The easiest way is to buy a Chromecast dongle, hook it up to the HDMI, use your phone as a hotspot and directly stream content from your phone to the car's screen. You don't need a laptop.
Get a laptop first then connect the wire.. Why not just watch it on your laptop
As mentioned in the video, you can play it while parked, so the laptop can be viewed by people in the back seat, and front seat passengers can watch on the velar screen. Same point goes for having TV in the Velar, or in the back headrests.
You should do a video using the chromecast device connected to your phone instead of a laptop wireless
I would use a cell (smart) phone, and mirror its screen using a USB to HDMI cable and start Netflix there instead of a huge size laptop...
Have you tried that and does it work?
Why would you play movies on a smaller screen?
I use my Apple TV in my Range Rover, works a treat
which land rover do you have

Just Imagine Sitting Somwhere Wit a Nice Meal And A Bad Mami Watching A Movie In This Car 🙌🏾 Parked Of Course
I dont have HDMI port in my Velar. I want to watch UA-cam when i drive, its Possible?
It says content inhibit when I put it on drive. Is there a solution? Or can I only watch while parked?
interesting video! my question and it might sound not related to the video but maybe you have an answer. how can you play movies for example if you have the rear seat entertainment system when there's no DVD/CD player. Can you do the same setup with your iphone playing a movie, or do you have do convert any video you have to Divx to be able to read it through a USB stick. Much appreciated.
Any videos you have in .mov, .mp4 or .avi should work fine directly through the USB port using a USB Hard Drive or Stick.
you can use that with Google Chromecast
it's no problems 👍🏼 you can try
Is there anyway to watch it straight from the car with an external WiFi? I was able to get on UA-cam through the car but I can’t get it to play the videos. Any ideas?
Check out my other video - that may help:

thank you .just picked up a discovery 2018 with 4 cdmi ports. we spend a daily weight for the car ferry . hope this works for us. what do u think about apple mk4 working ?
Do you have Apple CarPlay working on the Discovery? I don't have the update yet on my Velar.
What is the point? Just watch it on your phone
As mentioned in the video, you can play it while parked, so the laptop can be viewed by people in the back seat, and front seat passengers can watch on the velar screen. Same point goes for having TV in the Velar, or in the back headrests. Phone screens are too small.

Nice Video. Do you also have the rear entertainment system?
Is it possible to watch TV or Netflix there (in the rear) while driving?
I don't have the rear entertainment system unfortunately, hence why I decided to figure out how to watch Netflix for the people in the back and the front using my laptop.
same thing... you select Rear Media and select for source the HDMI. Lately I believe you can have a USB to HDMI cable for use with your cell (smart) phone, so you can watch it from there, not from a laptop...
Now I can die going 60mph while watching my favourite movie. Great.
Lol
I have a 2021 dynamic S and it doesnt have an HDMI
Work with Amazon Fire Stick?
Yep! I have another video on that!

Or you know, just hook up a chromecast or fire tv to the HDMI input and power it off the USB.
Yep! I've made another video showcasing this using Fire Stick.
@@TrendingReviews Do either of them work when the car is moving though? My firestick worked only when the car was stationery...
@@lemonsuae The car needs to be in Park for it to work, for obvious safety reasons.
Hi, I got the RR Spor 2018 which comes with the Velar dual screent, but somehow the HDMI and Sim slots are missing in my car. If there anyway I could get the Apple Car Play and other apps loaded in the car as the Dealerships in India are clueless about it. There is so much missing in the car and cannot enjoy the money spent. Can you help with the basic connectivity. I’m only able to play music via Bluetooth and that’s it
Hi. You don't have any HDMI slot at all? It seems like you might have gotten the basic model which doesn't come with it but thats surprising as this is a standard feature on all models. I presume the manufacturing of the cars in India are slightly different to other countries such as the UK and US. I'm unaware of any other way you could connect your media without those things.
How to play UA-cam on velar if there is no HDMI port built in the car !
🤔 If you have a lap top handy, why would you need to watch it on the screen in the car?
I use unlimited wi-fi but i can do like this. Fuck!!!
What's the point of you have a bigger screen on the laptop sitting in the car with you?
Useless feature. Its obviously related with source which is a laptop in this case so basically you prefer watching it on laptop. The situation would be quite different if range rover had that native netflix app and watching it without laptop with me would be a great feature
Hi,question 4 u my Velar doesn’t have ambitions light can i get done because its only cost in packages option $255 which is nothing
Unfortunately you can't add that option into the car after you have received it - only when the car is being built pre-order.
Why not just use the InControl web browser, login to Netflix from that and lose the laptop?
Extremely cumbersome and laggy, not to mention takes a long time!
Soooo are Chromecast's & Amazon's Fire Sticks not available in the UK?
Do they work in HDMI ports in compatible car's like the Velar? I never thought about that.
Can you use an iPhone
Can this be done on the range rover sport dynamic 2014
If you have a hdmi port, why not...
Can you do the off a iphone? Just buy a hdmi port that’s compatible with a iphone?
Not sure, haven't tried that yet. I don't think it would be compatible with iPhones unfortunately.
Yes it works with hdmi and my iphone so you dont need laptop
@@repsolsingh7557 how did you manage that? I have tried but the HDMI option remains greyed out.
Nathan Webber you need hdmi adapter, one side plugs in iphone, than hdmi port plugs in the adapter and other end of hdmi plugs in the car, select hdmi through source and your phone mirrors on the media screen on top of climate screen, it only works when car is stationary and in park.
On the climate control centre, there is a picture of the car, I’ve see a couple where they are different, mine just shows the side of it. Can this be changed
Good question, I don't think that can be changed unfortunately.
mines a d300 first ed with TV prep
Why not just connect an Amazon Firestick, Roku Stick or even a Raspberry Pi to the HDMI (and power from one of the USB 3.0 ports)??? Surely that's a neater and more permanent solution??
I actually haven't explored the Firestick option, but I was going to do that this weekend! Video to follow on that too. Thanks for the heads up. :)
I look forward to seeing the results. I've got a Velar ordered (delivery in early April) and would be interested to have something in the car that could be just left - and then use the in-car wifi to watch Netflix, BBC iplayer etc etc
both of y'all doing too much ! ONLY thing y'all need to do is use the wifi in your car and you watch it on your screen. however; if you are driving then you do not need ANY of the above anyways !
I have the Firestick in my Velar with Car wifi and USB power and can watch anything it has: Hulu, Netflix, DirecTvNow, etc.
Way easier than a laptop
I haven't figured out a great place to install phone mount in the Velar yet. Any recommendations?
Great question. I haven't unfortunately, as the air vent is awkwardly placed above the main screen and doesn't really suit a phone to be there. I usually keep my phone in the pop open cup holder, however, there is a magnetic option that you can get on amazon (requires sticky pads to be used - which isn't great): amzn.eu/fW3USqB, and this allows you to place your phone freely wherever you want.
nice
Coukd it be connected to ipad? Thanks!
I don't think there is a way to do that, but I am going to try a few ways to see if I can, and if so, will upload a video on it!
YES
And why would we want to connect our laptops to a range rover to watch Netflix. Ever heard of CarPlay buddy?
But it will not be easier just to watch netflix directly from my laptop
It's so that people in the back and people in the front can watch Netflix at the same time (on both screens).
I wonder if i can operate back from that touchscreen as if my laptop turns touchable. Can i?
So tempting
i bet you can use your iphone with an hdmi to lightening cable and be fine too
Yep! I literally recorded a video using this adapter today, to be published soon!
Not while you are driving right?
Lightning to Digital AV TV HDMI Cable Adapter. Thank me later.
This is nonsense as the laptop screen is bigger than the VELAR screen, why bother, just watch the laptop screen.
you are doing too much !! if I have to watch ANYTHING in my car on a laptop then I don't need to watch it lol ...thats crazy !
well duhhh. the car has a hdmi input. pretty self explanitory. and who would use a laptop to do that? so many better options
Blackerflash playing some xbox
As mentioned in the video, you can play it while parked, so the laptop can be viewed by people in the back seat, and front seat passengers can watch on the velar screen. Same point goes for having TV in the Velar, or in the back headrests.
The people who are driving should not be watching movie!!
Why would everyone want to care about watching Netflix in range rover lol 🤦♂️
That’s dumb 😂 Just watch on your laptop 💻 guys
Dude...dun drive and watch Netflix at same time 🤨
It's not possible, it stops you whilst driving. Only when it's in park.
Nerf this please
