it off. 😊💕

      Thank you so much for the tip!!! That totally worked!!! And the analogy?? Perfecto!!! lol!!!!!! I appreciate it, you’ve helped me up my glue game! 😘
      I know it seems like such an obvious thing , but I have no explanation to why I didn’t just do that 🤣😂

    Okay, I am getting set to do the ruffle Braid. Got my Rufflers, and now I am wondering if you used Satin or some kind of softer ribbon?? I have the braiding ribbons , I mean they call it McGinley Satin, however it does contain acetate. Would you give me an idea on what you used on he blue and yellow. Thank you again!

    • @apdesignstx
      @apdesignstx  Місяць тому

      Yes! 💝
      I used Gold Label McGinley Lustre on the blue and yellow. I know that Connie at Southern Cottage has a video of a bow braid using softer ribbon. I think that satin would still work on this, it would just be softer and more dainty. At least in my head, LOL! Let me know how it goes!! Would love to see a pic of what you make.

    I just started this to try but read somewhere to keep your glue sticks in the freezer. I plan on using them in a day or two, I’ll update if it works

      @@apdesignstx😂😂 I just found this comment so that I could respond with results! 🤦🏼‍♀️ using the glue sticks that were kept in the freezer didn’t work for me… and once I tried I started thinking maybe I’m an idiot because they are frozen…. 🥶 and it would barely come out of the gun. 🤷🏼‍♀️

    I have never seen the ruffle braid before. I'm having trouble with dimensions. What is the width of your ribbon and the length of your box pleats? The blue and yellow is beautiful. Also did you double your ribbon?

    • @apdesignstx
      @apdesignstx  2 місяці тому

      Hi! Thank you April! I did not double my ribbon by color on that one. So I'm using 1 of each color per side. I'm using a #9 (1 5/16) I'm using Gold Label McGinley Satin Royal Blue and Golden Yellow. The Golden Yellow looks SOOOOO good with the Royal Blue. The pleating tool I'm using is helping me to create pleats that are about 1.5" ea. On this one, I don't think I precut the ribbon, I think I'm doing it right off the spools. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any more questions :)

    How are you gluing the two together?? Gluing a ruffle to ruffle, or top of , then bottom or, or skipping one. I'm watching your hands, but can't really tell. Thank you!!

    • @apdesignstx

      Hi! I am gluing the two "spines" together and doting glue on each ruffle, then pressing them together ruffle to ruffle. I hope this helps!
