Good tutorial. Im a Leica technician. You might need an extra tool to hold tight the fork from the rewind knob in place, otherwise rewinding severel times it could unscrew accidentally. By the way, you have an Upgraded M1 to M2. The toplate is M1. Regards from Spain

hi! Thanks for the video! Does removing that black mask from the viewfinder impede the camera in any way? You can also find it on later cameras, just with a wider frame. Apparently it improves the image in the viewfinder, like an aperture.

I typically use a larger flat blade screwdriver to insert between the prongs of the rewind shaft to hold it firm rather than my finger for loosening and tightening.

Lost my M3 rewind knob screw on a shoot. New one coming. Couldn’t you use a pair needle tipped tweezers to screw that back in?

The film advance ever makes a ratcheting sound on the return. Is that normal? My M2 does not make that sound.

I believe they are called friction wrenches. It seems they can be specific sizes for different cameras, so many repairers fabricate them themselves...

Just researched further, they are also called flexiclamps! www.micro-tools.de/en/Flexi-Clamps-oxid/
