I have same mixer I am getting one problem in that mixer is working but when I play song from that my mixer master output is cracking

I've got a dim 500, I need to replace bass pots but screwed because on one channel someone soldered a replacement pot but they put aroldite over the top to firm it up, gonna have to burn it off it's gonna stink like fuck.
