I tried it while I watched the video with the elastic I already had in my hair (in a ponytail). It worked! I have hair that's longer than yours and has long layers so usually pulling it halfway thru makes it look like a funky loop that falls out easily. Maybe that's because my hair is so fine, but there's a lot of it and it has a lot of natural body and loose curl. Anyway, I tried it just after lunch, put a cap on and off a couple times while bike riding/grocery shopping, made dinner, took the kids to the park, did the dishes, AND THEN remembered it was still in this bun when I was brushing my teeth! That's a style that really stayed! I didn't need a bobby pin, but since my elastic was bigger I wrapped it around the bun an extra time. I'm crazy impressed that I finally managed to do one of your hairstyles! (Its me, not you.) Woot!
Argh, you have the perfect hair texture/cut for this! Mine is dead straight, fine but lots of it, and blunt cut below the collarbone. Buns are a nightmare, also doesn't help that I'm very lazy! ;)
cobalong Get some Amika Undone Texture Spray. (I saw it recommended on this channel I think.) It works wonders on fine hair and I like it better than using dry shampoo. Amazon sells small bottles for $10 bucks so you can try it before committing to the larger size.
I don't know how you do it. Your hair always looks perfect. I tried this yesterday and where you have the almost kind of "poof" look in the back, mine was flat and blah. I don't know, is my hair too long, too heavy or what am I doing wrong? (I have thick, slightly wavy, shoulder length hair)
Have you tried Unite's Liquid Dust? It's a liquid version of those wonderful gritty hair powders. I'd LOVE to hear your thoughts on it/see it demoed. I think KMS makes one, too. Probably other brands, for that matter.
I was going to ask the same thing! My hair goes to just past middle of my back and I can never get this to work! I wonder if Kate could do one with some extensions to show how to do it on longer hair?
MissPrissTiff1 I feel ya but I have the opposite problem. My hair is way too long and thick for these and everytime I try to do loose buns like this, they fall to the nape of my neck no matter how many bobby pins I use 😅
sullyduke I just feel around for it, stretch it so a part of it is away from my hair and then snip! 💇💇 Works for me even with clear elastics and you won't have to worry about the tons of breakage that pulling it out can cause. Unless it gets knotted up somehow.
I am hair challenged 😐 I searched but didn't see a video on how to pull your hair into a low ponytail bun. I tried but I kept coming up with a low ponytail with no bun. help please
am i the only one who looks like a founding father when they try this

Kate, Thank you so much for the shoutout! I have just discovered your youtube channel and blog and I am loving it !!!
“It’ll help if you have some bend to your hair” Well I’ve already failed that part, my hair is pin straight
I love your videos so much! they're so relaxing to watch 💗

Do it on not so clean hair or, use dry shampoo to give it texture.

WHAT THE HECK....she just literally made a beautiful bun in the 1st step in *2* seconds. EEEEEE
That looks awesome!! My hair is super damaged and looks horrific so I need something until my next appointment. Thank you for this idea!!!
Her smile and eyes are gorgeous ✨❤️
You always make this look so easy!

I don't know how you do it. Your hair always looks perfect.

It's beautiful!
How can you achieve this look if the hair was quite a bit longer?
Amy Jacobson You have to be content with a big ball of hair resting on the nape of your neck 😂... after using 50 bobbypins.
Right!!
Amy Jacobson I have long hair with long layers so the "pulling it halfway thru" thing doesn't usually look like a bun on me, but this one worked!
I was going to ask the same thing! My hair goes to just past middle of my back and I can never get this to work! I wonder if Kate could do one with some extensions to show how to do it on longer hair?
❤️ your tutorials. Hi from N Ireland x
I love your earrings, where can I find them?! 😍
Very nice! I like it.👍
Beautiful as always
Any options for shorter hair. I always want to do a messy bun but my hair is shorter and I don't have a lot to work with.
MissPrissTiff1 I feel ya but I have the opposite problem. My hair is way too long and thick for these and everytime I try to do loose buns like this, they fall to the nape of my neck no matter how many bobby pins I use 😅
Yes. I would love some options for shoulder length hair.
Your lashes look GREAT, girl! Can't help but notice that lash lift!
So easy and simple but so cute!!!
Dollar savvy, I was about to ask where she got the shirt from!
Wow. I have a lunch with clients today. Guess what my hair will be like!!! So awsome.
Valerie Comeau Like a mess.
I'm sure you will look and do great!! :D
Your lashes look amazing! What have you been using?
Brittney N she's been getting lash lifts!
Love your videos! I always have problems removing those clear elastics, especially those tiny ones. Any tips or specific ones to buy?
sullyduke i always just cut them, personally!!
Clara Albright , that works if you can see it, LOL!
sullyduke I just feel around for it, stretch it so a part of it is away from my hair and then snip! 💇💇 Works for me even with clear elastics and you won't have to worry about the tons of breakage that pulling it out can cause. Unless it gets knotted up somehow.
Where did you get you earrings? I love them!
Great efficient tutorial thank you!!!!!!

Do you know how to pull your hair back into a ponytail? When you do that, just don't pull the hair all the way through. Leave it so it is a loop.
Kimberly Purcell thanks I just tried that but it falls out. I'll try it with dirty hair. thanks
does this cause breakage in ur hair? ples help me
Wooooow❤
Wish it were slower
0:14 is where it starts
you literally could've stopped at 0:25 and it would've been just fine.
Wait where's the tutorial?
You look like a young Jennifer Aniston
