Some tank killing tanks were meant to be stealthy too. Remember tank refers to gun+tracked carriage, so a Marder that "protects" the crew with a few thin metal slats is still a "tank" And so is the single man Italian CV35 "toddler tank" with the dinky cannon. They are meant to park in bushes and shoot other tanks point blank! You sneak up and as Mighty Jingles puts it "give them the surprise buttsex" by shooting the fuel drum or ammo compartment The CV line was quieter than standard Autoblinda/Puma armoured cars, even! So you could even sneak up on a loudly yapping/smoking infantry platoon
"His friends are actually so precious and cute." Dude, agreed xD The chemistry that Internet Historian and his crazy collaborators have is at least half of the charm. They always seem like they're having a lot of fun.
I've been in Mammoth Cave (though not anywhere near Sand Cave), and at one point during the tour, they do actually turn off the lights for a few minutes to demonstrate just how unbelievably dark it is. It is very beautiful, though, when they have the lights on.
Well, tank battles are taken at lonng range, and artillery needs signs of the enemy like sounds or exhaust smoke to approximate their location. So if your tank is hidden by some brushes and you wait for juuuust the right time to take a shot, then yes you can use stealth.
As someone from Louisville I loved this video talking about something I was taught from my grandparents as a kid, and I love to see people's reaction to Floyd's story. It is probably one of the saddest, but also inspiring stories to come out of Kentucky. Side note it is a little funny to me that you posted this the day before the Derby, the other major thing that Kentucky is known for
I chuckled at the suggestion at 23:13 knowing what was coming up less than 3 minutes later at 26:05 😄 I have to say, I've become a big fan of your reaction videos here. You're funny and energetic and I love hearing the stories you share along the way as well. You make the content even more enjoyable with your take on things. I'm happy to have found your channel and subscribed! Thanks for the videos and spending the time with us!
This , in my opinion, is Internet Historian's magnum opus. Not only is it proof that he can do more than just comedic videos, but the story is so well researched and dramatically told that it captivates you from beginning to end. And while the story is tragic, mostly caused by onlookers who weren't helping making the situation worse. Floyd's brother , Miller and Gerald were the MVPs tho Floyd's brother wanted to help him, even after his death. Even though the most he could do at that point was give him a proper burial Miller came for the story, but actually wanted to help. And you could argue that its him reporting the story that we know about it at all. And Gerald was a straight up GIGACHAD, he nearly got Floyd out all on his own.
It's very emotional. I actually live within 15 miles of Sand Cave. Floyd set a very strong sentiment of Cave Safety that pervades to this day. The NPS has done a lot to help protect the environment and keep people safe.
I'm obligated to tell you that I did indeed laugh, and it was for the "get his rocks off" joke! Not only am I a sucker for a well placed pun, it also tickles me in general when you follow up any joke with the "Eh? Eh?" :D

9:22 It very much depends on the tank, but yes, you can be stealthy with a tank. The Canadian armed forces nicknamed America’s M1 Abrams “Whispering Death” because of how shockingly quiet it could be when moving.
So glad you finally got to see this one. I've seen several people who have wanted to react to it, but either couldn't find it (at least not an official upload from IH) or were worried about getting hit with a copyright strike if they reacted to one of the unofficial re-uploads. It might have a bittersweet tone to it, but I really do think this is probably one of the best videos IH has ever made. I love all the creativity and innovation on display from the people who were trying to rescue him. It's just a good reminder (and one I think we could use now and then) that people in the past weren't a bunch of clueless simpletons as they can often be depicted in modern media and pop culture. The people of the past might not have known as much about the world around them as we do or had all of the technology that we have now, but people were absolutely just as capable of adapting and innovating to solve problems as they are now. Hell, we wouldn't even HAVE the knowledge and technology that we do in modern day if people hadn't spent thousands of years improving on what the generations before them created while also coming up with new ideas of their own. As a side note, I also can't help but appreciate that, when many would have given up after the cave-ins, this crew's reaction was "The hole is gone? Well fine then, if that's how the cave wants to play: DIGGY DIGGY HOLE!" True Dwarves, the lot of them. Another IH video I'd really suggest is The Fall of 76, featuring the many shenanigans involved with the release of Fallout 76. If you're interested in things like this that lean towards a more serious side then I'd also check out the guy who played Floyd here, Wendigoon. His videos aren't comedy-driven like IH's are, but he covers a lot of topics regarding mysteries, tragedies, and conspiracies ranging from actual historical incidents (such as the lost Franklin expedition) to diving into the history and lore of fictional works (like the Mandela Catalogue). Though as a warning, some of his videos cover things like true crime (which can get pretty dark and grisly), so if you feel like checking out his work but you're also kind of squeamish I'd avoid the ones covering those subjects. Thankfully, at least based on what I've seen, he tends to put warnings in the title if the video contains particularly sensitive content.
I'm happy you're enjoying Internet Historian so much, and love seeing your reactions to it! With your interest and history with gaming, you would probably also like The Fall of 76 by IH, especially with how good your reaction was to his No Man's Sky video 😊

I was laughing when you suggested the contortionist knowing what would come up later! As for suggestions if you want more Internet Historian and co "the Gentleman Pirate" is in a similar style to this a dramatized true story and is really entertaining. If you want something totally different try "What the Internet did to Garfield" by Super Eyepatch Wolf although maybe that one is best saved till Halloween.
It's been so long since I watched the original I genuinely forgot about what fully was said line for line in the original so I didn't even realize it had been altered, I need to find something that lists all the differences
‘Why would you?…” Same reason ‘why” we Sailed the Widest, harshest seas in wooden boats. Same reason ‘why” we Climbed the tallest and most inhospitable Mountains. Same reason ‘why” we took to the skies in balloons and canvas wings. Same reason ‘why” we launched ourselves into space strapped to Rockets. It’s our Nature, the ever present drive to further our limits, forever pushing the Natural barriers that say ‘no you can’t”, and yelling back ‘Try and Stop Me!”
Interesting thing about your thoughts on the media's influence on incidents like this around the 1:12:00 mark, actually. There's quite a few modern examples, including several cave-ins in other countries, where because of the technology we have in this Information Age, the right people in the right professions found out about these cave-ins a lot sooner than the people in Floyd's story. I don't remember the exact country or how long it took, but I remember watching a documentary a few months back about a whole team of miners trapped in a gargantuan, total-mineshaft collapse a while back, and because news spread about it within the hour, they had hundreds of millions of dollars in manpower and equipment ready and available to dig and excavate an escape route over the days they were trapped. Granted, the one I remember looking into had many complications regarding several different mineral pockets, additional cave-ins and almost completely cut-off oxygen to where the miners were trapped, and so it still wasn't an easy or quick rescue, but the people with the right ideas were able to get on the scene much sooner thanks to the media and spread of information.
At least this guy has the bragging rights he had the most interesting life after death. Imagine passing away in a cave, being taken out of the cave, being returned to that cave as a tourist attraction, having your body stolen and tried to be thrown into a river just to land in a bush, then being chain up in that cave before 60+ years later being properly laid to rest.
That was incredible. Thank you for this video. As a bad joke enjoyer I'm glad to hear a fellow comedian. Your bad jokes are amazing. Keep up the good work.
Been loving your reactions to Internet Historian! Another great and hilarious creator worth reacting too is Michael Reeves my suggestions would be “I built a surgery robot” “The roomba that screams when it bumps into stuff” “Teaching a robot dog to piss beer” “I taught my goldfish to buy stocks” and “A robot teaches me to box”. Glad you’re feeling a bit better too!
9:10 - As an answer to your question, yes, you can indeed, be stealthy with a tank. You just need to think about what stealth means. It means to not be noticed by the enemy before you shoot them. So to do this with a tank, just stay in cover and fire from long range where it's hard for the enemies at a distance to notice you immediately. Such as behind a group of trees that obscure your chunky tank shape rather than right smack dab in the middle of an open field.
Not only am I glad its back, but that you enjoyed it in the end. It's wild that a story from about 100 years ago can still capture our attention like it did for the people while it was going on.
Hell yeah! Loved this video! Caving disaster stories are some of my favorite kinds of content to watch because there's always a lesson to be learned from them (aside from not doing it if you're underprepared lol). There's also a lot of science behind every incident, especially freak ones. If you're willing to react to some more of these kinds of things, I highly suggest the ones at Scary Interesting. Not only does he do caving disaster stories but also diving (which are, in my opinion, more harrowing. I have a fear of drowning) and mountain climbing stories narrated in a style that can be consumed through purely the audio. Great reaction! Love that you're really animated when giving your words. Looking forward for more.
honestly Wendigoon (the guy in the cave) makes great content. anything in his weird history playlist would be a good watch. i suggest his video on the Acali Raft
The sad part is that the rope pull could have works if they had set up a pulley on the wall behind Lloyd’s head allowing for a horizontal pull instead of a vertical one.
Remember about Floyd's dream of making his Sand Cave a tourist attraction? Technically, his dream became reality but in an ironic twist, *he* is the *Main Tourist Attraction.*
1:02:55 "He would go on to murder his girlfriend, Verna Taylor. He's brought to trial, but results in a hung jury. Before he retrial Verna's brothers tracked him down and shot him to death. They were all acquitted."
I went caving once. It was a very interesting cave. VERY DARK! And the entrance required crawling. ... Five years later, the cave got blown up and closed down because some guy got stuck for days and died in a place I crawled through.
Yo you are really smart. I just found you but in the 3 videos ive seen you have understood or predicted things in a really impressive manner. Im def going to watch all your stuff now. I hope your feeling better
The rope pull was actually a good idea and might have worked had they positioned the rope better or used something to get a better angle. Although a foot might be lost
In my opinion, this is the example of humanity, showing the best examples of compassion, determination & ingenuity, this also shows the worst of humanity, such as greed, lacking common sense, and the complete disregard of respect. As well as overall showing who people truly are deep down
It's so weird he didn't widen the squeezes before diving straight into clearing the way to the goal. It would make the trips easier while he worked, and he would obviously have to do it eventually so it wouldn't scare off the tourists.
I feel so weird watching this, I have seen dozens of reactions to this video, and this one feels like.. a different version of the video. Like a remaster of sorts. It's really interesting! Thanks for the funny commentary!
I've been waiting for you to check out this one. It's a terribly sad story, but Internet Historian does a great job at presenting it and keeping it from getting too grim to be enjoyed. It's one of my favorite stories he's done.
Seeing your reactions and questions when I know the outcome of this hit different, dramatic irony at its finest. Also since you react to both Love is War and Max0r, I‘ll warn you his Monster Hunter video has a massive Love is War spoiler in the 9:40-9:50 range.
Always remember. Once the pin is pulled, Mr. Cave is no longer your friend. Or was that Mr. Grenade. Also. Gotta recommend Martincitopants. His Kerbal Space Program and My Summer Car series are amazing.
You called it. Something similar did happen in modern day, the man trapped in Nutty Putty Cave only lived for 28 hours before dying. In that case they never managed to remove his body, they just sealed the cave.
I don’t think something like this would happen in modern day. I mean people die in caves and doing scuba, but we have dedicated organizations and a lot of procedures built to rescue people from these situations. There’s a lot of situations similar to Floyd’s where the rescue was successful and just as big in scale. The problem with Floyd is that it was so early
I only found your channels genuinely recently, but I love your reactions and personality! I wish you luck in getting past the cancer hurdle, and coming out stronger than ever on the other side!
Loved the video! Your reactions really elevate an already very well told story. My recommendations are "The Gentlemen Pirate", on IHs other channel, its great. And any of the last 5 or so videos by Dan Olson, also really good, despite looking like dry documtaries at first
it still baffles me how he was working on sections further in rather than clearing out the squeeze first - tourists would've needed to get past that anyway, so why put it off? also, crazy how he would've been fine if the gawkers simply weren't there with their campfires
Such a catch 22, I wonder if Gerald Would have been able to rescue Floyd if the story hadn't been made famous and hadn't drawn in the increased amount of onlookers, or if they only got so close because of the resources that came in.
Between Homer and Gerald, and maybe Burton (who was also a local), they might've been able to do it as there wasn't really anyone helping meaningfully at that point besides Miller that wasn't local. If the crowds had been run off after Miller showed up, and Burton simply did a shift removing rubble instead of immediately trying to rope pull, they'd have potentially gotten him out by the time Gerald got there. And without all the crowd, they'd have had much more time to work and brain-storm if they didn't have him freed by the time Gerald arrived. Though considering how close they came, just getting the onlookers that weren't helping with the rescue to leave would've likely saved his life.
23:13 This is hilarious because I think one of the towns people later on actually mention the idea of sending a Contortionist, funny you thought of this as well.
Poor Floyd basically got what he wanted in the worst way possible. Also, if you want entertaining documentaries, I'd highly recommend EmpLemon as he's gotten pretty good at them himself. A good place to start would probably be one of his Nascar videos, The Art of the Choke or one of the Never Ever videos. Wendigoon also makes some good videos himself, though those tend to be more laid back than the others.
Keep in mind about "cave tourism": First of all, it was the 1920s. Not a lot going on in general back then (and it was before KFC lol). And second, it's not all of Kentucky, but specifically the southwest of the state, where Mammoth Cave is. In north/central Kentucky (near where I'm from) we've got horses, and eastern Kentucky, being located along the Appalachian Mountains, used to be full of coal mines. And many areas of the state have decent farmland too (lots of cows around here). I don't know why farmland was so crappy around there; my assumption would be that the soil is very rocky due to the caves. And people have to make a living somehow, especially in the 20s so...cave tourism!
IH's videos are always so high quality (especially his longer ones) that I don't even mind waiting a long time for the next. Also, since you already saw a bit of Max0r so far: I highly recommend his video on the game "Yakuza 0"...

And so is the single man Italian CV35 "toddler tank" with the dinky cannon. They are meant to park in bushes and shoot other tanks point blank! You sneak up and as Mighty Jingles puts it "give them the surprise buttsex" by shooting the fuel drum or ammo compartment
The CV line was quieter than standard Autoblinda/Puma armoured cars, even! So you could even sneak up on a loudly yapping/smoking infantry platoon
Hell yeah, man in a cave is one of his best videos.
Balloon boy is my favorite ih make banger content
Fall of 76 for me followed by Dashcon and Rainfurrest
He really upped his storytelling for this one. It's crazy how he's still improving considering how many famous videos preceded this one
@@leradmuiel7634 Fall of 76 was my first IH video and it was a great introduction lol
I think that every time he releases a new video. He’s constantly evolving his craft.
"His friends are actually so precious and cute."
Dude, agreed xD The chemistry that Internet Historian and his crazy collaborators have is at least half of the charm. They always seem like they're having a lot of fun.
Oh, impressive timing! Im really glad youre enjoying his content!
I've been in Mammoth Cave (though not anywhere near Sand Cave), and at one point during the tour, they do actually turn off the lights for a few minutes to demonstrate just how unbelievably dark it is. It is very beautiful, though, when they have the lights on.
Honestly, that journalist 100% was the most helpful, if it weren't for him all those military and other people wouldn't've shown up
Well, tank battles are taken at lonng range, and artillery needs signs of the enemy like sounds or exhaust smoke to approximate their location. So if your tank is hidden by some brushes and you wait for juuuust the right time to take a shot, then yes you can use stealth.
holy shit STRATEGY?! IN MY COMMENT SECTION? brilliant.
The fact that the Cave itself seemed to have said: "THIS ONE! This one in particular!" for almost a century.... damn Nature, you scary!
As someone from Louisville I loved this video talking about something I was taught from my grandparents as a kid, and I love to see people's reaction to Floyd's story. It is probably one of the saddest, but also inspiring stories to come out of Kentucky.
Side note it is a little funny to me that you posted this the day before the Derby, the other major thing that Kentucky is known for
@zero_gateway6810 As Russian Badger once said Kentucky is only known for horses and chicken.
I chuckled at the suggestion at 23:13 knowing what was coming up less than 3 minutes later at 26:05 😄
I have to say, I've become a big fan of your reaction videos here. You're funny and energetic and I love hearing the stories you share along the way as well. You make the content even more enjoyable with your take on things.
I'm happy to have found your channel and subscribed! Thanks for the videos and spending the time with us!
:D welcome to the channel and thanks for sharing the fun with me!
Poor Floyd... a man fascinated with caves, until one of them reciprocated his feelings
I honestly lost track of how many times you said "Oh my god, they're gonna get him out!"
It was a rollercoaster of YES and NOOO. For an entire video
Floyd's brother , Miller and Gerald were the MVPs tho
Floyd's brother wanted to help him, even after his death. Even though the most he could do at that point was give him a proper burial
Miller came for the story, but actually wanted to help. And you could argue that its him reporting the story that we know about it at all.
And Gerald was a straight up GIGACHAD, he nearly got Floyd out all on his own.
And he would have if it weren't for the FUCKING MOB
I hate to be that guy but he gets a lot of stuff wrong. In terms of entertainment value and effort though? Top notch!
What a shame that magnum opus was an act of plagiarism. Taken nearly word for word from a mental floss article.
Magnum opus you say?
"magnum opus"
Well, it did define his career, so maybe that still can apply, even if it's in a different than inteded direction.
It's very emotional. I actually live within 15 miles of Sand Cave. Floyd set a very strong sentiment of Cave Safety that pervades to this day. The NPS has done a lot to help protect the environment and keep people safe.
I'm obligated to tell you that I did indeed laugh,
and it was for the "get his rocks off" joke!
Not only am I a sucker for a well placed pun,
it also tickles me in general when you follow up any joke with the "Eh? Eh?" :D
same lol that was funny as hell!

A true decline of journalistic integrity....
The last time anyone saw Floyd alive was when he was begging not to be left alone.
Now that is horrifying
Hell yeah I was about to rewatch it, now I can do it with your reaction
:D buckle up friendo we are in for a ride!
Alicia, your personality is very uplifting that you never fail to brighten my day.
The “get his rocks off” joke was actually perfect at 26:46 I wouldn’t be surprised if internet historian intended it that’s how good it is.
36:11 Most adorable reaction to a "jumpscare" ever. Love Your content Alicia❣My recommendation would be to watch the Overwatch Cinematics in Chronological Order, then later on watching an Explanation video when You have the time. I promise they're Pixar quality and beyond.
It really feels like an old school storytelling. The visuals are awesome. But the storytelling man, it's what sells it
ok, i have to admit i laughed at the "get his rocks off" jerk off joke. you got me on that one
Was hoping for a reupload just for your reaction. I honestly think this qualifies as one of my favourite videos of all time, with the structure making it feel like a full fledged short film.
100%, all of this.
People who willingly go into such spaces where you have to literally breath out to fit are something I will not be able to comprehend
It's actually surprising how different this is from the original video
Yep. I thought at first that he'd just upload again the original vid, i didn't think he'd edit the whole thing😂
ive barely got into watching this and the lines that are different are throwing me off so much.
It's been so long since I watched the original I genuinely forgot about what fully was said line for line in the original so I didn't even realize it had been altered, I need to find something that lists all the differences
Because the STOLE the entire script of the previous video. HI is a thief.
@@rapsody230 He also lives in your head rent free, and that's far more pathetic
‘Why would you?…”
Same reason ‘why” we Sailed the Widest, harshest seas in wooden boats.
Honestly if my body got the same level of disrespect as Floyd, I’d be coming back to haunt whoever thought I’d make a great display piece.
Oh and to add one more, “Building a laser baby”
I hope she does an In the Field episode with him. Or some sort of collab.
GET HIS ROCKS OFF!! I laughed heartily at that.
Everyone who tried in this story is a hero to me. Can't even imagine I'd help, confined space is my main big phobia.
Man, you are either very skilled or very lucky. Good that you’re still alive
You couldn't pay me enough to do that, luckily I'm a fat guy so I wouldn't fit anyway lol.
That story of yours reminds me a bit too much of the Nutty Putty cave entrapment...
Glad you took my and others suggestion for this! Hope you and yours is doing well! Have a great evening.
And turns out the video was plagiarized from an article by Lucas Reilly… that’s why it was taken down originally…
In my opinion, this is the example of humanity, showing the best examples of compassion, determination & ingenuity, this also shows the worst of humanity, such as greed, lacking common sense, and the complete disregard of respect. As well as overall showing who people truly are deep down
It's honestly crazy how 127 hours got a movie and this didn't.
Probably because Aron Ralston actually lived.
well we got this video which is essentially short film, and just as good as any movie. both versions of the video.
Probably because that story had a happy ending
Hi! I've been binging your videos since youtube recommended it a lot. And it was a good recommendation! Keep doing what you do. Im enjoying it a lot.
Sooo many emotions, so much drama and joy and bambuzzling
Good reaction
It's so weird he didn't widen the squeezes before diving straight into clearing the way to the goal. It would make the trips easier while he worked, and he would obviously have to do it eventually so it wouldn't scare off the tourists.
I think I watched this video about 3 times. Such a good video. The rollercoaster of emotions!
Bro, Miller is a GOD DAMN *KING!!!* Wow...
Sorry to hear about your cancer diagnosis Alicia well wishes & hopefully you recover fully from it.
:) thanks for the well wishes it’s going to be a LONG ass fight but I’m going to do my best! And hopefully keep cheerful along the way
I find it ironic that he wanted to turn the cave into an attraction but became the attraction itself.
Very happy you got out of the hospital, we are all rooting for you :)
Nutty putty cave incident.
@@ho-leesheet5923 That guy got it worse than Floyd
Bricky's "Every Single Warhammer 40k Faction Explained" videos are real good
I just finished watching the video... and here I go watching your reaction of it
I only found your channels genuinely recently, but I love your reactions and personality! I wish you luck in getting past the cancer hurdle, and coming out stronger than ever on the other side!
Loved the video! Your reactions really elevate an already very well told story.
My recommendations are "The Gentlemen Pirate", on IHs other channel, its great. And any of the last 5 or so videos by Dan Olson, also really good, despite looking like dry documtaries at first
It's so depressing how they missed him by just a few days.
YES I love Man in Cave. Definitely one of IH's best works.
it still baffles me how he was working on sections further in rather than clearing out the squeeze first - tourists would've needed to get past that anyway, so why put it off?
also, crazy how he would've been fine if the gawkers simply weren't there with their campfires
24:28 "The're gonna get him out!" My dear sweet summer child. 🥲
I laugh at all your corny jokes. Glad you are out of the hospital and feeling a little better.
I was gonna suggest this one, but at the time. The video was gone. Until it was reuploaded. So I'm glad you were able to react to it
Poor Floyd basically got what he wanted in the worst way possible.
I've listened to so many reactions to this story while working I can hear the changes he made for the reupload so clearly
This was a good story. A bitter one. But good all the same. Glad to hear you're still kicking, Alicia.
This cave just would not let this man go.
Keep in mind about "cave tourism":
First of all, it was the 1920s. And people have to make a living somehow, especially in the 20s so...cave tourism!
the brother, the reporter and the childhood friend were honestly such a great people.
IH's videos are always so high quality (especially his longer ones) that I don't even mind waiting a long time for the next.
Also, since you already saw a bit of Max0r so far: I highly recommend his video on the game "Yakuza 0"...
