    hey all, I've gotten a few comments saying that the color match looks good on camera...I think that our footage has been a bit overexposed lately (we're working on it) but combined with the bright lighting perhaps some subtlety was lost. In real life, walking around my house, I truly looked like I was wearing 18th century French court makeup. You can see it better at 15:34 when I sit back in my chair and I'm out of the lights a bit. Because I often have redness on the lower half of my face, the pinky-white tone visually "blended in" to the color of my face when I first started applying it, but it's not actually the natural color of my skin. To see what a good color match really looks like on me, check out this video: ua-cam.com/video/1McH9vO8HuI/v-deo.html The RMS foundation looks bright and yellow against my redness when I first start applying it, but when it's blended out it looks truly natural, because that's the color my skin is without redness and irritation.

      I feel you Hannah! As a someone who has pale olive skin with redness darkening the face, when you feel like you're face looks pink is a nightmare. I would throw a tantrum everytime I look at a mirror even if people kept telling me there's nothing wrong. Makeup should make me feel better myself, right? When it comes to foundation match, I really appreciate your point of view. Foundation match is everything.

    Friendly neighborhood chemist comment: the separation/poor performance issues could be due to placing the Patrick Ta foundation, which is very very silicone heavy, on top of the water-oil hybrid YSL primer. Generally, siliconey things only play well with themselves and I don’t think there were any silicones in the YSL primer. If you’re going to play with it again, I’d try maybe the Elf poreless putty primer, which contains some of the same silicones. It may have even felt like it was just sitting on top of your skin instead of melting in for that reason.
    Make up is just like paint. You have to pair the correct primer with a formula that has a similar chemical profile.
    Love your content!

    For whoever needs to hear this: I was actually shocked to find this line had undertones for Native American skin, which NO ONE does. I got Light 4. I’m forty-three, with dry-combo skin. I wore this product, alone, on two days over 110 degrees in my century-old home without AC. It did not melt or cling to dry patches at all and it looked as good when I prepared for bed as it did in the morning. I used my usual Caudalie Vinoperfect moisturizer beneath it, no primer. One day I did not use the powder and the other day I did: success both days. It did not break up around my nose which is my biggest challenge. I’m considering ordering Fair 4 for my Winter shade. :)

    I swear, someone needs to create a brand called "Fringe" and focus on complexion ranges for super fair and super deep skin. I have the same issue you do with products being over saturated. Give me gray! And Jackie Aina has said that deep shades tend to be too red.

      I had to struggle with it to get it to work. One of the commenters said that oil and silicones, which the Ta foundation contains, don't mix, but I put a couple of drops of facial oil on the areas of my face where the makeup looked dry, and it made the foundation go on much better. The face has to be well moisturized. I don't use primers, which can clash with sunscreens and foundation formulas.

  • @elizabethbarrow3801
    @elizabethbarrow3801 Рік тому

    It took me forever to select a shade. I knew the Fair No. 1 shade was too pale and pink. I watched tons of UA-cam reviews and it looked like Fair 2 was still too pale and peachy even though it was supposed to be neutral. I ordered Fair 3, which has golden undertones. It matches my skin well, but may be a tad darker. I haven't checked it outside. As for the way it performs, I found it can be fussy. I don't really have dry skin; however, I need to put extra moisture on the driest parts of my face to prevent a powdery, bunchy look on my skin. That's before powder application. It's also wise to build the foundation up slowly. I barely tap a brush on the surface to pick up a small amount of product. The other day I managed to get the foundation to look great. The next day, there were places on my face where it looked smudgy. I use the powder sparingly. It does smooth over texture pretty well. I do like using it, but it's unpredictable, which is something you really don't want in a foundation. The Wayne Goss foundation is like that too, hit or miss. The best match I've found yet is Mehron Pale Olive 1 mixed with a bit of a lighter shade. Mehron's cream foundations are only $11+. You can get samples on Camera Ready Cosmetics.

    I have yet to see a review where this product worked in the way it was intended. It just doesn’t have the sauce. Undertones leave a lot to be desired, the texture seems to be unforgiving, and for the price, it should be nearly bulletproof. I’m in the market for a balm foundation and I think the Sneaky Balm is going to be the winner.

    I agree with you -- this made you look sickly and elderly, and your skin didn't look like that at all prior to application

    Wow, Hannah, I feel like this video more than anything I've ever seen has made me really understand the importance of matching undertone. The French court is definitely a reference point, and perhaps kinder than 'you actually look like a ghost'. How interesting that seeing a mis-match makes me understand more than seeing a great match.
    By the way, I know in LA you were able to donate a lot of unused or lightly used makeup to women's shelters - is that something you're still able to do in the DC area?

      @mizshellytee Рік тому +1

      You can send unopened (and, in some cases, gently used) makeup to Project Beauty Share if there isn't a shelter local to you that takes makeup donations.

    Those colors are disappointing. I'm your skin twin - pale, pale, pale green - and neither of those colors would remotely work for me. You can definitely see the difference between the color of your face & neck, but maybe mix in that exa corrector? 💚

    I'm always shocked when professional MUAs release shade ranges that are so weird and not inclusive. Like, they of all people should know how important it is to get colors that match a wide range of people

      It's especially disappointing from MUAs and the luxury market in general, but I think the industry standard is to use pre-developed shade ranges rather than designing them from scratch.

    thank you for this 4:43 (can you please add more light to your videos, it's hard to get a good read on your skin tone - even when i blow out light on my mac screen). It looks like i'm 1-4 shades lighter than you so you would be a good comparison if it's your shade or too dark I can't use it. I got excited about the Salt N13.. I thought that meant there were 12 lighter shades. Apparently it starts at darkest (which is really weird.... and doesn't go lighter than 13...so cleary not useable.. n13 is too dark for that ginger they show... they always do that.. sigh)

      @LifeOfCherryJane Рік тому

      @@mizshellytee I actually disagree. Yes it won't be perfect but it'll be a closer match than either alone. Then with the rest of her makeup on one might not be able to tell that the colour is a little off. Especially if worn in the PM.
