Just goes to show you how important perspective is. This is why "the media" and news sites have so much power; they can tell the story from whatever perspective they want.
No Man's Sky has had SEVENTEEN major updates since Internet Historian's video came out. Sean being a technical guy and being absolutely hopeless at PR really worked against him, but breaking down all the complaints into information he could use to prioritise fixes and updates is exactly how a good technical lead would handle feedback. His strengths came through.
No Man's Sky is the equivalent of the: "let the mechanics design the car" type of situation. Sure, maybe they won't be the best at marketing or PR, maybe the first version won't be great, but you give them feedback and they will make that the best damn car you've ever driven.
you say he was hopeless but his pr made the hype he sold the game soo well that the name is more recognisable then a lot of other games that came out in the same time period.
No Man's Sky is one of the most amazing redemption stories in the gaming industry Fun fact: Sean himself went around reccomending and praising this video, only to roll it back *slightly* by warning people to avoid the last ~10 minutes.
I had no idea about your past, or your struggle with cancer until this video and your honest and heartfelt reactions are what finally tipped me over the edge to subscribing. I don't care where you're from or what you did before, anyone who cares this much and this obviously about others, is someone I want to support with all my heart. I know this'll get lost in the thousands of other replies, but I really appreciate your compassion for a total stranger like this. You're a good person.
The kinda funny thing is that your reaction to their team size and price "wasn't it a AAA title?" exactly proved his point that pricetags set expectations and it should have never originally released for 60 bucks (in the state it was in at least)
Alicia: "He's saying exactly the things I'm thinking, he must be a wizard!" Me, having already watched the vid: "She's predicting exactly the things the video will say, she must be a wizard!"
No Man's Sky is such an insane story. Went from literally being the reviled laughing stalk of the video game industry to having a super loyal fanbase and years and years of support from the devs. They literally just put out another big update!
Your reaction to the story itself was fantastic, but the multiple mini rants were the best part. Spent all those times just going "yeah, yeah. Let her cook!" Excellent insight and really enjoyed hearing your perspective.
@@aliciaxdeath Don't feel ashamed for pausing. It's a reaction, and you want to, y'know, REACT! And I personally PREFER when reactors pause it to talk, because they're not talking over the video and potentially missing important info!
@@aliciaxdeath Personally I find your videos more enjoyable to watch, exactly because you pause and don't constantly talk over the content you're currently reacting too. There are way too many people, who talk over whatever they're reacting to, missing half of the important stuff in the process. Hope you have a nice week. Greetings from Germany. o7
The fact that there was an update of nearly 6 GB not even 24 hours ago makes his talk about the game just being constantly worked on that much more real. Followed the typical trek of "bored because of lack of engagement" to "holy shit this is one of my favorite games and I hope it keeps going for as long as they can make it" and it's an experience I'll never forget.
Yup, I played it on release, played for a week or so and gave up for lack of content. I went back to it with 2 friends to do some multiplayer about 6 months ago, and we had an absolute blast. So much more to do now. Setting up bases on resource rich planets, missions, the nexus stuff, the new fleet mechanic. We got about 80 hours out of that playthrough in total. Which is almost 4 times what I got out of it at release. And the best part was that ALL of the updates are free. It sat there collecting dust for a long while, but becuase of the passion of the devs, it was also collecting updates.
For real. The devs turned the one of the absolute biggest disasters of game releases to ever grace this Earth into probably the only successful gaming redemption story in history. I bought the game on launch day and immediately forgot about it, but now my little brother is racking mad hours into the game. I've largely grown up from my gaming, but once in a while I'd come back and just explore around, and marvel at how much the game was transformed.
NGL, the reaction you had to the fanfic gave me life. Fun fact: Sean himself recommended the vid...while also saying to avoid the last few minutes or something.
They literally released an update a few days ago, the amount of love and passion they put into this game is amazing. Oh yeah, and something personal - that dovetail games Train Simulator callout was hilarious - and I'm a railfan. That simulator is literally just microtransactions - the game. I'm more of a TRAINZ user myself.
@QuantumRealm Probably have to wait a few days for fixes to whatever the update has broken (it's usually something to do with Frigates and/or the Nexus).
It is so fascinating that Alicia was able to connect the dots and figure out the story before IH even got to the part. 1:11:25 I love you can see her face go from calm to shock to disgust in like a second
I still regret getting sucked into the hypetrain and going against my gut when this game came out. That regret was compounded by the fact that I was among those who frowned at the devs without understanding their story. This video, out of *everything* Internet Historian has made, is the one most precious to me. It showed me that not every disaster is because of greed or hate or malice. Sometimes its just a series of circumstances spiralling out of control. And, sometimes, the people involved actively try to make things better. God bless the folks at Hello games.
@@2yoyoyo1Unplugged I did. That's what I meant by giving in to the hype. And to be honest, I loved the feeling of being the first to discover something, of getting to name a planet, its wildlife, its plants. But when I realized how limited it was, I turned my nose up like countless others did. Hence the second part of my original comment.
Just a note, Tom Clancy games are NOT made in any way, shape, or form by Tom Clancy. He was an author that dealt very heavily in espionage and military based fiction and sold rights to his titles for games to be made. He passed October 1st, 2013. Rest in peace, king.
I don’t think the games are really adapted from his books either. At least I don’t recall Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon being books. Just Rainbow Six, even then the original book seemed quite different.
@@PolymurExcel you're pretty well spot on, the original intent was to adapt more of his work though. Because Ubisoft had the rights to use Clancy's name, they ended up just tacking it onto other projects they were working on (Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell, etc). Only two projects ended up being (loosely) based on his books, Rainbow Six and Sum Of All Fears.
@@HaveAPieceOfFishOY from what little I remember of book, the canceled Rainbow 6 Patriots would have been the closest to a faithful retelling...what we could of had.
If you are interested in hearing more of the story, Sean Murray did a nice presentation at GDC about his experience a few years after release when the game was in a much better state. He sounds so much more natural and confident at public speaking with all that pressure off his shoulders. It’s a pretty great presentation.
Man can I just say, as someone completely new to you and your content, your takes on journalism and the gaming space were just so spot on imo. On top of you having an amazing personality and what I’m learning is an incredible legacy that those journalists should absolutely have focused on. Subscribed!
Imma just rack it up to him being the perfect story teller tbh though I did feel pretty cool, haha! cause they way he answered the questions or thoughts I had as I had them was SOOOOO satisfying haha
In Hello Games’s defense, when a major studio backs you, they control when you release. Microsoft almost voted to release the unfinished version of Halo 2, and the only reason Bungie got an extra year to finish it was because the head of Microsoft Studios threatened to resign if Bungie didn’t get an extra year
47:18 The unopened bottle of celebratory champagne always gets me. It really shows just how bad they felt about the launch and how dedicated they were that they didn’t even take a moment to revel in the fact that they launched a AAA game(although a bad one) like many other studios would have.
thank you, its so rare to come across someone who acknowledge and made effort to help men who were assaulted. especially here in SEA, Im glad that atleast there are people like you out there who does care and is doing something to help. Its super hard as a man myself to speak out about such issue since nobody here took us seriously. I'll stay hopeful for a better tomorrow where everyone is actually equal and protected
this is the second video of yours I've watched, and the first time I'm learning about who you are and what you do. I'm glad to hear that your recovery is going well, and I'm so so sorry for the bullshit that gaming journalism put you through. your personality shines bright and I am so grateful I came across your content. you're a lot of fun, and you're very insightful, and I wasn't expecting all these in depth takes about the gaming industry in this reaction video but I am so glad for everything you clued me into. thank you for what you do. keep shining, you beautiful diamond.
:D AHHH thank you so much! ❤ I’m so happy the UA-cam algorithm gods sent ya here. Welcome to the channel and I hope I can keep bringing fun and insight
@@aliciaxdeath yeah Internet Historian Videos are great for the algorithm :D thats how I got here as well. Definitely gonna stick around. but also, watch more Internet Historian :D "The Fall of 76" is a good one as well
@@aliciaxdeath Keep up the good fight! You're amazing! And yeah you throw a dart at IH's catalog and you'll hit something hilariously gold. I recommend Man In Cave or Serious Business
This was a fantastic reaction, you provided more to the video than just nodding along and agreeing but instead gave actual additional content, and I can hear and feel the emotion behind it all. In short, this was an amazing reaction, one that others should use as an example of what a true reaction is.
1:19:31 giving people a timeline after promising the fixes would have set even more expectations which was the exact same problem that got them into that mess. I think they should have given updates on the patches as they happened in development instead of complete silence but maybe that would have caused other problems I didn't think about.
I think the updates on the patch progress would have been called more lies and demand proof, thus giving Sean two options: release the patch early with fewer features/bug fixes, resulting in the gaming press calling it a rush job/ lip service patch, and ending in more bad PR. Or not releasing the patch early, feeding the argument that Sean is a liar, and ending in more bad PR. So imo, the complete radio silence and releasing new updates only when the devs are sure they're ready was the right call.
Considering their position after the release i think it was a smart move to stay silent and let the fans warm back up to Hello games through their actions. Not only would it highlight that they haven't abandoned the game but show their sincerity, and most importantly effort of fixing their mistakes. It's understanable if their are people who still wouldn't go back to NMS aftert the debacle and still see Sean as just a scummy scam artist. But no one can deny, that they actually gave effort in fixing their game and not just be up their own asses. A sentiment that even big triple A studios fail to do still.
nah, complete silence was the way to go. People get hipped for anything and it's annoying. Now(after all that) they are still releasing new content for free and the game is awesome.
I normally don’t care for reaction/commentary channels since I find them usually a cheap gimmick to ride others successes. But your personal touch is actually so warning and welcomed. You just talk to the audience more like a close friend then an audience, and even your storytelling about your experiences in the gaming industry is so insightful to listen to. Genuinely someone I’d actually wanna sit down and play some games with. Thanks for the content and here is to hopefully reaching 20K! ❤
I think we're on the 16th update with the lastest one being yesterday. It's honestly one of the best comeback stories in gaming history. Your reaction perfectly encapsulated the rollercoaster of emotions I felt throughout its development.
To answer your questions, the last major update was literally today, about 10 hours before you posted your video. It added new enemies, something about monuments, massive enemy capital ships that you can engage in combat with along with other improvements to performance, visuals and VR. There’s been about 17ish major updates with titles since internet historian video (I think that’s not including the limited time expeditions) Edit: Oh and the trailer released for the update is just gameplay and probably looks more amazing than the e3 trailer that everyone got overhyped for. It’s the interceptor update trailer if you’re interested
The difference between treating a game as a source revenue that you don't otherwise care for and treating a game as a work of art that you are passionate about, ironically with the latter always being more profitable than the former.
I nearly had a heart attack when you said you had cancer. I was like "oh my God, I just discovered this girl. She can't die already! No!" I'm so glad your treatment is working.
The number of big updates for NMS has actually more than doubled since the time this video came out, theres a whole lot more to do in the game than even Interent Historian talked about
I feel you pain when I comes to game journalism. My dad was a public affairs officer in the US Air Force, the crap he had to deal with journalists of similar methods is some of the reasons why he has PTSD! 😆
Oh my god, I really want to see more of your reactions. Is not so common to see a reaction video where the commentary is so insightful and entertaining at the same time. Also really like the aiming at good vibes mentality, the world is pretty bad as it is, so why not try to see the good things? This kind of content is somenthing that I really need, thank you Alicia
thank you for writing such a sweet comment. I'm so happy to be able to make these videos and to connect with others :D hope to keep making loads of videos for a looooong time
_Wow._ This was an amazing video, and I don't mean Internet Historian's (I mean, _it is,_ but I've watched it dozens of times already). This was basically 90 minutes of you being on the same exact wavelength as Mr. Historian *and I was here for it.* All of the tangents were extremely interesting too: as someone who really isn't into Esports and knew next to nothing of your career beside a few mentions in passing in your other videos, it was a real treat to hear about your own experiences and legacy, and how you related to Sean and co. and the hardships they went through. Mad respect for everything you accomplished. Btw, fun fact: Sean himself watched that video, and posted on Twitter about it imploring people to not watch the last part... If listening to it was painful for you, imagine the people at Hello Games xD
Your commentary matching up to what was later said in the video was hilarious! The spooky thing wasn't how you both thought about the same things, but that you could see so many of Sean's experiences in your own life. Maybe you were rambling or maybe you weren't, but having already seen the video I was just as interested in the parallels in your life as I was about hearing Sean's story. And this is only like the 4th video of you I've seen!
The internet historian video where he talks about fallout 76 and YIIK is great too Also the Jontron video about weird dating shows is a funny watch as well
Oh and if you can please do a reaction to Maxor's ace combat zero and Ace combat 7 videos lol sorry for asking for this every video XD I just love ace combat and its lore, music ect
^ This ^ For NMS It was going from He's A Dickhead to; Oh this poor bean baby! The coverage on Fallout 76 by Internet Historian was a masterpiece. Anybody's reaction to it is absolutely amazing, but it would be a Wildly different video. Like that reaction to Concordia.
@@Lornext Until she watched the video, yeah. Hell, the first half of the video is set up to invoke that reaction if the viewer didn't know what happened. Like Alicia. Until she watched the video.
@@Lornext Yeah, everybody was shitting on Sean in the beginning of the video. That's the point. And then you find out the whole story, and then you come around to respecting and sympathizing with him.
@@Lornext I also was shitting on Sean first time I saw the historian video. And I still find myself disappointed at some of the things he done shown in the first half of the video. That's like the point of the video, it shows two sides of the story for a full experience in world with no black and white
It mirrors the experience people had with NMS, Hello Games and Sean, I was one of the people who didn't get hyped and didn't even really get why there was so much hype, didn't buy the game at launch but saw the absolute dumpster fire it was at launch, laughed at it and was convinced that they took the money and ran. Even before the release of Next, I was still shitting on the game because I knew that they wouldn't be able to fix a fundamentally broken game because of the absolute overhaul it would require and was convinced that people who were hyped up about Next and Beyond were just full of copium. Until I realized that I was utterly wrong and HG had done what I thought was impossible. Then I bought the game. Being wrong and having to eat my words never felt so good.
Alicia I'd like to say that what you said about journalism in the second half of the video was absolutely based (sorry for the zoomer vocabulary, but I really mean it and that's the best word I know to describe how correct you are)
Oh you really can't get enough of Internet Historian. The content is like a chef's kiss, your reaction to it is like icing on top. 28:50 when I saw her say that I was so excited for her to see further in the vid.
So glad I found this channel, it's always amazing to see someone with experience reacting to gaming stories. Love your persona and please do keep it up!
Honestly, the fact you personally relate to Sean's situation at least to some extent, really made this reaction far more unique and engaging! Thanks for sharing, and keep up the great work as always!
I will always remember the time when I met someone from Hello Games at a job fair, this was after the hate from No Man's Sky had died down but before the first major content update, he was mostly talking about work the studio did for other projects and there was a TV showing Joe Danger gameplay, when he said he worked for Hello Games I said "Oh yeah, you guys made No Man's Sky, what was that like?" I could see the colour fade from his face immediately
Your explanation of yourself makes so much more sense as to why I enjoy listening to your vids. Passion and former professional commentator.....also a proper amount of caffeine lol
I give you a lot of respect for saying that men can be assalted the idea that men never can have any bad thing happen to them (rape/stuff in that ballpark) makes me sick i have a friend who was raped and everyone even some of our(mine and my friends)friends were like "oh i bet you loved it" i always hated that and said to them it doesnt matter if he felt physical pleasure he didn't want to have sex that's all that matters. Love the video
That’s exactly what they said to one of the victims I was helping. That and just flat out people saying that men can’t be r* was insane. People should be cared about and some people can be cruel regardless of their gender so it’s important to care and protect each other. Wishing the best to your friend
@@aliciaxdeath Such a good take By helping Male victims you help female victims Yes on a scale this stuff happens to women more, but that does not negate the fact that it does happen to men Women struggle to be believed I cant Imagine how hard it is for men . So I am happy to see that there are people advocating for equal help for EVERYONE who is a victim of such abhorrent crimes So thank you.
As annoyed as I was by the long tangents you went on in this video, I still listened to all of it, and your opinions and respect for all those in the gaming community have earned my own respect, and thus, a subscription. :) Also, good luck with your cancer treatment! Glad to hear it's working out so far! I'll be praying that you are able to make a full recovery!
Your insight into the world of game development, media, and just overall how many times you were able to call out something IH was about to talk about was great!
I'm glad you enjoyed the video Aliciax. There's 2 other Internet Historian videos that you might be interested in. The Fall of 76 & the Zone between Area 50 and 52. Internet Historian has another channel called Incognito Mode. Theres two videos called the Swedish Job & the Gentleman Pirate which are a retelling of events that happened but in his own way
Most recent update was fractal, which helped with inventory management even more among other goodies. They even announced a new one coming in the future a few days ago.
Amazing. First video, I became a fan just some 10 minutes into the video for the absolute vibes, after the video, I found an incredibly delightful happy bean to follow, I'm smashing and melee'ing the subscribe button and bell so hard right now. You made me a happy bean too.
Glad you're checking out more of IH's stuff. I love the way he tells this story from the public's side then goes back and re-tells it from behind the scenes. It's fun watching people's reactions and how their perception changes when they realise what actually went down. "That zone between 50 and 52" probably get's my vote for next as it has some great editing, or "My Immortal" which is a dramatic reading of a really bazar emo harry potter fan fiction, but there's a nice back library of entertaining video's and you can't really go wrong. Keep up the great content, I love your overall positivity!
Man, I still remember one of the game awards, I believe it was 2020-2021? The Award was something like, "best online game that continues to update" or something about, there was Among us, Fortnite and massive games that update constantly, then, there was No Man's Sky Next. Sean Murray was on a call on the event as it wasn't on stage, with the others Devs for the games nominated. They pan out of the Dev's views, to announce the winner. Sean gets out a beer and starts drinking, at that moment in time No Man's Sky was barely on it's comeback. 'Next' Wins. Over all the others. You can see the actual surprise on the dude's face as he lays down the beer from his mouth. For me, I really still think about that moment. I think at some point he nearly cried but I can remember it for sure. Should really watch that again, it was pretty nice
Oh my god, I've watched a couple of your reactions now and never knew you were battling cancer, my heart literally dropped when I heard that. Thanks for the reaction to the Engoodening of No Man's Sky, but most importantly I hope you get through and win and get better soon Alicia.
The division on release (including the beta) was amazing cuz there was no meta or no game breaking gear combos yet. So everything was new and somewhat balanced. That multiplayer and getting a whole server together to hunt down one rogue team. It was beautiful
Seeing Alicia get this tilted over it is both gratifying and tilting. Because shes right, this is messed up, though not exactly as it seems either But also almost all her questions get answered *in* the video. Sometimes in the very line she interrupted to pause. And didnt rewind. So theres elements missed
Yes. I find it grating how she pauses every 5 seconds or every other sentence in the video then acts surprised at what she just said is covered. Just watch the video and then give your thoughts on it after you've watched for a bit. There's no need to pause it every other second.
@@Ragedaonenlonely It's a reaction video. Better than just saying "Wow/That's crazy!" with everything that happened in the video. If you want that, just watch the original video instead of watching the reactors.
@@unknownguyindo4356 Pausing every 5 seconds like that isn't reacting to the video. It's reacting to tiny snippets of it which just leads to you reiterating points that are already covered in the video instead of reacting to it as a whole. It's like only looking at half of a painting while critiquing art. You're not getting the full experience cutting it into pieces like that.
@@Ragedaonenlonely No, it's more like going from top to bottom on a painting, looking over the details. It's better than just to see Mona Lisa for ten seconds and say "wow that's cool"
@@leritykay8911 It's like looking at the bottom part and going "nice painting, would be cool if she was smiling though" before looking up and realizing that yes, she in fact was. If you had just given it a second longer to get there first, thus making the whole comment void.
A lot of other tubers do so, but I still like watching people react to “Ididathing’s” dry Aussie humor. A great opening vid (and imo one of his best) is making the gun hammer, but I also have a soft spot of him rating all of the animals in his backyard (he’s from Australia, so lot of unique animals)
I was randomly recommended your channel and this was the second video I've seen from you. I had no idea who was actually behind the avatar, so this video was very eye opening for me. That's terrible to hear what you had to go through and I am really glad that things are better! I really loved your insights and parallels with the video, I've seen the video itself before, but your commentary added so much that I watched this whole thing in one sitting. Looking forward to more of your react content, and the best of luck to you in the future!
I love the evolution of how Alicia reacted to the game throughout the video. Been a fan of the game since day one. Got my physical CE still. They've added so many updates since then and even since IH's video there's been tons of updates, my favorite being them adding the players ship from mass effect. I love this game and I'd love to watch you play it whether you do it live or not. Great reaction as always. ❤
This is Internet Historians greatest work IMO, the first half is working the viewer up into an angry frenzy and then showing the context and very human story in the second, making us reconcile between indignant rage and dogged inspiration.
I'm relatively new to your channel, didn't know who you were prior but I've come back over time and enjoy your vibe and just very sweet atmosphere you make in these videos. It broke my heart to hear that you're battling cancer, but I'm super happy to also hear that the treatment is working. I pray that it gets wiped out completely with no surgeries needed. God bless you, Alicia :)
So refreshing to have someone actually *in* the industry giving commentary to this situation. Also they literally just released another update earlier this week
Man i still get so emotional when watching this. put together so well. this legtimately changed my whole view on dev work and to not immediately go into the ''stupid lazy devs'' route. Like i never did before, but theres always a reason for things, not always the 1st negative thing you can imagine.
Someone probably already told you that, but your model is BEAUTIFUL. It looks like one of those very beautiful and expensive dolls from before 2010, and the way it captures the expressions is really good.
To answer your question about the Cyberpunk release. I'm a PC player and I played the game starting release day and there were a good number of bugs, but not enough to cause any serious gripes from me. The large majority of the issues were on the previous gen and next consoles where CDPR weren't able to fully finish the porting of the game to those platforms. For me, as a PC player, we were getting regular updates within weeks of release to fix major bugs and by the six month mark, it was a perfectly stable game I had played mulitple times. It wasn't until then CDPR started working steadily on the patches and updates for the consoles. In comparison, I also was a release day player of NMS and by the first week I was done playing it and got tired of it. At least until the new updates started releasing months later.
No Man’s Sky is ABSOLUTELY worth picking up again. It has come so far, and is such an amazing game to experience and play now Edit: 8 years after release and they’re STILL pumping out free updates. Just in this past couple of weeks, they’ve added ship creation!!
Man, every time I see this video. I just can't help but cry. Anyways, great video! You can see the journey you have in your opinion of Sean as the story goes on. Have a nice day!
Just found your channel and I love this style of videos. You seem like a really genuine person and I really admire your openness and vulnerability. You've earned another long time sub 🤘
Man they had like 8 big updates since the internet historian video came out. They have combat mechs biological ships and all sorts of cool stuff now. You can now create your own town and build it up.
I've watched so many reactions to this video and it's always great every single time when it goes from "This guy is a dickhead" to "Awwh you poor thing" so fast haha.
I'm from Brazil so I probably never heard you commenting on e-sport but I loved your video! I like how every time the game updates, more people watches this video. I wish all the good things for you!
I don't really know, but I suspect NMS being full price (with the occasional sale) is what helps the 26 devs in that studio to keep releasing new updates for free and with zero microtransactions, while also being able to fund their other projects, like The Last Campfire and an untitled big project Murray said they are working on.
I love how you went in expecting another Schettino from Concordia story and you instead got a redemption arc. Never played No Man's Sky, but I routinely see it going on 50% discounts, so if you ever decide to get it again, I'd advise waiting a sale. 1:26:10 Internet Historian made a video on Fallout 76 too. I think other great videos from him are the "man in a hole" video and the one about a raid on area 51 or something like that.
Hearing you support men and advocate for men was really nice to hear. My mother and physically and sexually abused me from the age of 12 to 19 when I left to join the military and get away from it. Her and my dad got a divorce and she get full custody and thats how it started. For a good few years I tried telling people. No one cared so I just gave up and dealt with it. I'm 36 years old now and I never talk about it anymore because I'm either laughed at or not taken seriously or I get stupid questions like "well was she hot". I'm doing okay now but there's somebody young men out there that need support that simply aren't getting it. There are so many men that are being very seriously abused and nothing is being done to help them. Thank you so much for supporting men in bringing a bit of light to that.
my favorite thing about this video is that no matter when someone makes a reaction of it you can go into the comments and find people talking about how they added another update recently.
This is top notch reaction content; a caring and charismatic person, watching a video about a subject they don't know specifically, but have personal experience from the area to expand on the story being told. Honest and genuine reactions, from a kind soul. Keep on being awesome, regardless what life throws your way!
This was great. Especially given that you were so informed on the industry which I didn't know. You were basically the perfect audience for this knowing just enough about video games but not the specifics of this game. Since you asked for more video recs here are some of stuff I think is entertaining and you might like You already know about Max0r and Internet Historaian but I still recommend the HWNDU series from Internet Historian and the Elden Ring review(s) from Max0r. JonTron. Does videos about everything kinda. His Flextape videos are probably the best starting point SsethTzeentach. Does very niche video game reviews in an entertaining way. His Space Station 13 review is great.
Love your style and commentary. Since the last update mentioned in the video, the following updates have been released: - living ship - exo mech - cross play - desolation - origins - Halloween update - next generation - companions - expedition - beachhead - prisms - frontiers - cartographer - emergence - sentinel - outlaws - leviathan - endurance - launch on the Nintendo switch - way point - holiday update 2022 - fractal - interceptor With the most recent coming out just over a week ago, so ya they are still working on the game. Love the sappy near ending, but the erotica ending is more Internet Historian's style
Just started the video and as you mention being in on the day one hype, disappointment, and seeing just him doing the interviews and wondering if it's vanity.. This is going to be a wonderful journey to watch you go on! ❤
btw, there have been SEVENTEEN updates to No Man's Sky since that video came out. After Synthesis, they released Living Ship, Exo Mech, Desolation, Origins, Next Generation, Companions, Expeditions, Prisms, Fronteirs, Sentinel, Outlaws, Endurance, Waypoint, the Nintendo Switch release, Fractal, Interceptor and the most recent update, Echoes, which came out just this past August. And the price of the game hasn't gone up.

Watching Alicia shift from "He's a dickhead" to sincere sympathy and cheering for Sean and the team is so wholesome
its one of those _pat the kitty with the hateboner, that just calmed down and feels sorry_ -moment
SEVENTEEN? there's probably been another sjnce yoh commented! Oh my god
you say he was hopeless but his pr made the hype he sold the game soo well that the name is more recognisable then a lot of other games that came out in the same time period.
25 (named) UPDATES since launch. Good God almighty. That's around 3 per year; about as many Marvel productions in a year.
@@si2fooNot all PR is good PR but Sean made it work.
No Man's Sky is one of the most amazing redemption stories in the gaming industry
Fun fact:
Sean himself went around reccomending and praising this video, only to roll it back *slightly* by warning people to avoid the last ~10 minutes.

Your reaction to the story itself was fantastic, but the multiple mini rants were the best part. Spent all those times just going "yeah, yeah. Let her cook!" Excellent insight and really enjoyed hearing your perspective.
It’s so awesome to feel supported for just being me. I’m such a pausing Andy haha so it feels great to see people be cool with that!
Not to mention them doing these updates for free instead of charging and making them paid DLC like a lot of other game developing companies would.
NGL, the reaction you had to the fanfic gave me life.
Fun fact: Sean himself recommended the vid...while also saying to avoid the last few minutes or something.

PTSD kicking in hard hahahah
I still regret getting sucked into the hypetrain and going against my gut when this game came out. That regret was compounded by the fact that I was among those who frowned at the devs without understanding their story.
This video, out of *everything* Internet Historian has made, is the one most precious to me. It showed me that not every disaster is because of greed or hate or malice. Sometimes its just a series of circumstances spiralling out of control. And, sometimes, the people involved actively try to make things better. God bless the folks at Hello games.
Certainly an important lesson. Hanlon's Razor: "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity."
It's honestly had a strong influence on how I look at the world.
Did you give the game a chance?
@@2yoyoyo1Unplugged I did. That's what I meant by giving in to the hype. And to be honest, I loved the feeling of being the first to discover something, of getting to name a planet, its wildlife, its plants. But when I realized how limited it was, I turned my nose up like countless others did. Hence the second part of my original comment.
This is why the phrase "Can they pull a No Mans Sky" when a game launches bad is now a thing. A standard was set.

To answer your questions, the last major update was literally today, about 10 hours before you posted your video. It added new enemies, something about monuments, massive enemy capital ships that you can engage in combat with along with other improvements to performance, visuals and VR. There’s been about 17ish major updates with titles since internet historian video (I think that’s not including the limited time expeditions)

No Man's Sky is 7 years old and we still get good updates like every 4-6 months. Sean and his team just don't stop.
So refreshing to have someone actually *in* the industry giving commentary to this situation. Also they literally just released another update earlier this week
"Underwater stuff is so scary!"
Now the tiny sadist in me really wants to see you play Subnautica. XD
Hey Alicia! God has smiled on me today! Made it to the video 12 seconds after upload! Loving all of the uploads, UA-cam and Patreon!
12 seconds? bet your girfriend is screaming "new record!!"
in all seriousness.....phrasing
YES YES YES so happy your reacting to this.
No Man’s Sky is ABSOLUTELY worth picking up again. It has come so far, and is such an amazing game to experience and play now
Edit: 8 years after release and they’re STILL pumping out free updates. Just in this past couple of weeks, they’ve added ship creation!!
Woohooo!!! im so glad youre continuing with his channel!
I like how passionate you are about games!
My favorite video from Internet Historian. Your input was so good to listen to throughout the video
"Like their TEATS are COW'S filled with MILK"
Sometimes I really just be saying stuff without thinking LOLOL
Since you asked for more video recs here are some of stuff I think is entertaining and you might like
You already know about Max0r and Internet Historaian but I still recommend the HWNDU series from Internet Historian and the Elden Ring review(s) from Max0r.
JonTron. Does videos about everything kinda. His Flextape videos are probably the best starting point
SsethTzeentach. Does very niche video game reviews in an entertaining way. His Space Station 13 review is great.
Love your style and commentary.
Since the last update mentioned in the video, the following updates have been released:
- living ship
- exo mech
- cross play
- desolation
- origins
- Halloween update
- next generation
- companions
- expedition
- beachhead
- prisms
- frontiers
- cartographer
- emergence
- sentinel
- outlaws
- leviathan
- endurance
- launch on the Nintendo switch
- way point
- holiday update 2022
- fractal
- interceptor
With the most recent coming out just over a week ago, so ya they are still working on the game.
Love the sappy near ending, but the erotica ending is more Internet Historian's style
Just started the video and as you mention being in on the day one hype, disappointment, and seeing just him doing the interviews and wondering if it's vanity..
This is going to be a wonderful journey to watch you go on! ❤
Then you find out it's not as malicious as it seemed.
btw, there have been SEVENTEEN updates to No Man's Sky since that video came out.
