So, boring story. My vet friend gave me some huge bovine gauge needles for free to use for culinary purposes. The huge size of needle is small enough to inject colorful pudding inside globes of clear jelly to make edible flowers inside rain drops. He said I totally could clean these needles and reuse them. Maybe the shear size is the reason?

Yeah, my first thought was "where is the root?", and my second thought was how much more expensive the procedure is going to be now that they'll probably have to go digging for that root. Please people, unless you are literally stranded on an uninhabited island, please see your dentist for toothaches and have the actual dentist do the work they prescribe, dental infections can cause life threatening and potentially lifelong health issues.

Side note: sober since 05 Mar 2017
Edit: the needle exchanges I've used were in the US and Canada (dozens of cities) and in South America (only in Brazil; more specifically, Sao Bernardo do Campo and Santo Andre, and then Rio), so I can't speak on the sizes and types of syringes provided by any exchange outside of those areas--if I'd have thought of it while writing my original post, I would have specified which countries '(the only) needle exchange I've ever used' were in...but that's what edits are for!

I used to volunteer for a syringe exchange program for my county, so I feel I must point out that NO, it is not safe to reuse needles. Even if you're cleaning them with rubbing alcohol (which isn't 100% effective for something with so many crevices), it's not just a germ thing. The needle gets dulled and damaged every time you use it, so it will cause more damage to your skin and possibly lead to skin infections or abscess. Those can also spread and lead to endocarditis, an inflammation of the heart, which can be very serious

Years ago I became addicted to original Pine Sol. The smell. I'm talking sinks and small plastic dish tubs of water mixed in with massive amounts of concentrated Pine Sol. You could smell it outdoors before even being directly at my house 😮. I had never had anything weird before that (or since).
After about a year, I ended up learning I was extremely anemic and had to begin iron infusions at hospital. Was stunned that I began literally gagging at Pine Sol smells.
Ended up searching online and discovered there are actually many people that had the same issue with Pine Sol.
Never used it again. Even smelling it if someone else cleaned with it gives me instant nausea and bad headache.
Deficiencies can create super strange obsessions for sure

I have since been to the dentist. I mentioned that I had to do this to him, and he commented on what a good job I did. @@tjjones-xj7kq yeah, I did an alcohol rinse first. But the actual tooth was already cracked down the middle (it was a wisdom tooth), so that gave me some leverage. Then when I was removing it, it was breaking up more. Sounds grim, but it helped a lot. It was just getting all the bits out then. The dentist has actually since told me he is quite impressed that I got it all out. For numbing, I used oragel and also a CRAP load of clove oil. That clove oil numbs you up SO well. Just have to be careful where you get it. I got it all over my cheeks and lips and it was all numb 🤣 It does wear off somewhat quickly though so had to keep re applying it hence getting it EVERYWHERE. But, and it’s a big but. It tastes fucking AWFUL. So, so bad.

TLDR:If you have decent insurance I'd strongly recommend you go to a dentist. You did well once but it can go wrong and you are at a horrible position to see what's going on and dig out a small piece of stuck root.
Great job on doing it yourself! I had to have a root canal done on a tooth that was extremely painful. It of course started hurting on Friday (they're open only M-Thu with "emergency" appointments other times at a high cost) so I used clove oil from a kit on my cracked tooth. It DOES work GREAT! I was so happy how well it worked. I made it till Monday where they sneaked me in. However for me it said don't get any on your gums or anything but tooth. I know why my gums hurt not numb but painful. So idk but I was careful to avoid the skin.
All that said a dentist/Ortho is nice for screwy roots that will break off under the gum surface and require them to go and cut the tissue to get the root fibers out. You don't really know till you see an X-ray. I lucked out since the doc was worried about one of mine. Luckily the root cane out fine.
At least you didn't deal with a annoyed dental hygienist. The one I had I think was having a bad day. Doc was cool though. Oh and the $1K dollar bill hurt more than the removal!!!! Cost over $300 per tooth! Glad I was only born with 3. That was WITHOUT the drugs that make you high and goofie. I only had the face numbing injections like with a regular cavity filling. No fancy drug that makes me forget what's what.
      Fun times 3/10 wouldn't do it again😂

They often crack the tooth in half just so they can pull it out and still struggle. Unless that tooth was so rotten it was falling out (should be on an antibiotic at that point) that extraction was too easy and the tooth looks like a child's tooth with no root.

Yea also $1800 totally for RCT and Crown/core is cheap as hell. Our office is already pretty cheap and we charge like $890 or $940 for rct and crown is like $1400 and $200 for core.
It's funny people just think everything is expensive without properly comparing prices and understanding why things cost as much as they do.

Was thinking the same thing, my Dad had a back tooth removed a few years back and he had to be knocked out for it. He actually had a bit of a mark on his chest, where the poor dentist had to brace his elbow to get enough force to pull out the tooth. No way in hell you can just lift it out like in this clip.

If Jaime can do it, I can do it. I absolutely love her! So grateful for her. She's made me laugh at some of the saddest days of my life. Bless you, Jaime. I know quite a few people who have pulled their own teeth or had teeth pulled not by a dentist. A lot of families in PR were poor and lived very rurally, with no access to dentists or doctors not so long ago. My dad, many of my aunts and uncles, almost all of our grandparents and parents in PR were born in their homes because the hospital was days away on foot or by horse. They would get checked and registered days or weeks after they were born, and a lot of times the info on their birth certificate ended up being wrong because of this.

My favorite episode is… actually you know what my whole life was just an episode of extreme cheapskates growing up. My mom actually pulled her own tooth but then the infection spread to the tooth next to it and that tooth broken half and she was absolutelyFLOORED . By the pain like writhing in agony. For basically a whole day because it was a Sunday and she didn’t want to pay for an emergency dentist …Moral of the story don’t pull your own tooth. If you don’t wanna root canal it’s only $300 /$500 at the dentist to have them pull your tooth. 😂

I just gotta tell you why I love reaction videos, but maybe you will think it's weird. I totally get why people think, "why would you want to watch someone else watch something?" but... there is something lovely about it. I like watching how people react to my favorite movies-- maybe they notice things I didn't, or they see things different, or maybe they love it just like me and it's fun to re-live my favorite moments as if it's the first time with this other person. We have to be aware that these are parasocial relationships, but there is something about it that feels less lonely than just rewatching your favorite movie for the millionth time. It's like sharing something with someone, even though it's technically one-sided... it can bring sooo much joy and interest and curiosity. It provides insight into other people's perspectives and experiences. It can give you new appreciation for something you've felt jaded about. It helps with feelings of loneliness in some way.
For me, this is why I really love reaction videos. Specifically, people reacting to movies, TV shows, and music that I really like, and they are exposed for the first time. Those can be so interesting!
