You make the best informative videos on rx maintenance. Thank you very much will save me a lot of money doing it myself.
Thank you for the positive feedback and encouragement!
@@Viktor_G_AutomotiveHi, you stated the torque was 114 ft-lb. Lexus forum states 78 ft-lb. Please confirm. Thank you!
@@HungTran-dq5ut The information provided in my video is accurate. Thanks for watching!
Great work Viktor, I now have the confidence to replace my own front pads. Thanks for helping all of us.
You got it!
Mr. Viktor, thank you for the most descriptive video. I was always afraid to take brake clips off and get on after cleaning. Now I know. A lot of other things in video that were helpful. If you rotors are not warped can you get way with not replacing them.
Thanks! The rotors do not need to be replaced if they are above minimum thickness, but I would recommend to always machine then on the brake lathe to straighten them and let the new pads wear in properly.
Thank you for quick response @@Viktor_G_Automotive
Amazing video and information Viktor! One of the best brake replacement videos on UA-cam! Any chance to do a similar video for 2022 NX 350h? Thank you Viktor
Thank you! If I get my hands on the new NX again, I’ll try to make a brake replacement video.
Thanks!
Thank you so much for supporting the channel, I truly appreciate it!
I ordered some Raybestos rotors from RockAuto but I noticed that they have that extra hole by the lug holes, similar to the rears where you need to put a rubber plug in it. Have you ever seen that before in the fronts? It didn't come with rubber plugs and not sure if I should try to get some from a Toyota dealership. My current RX rotors don't have that extra hole. The CarCareNut on UA-cam said to make sure your rears have that plug in it so that the insides don't get rusted out.
Hi, I've not seen front rotors with a hole or a plug. In any case, it is not necessary. Even on rear rotors, there is plenty of space for water to get in behind the rotor, so that plug doesn't really do much.
Is there a break replacement mode that the vehicle needs to be placed in before replacement? Or sensors that will be tripped during the process?
Not for the front brakes, only for the rear.
Thanks
@@brentc.8624 no problem
Those bracket bolts are tight. No threadlocker but they had to be torqued to around 150ftlbs on mine. I’m 6’1 250lbs and all I had on hand was my 15” breaker bar….. it was a good grunt getting them off front and back. I used anti-seize when I installed and torqued to 100ftlbs to allow for anti-seize.
@@beri232 yep, they are pretty tight for sure 👍
Great video!
Thank you!
Great video Victor, I just called two lexus dealerships in my area for front rotors on my "17 Rx 350 they both said the part # was 43512-F6010. Have they changed from using part # 43512-0E040?
Hi, either one will work. Lexus/Toyota often has several interchangeable part numbers, depending on whether the vehicle was manufactured in Japan, Canada, USA etc.
What other brake pad and rotor brands beside OEM can you recommend?
Nice video and I have learnt a few things. Thanks
@@jamescc2010 thanks! I personally don’t have much experience with aftermarket brakes, so unfortunately can’t recommend any. I always use OEM
Great Video makes it look easy! but probably not for newbies... I recently had some error codes pop up on my lexus 2015 NX200t. One stated "braking power low", "Antilock Brake System Malfunction", AWD system malfunction 2WD Mode Engaged". Do you know what might cause these? I'm assuming related to braking system. Thanks!
@@ryanriel7 hi, you would need to scan it for fault codes to give you an idea of where the problem might lie.
@@Viktor_G_Automotive I'm getting error code C1407. Online it shows ABS brake system. Any idea what it could be? Thanks!
@@Viktor_G_Automotive I checked the fault code again and saw right rear speed sensor failure. Found broken wire and soldered. Now Working!
@@ryanriel7 excellent work!
Great Video; you mentioned you Turned the Rotors. How much need to get turned or what’s max size or thickness of Rotor need ? Beyond what thickness size left you can not turn and need to discard to buy new ones ? Minimum specification size will help.
Hi, new rotor thickness is 28 mm. Minimum thickness is 25 mm. How much you need to machine off the rotor will depend on how warped or grooved it is. Usually they can be machined twice before they reach minimum thickness, but that will depend on your driving style and the type of pads you use (aftermarket ones often wear the rotor down significantly more than the OEM pads do).
Thank you for the video. One question. In one of the other videos, I saw a lady bled out the brake fluid while pushing piston back. She said it might damage ABS system and cause thousands of dollars damage if not doing so. Is this really necessary?
@@johnthehammer7702 hi, my video follows the factory repair manual, which does not instruct you to bleed the caliper while compressing the piston. You can if you want to, but I’ve not seen damage caused by following the repair manual procedure in the past.
hello viktor, can you make a video how to remove the lexus rx350 fender liner from the front left side right side?
thank you👍
Will do if I ever get a chance, thanks!
Hello Victor, do you have a video out that demonstrates how to repair the CV axles or the CV boots on a 2018 Lexus RX 350 L all wheel drive?
Hi Sean, unfortunately not at this time.
Nice video. Did you end up having to turn the front wheels to access those bolts that hold the caliper bracket?
I personally do no turn the wheels, but some people prefer to do that for ease of access. Thanks for watching!
Hello Victor, if the boot is merely slightly damaged with a small amount of grease, is it feasible to replace just the boot and not the CV joint? Is this even advisable?
Yes, definitely possible to replace just the boot and install new grease. However, in practice, most dealerships or DIYers would generally replace the complete axle. It is a bit of extra work to take it all apart and also very messy :)
Thank you for the videos im learning a lot. I ordered front pads for my NX300 from the dealer and noticed one pad on each set is marked with a purple dot. Does it mean that marked pad goes inside?
I don’t remember the NX front pads being marked or being different side to side, but just compare them to the old ones you are taking out to be sure.
Hi Victor, can you post a video for 2022 Hybrid RX450HL break fluid bleed / change? thank you
Will do if I get a chance!
Can i use permatex silicon ceramic brake lube instead of toyota rubber grease
I’ve never used it, but it appears it should work ok according to the description of the product.
@Viktor_G_Automotive thanks for the info! The description says I can use it for all brake parts. But I would still need anti seize right? Also do you think it's safe to use this for both caliper pins and the shims?
@@hongshin4716 unfortunately, I can’t answer that, since I have no experience with that product
Would this be the same procedure for a 2019 UX200 F-Sport?
Yes, almost identical.
thank you!
Any time!
Hi there Viktor, Thanks so much for the instructional video again! I'm getting ready to replace the front brakes on my 2017 RX 350. Should I apply any grease or anti seize compound to the wheel hub before putting on the new rotor?
I normally don’t, but it is absolutely fine if you do.
Thank you sir. I think I'll skip it. I'm in Arizona so there is not usually rust etc on the hub here.@@Viktor_G_Automotive
Any chance you can post a video on how to change the brake fluid (and bleed) on 2022 Lexus RX 450h hybrid please? I understand it's a much more complex job than a regular ICE RX350. Thanks
To do it properly you would need to use a scan tool.
Is bleeding the brakes necessary after replacing pads and rotors?
It is not
Excellent thanks. Your video was extremely informative. I’m an OEM kinda guy lol
@@rperez9079 excellent, can’t go wrong with OEM Toyota/Lexus!
I used your other video about a year ago and the video was amazing. (I did brake pads and rotors) I slowly started getting front end shake while braking that got worse and worse.
Luckily the parts were under warranty so I got new pads and rotors installed this weekend. What would be the cause of the rotor warping that happened to me. The rotors are good quality and the pads are euro spec
You probably won't like my answer, but if this vehicle came to me for diagnosis, I would recommend to start by replacing the rotors, pads and shims with factory parts. I understand that you feel the parts are of good quality, but from my perspective, it is not possible to be sure of what is causing the issue when dealing with aftermarket parts. Often the warp is caused by either improper pads/rotors or driving habits such as overloading or towing with the vehicle, especially in hilly/mountainous terrain.
@@Viktor_G_Automotive Yeah.. in other words, the rotors got hot. And I don't now how "good" the brakes are on these vehicles. Someone I know says they feel weak after driving a newer Mustang GT, but yeah, some vehicles just don't come with big enough brakes and just a little spirited driving will ruin the rotors. That or running the pads all the way down to the metal will mess your rotors up if driven too long like that.
I mean, yes, it's a "Lexus", but it's still Toyota. And in my experience, Domestic vehicles always have FAR beefier brakes, specifically much larger rotors.
Your amazon store link for the brake pads shows applicable to 2016-18 RX models. Is the part # you mention also applicable to 2020 Fsport Models?
Hi, looks like they updated the part number for 2020-2022 models. I have edited the links. Thank you for bringing this to my attention! Here is the link for front pads for the 2020-2022 models (I may receive a small commission if you make a purchase using the link :) ebay.us/lY1UxU

@@angelomessina5459 most likely, yes.

What is torque specs for rear brake?
All torque specs are in the video.
Front and rear are same torque specs? In the video have only front brake.

Thank u
18: the mark form the piston, arent those new
The pads are new, the shims were reused, as shown earlier in the video.
You forgot to tell people to pump up your brake pedal after replacing pads and before driving off the first time after creating a gap between pads, callipers and rotors, you need to close that space by pumping the brake pedal, it can cause an accident with no pedal pressure and you won't have brakes.
@@nurullah5845 good suggestion
Nice. They didn't throw anything requiring a special tool on there. Just good old simple brake pad and rotor removal like any car from the 80's and newer.
Nothing worse than seeing that you need some special one size fits all cube to twist the caliper pistons back in.. *cough cough* Ford.

Textar Pads are an OEM for toyota. /Lex
Are they? I’ve never heard of that company, most Toyota/Lexus brake components I see are made by ADVICS, some possibly by Akebono
