My one question: I'm trying to max out acquired tolerance however, I only have 266 base toxicity. From tons of research I've heard 267 is the max baseline. I cant find any checklists online for all recipies. Is there a list or magical number in this video? I know it's broken down here into subtypes but the numbers are a bit off where it shows the 9 recipies for "ingredients" portion, but then he goes on to discuss the additional mutagen recipies from B&W but doesn't show the grand total for the subtype, nor the total recipie number needed for max acquired tolerance.
As I said I'm only missing one and it's so hard to figure out what or where the hell it is it's maddening!
Update: just found a thread on game faqs stating there are 5 quest related formulas...I have 4. So does anyone have any idea wich i could be missing? I've spent all day trying to find the info....I have chort lure, cleansing mixture, pops mold antidote and decoction of the grasses...
2nd update: I think I finally found the 267th point, shaelmar bait from the quests category. Props again the the creator of this video...but I feel that a more consice overview of all alchemy formulas needed to max out acquired tolerance should have been in order.
I have seen more than my guts worth of negative comments today from people saying a few missing points is no big deal and you only need 2 decoctions up anyway, I am a completionist and NEED ALL points available,!!@@

Just to confirm your shared information, you were missing the Shaelmar bait that is given to you during the Tofu Monster Contract (B&W expansion).
Also the other 4 related Quest formulas are Chort Lure / Cleansing Mixture/ Pops Mould Antidote / Decoction of the Grasses.

That’s why it’s recommended to play this game on higher difficulties. It encourages you to read the glossary and use potions and oils which make a The game way more dynamic

@@dathunderman4 but higher difficulties can make it unrealistic, when certain weak enemies (especially normal humans) become stronger than they should be. I'd prefer fighting fighting 20 weak humans rather than 5 over-powered ones
Never used cat. Lasts too short, and having a torch in one's hand makes it unnecessary. Plus even in the dark you can still see too much to make light relevant, unfortunately
A quick tip if you are tired of crafting white gull and alchemy ingredients. In Toussaint's Beauclair near The Gran Place there is an alchemist. If you go there you can buy a bunch of alchemy ingredients for literal pennies. Aether, vermilion, rubedo and so on. The price varies from 40 to 100 crowns for unit.

These videos are sooo well made. Started with your beginners guide video then stopped by to check the in depth ones whenever I needed additional information.
I started this game about 4 times since it was released but gave up very early on each time after either playing it on easy mode and getting bored or not giving it enough time to understand the mechanics to play it on the hardest mode (for example staying away from alchemy just because I thought that I had to craft potions each time I used them - because you don't need much in depth knowledge when you can just hit whoever over the head with the wrong sword on easy mode and they're dead).
This time I went all in on the hardest difficulty because I was looking for a game to keep me engaged and wanted to see what all the fuss was about, and omfg the fuss was justified. 10 years later after everyone told me so, I'm absolutely in love with this game and a huge part of it is because of your step by step tutorials. So much so that after a month in and not even finishing the campaign I'm pretty confident that I can make a better Griffin based Sign build than I've seen in any video so far - via Euphoria (manticore and toxicity skills swap every hour).
I'm probably completely wrong in regards to my build, but I love the options and the sense of progression.
Have beaten the game over 5 times. Last 3 times on deathmarch with alc. Build. Yet i find myself watching these how to witcher video's every few weeks still good video man i believe this will help out alot of people struggling with the alchemy build. It can be somewat overwhelming at first
Indeed, the game doesnt do a great job explaining the mechanics and potential of alchemy, and how it all comes together. Also i hadnt seen a video which explained everything in detail, so thought id create one myself :)

36:18 From what i remembered this is incorrect. U get the swallow potion by doing the quest for the herbalist in the starting/tutorial region of White Orchard. From what i remember if u dont ask the herbalist whats wrong with the girl in her house u will not unlock this potion formula. I have seen several "let´s players" miss this by not do any optional talking with the herbalist and therefore not have the potion. It´s not even listed in the none crafted potions if u dont talk with her.

Yeah i think that may have been the case, as its such a popular potion for healing, they must have included it as mandatory.

Everything has been nerfed brother. Heightened tolerance has 3 ranks now and caps at 80%. This is the first time I wanted to make an alchemy build and then they do this :(

(January 3rd 2022)- I have played this masterpiece maybe 6 or 7 times completed as close to 100% as I can get, so I’m not new to this game… but let me say… I have never went for an alchemy build and this guide has made me start a new play through in order to do just that. There is one place you can find white gull in the game. During Battle Preparations at Kaer Morhen, if you have Vesemir create potions for the fight, you can loot 6 total in the two chests by the Alchemy station where the potions were being brewed.

Whoa whoa whoa. I beat the entire game and was playing it for like 6 months and have never seen some of the cities. I had the game with all dlc's and never seen the alchemist perfumery city and i had no idea you can have a house. Gwent locked me in bad😂

Arachas decoction is one of the best decoctions, it gives up to 20% dmg reduction based on your inventory weight/capacity. What this means is you can get straight up dmg reduction around 15% making any build a lot tanky. Ekimmara decoction regenerates healt by dealing damage, it also applies to igni's burn dmg so you can almost instant fully heal by burning few enemies.

I've had this game on console since it came out and binge it once a year but the game and all DLC is on sale for like 6 bucks on steam and I just got a PC. I don't know how I used a controller my whole life M&K seems so natural

The devs done a great job on both PC and controller with this one, however as you mention, you definitely get a better response from M&K once you map all those keys properly 🍻

Excellent guide to alchemy in The Witcher 3.
One thing about decoctions to add: There are some decoctions (doppler, succubus and ancient lesher) for which you have only 1 or 2 chances to get the mutagen of that kind of monster.
Mostly "Wanted"-quests on the board, so do not let the monster get away or you will miss out on the decoctions.

In my last video i covered the Doppler and Succubus mutagens as they were related to Contracts where the vast majority of players would feel sorry for the monster and spare them, thus not dropping the mutagen. In hindsight I should have also included the rare Ancient Leshen as you mentioned, there's only a couple of chances to kill it. Thanks for sharing 🍻

I'm brand new to the Witcher games and man is this video helpful! I very recently downloaded W3 and all dlc for $16us. So far it's been absolutely worth it and I'm only getting started. Still so much to look forward to and learn. I've never played a game like this!! Can't wait til I get used to how things work. Just wish there were more hours in the day to play! Imho, from what i got from the game, its worth 10x that minimum.
Hope the guide helps you get the most from the game, really take your time and relish every side quest, dont skip anything.
The only complaint i ever had about the game is that it ended lol, so only being able to play it a few hours a week will at least delay that deeply sad feeling 👍

@@GamerGrade I'm gonna complete every last thing I can. My only complaint thus far really is the swimming and horse riding mechanics . Gonna take some getting used to I guess. I played RDR2 100%+ completion 3 times so I'm used to those controls and handling. Took a very long time. I'm excited to sink my teeth into W3. Gonna be in for the long haul!

With the horse riding i only used a horse to travel longer distances where i could use the main path and utilize the auto follow feature. Otherwise sprinting with Geralt is much better.
Also with swimming i used a mod for PC which gave unlimited oxygen, which completely eliminated the frustration with exploring underwater.
Unlimited sprint was also very helpful, but again, its a mod only for the PC version.

I was slightly upset with the nerf to Alchemy but after getting all the skills it is still one of the most powerful builds you can use and I love the fact that they increase the bomb damage

Once you fully understand the alchemy system, its a game changer 👍
I'd argue refreshment is pointless given how many different ways you have in an alchemy build to heal yourself. Ekhidna and Grave Hag decotions basically invalidate the need for any other healing sources, and white raffard's is a perfect panic button. Those 5 points can instead be put into something like killing spree which boosts your damage to pretty crazy levels if you use it with Thunderbolt, Hunter Instinct and Water Hag or Wyvern decotions. At level 5, as soon as you kill 2 enemies you'll be doing guaranteed crits with 100% critical damage, a 30% damage increase from adrenaline, 35% from Thunderbolt, 50% from Water Hag and as high as you can go with wyvern. That's a dumb amount of damage.

Not far into game. But wish there there had been a glossary, or npc's to ask for locations of rarer plants. Or Gerald writing/ evolving his own glossary. Just general tips would be good- like shadow, near fresh water, near ghouls etc.

I finally got the complete version of the game from gamestop (or got it back I should say, lol, I've bought and, sold it back more than 3 times) and, everytime I've ever started the game this was the most confusing part of it for me. Yes that bug has affected a lot of players, shame the devs never fixed it. Apparently you can download a DLC fix giving you all the diagrams according to some reports.

You are most welcome! Yes on your first play through focus on story, exploration and immersion only. When you play NG+ then you can ramp up the difficulty to Death March, and learn the technicalities to max damage etc.

Great video but a question. In all of your videos (at least on Witcher 3) you always use these great guide charts that are really helpful like about the different bombs, alochol, shops, witcher gear etc. But do you have a website or something where we can find all of these charts in one place? If not could that possibly be your next project because that would be really helpful. Like you could create a google sites or a weebly and then separate the charts into different topics like alchemy, weapons, crafting etc. and then drop the charts there.

The quality doesn't match the sub count, you should at least be at 100k, maybe you don't do it for the views, but I hate to see tremendous content go unnoticed, I see the effort man! In my opinion, the game is no doubt the best game ever made. Be sure to find, complete and enjoy every side quest (they are well worth it) and explore all the small details while traversing the environments before finishing the main story. It really is an experience that deserves your time and attention throughout.

@@GamerGrade True that the stories on the side Quests are actually freaking well written as well, and you some very interesting characters. I make it a habit of going to a town, and then checking the board and running out and doing all the ? on the map. Sometimes it is a surprise when they are extremely higher level. .but thats ok, you can just flag the area with a red skull map marker.. LOL But yeah enjoying the game a bunch. I had just bought a new Computer for Cyberpunk 2077 so my machine is a monster.. and I have to say the world of Witcher is very stunning to the point I just stood and looked around.. I catch myself doing this from time to time.. LOL The clothing and buildings look well researched as well as the speak that they should be saying makes it that evermore immersive. Long time DnD Gamemaster here. so details are everything to me. Thanks again for the video.. it helps a bunch. Subed!

Not sure whether this was just a bug for me, but pay attention to what you loot in the Lambert mission "following the thread". If you kill the bad guy at the end, you can loot items from his body. He has either bombs or potions that can be added to your inventory immediately. However, if you already have better versions of said items, those better versions will be replaced by the ones you just looted. The first time I played the Witcher 3 on the Xbox I noticed at one point that I no longer had the enhanced or superior version of a potion or sword oil (can't remember which one) and I didn't understand why. Then I remembered that I looted the inferior version in the mentioned mission. The only way I could get the better version back was to load a save and redo the last part of the Lambert mission. I'm now playing on the PS4 and after I killed the bad guy, I saw he had two "inferior" bombs. So, be careful not to frantically hit your loot button and loot everything from him (like you'd normally do).

I did notice on a couple of Alchemy items i had two versions, the Enhanced as well as the Superior, which is quite odd as the lower quality one should be replaced. Maybe these bugged ones are given as quest related rewards?
Definitely a few minor bugs remain which will hopefully will be ironed out in the next big patch coming this year 👍
@@GamerGrade You're welcome. That's odd indeed. The inferior ones you have were probably picked up in the mission I mentioned. From what I remember, this is the only mission where you get the actual items, instead of diagrams/ manuscript pages (for obvious reasons, if you know what's the quest about). BTW, I didn't know that there are still patches coming for this game, nice! Or are you talking about the "upgrade for next-gen consoles"? It would be nice if the "The Gangs of Novigrad" quest issues were solved (If you do the casino and arena quests on your own, this quest can not be finished, maybe also due to the fact that I already did the "Of Swords and Dumplings" quest).
This is my all time favorite game. I did a complete play-through and a new game + on the Xbox One. Now I'm back playing it on the PS4 pro. Level 20 and still doing Novigrad quests, so still many hours to go...
PS You make excellent videos. I'm sure they'll help many new (and even veteran) players!

Apart from the next-gen graphical update you mentioned, Im not actually sure what else they plan to include? I think im just hopeful they will also fix those annoying bugs as many players have experienced them, so it makes sense as their pretty much breathing new life into an already timeless classic, may as well perfect the masterpiece! I have my fingers crossed.
