Also, later on in the year apparently you can catch monster squid and flatty of the Cleeland bight. All the best, that kid who you saw at San Remo a month or so ago
G’day mate only just started watching your videos but really loving them so far, me and my mates have only just really got into fishing so maybe we still are not the best but your videos on squid have helped us so much fishing the Mornington Peninsula so thanks mate and keep up the good work and keep making videos.
Thanks for the kind words mate, means a lot. Super glad that my videos have helped you catch squid in your own area. Im always trying to give as many tips as possible, so I’m glad they helped ! Cheers.
Nev's Fishing No worries glad to give some feedback, my mates and I went kayak fishing on Lake Tyers a few weeks back and I caught myself a 78cm tailor. So can’t wait for you to stat putting out some kayaking videos
Just bought a kayak actually so when i get home from NSW in 2 weeks expect kayak vids! Lake Tyres is such a sick spot, gonna be one of the first places the yak goes
Fish (and cephalopods) caught in the video Southern Sand Flathead Smooth Toadfish Southern Calamari Bluethroat Wrasse Senator Wrasse Six Spined Leatherjacket
@@jessenicholls2134 For starters this is well outside the Crimson Band’s range which is on the East Coast, whereas this is in Western Phillip Bay along the South Coast. You may be right about the wrasse at 9:02 although I think it’s still a juvenile Bluethroat, it has some features of a Castelnau’s Wrasse. I have fun chasing wrasses down the pier here, the blue throats are usually small, although occasionally the larger ones will show up (but not normally bite). The Senator and Purple wrasses are both really good fighting.
Awesome video love the micro fish! Have you caught piper/garfish before? Here in NZ there are a lot but hard to catch. Asian fisherman are masters at catching them and catching the wrasse, which are usually kept :(
Cheers heaps! I actually don't think I have caught garfish before but I am definitely going to give it a go, heard they are fantastic bait! Down here they mostly use lights and net them at night in the shallows but I've heard of a couple gun fishos who use tiny hooks to get em.
Nev's Fishing yep I’ve seen them caught in nets and it’s probably my best bet for bulk as I’ve only ever caught small numbers on hooks. I’ve also yet to find an Asian fisherman who speaks English and will show me his rigs and what bait he uses😂 good luck!👍 they’re good eating too but a bit fiddly.
Well done Nev not too cold was it, i went the other morning when it was a frost, very cold and caught zip, the dog ran around for a while then got back in the warm car too cold for him!
Nah wasn't too cold this morning, but it has been the other times I went! Usually when the dog has given in to the cold the owner shortly follows haha! Cheers as always!
Few things. One: if your still having problems with your reel backpedaling you can flick a switch on the reel itself to stop that. Two: as squid have a small lifespan, the bigger boys have died off and the smallies are rising up. Hence the bad squidding lately. Finally: if you can tell me (if u want to keep it secret that’s fine too) but where is that squid rock spot, just for next time i come down to the island. Thanks!
Cheers for the suggestion about my reel but it actually doesn't have that switch, anti-reverse has just died (which is dumb). Also yeah squidding is always tough this time of year, can get lucky and get the odd big one though! Also I want to keep the rocks a secret but they are near Cowes. Cheers!
Have been to those rocks and they are dangerous. Couldn't find the courage to go out on them as my boots kept slipping. Ended up casting from the start of the rocks. No luck.
you should come down to my local pier in hasting in Westernport bay I dont catch much fish but all of my mates catch lods of fish. if you do please shoot me a dm so i could come down with you.
