This works in Range Rover Sport 2017 (L494) too. Make sure you have a good cable. No issues. Connected internet from Firestick to my phone via hotspot. All I need now is Video-in-Motion

Just tried it on mine, I have the older firestick and it takes absolutely ages to boot up but it does run

Yep! - because every Velar has a HDMI port - and you just stream the media from that port. Enjoy!
You mentioned this is useful for long journeys. Are you able to view the video on your screen even when the car is in motion?
I realised afterwards that you can't play it whilst driving, only in Park mode. So on your journey if you've pulled over to have a break, or you've arrived early somewhere and have to wait, then it would be good for that. The same concept as the in-built TV option.

I have Velar and my fire stick didn’t work but I used the usb port to the side and not underneath so I’ll try again connecting and start watching fire stick in car 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Thanks Kirk :) - I've heard that Apple CarPlay is coming in 2019 to most Land Rover models, including Velar - but I can't 100% guarantee that. The In-Control Apps loads up when you connect your phone via the USB port in the car, and allows you to control apps such as Spotify using the steering wheel buttons and also connect other traffic/navigation apps on the Velar screen. Its a beautiful car, but I don't really use In-Control apps as its quite buggy in my opinion.

@@gregbarnes7247 JLR told me on the phone they don't provide any software updates unless the current software is broken - Any ideas on how I can get it?

Hello, say me when you drive can you see the fire tv or the system of Range Rover cut the hdmi signal ??
When you start driving, the velar will cut the video, but you still hear the audio. It's an in-built security feature.

Apple Car Play is coming to the Velar's in Q2 2018. It is currently already available for the Discovery Models.
As soon as the weather is sunny and nice, I will do an exterior review - any particular things you want me to cover on the exterior?
Thats really refreshing for sure knowing Apple CarPlay is coming in 2018. Glad its not cold here today in the states its pretty warm down south so we are all trying to make the best of it before the cold barrels down again...lol. Dashboard does not include apple carplay normally, but i wonder about How to activate apple carplay in velar?
You have to get the software in your Velar updated to the latest version by your local Land Rover service centre. Then you will have it :)

My velar has apple car play when I connect to my iPhone or android using usb cable
I can see you have something connected to the fire stick hdmi part, I connect my fire stick directly and it doesn’t work
That's the additional power source to connect the fire stick. It uses the USB to power it. Perhaps that might be why.

I have a late 2017 Range Rover Sport - this works perfectly apart from sound isn't right... it's tinny and crackly. Any thoughts?
Not sure about the sound unfortunately. Maybe try a new wire? High quality one.

Yep, its a security feature by the hardware to not let videos play back on the screen when driving, from ANY source input.

I’ve set this up and it works very well.
One thing though is how to get the video to go full screen.
The television seems to be able to do this but not the fire stick.
I don't think you can increase the ratio of the videos from the connected media ports as this is restricted by the software behind the screen.

If he Evoque has a HDMI port for media, then I think yes.
Trending Reviews, have you plugged an iPhone into the HDMI and got it to work? When I do it, the HDMI option appears but remains greyed out.

Trending Reviews I’ve solved it. For some reason you have to use the usb that is directly next to the hdmi. Now have that on one hdmi and a chrome cast on the other. Thanks for the video, a great help.

@@naumanalishahid Yeah its a shame! I tried to make it full screen too, but couldn't find a way - but it must be the aspect ratio of the apps on the firestick, whereas the Velar screen is just extra wide for its own OS.

Which Firestick model do you have? Does it power with USB Port?
Hi I have a Range Rover sport 2018 model with the New Touch Pro Duo however when I plug in the fire stick it shows the HDMI input but when I select it, it does not change the source and stays on the radio. Any ideas. Range Rover said the port works. It worked once and then from then on nothing. It is plugged in to the usb power and HDMI straight in to the port.
Hi Ryan. Can you try either of these 2 methods:
1. Plug it into the USB Port located directly under the HDMI Port one
2. Try plug it into the HDMI port without plugging it into any USB ports
And see if either of these work?
The USB will only power the fire stick and the HDMI will not work on its own without the power. As soon as both are plugged in the HDMI option displays and can be selected but not switched over to display just stays on the input selection screen. Spoke to Land Rover they have checked the port and said it’s all working.

Chris Gates hi Chris no went back into Land Rover and they checked it and they said when they plugged their laptop in it worked and then they said it’s a port but not designed to play video. So no idea I have tried so many devices on it once it came up and now it doesn’t. Any ideas your end mate.
