    I have a 2019 Velar with 35K miles. Had major issues with it stalling. Replaced a couple of things including new fuel pump which took a long time for them to finally diagnose...almost 25 days...but dealership did pay for rental. The repair was very expensive! Overall cost of annual maintenance is expensive. Difficult to take to anyone other than dealership because RR has so much proprietary materials and computer programs no one else can work on the vehicles...and many simply will not work on them.

    Be aware of this car!
    My velar just get motor damaged after 40'000 km! Without forcing the car in any situation, i heard one day that the motor sounds different.
    On the board: no fails!
    Driven to my garage: they didn't find the reason first time. The second time they realise that not all cylinders worked right.
    They changed the motor for 20k Euro, thank god i had the warranty.
    Just after the repair, i got rid off this car, so i dont need to drive a car with full of surprises.

    I haven't had any of these issues with my 2019 velar but I did have a cracked auxiliary radiator, bluetooth module issue, and fan issues that were covered under warranty. Other than that very seldom infotainment glitches that correct itself by restarting.

    The timing chain issues where solved in 2019 when JLR changed a component part. All post 2019 should be ok. Ive never heard ofbthe gear selector issues. The door handle issue was solved 2020 , but that was to do with the handles getting stuck in freezing weather. Ive never heard of the power steering issue.. surely that would lead to a recall? Im skeptical about the power steering and the gear selector.. ive family in the repair trade and these have never been raised as issues! 🤔

    • @lukabilic6081
      @lukabilic6081 5 місяців тому

      Gear selector was problematic before the facelift. The gear selector pre-2019 is the round drum that comes out of the holder when you turn on the vehicle and then you can rotate it.
      There were some other issues with the alternator belt - upgrade for the belt in the 2021 came.
      In principle, pre-facelift and post-facelift models are quite different.
      However, JLR turbocharged ecofriendly ingenium lineup requires "frequent" oil changes. I say "frequent" with quotations because not too long ago it was completely normal to change the oil every 10 000 km or at least once a year.
      Sure, synthetic oils have advanced and are better then ever, but the ecological constraints on the internal combustion engines means that the tolerances for errors have become even smaller thus you really really want to take care of all modern engines to make sure you have a reliable daily driver.

    By early march 2024 went to my old lad garage, he is a specialist in LR one of the very first to deal with range rovers L322 onwards here in South America and I saw a brand new Velar 3.0 with less than 25.000 km on it , it’s engine block with a small crack from inside out of the piston n2 hole. At first glance seems that the internal shirt of the piston with time expanded faster forcing the external wall of the block over time that fatigue crack appeared. I. The other hand can’t complain of my old faithfuls 300tdi and AJ V8 supercharger on my garage.

    I had a Range Rover Sport 2016 a few years back, and it was lovely, but it cost me £7,000 in repairs over two years of ownership. I was hoping the Velar might be more reliable. Please, please don’t get one if you can’t afford or aren’t prepared for the repair costs. The costs for Range Rover maintenance are crippling. If you wince at costs with a BMW, Jaguar, or Mercedes where fees might be £1,500 to £2,000, Range Rover fees will be about £5,000. If you’re rich, then go ahead, but these days I laugh at Range Rover drivers because they are idiots. It will cripple you financially unless you’re a porn star or a criminal. I love cars, love the look of RRs and Velars but they are just a massive piece of shit. Have more respect for yourself and stop "looking cool" as you will end up being that guy at the pub going to the toilet when its your round , as your broke beyond belief.
