From my first impressions, the build quality is fantastic. Lots of aluminum, a super sturdy hinge, a well-assembled bottom cover to side panels, and of course I'm loving that soft-touch felt material on the keyboard deck and screen cover. But my main concern for this device is if it will be able to do tablet or laptop well. I'm concerned that the idea is ahead of the tangible execution. I'm hoping for mobility and performance, but we will just have to wait and see.

This combined with the EGPU is seriously a great combo. I think its slightly overpriced but then again its basically the only one of its kind.

I'm interested in buying one, but not sure about the keyboard stability while placing it on my legs for example. Is it as stable as the Surface Pro or an Ipad (with the Folio keyboard)?

Interesting . I went for the x13 flow with the rtx 3050ti and 9 5900. Mainly went for it due to size and portability, plus love the touch screen / pen option which is great for work and signing things etc. If you compare to surface pro / Samsung 360 spec wise I think value for money isn't too horrific. I know hitman 3 isn't massively demanding but I am getting 70+ fps on high 1080p on something that weighs 1.3kg 😅
I like the Asus Z13. There are some quirks I discovered but so far I found some work around with it. Sometimes the Micro SD doesn't register card on startup and requires restart. When properly disconnecting XG mobile, after forcing closing of all programs, it wouldn't shut down or restart and had to force restart it. If you restart computer then click on disconnecting XG mobile form tray icon it doesn't force shutdown programs and everything is fine. Those are a couple I have had so far. Besides the super long updating windows process.

Be sure to put a screen protector on, the anti glare coating might fall off by touching the keyboard. Just got mine replaced and bought a screen protector.
for post gradschool, research work/office work with a little bit of video editing/presentations/creative work. can it handle bioinformatic softwares. How does it compare to s8 ultra and ipad pro. screen brightness, battery life, OS updates, connectivity, memory. I like the abundance of ports in this device. can you add webcam and mic.
what is the max TB that you can upgrade the M2? I heard the 30cm smaller profile limits you.
Yh so the Microsoft surface studio is also pretty similar,money is no problem for me should I get the z13 or the Microsoft surface studio
I experienced something intriguing with the Asus Z13 and XG mobile. When switching or playing in Performance or Turbo mode the screen sometimes freezes but the game is still active. There was one time where I was playing Doom when it completely froze and blue screened. There is also the boot loop when set on sleep. It appears to sleep but restarts, when connected with XG mobile. Fascinating circumstances but I wonder if Asus X13 users have had similar issues with XG mobile gaming. I should try experiment with the Asus X13 when I have the spare time.
Do you still have these issues? Thinking of getting a Flow Z13 and XG Mobile and wanting to know if I should stay clear or not.
@@liamfromwales7948 Issues went away. Loving my current setup. Asus just announced second gen Z13 with better battery and next gen XG mobile. I just got the RX variant for my 2021 Asus X13 and I have to say the Z13 port is less finicky than the X13 when removing XG mobile.
I’m definitely getting this one but I am in between getting the 4K vs the 1080 version. I’m not really a pc gamer and I have 165 refresh rate monitor. Will the output of the 1080 screen affect my experience and on the monitor or will the 4K will output the best quality on my monitor? I’d mostly use this laptop for content creation and 3D modeling. Your Channel is exactly what I am looking for I'm not a gamer that little tablet looks great its a bit pricy. I'm mostly a surfer and use quicken a lot. But I'm going to be getting back to my photography hobby, I'm an old film guy who used to have my own black n white darkroom. I have more than 10k photos and negatives to scan. so looking for an accurate color laptop or a tablet/laptop like the z13. my only concern would be the small screen for text and numbers if it's too small. I guess I could get a larger monitor for the desk. I had a very bad experience with HP hinge broke had it repaired and broke again. I could go on and on so HP never again for me. So I will be watching your reviews to see what computer might suit my purpose. My dell lasted 10 years. so looking for sturdy and heavy-duty HINGE. I'm a new subscriber

As an architect this would be a great portable device, however I wonder if it can run the software I use.
The only thing I wished they'd add is 32gb ram instead of just 16gb which is kind of starting to not be enough in 2022. Also, given the price we're paying, they should really include a 2tb m.2 ssd as standard.
If that keyboard soft material is anything like the one on the surface devices, it will fret over time on the edges
The screen does have a 16:10 aspect ratio. The Full HD was 1920x1200 and the 4K is 3840x2400.

I bought one but I had to return it because the battery life was way too short for my use. Will you be comparing the z13 with the 2022 x13 ? they seem really similar and the 2022 x13 seems to have a lot of upgrade over the 2021 x13 (Ryzen 6000, rtx 3050ti, DDR5 memory, screen brightness to 500 nits, etc). @@celinek2690 Ryzen 6000 are more energy efficient and under low power they will perform better than 5000 series but when not limited by power there won't be much difference. There are already X13 2022 reviews. Main difference would be if you would want X13 with no dGPU inside - then the 2022 model will have much better iGPU.

Would you recommend this or the rog flow x13 for 3D modelling? For programs like Maya, Zbrush, substance painter, and unreal engine? I’m thinking of getting this or the x13 because of the touch screen feature and the mobility :)
Performance wise they are very close. It depends on the user experience you want. I will say that the battery life is better on the X13.
I own both the 2021 Asus X13 and 2022 Asus Z13. I love the X13 for its weight and portability (use it for school) and the Z13 at home (with my monitor extending the screen for multitasking via XG Mobile).

@@kunalpoptani3481 An example would be from full charge I had a 45 minute zoom meeting, played CS: GO for an hour, did some web surfing for half an hour and got down to 30%. I had my brightness up at around 2/3 of max during the time too. Doesn't do too bad. I think the Asus X13 squeezes battery power just a bit more but not by much.

It is CRAZY!
I love what Asus are doing across the board. They are the only ones innovating it seems. What's stopping me buying this or the X13 is the integration of the EGPU. The proprietary connection has multiple reports of breaking, being finicky and not always being recognised. The other thing is the length of the cable for the EGPU is way too short, limiting how you can use it.
I haven't had any issues since I purchased my eGPU despite the worries. It does take some gentle wriggling in and out of the port. I do wish the cable for the eGPU come separate, making mobility and storage better (only the power cord is separate component).
I agree the connection port needs to be refined a good bit. It's just a little too moody when plugging in and when disconnecting.
I'm trying to get ROG to make a 15/16" version of the X13. A gaming version of the LG Gram. They've already solved the engineering for 13". It's greedy but lord help me I'm going to tweet it into existence.

I'm heavily considering this for my graphic design/editing work and gaming when traveling as I'd be unable to bring my PC. One lil thing that might bug me is if I fancied watching something in bed (like you might on a laptop) being unable to tilt the screen forward. It's a miniscule thing, but hey, first world problems...
ok, I saw a lot of videos for u reviewing Asus. I owned 2 Asus rog strix now, and I feel now I'm a bit not happy. Yes, it's a great laptop for regular use. The body is firm and strong, but the downside is I use is all the time for Photoshop, and really colours are over saturated. it won't allow u to change the colour settings, so when I calibrate my laptop, it's always over red. And it's not really friendly once u calibrate it it lacking, so once u run the machine on, sometimes it won't run the new calibration, and u have to go physically again to the calibration icon to readjust it. And it's really annoying.
The recent incident is that my track pads started peeling off , and this really pissed me off. I never ever had this with even with the old cheap laptop from 5 years ago. So weird. Not to mention that the track pad is lacking always, so when I select something in the photoshop and drag it, it will freeze halfway and lose my select. I'm not sure if it's only me or other got the same, but this pulls me off from Asus, and for my new laptop, sure, it won't be Asus.
how do you buy this ?
RAM is very limited, 16GB on an i9 is not enough. I run my apps and games at the same time using dual monitors, and upon checking my RAM usage is more than 16GB. I love the idea that I can upgrade the video card by using the external ROG GPU, but there is no option to upgrade the RAM.
did you find the 16GB more than enough for content creators level 4K editing?

It should be suitable, but time will tell.
One huge drawback: the 4GB vram. Would not run stuff like Quixel mixer or UE4 that depends on 4k+ texture resolution projects. Should be at least 6GB Vram.

Sir, first of all thanks making this video, i have question is Asus ROG Flow Z13 suitable for Content Creator (editing video, picture and so on)... Next, is this laptop can use game developing softwares like Unity 3d or Unreal very well?
I'm in the midst of testing right now. So far I think it's going to be very suitable for content creation. However in regards to Unity and Unreal, I'm concerned that the RTX 3050 Ti might be a little underpowered for those apps.

I am planning to purchase 12700h version of this. Have read in notebookcheck that 12900h is sort of overkill for this as the processor never operates above 55 watts
@@BenGKaiser I was able to solve the low CPU performance problem when connecting to eGPU (NOT XG Mobile). I need to make sure that i put the power cable first and then connect the eGPU. I am amazed at the performance. I have 12700h with RTX 3050 version. Really satisfied with this purchase.
Cinebench R23: 13074 with 5 minutes multithread run and 15000+ with single run.
Geekbench:1700 and 12500+ points.
Very less heat and less noisy as well.
I am quite interested in ROG Flow Z13. I had been tried it in the ROG store, the gaming performance & heat performance are amazing even better than my laptop. Consider to the price it should be both laptop & tablet, but the screen didn't quite comfortable for hand writing or drawing. The screen of this FLOW Z13 is still kind of warn for putting hand & the screen is too soft compare to table like TAB S8 ultra or ipad pro which make me feel strange while writing on it.
Without the external GPU the performance is quite limited as both CPU and GPU inside work on very limited power to manage thermals. You pay premium for the form factor.
Can the 96W Apple charger charge this device?

Why not just run an external monitor? Buy an ipad mini and save yourself a lot of $s lol.
Kind of shame they didn't also put AMD chips into this form factor. The Intel chips do give nice benchmark reviews but the battery life of Z13 is much shorter and the CPU is limited on power hard to manage temps. Ryzen 6800U and bigger than 2230 SSD/more than one would be awesome.

Sorry, but I completely disagree with your statement about packaging. In this day and age, nobody needs shiny packaging that gets thrown away immediately after opening. I prefer the way razer is doing it far more. Nice, enviormentally friendly cardboard boxes.

No they dont. Care Asus throttled the Cpu to 22w only while the RTX is in use!!
The premium price to pay for this form factor is just too much. I would go for the steam deck if i need a portable gaming device or a G14 perhaps.
