47 years ago i learned how to crochet (taught by my late mother) and I have been crocheting ever since then and now with the internet I can learn allot more stitches. and being lefthanded i dont need to switch to the left handed version i can switch it in my head, and i am working on a blanket for myself with this stitch i just learned and it is so easy and beautiful. My grandmother taught me to crochet as a child, but I had forgotten how to do it. You revived my interest, and I have found it to be relaxing and enjoyable now at age 66. thank you!

My granny taught me a few stitches when I was really little. I found this channel and am having so much fun. I have 1 ball of yarn and I practice my stitches. Mum thinks it's silly but to her.... everything is silly unless it's exspensive with a high end label. I love all the stories in the comments. It makes me feel like I'm not doing something silly. My granny will show me more stitches when I go to live with her. I'll make something lovely!

Isn't it frustrating when they do that? Even worse are the ones who are crocheting to music and think they're teaching you something. Sometimes there's caps. Sometimes not.

I very new to learning crochet so I keep referring to google for hook & wool sizes, this is the first time I’ve realised the stitches are different as well .... which would explain some of the very odd looking samples I’ve made compared to how they should have turned out ... this one looked lovely and I’m definitely going to use it ... after I’ve gone back and had another go some of the others I’ve tried. 😏
Hello from New Hampshire... When I was taught to crochet (here in the US) what you demonstrated as a double crochet, I learned it as a half double. Likewise your treble is my double. What do you call the next stitch up? My treble 🤔. This is a fine example of "two countries divided by a common language"!!! No matter, it is a great tutorial👏🏻👍

My grandma taught me what she called a Lemon Peel stitch that I think is the same or similar. Is that right? Your instructions are very good! Easy to follow thank you.
I did this in the brand, peaches and cream, yarn size medium 4, 100% cotton, hook size G or 4.25 mm. My yarn was 706 yards long, 14oz net weight or 400 g, that got me started on a blanket that is now 42 inches by 14 inches. ( I do like this, very much so far, I washed and dried it and all the small gaps and mistakes I made seemed to disappear, thanks to how it tightened up.)
I made a child's blanket with this stitch and love it. I am new at crocheting and found that my sides are wavy. What can I do to prevent that? I put a border on and it still ripples on the sides. Thanks. Love the videos.🙂

After you finished the foundation chain, it looks like you went into the FIRST chain from the hook instead of the second like you said. Am I missing something? Beautiful stitch!
When I used this stitch in a blanket it really used a lot of yarn. I used a worsted weight and was amazed at how dense and thick the finished product was. You may not want to use a chunky yarn because your stitches will not be defined and it will use up so much yarn.
Hi, Carol Merrick, My work had a tendency to fan, too. I started using a larger hook to work the foundation chain, then use intended hook for the rest of the project. If the yarn type calls for a 6 mm hook, I'll use a 6.5 mm or 7 mm for the foundation chain, then switch to a 6 mm hook for the body of the project. Doing so has helped me tremendously in preventing that 'fan.' 🙂
Mombie Zombie I would think it depends on the yarn you’re using and how tight or loose you want your stitches. When I follow along to these great tutorials, I’ll work a small bit and change my hook depending on how it’s looking. Hope that helps a bit!

I made a seed stitch blanket but I’m wondering if it would look better with a border and what sort of border would be best?
I learned this as the lemon peel stitch. Then there's the griddle stitch and the stitch you're doing. Are they all the same thing?
