Combination Braid | Whip & Spin
This is a homecoming mum braid tutorial to show you how to combine two popular homecoming braids to get an upscaled combo braid called Whip & Spin. I did not create this braid, I learned it from a tutorial that Spirit of Texas Mums has on TikTok. I knew it would be a great addition to my tutorials here on UA-cam.

This is a ribbon braid tutorial for a homecoming mum or lei braid. The herringbone braid is similar to a Texas Diamond/Victory braid, but is mad by weaving the ribbons in a "v" shaped pattern.

This is a classic homecoming mum braid/chain called Texas Diamond or Victory Braid. Flip it over and glue thin ribbon strips going across to keep the two Mobius together first. Then flip back on to the Mobius side to glue the bling on. It my make it easier to glue the bling on

Where do you get the stapler
I ordered it on Amazon. It’s a Bostich P3 Plier stapler.
I have used "Texas" sized Braids since I first started making mums. I usually put names, or mascot etc on them. I have even used them on the mum crown before.

Are you alternating the ruffles? Like the first ruffle going towards you then the next going away from you and so forth? Hope this question makes sense lol 😅
I was going to ask the same thing!
I’m rolling backward at the bottom to start the ruffle, then move up and roll forward to close the ruffle. Does that help?

Okay, I am getting set to do the ruffle Braid. Got my Rufflers, and now I am wondering if you used Satin or some kind of softer ribbon?? I have the braiding ribbons , I mean they call it McGinley Satin, however it does contain acetate. Would you give me an idea on what you used on he blue and yellow. Thank you again!
Yes! 💝 I used Gold Label McGinley Lustre on the blue and yellow. I know that Connie at Southern Cottage has a video of a bow braid using softer ribbon. I think that satin would still work on this, it would just be softer and more dainty. At least in my head, LOL! Let me know how it goes!! Would love to see a pic of what you make.

Ohhh I would love to see it if you can post! Bubblegum braids are one of my favs…but sadly I’m more often than not on the lazy side when it comes time to make it LOL! Though I did get a ribbon cutting machine that has made it way easier, so maybe I’ll have to give a jumbo one a try! Love it!
Mine does not look like that. Lol. Cool, but I ran out of the middle one.
That’s ok, you can always staple and hide it. Actually lots of people don’t braid using the full length because it’s too much ribbon to work with, you got this! Maybe I can post a short video of how to do that and how to hide the connection of the added ribbon…hmmm I like it, thanks for the idea, LOL!!

Hi! I am gluing the two "spines" together and doting glue on each ruffle, then pressing them together ruffle to ruffle. I hope this helps!
