A "use first" bin! What a great idea. I, too, tend to forget what was so important for me to buy for my next project, as a different pattern(s) catches my eye.

When I get bored with my crochet, I look for something quirky and totally the opposite of what I’ve been working on. I use some of my left over or gifted yarn to make it and I find that it gets me going again.

Hi Mary! Thanks! I wish I could find some people who wanted to learn crochet! Actually I’m not a great teacher, more so just looking for people to crochet with. I’ve thought about calling the care center where my mom used to live because they are amazing there but I’ve got a few hesitations about going back since she’s passed. It’s only been a couple months and it might feel weird so soon. IDK…….. 🤷🏻‍♀️

For me reorganizing my yarn always sparks my enthusiasm! I think it’s like Marie Kondo tapping the books to wake them up - going through each skein or cake seems to wake the yarn up and make it seem fresh to me ☺️

I did this and realized I have mostly red heart acrylic in various colors. Which is fine except I am moving away from amigurumi.
So now I am using it like tester yarn for wearables. Find a pattern, make it with my red heart acrylic to see if I like it enough to purchase the more expensive and wearable (for south Florida) yarn.

Something I would add to this listL Yarn Swap.
Get together with other fiber friends who have yarns they are bored with, and swap.

Why is Lion Brand constantly discontinuing their yarn?? It drives me crazy! I know they want to add "new and improved" all the time in order to get people's attention, but sometimes a good old yarn is just what people want.
Good luck on your Hooks and Needle endeavor! :)

@AlasBabylon1 yes I did their Lavish Lace Shawl. The recommended yarn has been discontinued but they at least still have the information for the yarn so I can at least use a different yarn in the same weight.

As a fellow crocheter I would highly suggest that you completely research the company that sponsored you. Upon investigation on the address provided and asking about where their yarn comes from they are highly suspicious. The address does not lead to a warehouse, office building, or any other place like that. It literally leads to a private residence in the Netherlands. Not in Italy, not in Portugal, and definitely not in the United States. They do not specify at all where in Italy or Portugal their yarns come from which is actually illegal in the United States. All of their images on the website are AI generated. Please, research that company thoroughly before partnering with them.

Not only that, there seem to be at least three other businesses running out of the same address. They are all subscription boxes. It does make one wonder.

@@catherinemadjaric7200 none of this is to smear Shannon, the yarn company or anything like that. It is simply to point out the importance of fully researching and vetting a company before you agree to a paid partnership or sponsorship. The last thing that anyone should ever want is to be partnered with a scam or a predatorial company that uses slave labor and other unethical practices.

I really can't recommend that company at all, in fact I recommend people stay away from it as much as possible. The address provided on the website goes directly to a private residence in the Netherlands, not a warehouse or even an office building. They do not specify the location of the Yarn Mills, which is very suspicious. All the website images are AI generated.
